Legacy Restoration, LLC

I was looking for someone who specializes in historic restoration of exterior doors, and was having a hard time finding it - that's exactly what Legacy Restoration does! We just bought a new house and our front doors (french style; about a century old) are really difficult to operate - the (antique) hardware needs attention, repair and/or replacement. Alex was very responsive, extremely professional, and came right out to give us an estimate, and our discussions with him made clear his passion for doing historic restoration, and doing it right. Unfortunately, the estimate was a bit higher than we expected (and frankly, can afford at the moment): about $1300 just to repair the hardware and get the door operating "right" and about $3500 for a full restoration. However, when the budget allows, we definitely plan to call Alex/Legacy Restoration to do the work! We also discussed repairing/restoring our original windows, and (interior) pocket doors, both of which this company does, so we may use them for that in the future as well.

Living in an old house in Philadelphia (built 1850's), our original windows were never very good at insulating the place and always rattled in the wind. I was referred to Legacy Restoration by a friend who also had her windows redone and saw great aesthetic improvements as well as lower heating/air conditioning bills. Alex, the owner of the company was extremely professional and very knowledgeable about historic restoration- his specific area of expertise and clearly his passion. He was very responsive to my initial phone call for an estimate and came out within a few days. He explained every single step he was going to take and provided a clear and thorough estimate. The work was done according to his timeline and flawlessly. He cleaned up so thoroughly I could not even detect he was there. The windows glide smoothly and our heating and A/C bills were drastically lower this time around. Highly recommend Legacy Restoration. Also had our apartment's front door fixed by Alex--the door was not closing properly prior to them coming out to work on it. Again he was efficient, thorough and cleaned up really well.
