Old City Movers

I chose Olde City Movers based on their rating and i was not disappointed. They were polite, on time, very professional, and all my stuff got to their destination in one piece. Items like televisions were quilt wrapped and they put things in the correct rooms at my new place. The pricing was competitive with other moving companies. When i schedule the service i told them i had about twenty totes but i ended up having over thirty totes and as man plastic bags, but the price was the same as they quoted. In other words the fact that i had more then i said didn't raise the price because they were not messing around. ( and i don't think they had another move after me since my move was in the afternoon) I was very comfortable with them and felt like they had everything under control, mostly because of Lou who was running the job. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again. One other thing. I had some stooges (three) in my house at the same time Olde City. They were removing some appliances and were supposed to be long gone by the time my movers came.. The olde city guys worked around the them, didn't ask them to move their truck which was definitely in their way, and even tried to help them out with tools.

They arranged move without problems even though the date changed twice due to the building schedule. They came and quickly loaded arrived at new destination on time and unloaded with incident. They knew what they were doing and did it. What more could you ask?

These folks are superb. We hired them based on AL reviews and a reference from someone in our neighborhood. They sent out an estimator who took a real look around and actually listened to what we needed. Their packing crew was efficient, accurate, careful, and smart. The same guys moved us and fit everything into one mid sized truck - well done, guys. They also completed the move in less time than I expected and were very solicitous about making sure we got things put in the right places, etc. As importantly, these folks are very, very calm and deliberate. Somehow they managed to create a very placid atmosphere in our house during a very stressful event. Finally, they also are very nice and interesting people -- a terrific and unexpected bonus, particularly given that we spent the better part of two days with our crew. Many thanks on a job well done.

I had contacted a number of companies in regard to my move from NJ to the Pocono's, and chose Old City Movers partially because of previous reviews. I was moving from a townhouse in Burlington County, NJ to a house in the Pocono's and had an additional stop at a storage unit in a town approximately a 1/2 hour from my new home. Rich, Dan and Jay showed up on Monday as scheduled to pack my belongings onto their truck. They completed this portion of the move in a punctual manner, and were very helpful and professional. The next day they called, as they had said they would, to let me know approximately what time they would arrive at the storage unit, and met me there about the time they stated. They then arranged to meet me at the house. At all times, they were professional and respectful of my belongings. In addition to doing a wonderful job, the price was about $100.00 less than originally quoted! Not only did they save me money, but when I called a couple of days later because I was unable to locate an item, they remembered at which location they had left it! I have nothing but good things to say about this company and Rich, Dan and Jay. If I need to hire movers again, I would hire them with no hesitation! Thank you for a job well done!

My original move date was during Hurricane Sandy, and the folks at Old City were diligent about keeping in touch. They called me the Friday before, when the forecast was still unclear, to alert me to the potential problem. Then they called on Sunday morning when the mayor and governor declared official states of emergency, so I had the maximum notice that the move had to be rescheduled. I cannot consider the reschedule their fault at all; I'm sure this was a common scenario for all movers on the eastern seaboard that week. They showed up on the rescheduled morning of the move and got right to work. They treated all my furniture with great care, from the delicate antiques to the giant desk that had to be disassembled in order to get it out the door (and which they made sure was properly reassembled at the new location). My apartment has a tricky stairwell, which they negotiated carefully to make sure neither furniture nor building were damaged. The guys were good natured, worked well with each other, and were extremely courteous to me. They made sure to move my comfy recliner out last and in first, so I had a place to rest while they worked. They asked me where each box should go in the new location, instead of just dumping it all in a pile. Unlike other movers I've used, they actually READ what I had written on the boxes, and put things marked "kitchen" in the kitchen, and "office" in the office and so on. They made sure the job was done right and efficiently. Kudos to Travis, Dave (the King of Jeans), and Phil! Pricewise their rate is about standard ($110/hr for a three-man crew). They charged for 1 hour of their travel time to/from the move site, and they charge a fee for credit card use (to cover the credit company's fees), neither of which is necessarily done by other movers, afaik. However, I didn't begrudge this, as they did excellent work (and I paid in cash, anyway). I do freelance work on an hourly rate, so I understand that time=$. The guys at Old City are mostly musicians and artists doing this to make money, but they really do know what they're doing. Their background was actually a plus for me, as I have lots and lots of books, art, and music equipment. I trusted that they would respect the extra care needed, and I was not disappointed. I would hire them again without hesitation.

One word - AMAZING! Jeremy, Travis and Jamie totally rock. They were fast, professional, careful and treated our possessions like their own. They not only moved our furniture but also fixed our tv stand that was broken before the move and put together our dining room table and china cabinet that was left in pieces by our less than professional contractor. They made the moving portion of the experience easy and stress free. Would only hire Old City for our next move and would recommend them without reservations.

First experience with Philly-area movers, we got quotes from 4 different companies. 3 of the 4 were similar but we felt most comfortable with the rep from Old City Movers so we went with them. They showed up promptly, were very efficient yet friendly, everything made it without breaking. My wife referred to them as the "hipster moving company" since they were a bunch of skinny artists and musicians, we were skeptical at first when they showed up but everything was great! We hope not to move anytime soon, but if we do we would definitely use them again.

Wow -- these guys are wonderful. John came over right away, walked the house with me to give me an estimate and we booked him that week due to his great reviews on Yelp. The packing and moving went very well with the four man crew they sent each day. What took previous movers 6 days of work these guys managed in a good long two days. Their excellent attitudes after hauling very large and heavy furniture with countless trips up and down stairs was incredible. I hope to not move again for many years but would call them immediately if I do!

Quick, very hard working crew. Very nice guys - professional, and hard working. These are guys who have jobs/love for the arts who do this work for extra money. They are selected only if they are hard working. Fast work! Recommend having everything boxed in one size box and furniture broken down, ready to go. These guys hustle, and will get you moved in no-time if your stuff is ready to go.

They were on time and courteous. They did the extra steps and moved items from room to room. Before leaving they asked if I needed anything else. They did an all around good job.

They were just super nice and helpful with anything you needed done. My daughter moved to the 36th floor of a high rise and she moved furniture up there not knowing that it wouldn't fit, and they brought it back down and helped me get it into my van. They are just nice people. We are going to use them again in the future.

There were a few items which were damaged in the move but I felt it was insignificant considering the number of items that were moved. I was happy with their service and I would use them again.

I hired the Old City Movers for my move from PA to NY about 100 miles. I was very happy to get an appointment for Sunday morning after calling in on a Thursday on a short notice. They replied to my email and asked details about the type of apt an stuff to move. They provided an estimate which was finalized on completion of the job depending on the hrs required. The guys were professional, friendly, quick and wasted no time. The arrived a few minuted before scheduled time of 8 am. My husband was waiting for them at the other apt to unload the stuff. A worry free experience

This was a awesome experience. They worked with my schedule. Professional and Friendly. The actual price was under the estimate. Travis, Ritchie, and Jay arrived and got right to work, from packing and wrapping furniture to carrying to load on the truck. They navigated some pretty tight spaces with heavy loads .Nothing broken, cracked or scratched. These guys worked hard from the moment they arrived. We would use this company again!

This was a wonderful experience. From the moment I contacted OCM, I felt like I was dealing with professionals. They emailed me back and provided a quote which turned out to be pretty accurate, if, a little high. They helped me secure a parking permit so the guys could park just next to our place. They arrived and got right to work, from packing and wrapping furniture to carrying already-packed boxes and tubs. They navigated some pretty tight spaces with heavy loads and barely left any evidence that they were there. Nothing broken, cracked or scratched. These guys worked hard from the moment they arrived and got us packed up in about 2 hours. When they got out to the house in the 'burbs, they were just as careful and put everything where we requested and asked for guidance if they weren't sure. Jay, Paolo, and Dan were true professionals and treated our items and homes with the utmost care. They were very easy to work with, and, if anyone asks me, I'll certainly recommend OCM to do their moves as well.

I enjoyed working with this moving company.Order boxes early from them, I contacted them a month in advance and they did deliver boxes to me but it was only once a week, so you need to plan. When I run out of boxes the week before move they did not deliver boxes I had to go to Uhaul and pay more, that wasn't convinent. They were late arrriving and they did hot have their supplies so they had to go get them after they arrived. But the quality of work was wonderful there was three movers and they worked hard, it was raining really bvad and they made adjustments as needed. I would higly recomend as they treated my boxed and furiture as their own.

I work 12h night shifts & my boss didn't feel I needed time off to move. Thankfully I decided to go with Old City Movers because what could have been a nightmare (moving right after working) was a dream come true! The guys (Phil, Mike & Travis) were fabulous!! They called me when they were en route, were prompt & energetic. I didn't have to do anything other than relax & direct during unloading. They were professional & friendly. Everything arrived to my new house in perfect condition thanks to all the care they showed. It was really the best decision I have ever made! I was beyond exhausted by unloading time (I had been up for 22 hrs at that point) & the guys were very understanding. Had me do a quick walk through to make sure I didn't have to move anything after they left so I could just go to sleep. I can't recommend them enough or speak more highly of them. If you are considering using movers my advice to you is to do it & use Old City Movers!!! Unpacking has been a breeze because everything is where it needs to be, feels like I've been there longer than just 2 days. These guys are the best!! I will never move again without them! Phil, Mike & Travis you are all my favorites!!

Best moving experience EVER. I would use this company again and recommend them more highly than any company I've ever worked with. John quoted us a very accurate price range. He also gave us a lecture of "everything will be great if you're packed and ready". He warned that it would be long day but that with 2 trucks and a 4 person crew it could be done. He was right. We weren't quite 100% packed and ready due to various life things getting in the way, but we had listened to John so we were prepared for reality and we'd packed and prioritized as well as we could. The 4 man crew showed up with 2 trucks first thing in the morning. They called from the road to let me know there was traffic and they might run late but I remember them actually showing up about on time despite the traffic. We went through the house so they could plan their attack and they went to work. First, the guys were incredibly nice, polite, and hard-working. They were undaunted by long boxes of comic books, oversized dressers and tons of stairs. As they got towards the end of the pack-up phase, one of them walked through the house with me again to make sure that they got everything that was ready. They stopped for lunch between loading and unloading, which was great because it was an 80+ degree day and it was definitely going to be a long one. At the new house, they got a quick orientation and unloaded incredibly quickly. Despite our lack of clear labeling, almost everything ended up in the right rooms. These guys were unstoppable. And I can't emphasize enough how nice they were. At no point did I feel like they were tired, cranky, hot, or otherwise put out by the job. They did a great job and I feel like we got an excellent value for the cost. I think a true sign of a great company is how well they deal with problems. When we realized that one of the desks was reassembled incorrectly, John came out the next day to help fix it. When a piece of the custom-built bed freakishly broke when it was disassembled, they were already on phone figuring out how to fix it before I realized there was a problem. There was never any doubt that they'd take care of the problem and that it was not going to be my problem at any point. The piece was ordered and delivered by John personally, the bed reassembled and everything was as good as new. Nothing else broke or had even a scratch on it, even in poorly packed boxes of breakables. They were incredibly respectful, careful AND efficient. In short... these guys rocked. They knew how to work together and they respected each other and us and our stuff. This company doesn't just hire random guys... they hire professional, intelligent, nice people who work really hard and are invested in making the moving experience as smooth as possible for clients.

The 3 man crew arrived right on schedule and overcame the obstacles of snowy streets and lack of parking calmly and efficiently. That's how the whole move went, taking two rooms of furniture from my Aunt's row house to the retirement residence without a hitch. They were all pleasant, quick, and competent and I'd enthusiastically use them again or recommend them

I needed help moving from a large studio apartment in the city into a house with my family in the suburbs. The movers quickly moved my furniture, as well as rearranging furniture in my family's house in order to make everything fit.
