The handyman worked for four hours. The first thing I asked him to do was to sparkle and sand some holes in the walls. I requested that he do that first so that the sparkle would have time to dry so he could sand. He explained that he uses quick dry sparkle and it would be dry in plenty of time. He did not start the sparkling until he was almost ready to leave. Then he explained that the sparkle did not have enough time to dry, so he would not be able to sand. That was very annoying to me, especially because I specifically asked him to do that task first. He installed a trash can slide-out drawer that the instructions specified the installation should take approximately 20 minutes. However, the kit did not work with my trash can receptacle, so he spent a significant amount of time reading the instructions and making phone calls. He ended up going to the hardware store to buy some supplies to make it work, which in the end it did work, but he spent way too much time trying to figure it out. He charged me for the supplies he purchased, but after he left I found that he had over-purchased supplies and left them in my house. I asked him to either take back the extra supplies and refund me the excess cost or give me the receipt so that I could return the supplies, but he did not return any of my calls. He left grimy fingerprints all over the white cabinets. I would have preferred that he told me before he started that he would not be able to install the kit, rather than spending almost 3 hours getting it to work. Franks's handyman also hung a towel rack and two robe hooks. Those were fine. However after he left I noticed that he took it upon himself to move another robe hood that was previously hung because he felt that it was not hung well. I did not ask him to do that nor did I authorize it. By moving the robe hook he left two holes in the solid wood bathroom door. I called Frank and told him that I wanted him to send his handyman back to repair the holes, and he said he would. However, he stopped returning my calls and nobody ever came back. He charged for for four hours of his time, plus supplies. It was a very expensive bill for not a lot of work and for supplies he did not use. I do understand that getting the kit to work took research, but at $85/hour I would have preferred to have the choice as to whether I wanted to pay him to spend time doing the research. I think someone more competent would have been able to do it much faster. It was also very upsetting that he stopped returning calls. He never got me the estimate or the kitchen remodeling, and he never responded to my messages asking him to come back and fix the holes he made by moving the robe rack and finish sanding, or refund me for the supplies he over purchased.
Description of Work: I called Frank to give me an estimate to do some kitchen remodeling. He started working on that but never provided an estimate for the job. In addition he provided a handyman to do some odd jobs.

First I'd like to say that I really bent over backwards for this client to help her and make her happy from the very start. Id also Like to encourage my clients to Please see my other great reviews for a more accurate description of the great work and service people should expect to get from First Class Home Renovations. I was called to try and replace a granite counter top since she was unhappy with what she picked out and the builder installed I at this point was not hired but still made numerous phone calls to the builder (that threatened a law suit against her if she contacted him again) the original granite supplier, and my 2 granite suppliers to try and find a match that I succeeded in doing all of which I was not compensated for at all. This all took place over the course of a month and a half. She asked me about doing some basic handyman stuff and I told her my rate and she agreed to do the work. The basket she bought was wrong. I gave her the dimensions for exactly what was needed for an easy install but still the wrong basket was purchased. Once we saw it was wrong I gave her the option to return it and get the right one or have us modify it, She wanted it installed that day no matter what and agreed to have us modify it to make it work. I explained it would take a little longer but she still insisted she wanted it installed so we obliged. What we did works perfectly and the reason why is because it was thought out by myself and my employee and not rushed . We do not believe in doing anything half way and always want things to be done right the first time. The Client never picked out cabinets for me to base my price off of. I provided 4 cabinet brochures for her to do that. Unfortunately in life there are people that you can never please no matter how hard you try. I received texts and numerous voice mails when we my employee left the job. I responded to those messages immediately and told the client whatever issues their were id quickly resolve them the following week after the holiday ( the job took place on memorial day weekend on Friday afternoon) I started receiving texts Bullying me with threats to leave a bad review almost immediately after I said I would address everything and correct any issues the following week . Once I started receiving texts about things I already addressed multiple times I quickly realized their was no other option but to sever my relationship with this person, So I asked her to not contact me any further. I have won the SUPER SERVICE AWARD 4 years in a row in just about every category. We give all of our Clients the best service possible and cut no corners. We all have a breaking point and I reached mine. This review is filled with inaccuracies and I hope people can draw their own conclusions based on how drawn out this review is. Please see my other great reviews for a more accurate description of the great work and service people should expect to get from First Class Home Renovations. Thank You-Frank
Working with Frank and his team has been an absolute pleasure. I found him on Angie's List and he contacted me the same day that I sent him an inquiry through the website. He came out for an estimate and consultation that evening! His estimate was very detailed. While contractors from whom I previously received estimates simply eyeballed the room and through a number at me, Frank was very thorough, took measurements of every room, asked questions to make sure he was able to meet all of our needs. From there, we had a detailed estimate to me within 24 hours. His team started with the bedroom remodel. Before Frank got to work, our room was a disaster. I had ripped down the drop ceiling and wood paneling that was glued to the walls and found damaged plaster. Frank was able to rerun the wiring in the room to add a fixture to the center of the ceiling, extend and add shelving to our closet, add doors to the room entrance and closet, sheet rock the entire room, install a ceiling fan, and frame and install moldings around the window, door, and room border. This was all completed in less than two weeks. He then focused his efforts on the dishwasher. I have been agonizing over hand washing dishes for the past 3 years. Frank assured me that an 18 inch dishwasher could be installed in my kitchen if we were able to cut out a portion of the cabinet. I had the dishwasher shipped to my house, and he was able to install it in less than a day. Next his team completed the floors. When we moved into this house, we had original hardwoods that were still in good shape, but in desperate need of some TLC. I ripped up carpet on the second floor and Frank's team was able to repair and refinish the entire house in less than a week. On top of everything Frank and his team were able to do for us, they were extremely courteous, would work late into the night to make sure the job was completed properly, and even installed an additional ceiling in one of my other rooms for free! I would highly recommend Frank and his team to anyone who is looking for an honest, trustworthy, hard working company who is able to provide superior quality work at a reasonable price. I could not be happier with the result that I received from First Class Home Renovations. I will definitely be calling them in the future for additional jobs.

The results were FANTASTIC! Everything was done exactly how it had been laid out and they even finished early. Not only did i love what they did but HOW they did it. Great care was taken to prevent the dust from the renovation to get into my bedroom and other areas of the house. The team was very professional and about the best professionals I have worked with in over four homes I have had work done in. I highly recommend their work. Especially after being so drained from the first experience. I'm now asking them to do more work in other areas of my house.
Description of Work: I contacted First Class Home Renovations after another contractor botched the job to renovate my master bathroom. I had a giant scary demo area when I opened my bathroom door. Frank came in, quickly assessed the situation and made his best recommendations to fix what went awry and make it even better than originally planned. In addition to building the master bath, they helped me put a washer/dryer on my third floor and vented it in the roof.

I scheduled him to meet with someone at a rental property. The first attempt didn't work out and it was not his fault. Second attempt he did not show up in the scheduled window. Third attempt there was confusion around the appointment on both ends so this service did not take place. He called me about the review I left on Angies List. I updated it to a neutral C for now because I can't delete it. I may still utilize this service I am not sure.

First Class is really a first class outfit. They took care of everything from removing walls (kept the house spotless and covered the area in plastic each night), removing the broken pipes, replacing the pipe, and then closing up all the walls. They spackled and painted everything so you would not even know there was a repair! They even fixed the outlet that the electrician left hanging out. I highly recommend Frank and his crew. Thanks First Class!
Description of Work: We had a nightmare plumbing issue that affected our electricity, walls had to be taken out, ceilings removed, and plumbing had to be excavated and repaired on roof.
Excellent drywall repair and new flooring installation. Very responsive and professional owner. Reasonable price for all work done. Would use again.

I would highly recommend First Class again. I called him on a Friday morning and by early afternoon the job had been performed and at a reasonable price. Would definitely use in the future.
Great experience with Frank and his team. I'm very happy with my new bathroom. It is beautiful and looks like something out of a sharp hotel or spa. I purchased a lot of finishing materials myself and had them onsite for Frank (toilet, lighting, vanity, sinks, tile, paint, etc.). Frank and his team did all the skilled labor and put everything together according to a design plan I had prepared with a design group. He was willing to incorporate a rather last-minute glass mosaic element into my shower which came out great. We communicated with each other for the extra materials he would need and I ran to get them. He was also willing to source a frameless glass door for my shower and save me some money relative to my original plan. (I was originally planning to source it myself). Ask him about Dreamline doors. Overall, great job. There were some minor finishing details that I wanted corrected or revisited and Frank was willing resolve them with me. I will be using Frank again.
Description of Work: Full masterbath gut and remodel. Completely demo'd existing 8x10' bathroom. New bath layout. Installed new window, plumbing/electrical, shower stall framing, floor/shower tile, all finishing.

We weren't able to go with Frank because we had to go with the lower priced estimate which we received from another Angie's list contractor due to the lawyer being involved with our previous contractor and us not having the money to pay for Frank's proposal. However, I would never hesitate to call Frank again if I needed more work done, or recommend him to anyone else I know. The responsiveness and thoroughness was really top notch.
Description of Work: Frank gave us an estimate to fix and complete all of the shoddy work another 'contractor' did over the past four months. This included a full basement remodel, including moving a poorly planned bathroom, and some corrections to some finish work on the first floor. Frank came out the same day I called for an estimate and spent, I kid you not, over an HOUR walking through everything with me, giving me suggestions, asking questions, etc.

There is always stress involved when you are putting out a lot of money, and a bunch of strangers are coming in and out of your house everyday. But Frank and his crew bent over backwards to make it easier on us. Communication by text and phone was prompt and easy, and they always showed up when they said they would. They were professional, friendly, and always cleaned up as best they could at the end of the day. I love my new kitchen. Thank you!
Description of Work: They replaced our ceramic kitchen floor, the ceramic tiles on our walls and did some electrical wiring. They worked with another company to install granite counters. They painted the kitchen walls and enarged opening between our kitchen and dining room. They put in all of the nice finishing touches. And they were really nice to our dog.

Thanks for the great review, you were a pleasure to work for!!
We found Frank's company on Angie's list shortly after we moved from out of state and bought our new home in Philly. Since then he's become our go-to guy for a wide range of home improvements and repairs, great and small. Frank has a huge team of highly talented technicians and craftsmen on call, and they're all extremely responsive and courteous. Since we started working with him Frank and his team have: - Painted several rooms of our house - Fixed a loose concrete slab outside our house - installed a new closet in our master bedroom - installed a new toilet in one of our bathrooms - installed several new electrical and light fixtures - and half a dozen more things I'm forgetting Frank and his guys are always, clean, prompt and friendly, and are great about listening to what my wife and I want, and executing on those plans. The other thing I really appreciate is how responsive Frank is. When we had a running toilet that wouldn't stop in the house, I texted him and his colleague Ray was on his way over with 30 mins to fix it. Frank's team are great guys to have in your corner, especially if you have an older house that needs some TLC.
There were a few issues that came up with this project; eg, problems with the window, fan and ceiling -- which had to be painted 3 times. Unfortunately when I tried to address these with Frank he was very defensive and I had to basically plead with him to have him come to the home and inspect the work. He did approve repainting the ceiling -- after many texts and requests for him to come to the house to actually view the problems I noted, but the window and fan issues continue. Now he has informed me that my window is leaking b.c it is 'cheap' and needs replacing, and that I am 'making things up about the fan'... NOTE -- he hasn't even come to the house to inspect the problems raised on 04July. This is the strangest form of customer service I have ever seen. He has resorted to calling me 'difficult' to work b/c I had a problem with my last service provider. Who, for the record, cut a live water pipe and flooded two floors of my home. He was actually hired to fix those damages... He has also accused me of threatening him with bad reviews, sent several unprofessional messages and has since been blocked from my phone. Because I want to provide the most honest and accurate picture of what I have gone through with this man, I am providing photos of the text exchanges with Frank; I will allow the viewers the ability to read his messages and make up their own mind about hiring him in the future. I am not used to providers telling me: "idc" -- I don't care what you were told; or lose my number when I am trying to discuss a project issue; or being told "good luck" when I say my only other option will be to report this issue to the BBB. If Frank is not able to deal with the public in a calm and professional way, he should find a resource to speak on his behalf. I always found Craig on his crew to be professional, skillful and kind. I have informed Frank that he is welcome to report me to Angie's List for being a difficult customer and asked that he only contact me again if it is for a refund. His number is now blocked from my phone. Update: After being blocked from my phone yesterday at ~12pm, Frank began emailing my personal email address and has threatened me several times with calling the SPCA for animal abuse because "I leave my dogs in their pen when contractors are in the house"; "yell at my dogs" and apparently scruffed a cat in front of him-- unbelievable. I keep my dogs crated -- as any good pet owner does, when strangers are in the home. I have alerted the SPCA board members and the rescue community at large of his retaliatory and false accusations. In closing, I am shocked and saddened by these accusations and Frank has been reported to the police and to Angie's list for harassment. Buyer beware! If you disagree with this man, he will viciously attack you on a very personal level and subject you to hours of phone messages and emails that --- as a single woman, are VERY scary. On 07July, Officer Ramirez from SPCA came to home my home today and closed Frank's report of animal cruelty in less than 5 minutes. There are animals suffering dog fighting and serious abuse in our city and Frank used the SPCA's resources to investigate someone who has never and would never hurt any living animal. Shame on him. That officer could have been out helping animals in need. Angie's List users need to know that I am still being harassed by this man.

Unfortunately in life there are people that you can never please no matter how hard you try. Almost every job that we performed I received texts with a complaint a few days later. I addressed every single complaint in person the following day and sometimes the same day. This went on for 2 months and finally on July 4th a holiday no less I started receiving texts again Bullying me to come back along with threats of a bad review if I didn't. Any issue she had was always corrected ASAP. Once I started receiving texts about things I already addressed multiple times I quickly realized their was no other option but to sever my relationship with this person,So I asked her to not contact me any further. Once I reached out to Frank and told him what I wanted done he got me scheduled pretty quickly. On the first day of the project Frank told me he would be there at 8:30am and he showed up right on time. Before he got started I explained to Frank that not only did I need the porch column replaced but I also needed the roof raised a substantial amount to help with water flow. They didn't have all they needed since I hadn't properly explained exactly what I wanted done prior to them being on site. Frank said he would do his best to give me what I wanted and went off to get the additional equipment needed while I went off to work. At appx 3pm Frank called and said they had the column replaced and the roof had been raised and they had personally checked to ensure the water was no longer sitting on the roof. They came back the next day and finished the job and it looks great. One of the best parts was my next door neighbor, who is retired and stays at home all day, told me they were very respectful and nice to her and answered a few questions she had about her house while they were working on mine. If I need any further work done I will definitely be using First Class Home Renovations.
Description of Work: First Class Home Renovations replaced a load bearing front porch column. They also raised the porch roof as requested to ensure proper flow of water off of the roof.
Frank and his team were absolutely great. Most importantly, they do amazing work for half the price of other contractors. We got a few quotes for our various projects and Frank consistently came in well below everyone else. He is also very honest and if he thought we didn't need to do something or could do it ourselves, he would let us know so we didn't spend any unnecessary money. We were incredibly pleased with all of our upgrades; their work is first class. Frank was professional, timely and responsive. We would definitely use him again and we highly recommend him.

I have a Victorian house with windows that go floor to ceiling. This was a small job in fixing the window but it's a security risk. I contacted the company and frank got back to me the next day. We set up a time on Thursday. Frank had an emergency on another job but he let me know. We scheduled the visit the next day. I had 1 company say they didnt work on old windows and another company said they only worked on windows they made. So I figured I would try a handy man. Frank arrived on time on Friday and was able to get the window working in about 30 minutes. He was very professional and cleaned up after he was done. I'll be using him for other work on my house. He's a find.

JJ is an EXPERT painter and gets the job quickly and effectively. He whipped through the house in about 7 days, painting it from top to bottom. He did have help to paint the doors and the trim, and to move furniture, but the whole team is fantastic. JJ even worked on a Saturday to help us get the house ready before the realty photographer came to take pictures. The team is great and I love working with Frank's people!
Description of Work: We are planning to sell our house in the next few months, and Frank and his team helped us bring it to market ready. We painted our entire house (including trim and baseboards) with the exception of two bathrooms we don't really use.
