Master Countertops was a subcontractor for our kitchen renovation. They provided 2 pieces of granite for the counter and a small coffee station. These pieces are as represented, and we are very happy with them, HOWEVER… We also ordered 3 pieces of quartz; one for the island top, and two for the window sills. I visited Master’s shop, went through their samples, and chose a 4”x4” light, gray-tinged sample with subtle gray veining. I wanted something calm, in contrast to the speckled granite on the counter. The first photo below shows one corner of the island and is representative of the sample I selected. The other photos show what we got. Big, thick, dark gray veins cross the surface. They give the impression of gray lightening shooting across the island and out the windows; not exactly the calm I was looking for. When the general contractor intervened, he was told I got what I picked, and that was the end of it. When Master was approached a second time, they said the best they could do was to sell us something else at their cost. Master should have provided a more representative sample of the product. Failing that, they should have at least noticed, before cutting the counter top and sills, how different the sample looked from the finished product. They should have contacted me. I absolutely would have chosen something else. I guess we’ll get used to the big gray streaks, as we can’t afford to pay twice for our counters, but this has not been a good experience.
