Matt Rathgeb is the best contractor we've ever worked with, bar none. (And we've had dozens of excellent ones.) He is courteous, professional, friendly, highly skilled and economical in his use of time (but never rushed), He is absolutely committed to a result that the customer is happy with. An example of this: After Matt had finished our paint job, we looked around and realized that some of the colors didn't look exactly like the ones we had chosen. It turned out that, with our prior permission, Matt had used the Sherwin-Williams "version" of the Benjamin Moore colors we wanted, in order to save us money. But on the wall, the colors didn't quite match our original Benj. Moore choices. They were close, but not the same. I told Matt about this in the spirit as feedback for the future; the colors, after all, were close enough. He immediately insisted on repainting every room we were not entirely happy with, at no additional cost to us. "You've got to be happy," he said simply. His attitude was: "This is totally fine; no problem; we should repaint." Two days ago, his crew repainted, and did a beautiful job.

First off, it needs to be said that MRP Painting has to be the best company I have ever dealt with. Any minor concern, always addressed. Believe me when I tell you this, they want to make you happy. They take pride in it. Most of my communication with Matt was via messages but also had some phone calls as well. He also spoke and texted with my wife on things. Very professional. The estimate, I was not there for. My wife was and she said he was very professional and overall a nice guy. She said he knew what he was doing and she was impressed. When he messaged me the price it would cost, my wife and I spoke about it for less than a minute and agreed to do it. Matt said it was the quickest response he ever received. MRP was the ONLY one we got a quote from. I was going by what Angieslist members had to say as well as the accolades they have received. The guys had quite the task in front of them. I won't go into full detail but let me say that I never expected the outcome to look like it does. Matt's main guy, Paul, is amazing. He works so hard and does just fantastic work. Hold on to this guy Matt. You have a winner in Paul. He has taken his co-worker, Eric, under his wing and is showing him how they do things. The job took longer than they expected but that is the way things go sometimes. It was not a problem for my wife and I. They wanted the job to be done right, and it was. Thank you fellas for your hard work and dedication to the job. Lisa and I applaud you! Paul, for you only, thank you for being one of the nicest guys I have ever encountered. Paul treats his job as if he is working on his own home. Thank you so much!!! I would recommend MRP to anyone and everyone.

Matt returned my call within a reasonable time frame. Gave me a quote and a date when the job would be done. He was at my home by 7AM the day of the job. Everything went according to schedule. The fencing looks beautiful. I hired him for another job. He is getting ready to waterproof the outside basement wall. My husband and I are glad we found an honest, professional who takes pride in his work. We know who to call when there is painting to be done.

Matt and his two staff arrived at 7:30 (right on time) and helped to move furniture. They worked very quickly and cleanly. They applied 3 coats over the living room's darker color and 2 coats in the dining room and were cleaned up and out of the house by 3:00. I'll definitely hire them again.

MRP is great! We have hired painters twice in the past and, usually, I have been pleased though I have felt like I paid more for the convenience than the quality. In other words, I have thought that, if I wanted to, I could have done just as well myself if I had wanted to take the time and effort to do so.That was not the case this time around; their lines along the trim and ceilings are pretty close to perfect, and if there are any paint splatters, I still haven't found them. They were very attentive to detail, too. Our older row home had some random hooks and screw in the walls; they were pretty deep and had been painted over, so I had accepted them as part of life in a house with a history. The MRP guys checked with me, and removed or covered everything I didn't actually want to be part of the walls and they look nicer than when we moved in. Moreover, they held themselves to a really high standard; they had planned to be done in two days, and it looked pretty good on the end of the second day, but they came back to put extra coats on the trim because they weren't satisfied that the three previous coats had completely covered the natural wood that was there before. This alone would encourage me to hire MRP in the future, but they are also punctual, easy to get in touch with (the owner, Matt, actually emailed me repeatedly during the process just to check in), and their estimate was lower than any of the others we received. I would not hesitate to call them again, or to recommend them to a friend.

On time and they did what they said, left the super clean after the work was done.

I called MRP on 5/29/14 & left a message on their answering machine requesting an estimate. A few days later their rep came & measured the areas where the work was to be done. I was told that I could expect an estimate in a few days. I called MRP on two occasions inquiring about the estimate. As of today 6/19/14 I have not received it.

Matt and his team arrived right on time. They were very professional and worked through the day. The job only took 2 days to complete! They were very careful with our existing carpet even though I told them that we are replacing it and cleaned up at the end of the day. We had really ugly wallpaper going all the way up the stairs and into the hallway. We also had some wallboard damage. Matt gave me some excellent advise on choosing paint and we are very pleased with the results! I would highly recommend MRP Painting and we will definitely be using them in the future!

Arrived on time, completed all the work to our satisfaction. We would use them again.

Overall MRP painting did a good job. They were prompt to respond to my request for an estimate. The price for the job was fair. They cleaned up after they were done. My house is an older home and the closets were wallpapered. There was an area at the base of one of the closets where the wallpaper was coming up and the seal was not tight. They just painted over that area and left the wallpaper peeling away from the wall. I just wish that they would have scraped that area and skim coated over the area ,sanded and then painted. I had to scrape the wallpaper myself and then skim coat and then repaint that particular area. MRP did offer to come back out and address the issue but I had already did it myself.

The job went really well. Matt, the owner was always polite and courteous, and kept in touch to see if we had any questions or concerns. He told us he was sending us his best worker, and I believe he did because Paul was so hardworking, capable and considerate. This was not an easy job, as it involved not only working at a considerable height, but being able to reach windows which were at difficult to get to angles. These men take pride in their work and I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to others.

Paul came ten minutes early and set about immediately to work. His attention to detail and customer service were superb. For example, he asked if we wanted the area around the outlet painted even though the cover would have shielded that area from view. He also took his time (spending two days in total to finish the job) to make sure the work was done properly and well. We are extremely pleased with the results. We also appreciate Paul's care and thoroughnes in cleaning up the room and hallway when he was done. I would recommend MRP Painting (and especially Paul) without hesitation.

I tried to get them out here to do the work for months and each time they cancelled the appointments. Granted they admitted that they had some recent family issues that prevented them from scheduling the work. A half a year after purchasing the coupon I asked Angies LIst for a refund which was honored.

We had the pleasure of working with Matt and his team in painting our home. They went above and beyond in getting the job done. A special thanks to Paul for painting a 3rd coat without me even asking for it. Matt provided excellent communication and doesn't keep you waiting in responding to your emails or phone calls. Matt and his team were true professionals from start to finish. After bidding it out to other companies, Matt came in with a competitive estimate quickly even after numerous changes were made after the initial estimate. He was very responsive to verify the changes and to assure me could accommodate my requests. They performed the work with true professionalism every step of the way. The painting was done beautifully and he even touched up some trim work in one of the rooms even though this was a last minute request. He did this with a smile, his crew vacuumed up, took their trash and finished the job on schedule. I'd highly recommend Matt, my husband and I were very pleased and would highly recommend him to others.

We hired Matt and his crew to paint our home prior to moving in, and from the first contact to the finished product we were extremely pleased with their services. Our home was built in 1972 and had quite a bit of wallpaper that had to be removed, in addition to almost the entire interior that we wanted painted. We were on a tight time line between our closing and moving in, and we both work full time and have two young children. Therefore, we greatly appreciated how prompt Matt was in responding to our initial inquiry and providing the estimate the same day, as well as keeping to our time line throughout the project. Matt is clearly very knowledgeable about his work and we had more confidence in his expertise than the other painters we obtained estimates from. I also appreciated that he provided us with options, and did not pressure us to do any more than we were comfortable with. We were also a bit indecisive in the beginning about which rooms we wanted done, and Matt demonstrated great flexibility as we figured it out. During the job Matt maintained excellent communication with us, which made it such a pleasure to work with him. He continually checked in with us to ensure we were satisfied with the work. Every time we stopped by his crew was friendly and professional, and they did a great job coordinating with our flooring refinisher who had to overlap with them on a couple of days. Most importantly, the end result is gorgeous!!! It truly looks like a different house. All of the walls looks great, the edges are sharp, and they did a great job protecting the hardwood floors/window hardware/wall trim from getting any paint on them. We will definitely be contacting Matt again for any painting needs, and would recommend him to anyone who needs a painter. Even if we received an estimate that was less expensive I would still hire Matt because of the high quality of his work, and the pricing is very fair for the meticulous work and professional results.

Last year, we purchased a new construction home that came painted with contractor grade white walls and an unfinished deck. A year later, following our warranty period, MRP painted all interior walls in a variety of base and accent colors and stained our deck. MRP set up a much needed consultation with a representative from the paint store who helped us with the chore of picking specific colors that fell within our predetermined palate. MRP began the work 2 weeks after the initial estimate and completed the entire house in 4 days, returning only once to do the deck after a bit of rain. They were early to the house every single day and cleaned up and straightened up any signs of work each and every day so our house was livable the entire time. The owner, Matt, was on site every day and in contact with me with any questions and updates via phone, email or text when we were not on site. The entire crew not only did spotless work that required very little touch up, they were friendly and personable. We would not hesitate to recommend them or use them in the future. Final cost was right on with the estimate.

well, being early to a job is a plus for me! Listening to the customer and making adjustments along the way, a mark of a true professional. And one less worry for me, having a WELL painted outside home to look at --- I'm a happy camper!!

I used MRP painting to do some bedroom and bathroom ceiling patch work and painting. I had a water stain in the ceiling that needed to be covered up. The entire process from estimate to completion of painting was very positive. Matt was timely with providing estimate. His estimate was reasonable and competitive. He was flexible with scheduling the painting and great with communication (email and phone). The work was completed in less than 1 day by one person. MRP covered all furniture and cleaned up when the job was done. Very happy with the work they did. I can't see the stain anymore and the paint job looks perfect. Very professional company. Definitely recommend MRP!

Our experience with Matt was excellent from start to finish. He was able to come out right away to give us an estimate and even noticed details about the job that other painters did not. Matt's crew (Paul and Dan) were punctual, courteous, and professional. They did a terrific job painting the rooms including trim, as well as some dry wall patching. Matt also did a suburb job power washing. They cleaned up everything nicely too. We would highly recommend MRP Painting and look forward to using them again in the future.

They were efficient and responsive. I cannot give a better review. If I called, the owner called back, and if I emailed, they emailed right back.. They were on time, said they would do it in three days, which they made true. They moved my furniture for me. They were complete gentlemen. They cleaned up after themselves each day they worked in my house.

He did not do a good job. He never sanded, and he left a lot of spots. The wall paper was removed, but he left a lot of the areas that he couldn't smooth out. I didn't think he was good. He did a horrible job of putting the primer. I wouldn't recommend him. We had arranged a date and he came. I had another person who is like my regular painter and he saw that room, and said that it was bad. I would not use him. I don't want him calling me. He didn't sand anything, and did not smooth anything.
