I had Mark Cement do my whole pavement & I couldn't be happier, from his whole crew to Lisa who sent the emails & answered the phone, everyone was very kind & professional. They did a fantastic job & it was done in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend them to my family & friends.

Mark Cement is run by toxic masculine south philly thugs. Today, I was physically threatened by one of their workers who was illegally trespassing on my property. After repeatedly asking their worker to get off my property (they were working on my neighbors), their worker passive aggressively verbally attacked me. Worse yet, the worker knew that he worked for a scumbag organization because he even hinted that his boss would "laugh at me if I called." I did call and their supervisor Mike tried to make it my fault that his team was illegally trespassing on my property. They use the same logic as "Its her fault for wearing a dress" to say its was my fault because, after numerous times asking, I asserted forcefully for them to get off my property. Now the worker is standing in front of my house...staring menacing and laughing with his boss. Do not use these guys. They are toxic people who threaten and verbally assault. Give your money to someone who cares about your neighbors and has respect. Even listen to how they respond to this...they are bad people.

Mr. Fay - As discussed, WHEN I CALLED YOU, you harassed and cussed at our workers for no apparent reason. We were performing work at your neighbors property and you were upset at the noise. You should know that I am born and raised and grew up on your block for over 30yrs. I know dozens of your "South Philly Neighbors" and have personally called 2 of your immediate neighbors to investigate the matter. I have spoken to my employees. I have spoken to the neighbor we are contracted to and doing work. And finally, I have spoken to Google personally. Documentation has been provided. Your reviews will continue to be removed for Hate speech and defamation. You sir, are in the wrong. And, as mentioned, if you wish to discuss this further, I am willing and able as long and you do not scream at me nonstop with profanities as you did to my employees and then hang up on me. Happy Holidays, Mark Cement Contractors

I called to get an estimate and they came out for that. They emailed the estimate to me and said I needed to sign it to start the work. After signing, they said it’s their busy season and they can’t do the work now and will reach out when they can. It was never stated that they wouldn’t be able to immediately start the work as it had been implied with our previous conversations. They emailed two months later and said they wanted to come out the next day. I let them know it was too long and I had found someone else. They followed up with an invoice of $157 for a “cancellation fee”

The best thing I can say about Mark is that he was responsive to our initial calls and showed up on time to start the job. Unfortunately, the overall experience was truly horrible. Mark was extremely rude to his crew and their vulgarity was concerning to our neighbors. He did an okay job pouring a new concrete sidewalk, however, our basement now leaks where the sidewalk meets the house. Worst of all, our front steps that he replaced look horrible! They look nothing like what we asked for or what was initial promised in the proposal. When I asked Mark what we could do to address the situation, he immediately threatened me and became vulgar. Next he showed up outside our house in his truck in an attempt to intimidate us. Following that, we immediately received a letter from his lawyer threatening to sue us before payment was even due. In the end, it was cheaper to pay him and have someone else come and redo all of his work than go to court. In sum, it was a horrible experience and I would not recommend Mark for any work.

Mark and Sons replaced the stone wall and six cement steps in front of my house. I'm giving them two stars for the price, their attentiveness to issues that arose during the job, and the stone wall looks great. However, I would NOT recommend them to anyone who needs cement work. The stairs that they poured are completely uneven. One of the steps slopes significantly from the heel to the toe of the tread, it is very noticeable when you step on it. I placed potted plants on each of the steps and even had to place a shim under the pot on that step so that it doesn't look like it is slanting. The wall that they replaced looks great but that isn't even their work. They contract that out to a stone mason. If I were basing this review solely on the work that is theirs, the cement work, I would give them only one star. I recommend finding another company for your cement work.

The man who came out was very good. The side walk was fine. I have seen his work throughout the city because he stamps his logo in the sidewalk. I knew that he does pretty good work because it seems to be everywhere. He made the appointment and came on time. He did what he was supposed to do and hauled all the junk away. So, it was pretty painless.

Came out to estimate on time, provided very timely written estimate. Price was reasonable and all interactions were professional and pleasant. I absolutely plan on using this company again in the future. I just couldnt hire them for this particular job only because I had very strict time constraint that the work needed to be completed by and I didnt give much notice at all (my fault). I will be using them for future work and I do recommend them.

The company was prompt in sending someone out to look at the project, but then never followed through with providing an estimate despite repeated requests. After one month of following up with the company over the phone they gave me a verbal quote, but the secretary could not give me a breakdown of the costs for the different projects. I was told repeatedly that I would get a written estimate with that breakdown. Many phone calls and another month later I have not received anything. If the company wasn't interested in working on my home I would have at least appreciated being told that up front instead of being blown off. If you are looking for a respectful and responsive mason, this isn't the right one.

We made contact with the (Member name removed) and scheduled a tentative appointment of which they did not keep. We then contacted the (Member name removed) the following day and after the third day, they responded and we rescheduled another appointment at which they were present. They explained what they were looking for and the particular type of door they wished to have installed. The type of door needed we had not worked with before and asked the (Member name removed) to send us the literature on the door and company make. After approximately two weeks the (Member name removed)sent us a link via email. At which time we did our due diligence and quoted the (Member name removed) an estimated cost of $9,500.00 for the installation of door and related work. We were then asked for a written proposal at which time we explained that we where extremely busy due to the recent bad weather and the jobs we currently had on schedule, we had also asked the the (Member name removed) for the exact model of door being the company had numerous models that varied in price. Needless to say we did not receive their patience nor the make/model of door. In any event I would like to say we take every job with as much priority as the next. Mark Cement Contractors would like to apologize for the inconvenience and would only say that we have a very reputable business for reasons that our customers know first hand.

I looked on Angie's List for a concrete contractor for a repair job of replacing or filling in a step that came loose at my mother's home. I contacted Mark Leuzzi along with another contractor, Mark Leuzzi is the only one who contacted me. I placed the call to him on September 18th to come out and give an estimate for my mom's step, and he met with us on September 20th. He was very punctual and helpful in explaining what needed to be done. It was not a very big job, but Mr. Leuzzi treated the job as if it were. I am very impressed with his work and will definitely be using his services in the future. Myself along with my mother will be happy to recommend him to anyone who needs his services. My mother was very pleased with outcome of the job and for his professionalism!!..
Description of Work: The services provided were adding new cement to an existing step at my mother's home. The step was loose and needed to be repaired. It was done so by removing the existing step and adding new cement and then placing the existing step on top of the new cement.

I called for an estimate and Mark was quick to respond and was very prompt. I knew right away after talking to him that he was the right man for the job, because of his knowledge and professionalism of the specialized sidewalk I wanted. I had an exposed, aggregate sidewalk with a custom border installed. The work is absolutely gorgeous. All day long, while they were working, people were stopping to admire their work. Long after they went home I still had people inquiring about the job. Work was started early in the morning and was finished that same day. I also had him install a few blocks behind my house in the alleyway. I am extremely happy with the work Mark and his crew did. I would absolutely hire Mark Leuzzi again and give him an outstanding rating for the professionalism, work ethic, and old world craftsmanship that was shown in all they did. Price was right too!

Richard called me ahead of the appointment to let me know exactly when he would be there. I really appreciated this! When I showed him what was required, he assessed it in a matter of fact and professional manner and offered a fair price for the job. He discussed in detail what needed to be done to seal the house against water damage. It was a cordial and very professional business meeting. Unfortunately, his firm was quite busy for another 3 weeks, before he could get to do this job. I shared with him my concerns about colder weather setting in and not being able to do the cement work. In the meantime, I have found someone else who completed this job on a quick notice. My interaction with Richard was friendly, professional and to the point. I will definitely hire this company in the future for cement work I may need at this and other properties. I was impressed with his customer approach and expertise knowledge!
Description of Work: A patch in front of the house and next to the steps, about 14' x 4' x 4" deep, needed to be cemented. It had been used as a little front garden, so typical for Philly houses. However, I had water leaks into the basement and it required that the new patch would seal the house along the front and side of the steps. In addition, one of the steps required repair.

Description of Work: Removed, underpinned with concrete and replaced a large area of driveway bricks, cut a concrete pad to remove a crack and again poured a substrate and installed new paver bricks. Mark was A BIT MORE EXPENSIVE THAN SOME OF HIS COMPETITORS BUT HE WAS WORTH THE DIFFERENCE, HE SHOWED UP WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD BOTH FOR THE ESTIMATE AND FOR THE WORK, HIS MEN WERE HARD AND STEADY WORKERS AND KNEW EXACTLY WHAT i WANTED. The estimator came on time, and after a short examination of the old sidewalk he made an estimate for an amount below what I expected. His 4-man crew arrived about a week later, 10:00 a.m., all dressed in red T-shirts bearing the company logo. They jack-hammered and sledge-hammered the old concrete out of the way, then poured new concrete and smoothed it in place, reserving a large oval for a small tree, as I had asked. The finished sidewalk is bordered with picture-frame lines and concave corners, artfully designed and attractive. The crew was finished by 4:00 pm.

"Mark" (his business card had no last name printed on it) wanted $200 to give me a written estimate on the job. The $200 was deducted off the price of the work. A verbal estimate would be free. Of course he never even got me the verbal estimate! Is he kidding? He said that the charge was because I was going to small claims court on the old job. I explained that I would still be getting 3 estimates whether I went to court or not. I wouldn't pay $200 for an estimate ever. Very suspicious business practice. ($5,000)

Mark Jr. gave me a discounted estimate for doing both my sidewalk and my neighbors at the same time ($2400 for both properties; $1500 for mine alone). The crew arrived as scheduled and completed the job in several hours. They tore up the old concrete slabs that had been damaged by tree roots (the tree had been previously removed), removed a large section of root under the sidewalk, and poured a new sidewalk in front of both houses. My neighbors and I were very satisfied with the work. They had great attention to detail. They created a pattern of straight and curved lines between the various sections of concrete that are far more interesting than just a standard square pattern.
