It went from bad to worse. I received no refund. This place answers the phone"Service" when you call. I called, asked for Leon, they asked which one - father or son? I said son, he wasn't in, I asked that he call me. They were reluctant to take a message. I did the calling back, got Leon jr., who said money wasn't his department, I had to talk to the owner. Then I remembered that he had told me he and his father owned the business. I called back again and spoke to his father, eventually, who was very rude and thought it was irritating that I wanted money back and said it took a month at least for refunds. He wasn't the owner, he said. After some verbal wrangling, I got at least a number to call the owner, called it and got Leon Jr. I mentioned that his father, Leon Sr., had not been very polite and he said something like "Yeah tell me about it - I have to live with that A-hole".Leon Jr. said to call back in an hour. I called back in an hour and asked for the owner, who wasn't there, and so asked to speak to Leon Jr.. I was told he didn't work there anymore. After some more verbal wrangling , they said that here was the owner afterall. The owner had a hard time with telling me his name and address - it seemed to pain him greatly. Eventually he gave in and gave me, first, his first name, and finally awhile later, his last name. I had to guess at the address by things he said and using the internet, because by this time, I had noticed that the receipt, whose number they kept asking for, had NO name OR address on it. All it said was, and I quote: NAT'L AUTHORIZED SERVICE Appliance/HVAC/Elect. 24 Hr. Emergency Service (215) 333-9376 So, big lesson learned there. After quite a bit of back and forth, where it was explained to me by Alex Fulgentsia (the possible owner of this business) that the guy had come and done WORK, left PARTS and FREON there, so no one gets money back. I offered the analogy that if your appendix bursts and they take out your spleen, do you want to pay. By this time I was pretty sure I was not going to win this one. Finally he offered me 160. back, which I accepted., Then I wrote him a nice letter listing all the aspects of this interaction and thanking him, thinking maybe a written record too late was better than no record at all. It isn't. When that letter was returned to me today as undeliverable, I felt I could quit. And write to Angie's list, which has helped me quite a few times in the past. So I hope this helps others!
Description of Work: On January 30th of the new year, my refrigerator ceased to make things cold. I received this name and number from a good friend, called it and a young man named Leon came over right away. He said, after tinkering, that the relay and capacitor were shot - 39. service fee, 200. to replace. He did that and, when several hours later, nothing was any colder, I called back. They said wait overnight. I called the next morning and he came right over again and said the compressor was shot too, couldn't be replaced, the 8 year-old refrigerator was "dead"and I needed a new one I asked about a refund on the non-effective treatment and he said yes - in about a week. I asked if I should call and he said no - it would happen automatically.
