Joe is a true professional, unlike other people out there refinishing floors. The sanding process is clean, not dusty. He's knowledgeable about wood and finishes and uses high quality products. I highly recommend him.

I used Joe Hudson to refinish the soft bamboo floors in my condo. After interviewing many people who should have known that our particular floors were very soft (Many said they were shocked at all the scratches and dents- they claimed that bamboo was the hardest flooring!), I decided to go with Joe because of his expertise and knowledge of all things hardwood. His price reflected it, since he was more expensive than the other companies who's knowledge of hardwood types were lacking. It is good to be reminded that you get what you pay for. One company said they would be done in one day! I couldn't believe that I would get good results in one day. Joe took a week to do my floors, which was fine because we had already vacated the premises. His system is dustless, which is a huge bonus regardless if you are still living in the home or not. That dust is a pain to clean up! I know, we had it done before... Back to Joe. He was professional and communicated very well, even sending pictures via text to show me his progress since I was out of town. He filled the deep gashes in my floor with the same colored putty and then followed with 3 coats of water based floor coating, then 1 coat of sealer. It is very important to note that he used water based floor coating, as many professionals stay away from it due to the tricky nature of getting a good finish. The pro's of water based system are many, but I prefer it because it is considered 'green' compared to the more hazardous oil based one. (Do your research- you'll be glad you did!) The fact that he did 3 coats is great, since other companies claimed one coat would be enough. You could be the judge of that- but my floors are gorgeous now! I went with Joe even though I didn't see many online reviews. It was totally worth it. GO WITH HIM! You won't regret it!

Joe returned my original call within an hour. He came to my home on the same day and provided an estimate. The work was scheduled and he arrived on schedule. I had concerns over dust covering everything in my home. Joe informed me that there would not be any dust as the system is dustless. Well, there was not any dust, the floors look wonderful. Joe also went above and beyond for me by moving furniture and assembling new furniture. He provides exceptional customer service.

Horrific. I had to have the floor he laid down removed and reinstalled by another company (by Holland Flooring -highly recommend), then sue Hudson Hardwood Floors in small claims court to recover losses. I won, and the company currently has an unpaid/outstanding judgment (issued 7/23/08) in the amount of $6,113.00 against them that they have made no attempt to pay. Joe Hudson, the sole owner and installer, managed to fowl up almost every aspect of the job. While accidents happen, he even failed to wear protective eyewear and wound up injuring himself very close to his eye when removing the old floor. The special sub-floor sealer product was then applied haphazardly and when evaluated by the manufacturer, was officially deemed applied incorrectly (the product is liquid which dries and when not spread evenly, can dry in lumps and globs/mounds). The finished job was both lumpy and full of portions of the floor left bare and uncovered with the product (see photo). The manufacturer instructed him, in writing, to cut out the mounds and re-apply, and apply project to the missing areas. He refused to do either, and simply sanded down the mounds, and didn't apply more product to the bare areas. I should have stopped the job then and thrown him out. The major problem occurred during the actual installation, when he failed to clean up as he went, leaving extremely strong, wet, sticky adhesive to dry and cure on top of the new floor. He even walked through the wet glue and tracked it through the apartment and foyer carpet (see photos)! And that's not all folks. After all the glue was cured solid to the floor, he managed to convince me that he could magically remove it and it would be good as new. So, he then buffed the floor with a machine and dug his grave -- using either the wrong product, or the buffer incorrectly, and managed to BURN OFF the edges of the individual planks of wood (see photo). Being a fair person, I gave Joe the opportunity to re-do the job. Now brace yourself for this one - THEN I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT A MONTH OR MORE WHILE HE ATTENDED TO OTHER JOBS "AHEAD OF ME." That was the last straw, and I hired another company to re-do the job, then took him to court. As if it needs to be said - don't even THINK about calling this outright irresponsible, reckless, dishonest CROOK!

The job went very well. Joe was very professional, as well as friendly. He did the work just as we had discussed during the estimate. The floors look better than I imagined.
