He was real cool and very informative. He came right away and checked it out. He came back the next day and he was consistent. He didn’t stop until he got it working. His pricing was fair and he was professional.

Short version: Atlas "F", Greco "A". Atlas misdiagnosed the problem, tried to sell me an over-priced replacement; Greco quickly found and correctly diagnosed the problem, fixed it quickly, and now the system is working fine. Greco charged a reasonable price. Go to Greco. Stay away from Atlas. I am placing this review on the listings for both HVAC companies. Long version: Our heat pump stopped working about a week ago. This is a Goodman, 2.5 ton unit.We called Atlas, who had installed it 8 years ago. We were told that (1) the compressor was bad; (2) the heat pump was not under warranty; (3) the unit was no longer being manufactured; (no mention was made about getting a replacement compressor separately); (4) we needed to replace the external unit and interior air handler together; (5) We could get a good deal one a replacement for about $6000 if we got it that day and even get about $500 off. I went to the web and saw that replacement compressors are out there for about $1000. This made me suspicious. I went to the Goodman web site to find local dealers. "J Greco" was one.He told me that even if I had not registered my unit with the company, he could probably get the compressor covered under the (10 year) warranty. $80 for shipping, about $400 for installation. He got the part for me. He showed up on time and told me that he wanted to check out the unit first before replacing the compressor. He checked it out. He found that the compressor was fine. One of the freon-carrying lines was empty, indicating a leak in the line. This was causing the compressor to not kick in. Turns out the leak was easy to find. Two copper lines in the exterior unit were rubbing, creating a hole in one of them thru which the freon was leaking. He fixed the tubing, put in new freon, and now my unit is running just fine. He charged $365 for everything. This is not the first time that Atlas has misdiagnosed a problem with the unit. There was a previous unrelated problem, which I won't bother discussing here. This is, however, the last time. I will not be doing business with Atlas again. I will certainly use Greco
