Great attitude, great work.

It went fantastic. This is old-school, great personable service. I called him in the afternoon to make an appointment. He asked if I would home that day in about an hour. I was. He showed up on time to the minute, performed the service and REFUSED to charge me. I certainly would have been happy to pay. Based upon the things I observed, I will certainly use Mr. Fean in the future and will recommend him to my friends and family.

On time and thorough estimate.

I was very satisfied with the work. I picked out his service from the local newspaper and called for a quote and time estimate. He came to the house to look at the job and I hired him before he left.

John Fean showed up promptly to assess an electrical problem, but when he arrived, to my embarrassment the problem seemed to have resolved itself. He lives only blocks away (why I chose him), and even though he spent 5 minutes at my house he charged me $50 (reduced from $75). I would've reconsidered calling him had I known he was an electrician that charges just to walk in the door (as most will tell you upfront if they charge for an estimate). I was totally unprepared for this (no cash on hand) and thought it would have been nice to just let it go, alas, I won't contact this person in the future.

John Fean is the reason why consumers use services like Angie's List. One of the principal reasons as to why I wanted to go with him is because he was very local, and I feel strongly about using local, neighborhood people. I live in East Falls, and he is out of Roxborough. He was the closest contractor to me with good grades on the list. When he finally decided to return my numerous calls, he acted like I lived on the other side of the planet. He was completely disinterested on the phone, he was short with me, and I could tell he was annoyed that he had to go all the way to East Falls (3 miles down Henry Avenue). But he went ahead and made an appointment with me anyway to come look at the work. I thought maybe he would be better in person rather than over the phone, but I never found out because he never showed. He never even had the courtesy to call me and tell me that he wasn't going to make it. I called him back the next day and blasted him on his voice mail, but I never heard back.

Well done, professional, cost effective, on time.

John is knowledgeable about the electrical systems in these old houses. He knew the best way to do the work we wanted. He mailed a thorough estimate and scheduled the work shortly thereafter. They had an emergency with another customer on the day they were supposed to start so they were delayed getting started on my work. Once they got started on my project, they worked quickly to get things done. It is much easier to use our basement now. Also, our computers in our office are on grounded and dedicated circuits now. John and his helpers seemed to enjoy what they did and had good attitudes. On the final walk through I noticed that some of the boxes didn't have covers and the breaker box was not labeled. The boxes were old but John was able to find covers for them and he labeled, as best he could, the breakers. No complaints about taking care of these minor items. I will hire John again if I need some electrical work done.

HAD 3 ESTIMATES ON THE WORK AND FEAN WAS THE LOWEST BY FAR. WE WENT WITH HIM AND HE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. HE HAD PROBABLY ESTIMATED THE JOB TOO LOW BUT HONORED HIS ESTIMATE, DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB AT EXACTLY THE PRICE THAT HE QUOTED. PROMPT IN RETURNING CALLS AND HAD A SENSE OF URGENCY IN GETTING BY TO LOOK AT THE JOB. CAME BY A SECOND TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT HE WAS GOING TO HAVE ALL OF THE NECESSARY PARTS WHEN HE BEGAN THE WORK. FINISHED THE JOB IN 6 HOURS, A FAIRLY QUICK TIME FOR THE AMOUNT OF LABOR THAT WAS INVOLVED. AN OVERALL GREAT JOB.
