They were very thorough, worked clean and neat, they explained everything to us about the job, and had all my questions answered and very courteous.

They did an OK job but they just mowed the lawns. Right after I called Locke Woodfin (he did the onsite estimate) to let him know the job was not complete. I went ahead and paid the bill. I didn't think twice about it because I worked with them years before and there were no problems. Also we've been having so much rain I figured they would get to me when we had less rain. I have been calling and calling. Some of the work was done on 8/1/18 and I paid on 8/2/18. Today is 8/28/18 and I have not even had the courtesy of a return call from Locke or anyone other than the nice lady who runs the office telling me she'll take another message. On Friday 8/24/17 she said she would give my message to the boss, still no call to schedule to finish the work. At this point I'm not going to call anymore because it's clear they are unprofessional. They just took the money and did not finish the job.

They did an outstanding job. They arrived on time. They removed the tree in about 4 hours. A second team removed the stump on the same day. Both crews cleaned up before they left. I had nothing to do. I would definitely recommend them.

Job went well. Happy with service and clean up after job completed.

I contacted McFarland's for some yard work needed. I need to have my lawn leveled and some pavers laid. Things started well, I made an appointment within the week of me contacting them. The rep, Locs, showed up early and walked through what was needed to be done and advised he would contact me with an estimate. This is where things went down hill. After 3-4 days of no contact I called and left a message with the nice lady who answers the phone. I received no call back. I called back again explained the situation left another message and still no call back. I called back 3 additional times and still haven't received a call back.

Peter McFarland is an excellent arborist. The quality of the work is excellent. My only concern is costs. They usually come in on high end of estimates.

I made an appointment for an estimate on Saturday. Peter McFarland arrived early. He gave me an itemized written estimate for the work I wanted done, I agreed on the price. He said the work would be done that week. Tuesday morning the men were at my house bright and early. They did a very nice job and cleaned up. What more could you ask for. Mission accomplaished.

It's sad that this company used to be great but has apparently grown too big and they've forgotten about quality in service and taking care of their customers :( We've used McFarland for a few years and while we noticed the quality going down, this last trip really upset me. We called to get our peach tree pruned over a month before (when fruits were barely there) and so when they didn't come, I took matters into my own hands figuring they were too busy. So when they showed up unexpectedly (no call, nothing) 4 weeks later, we were surprised and not there to discuss what was best for the trees. The workers HACKED our poor little peach tree which had already produced a ton of great big fruit only weeks away from being ripe and made a mess. I'm talking green peaches EVERYWHERE and branches thrown all over my flower pots in my irises, just a clean up nightmare. So the peach tree is a sad disaster and then they go ahead and take the liberty of pruning two other trees which we didn't ask for and didn't have contracts for. Then they conveniently leave a bill for $600! We tried to talk to owner to find a way to make this work even though I was so crushed about our peach tree but he just blew us off, guess they're too busy for customers now.

They did a good job, but mainly they were phenomenally responsive and did it in a big hurry when we needed it done. It was great! They did a good job. Although everything else was so great, I don't think the quality of their service was absolutely superb. I just thought it was good.

Nothing was done because I had no reply from landscaping service. Note: I answered "no" only becuase there was no other option then yes or no. I would have place N/A had that been an option since I received no reply to my request via email.

The boss, Peter McFarland came first. He was on time, friendly and professional. With his help, I decided what I wanted done immediately and what I wanted to defer for the future. We scheduled an appointment and two of his workers showed up on schedule. They were also professional, friendly and punctual. I'd like to have a lower price for their services, but I will stick with them for future needs because I believe they are totally reliable.

Co. previously removed fallen tree from the yard. We wanted to plant a new tree for the shade. After 30 years of benign neglect the back yard was more weed then grass and we opted to have the old in both the front and back ripped out and sod laid. Job was estimated that the cost would be between 6 - 7000.00 & take 2 1/2 days & was spot on. Because of prior excellent work we did not get other estimates so work might have been cheaper with another company but the finished work is beautiful. They showed up when they said they would start & finished within the estimated time. And the new yard looks beautiful. After spending the money and the terrific job they did they will be doing the lawn maintenance and mowing . Recommend them highly. Worth every penny

AWESOME! They were prompt. I gave him a deposit of 1000 and they completed the work before I paid the balance. I enjoyed working with them.

We used them before and we were that satisfied with their service that we are actually using them again. He is a very nice and efficient guy. They are excellent. They are not the cheapest but it's okay with us. Mr. McFarland knows what he is doing and cuts through the chase. It was very professional and very efficient. We will probably have him maintain the weeding and seeding of the grass.

They hauled everything away, and it was a lot of work. It was the first time I had used them. I would use them again.

Mr. McFarland responded promptly to our call and set up (and kept) the appointment time and date for the estimate. (Other contacts made vague promises about when they would arrive). He wasn't rushed and answered all my questions. The estimate was the lowest received for the removal. The workers arrived at the appointment time (8 am) and efficiently completed the job before noon. We are completely satisfied with their service and would use them again.

I got three quotes and ended up using McFarland, who had trimmed my tree several years ago. His bid came in about the middle, though some of his quotes were below the others. As in the prior interaction, Peter McFarland responded to a request for quotation quickly and arrived on time. I am quite attached to my old tree, which was apparently struck by lightning and then further damaged by the prolonged drought (he explained all of this to me). He gave me a range of options (he was the only arborist who provided a range of options rather than narrowing it to cutting off the branch). Since the branch was cracked nearly in half and would do real damage if a wind caught it, Peter kindly had his men come the morning after I called him to go ahead with the job. Two men came and finished the whole thing, like artists, in a few hours. They were very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They also left the yard in better shape than they'd found it!

I got several estimates before I went with these guys. Perhaps the biggest recommendation I can give is that these guys did NOT offer the lowest price. In fact, they were almost four times the price of one estimate I received. And yet, I went with them. Not because I'm an heiress (sadly) or like to throw money around. But because I felt comfortable that they knew what they were doing and that I would be pleased with the results. I was right. It was a job well done -- from the man who came to give me the estimate to the amazing foreman on the job (I have never seen someone take down a tree so easily or quickly.) That said, I am still curious why their estimate was so much higher than others. And while I chose to go with them, I would think that the price gap would cost them business in the future.

Peter McFarland consulted with us and provided an estimate on the spot. He was very knowledgable. His company arrived and pruned our tree in less than an hour. They cleaned up after themselves as well. A second crew came out separately a few days later to inject the tree with nutrients without us having to follow up.

I phoned Mc Farland Tree and Landscaping to arrange to get an estimate for cutting down two trees on my property. The woman to whom I spoke asked for my zip code, which I gave her. She asked me to hold for a moment, came back to me quickly, and told me that they did not service my area. I asked where in Philadelphia they were located, and she told me they were in Germantown. I am in East Oak Lane, which is only about a 15 minute drive from Germantown. I was surprised, to say the least, but there is no arguing with a company's policies. Certainly, they are free to limit the services they provide as they wish. However, Angie's List customers should be made aware that this company offers extremely limited services to Philadelphia residents.

Everything went excellent. I was lucky enough to get the same guy. He was able to climb up the tree and was able to understand the outside form of the tree. He was able to climb up the tree, limb by limb. The guy who came pruned my tree and is a real artist.

Initial difficulty with McFarland's website (couldn't send message through "contact us") but I received a very courteous telephone response to my email within a few days. An appointment with Sean was set up within 2 days. Sean arrived on time and we discussed all the the work that needed doing. He was professional and courteous and supplied me with an estimate on the spot. The actual work was performed 3 days later and the yard looks great! The only complaint I have is that the poison ivy in the back yard was not taken care of on the day the work was done. Upon receipt of the invoice, I called Sean and explained that the poison ivy was still there. Apparently the crew had run out of (kill) spray on the day they performed the work. But Sean made sure someone came back to spray to kill the poison ivy, so the job is now completed to our satisfaction.

Great! If I had more of a yard I would definitely use them again. They were fast, on time and provided great customer service and a good price.

The whole procedure was very friendly, but extremely professional. The sales guy was great, listened to my requests and then made sure that they were all fulfilled. He returned my calls promptly when I had a question. He came by and put a tree gator on it, and just generally monitored the job, often without even bothering me inside. It was a really professional performance!
