+ 0 moreThe roofers were cool. They arrived on time. While inspecting my roof they cleared a drain that had become clogged by a tennis ball and ice. They gave me some insight into the condition and age of my roof and were very professional.
Description of Work: Inspected the roof. Removed a tennis ball that was lodged in a gutter and broke up oce the had formed around the plugged drain.

+ -1 moreThe roof maintenance package was to have them do caulking and fix some minor repairs. They came out and took some magnified pictures of small imperfections. They explained that I needed a lot of work done. I got a second opinion. They didn’t do any maintenance, they just took pictures. I asked them to get back to me with a quote regardless, but they never did.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal from this company for $149 for a roof maintenance package.

+ -1 moreThe reason for the new roof to be installed was to fixed a leak that I had. Once they installed the new roof the leak was in the exact same spot as before. They came back out to try and repair the roof. the most resent repair the seething was blown off. They installed a scuffer and that is still not working. I have a 15 year warranty and they are trying to get me to pay more money to fix this issue.

+ -1 moreIt's a long story, but they saved the day. I had a bad experience with another roofer that left me with a leak for a few years after having a new main roof installed. That company finally filed bankruptcy and went out of business. Purchased Philip's maintenance package and they said it was my shed. They came out, coated the shed and the problem was solved. A few weeks later I had a leak over the door, called and they came right out and no more leaks. Thanks for your patience team Philip's.

+ 7 moreIt is great to work with 1 contractor for various repairs/renovations. John and Rob were very professional and easy to work with. I received proposals in a very timely manner and work started and was completed within the projected time frame. I really appreciated that during the work on the living room ceiling, they noticed and pointed out the damaged joist and offered a cost effective solution. They were very patient with me and flexible to accomodate changes/additions that I requested as the work progressed. My original request was to repair the roof and living room ceiling but as work progressed, I realized how bad the rest of the interior looked. John and Rob were great. The crew did a great job of transforming the interior of a much neglected home. I am particulary pleased with the care taken to retain the texture and mouldings on the 1st floor walls and upstairs hallways. The upstairs bedrooms have a brand new look. Although a few issues have come up since the completion of the work, I am confident they will be resolved satisfactorily. I look forward to the completion of additonal projects we've discussed. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Various repairs/renovations: Roofing: resealed glass on skylights, installed modified bitumen heat-welded rubber to base of skylight and chimney, all potential water penetrations on main, dining room and rear shed roofs received 3 course roof cement and membrane applications. Repaired upper level front pent roof including installation of shingles to surface of roof and ashalt hips to peak of roof (work on dining room roof was free of charge). Interior and Plumbing: removed exisiting tiles from entire living room ceiling, replaced deteriorated cast iron pipe with 4" PVC pipe extending to basement, installed pressure treated lumber to damaged joist and connected with galvanized bolts, framed entire ceiling, installed sheetrock, primed and painted ceiling and installed crown mouldings to perimeter. Removed existing ceiling tiles from front room and dining room and installed sheetrock to ceilings and front room wall, primed and painted. Repaired and painted all deteriorated walls in 3 downstairs rooms and upstairs hallways. Installed sheetrock to ceilings and walls to 3 upstairs bedrooms, installed framing to 1 room, installed new wiring and outlets to the rooms. Primed and painted.

+ -1 moreI had the opportunity to inspect my own roof and I must say that I was shocked to learn that my new roof would be installed over the existing roof. I had spoken with John and he explained to me that the labor cost to remove the old roof would have definitely made my purchase price significantly higher. After speaking with John I completely understand the process but I would have preferred the opportunity to have been presented with the option to remove the existing roof. I allowed the installation to continue. I'm very pleased with the timely manner in the completion of the job and the quality of the work that was done. The crew arrived on time and were very polite. I would definitely recommend Phillips Home Improvement to anyone looking to have a rubber roof installed.

The staff was very nice to deal with on the phone. The pricing was within range for a new roof. I just don’t have the money right now to get it done.

+ 0 morePhillip's was great to work with. Interactions with the office over the phone were quick, friendly, and informative. The guys who came out to do the job were professional, appeared to do a thorough job, answered all my questions, and they were fine with me coming up and seeing how things were going. After the job was done and the guys had left, I saw one small issue that I wanted addressed. I e-mailed them a picture and they showed up the next morning to take care of it. It was great. You really get the impression that they care about their reputation and will stick to their word and warranty. This is the only job they have done for me, but based on this experience I would heartily recommend them.
Description of Work: Put new flat roof on our row home and installed copper eaves box to replace drop through gutter.

+ -1 moreOur roof replacement was complicated by the fact that we had concerns about how the original roof was installed as well as how our house was constructed. We knew going into the project that we might have a few surprises once the old roof was removed. John and his crew were easy to have at our home. They allowed many extra people onto the roof to inspect the things he and is crew found as they removed each section of the old roof. There were several times during the three day job that John pulled me aside to explain that there would be additional charges for the repair work that he needed to do before applying the new roof. I felt that John did everything he could to give me options and information to help me make an informed choice about how to move forward. In the end, the final invoice was quite a bit more expensive than the original estimate. This was not John's fault and I had no problem paying the price knowing that things were done correctly to address the issues found during the course of the work. I am happy to recommend Phillips Home Improvement to anyone who wants a job well done by a great crew.

They did show up, however they didn't take any notes down and they never followed through with an estimate or anything. I was also told I would receive some references in the area where they had done roofing. I also never received that.
