Frank and his team did an excellent job on our complete master bathroom renovation. They exceeded our expectations, stuck to their quoted amount and provided great value for the cost. We went with a Carrera marble mosaic tile floor, bead board on the walls and subway tile around our new bathtub. We would highly recommend First Class Home Renovations and will likely use them again if we need other work done.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of master bathroom.
Overall I an happy with the services Frank and his team provided. I think the thing I was most pleased with was his coming back to take care of frosting my front door, painting a small cabinet and checking an outlet even though he was already paid in full. I also liked his suggestions such as installing a pull chain light in my laundry area that didn't occur to me.
Description of Work: Frank patched and repaired drywall and replaced doors in preparation for him painting the entire condo unit.

Frank and his crew are excellent to work with. Pricing is reasonable and few things came up along the way which is typical in a home renovation. Frank had to source some other people for these but always got a fair price and handled the project management. The quality of work is outstanding. The whole crew is friendly, professional and very clean/considerate. Overall, it was a great experience as far as home renovations go. I will use them again and highly recommend to others.

Lesson learned...READ the details! If I lived in this provider's service area I would definitely use them!
Description of Work: I ended up not being able to use this service provider...my fault totally as I did not read provider's service area thoroughly! This provider does not service the county I live in. However he was professional (and kind enough) to try several different avenues to meet my needs. Very much appreciated his professional attitude and prompt response.

Frank is organized and the team has skills and talent. This four room apartment in an old Victorian house had not seen much improvement since the 1960?s so they had to tear out most of what was there to put in new wiring, walls, ceilings and floors. The electrical work was substantial, they installed recessed lighting in the kitchen and hall, new outlets, ceiling fans and ambient lights throughout the apartment. The kitchen, bath, hallway and hall closet got new ceramic floor tiles, cabinets, hardware and appliances. They gave me some good tips on materials and did more than I asked for. I had to wait to get on their schedule but it was worth it!

They were not able to make the first appointment, but they did reschedule. On the day of the appointment, he asked me what I needed done and I told him what I was looking for. I told him about an outlet that was not working and all he did was write it down. He was supposed to check all outlets for operation and safety, check all circuit breakers and electrical panels, water heater, air conditioner and furnace and none of these things were done. He was also supposed to test any alarms in the home, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors and that was not done either. He came out and was very apologetic. They did what they said they were supposed to do.

The project was pretty large it involved moving the location of the toilet and shower as well as adding a washer and dryer to a linen closet. The end results look great and you wouldn't recognize the bathroom if you had seen it before. I will try to upload some before and afters so you can see the difference.

The technicians were very friendly and helpful. They listened to what I wanted and how I wanted the dog door to be installed. Unfortunately, neither of us read the part of the instructions that listed how to measure where to place the door for the height of your dog and it ended up being a bit high for our dogs. After a follow up call from Frank and explaining that to him, he called the technician who had installed it and they thought it might decrease the integrity of the door to install it any lower than they had (how I told them to at the beginning). Also Frank brainstormed ideas with me for other solutions and we figured out that we could add a step in front of the door and that was reasonable enough for us. Overall, I was very happy with Frank's quick responses, scheduling, work as requested and genuine concern with how everything went.

Frank's team was amazing! Ray, Craig, Jay, and JJ were all fantastic. They were all kind, courteous, and you knew that they were experienced. We had a hiccup with some contractors who had previously installed a sump pump and french drain, and Frank educated us on how to deal with them as well as work with our schedule to allow the original contractors to complete some work (under warranty). We felt that Frank was our advocate and not someone out to take advantage of us.

My property for sale was vacant and I received a $400+ bill one month for water! I no longer lived in Philly and had an important meeting at work, so I was scrambling to find someone who could quickly go over and investigate. I checked Angie's List and saw that First Class Renovations has great feedback, so I took a chance and got in touch with Frank almost immediately. I explained what I thought the problem was and he was at my condo within a couple hours. He fixed the problem with no hassle and a great price given the short notice! A month or so later, I called again when my realtor told me she thought the toilet was potentially running again and without fail, Frank came over and found the issue and corrected it. I've never personally met him, but he was a pleasure to deal with over phone/text and made what could have been a nightmare a pleasant and quick experience! Would recommend him to anyone.

I am an out of state landlord and my tenant had a problem with a leaky toilet. Frank had to work out details with my tenant in terms of when they would arrive and everything went very smoothly. It was very helpful to me that Frank's crew reported that the tenant had a pest control issue, so in addition to fixing the toilet and preventing further water damage to the underlayment, they went above and beyond to report a problem that could have gotten out of hand very quickly - which saved me a lot of extra time, money and headaches!
Great to work with. Very conscientious. Showed up on time and cleaned up. Would hire them again!

All communication was done via text and email. We never met. The property is in Philly and I live in Virginia. I gave him the lock box number, he did the work, sent the bill and I paid it!
Description of Work: Tighten down bath toilet, installed electrical cover plate, installed 9 ungrounded outlets, and patched holes in garage ceiling with fire rated rock (painted).
Frank is the GO TO guy in the Philadelphia Area. If he can't do it, he'll call one of his many partners to GET THE JOB DONE IN AN TIMELY AND EFFICIENT MANNER. I have many repair guys in the past, he is the most well rounded so far hands down. He does everything with quality and care, and he is transparent about the cost and what needs to be done. His prices are fair, he clearly communicates when he is going to come to the house and even arranges with tenants for a time. I would give an A++ one hundred times. He has been my repairman for my rental property in Philadelphia for the past year and will continue to use him.
Description of Work: Frank has done multiple jobs for my rental property, a true "jack of all trades" from replacing wooden steps, roof coating, inspecting/ replacing damages before new tenant move-in, installing appliances, replacing/ fixing appliance parts, replacing front door & screen door, trash removal, furnace maintenance/checkup, masonry work, railing installation.
Frank and his workers were very professional and performed quality work. Frank is an honest guy and did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. He completed the work when he said he would, and there were no surprises. While he was there he noticed my wall a/c filter was dirty and he cleaned it as a courtesy. He also relocated my basement dehumidifier because he said it wasn't working properly where it was (also a courtesy). They were minor things, but showed me he cares about his customers. Frank is a contractor I can trust, and I will certainly hire him for future work.
Description of Work: Installed and painted drywall in living room and up staircase, replaced interior door and trim, installed ceiling fan, replaced broken ceiling tiles, and re-installed closet doors.
Frank and his men removed an old entry door and replaced it with a new wood one. They painted it. They repaired and painted a wood threshold to the door entrance and filled it with cement beneath the threshold. They replaced a door knob on another entry door. At another entry doorway, they repaired the outer door frame which had been gnawed by a squirrel at the base and painted the frame. They also replaced a foil dryer vent with a semi-rigid one. During the course of the work an oil feed line began to leak in the garage. Frank and his men contained the leak and repaired the valve. He also later came to remove some outdated metal stripping from the inner door frame where the door was replaced so that the door would close better. He also added a plastic inner door strip for better insulation.

Whether or not we should write this review has been a difficult decision to make, but the bottom-line is that the entire purpose of Angie?s List is to research the contractors we want in our home and rule out anyone we do not. It is with that in mind that we give as direct, honest, and fact-based a review as we can. First, the work itself - the work done on our house (mostly adding/replacing trim) was okay. Okay enough that, were it not for other circumstances, we would have rehired for additional work. However, if we were not in the mindset that we will be moving in the next year, perhaps not okay enough to rehire. So, just okay. Second, the price - seemed generally reasonable. Last, and the reason why would absolutely not rehire - during the course of the work being done it appears that some money disappeared from our house. We keep a large glass container in our living room where we both dump our change routinely. The bottle was almost entirely full (something we were pleased with since this is vacation fun-money). While cleaning and trying to return our house to normal after the work was done we noticed that more than half of the container was gone. The only people we had in our house had been the contractors. To be fair and clear, the owner is a polite and likeable person and made sincere apologies and offered to return some of what was taken; however, we did not accept any money and unfortunately, our peace of mind cannot be replaced. It is a strange feeling knowing that you have invited and paid someone to be in your house and they have taken advantage of you. The owner also said he questioned the crew who thoroughly deny taking our money. Unless they left our house wide open and unattended, these are the only people who had access. We have no wish to hurt the owner or his business, but we feel sharing this is important. *Updated to respond to provider response. We understand why the owner would be upset; however, his anger is misdirected. We didn't cause this nor gain anything from it and actually lost out because of it. As far as agreeing to not post on Angie's list, husband did say that in a text unbeknownst to wife. Wife would never have said that. As far as the quality of the work, we were happy to have it done, but had he asked the wife what she thought, the honest answer would have been to point additional errors on top of the one that absolutely had to be and was corrected prior to the job being finished. We had thought that the owner was professional and he did sincerely apologize to the husband at the time, but that does not change what happened. We would no longer consider the owner professional given the text messages he sent this morning (see below). We do hope he adapts a more professional view of the situation going forward and ceases contacting us. Multiple texts from owner strung together: "As things stand now your post is Slander since you cannot prove your accusations. Unless it's removed I will be contacting a lawyer. This is my business I need to defend it and I will by any means necessary. So unless you guys have cold hard proof such as being caught on tape etc. this is nothing more than slander against me and my business. If you want to go down this road I will Over change I know they wouldn't be dumb enough to take and never have before. They're both paid well and don't need to steak from a cookie jag" We have worked with several contractors over the past few years and have given them glowing reviews as well as recommended them to friends, family, and neighbors. As members of Angie's list, we consider it a responsibility to share honest and thorough reviews. How anyone reacts to this review is up to them.

This review contains several inaccuracies. First both parties were extremely pleased with our work once completed, since we were correcting all of their DIY mishaps it made for some challenging installs in certain places. Second I cut a custom threshold for them out of Oak and only charged them a measly $45 that is unheard of. Third came the bizarre 2 day later picture text of a jug of wine used to store change half full then the accusations that we emptied it. I personally worked in the house over a 4 day period and never once even saw the jug until the picture was sent to me via text. I don’t know about you but if I were accusing someone of stealing from me I think I would call them instead of just sending a pic of a wine jug with change in it. Fourth you would have to be the world’s dumbest criminal to do something so painfully obvious. Both my guys are paid very well and would never risk their job over jump change, after the accusation I told both of my guys they need to go get finger printed because I was going to have the jug dusted and both said no problem we never touched it. I told the clients this and they were just more concerned with dropping it rather than anything. This incident took place almost two months ago and to avoid any trouble and make them happy I offered them $150 cash to settle the dispute which they refused and promised to not leave a review and complimented me on my professionalism in handling the situation here is a text from the client "I get it. I am not going to post this on Angie’s list or anything so don't sweat it. You handled this like a professional and I have no intention of causing any issues with your business." I do not base my life or business on lies and inaccuracies but as you can see some people do. I believe you’re only as good as your word and I stand by that!! Please read my other great reviews for a more accurate description of our work and reputation. Choosing to say and publish things that are hateful, hurtful and cause negativity and pain toward others is never a good idea. We take any allegations of theft very seriously, and immediately did our best to take responsibility and compensate you for the lost change. We realize that the idea of a theft by someone you have hired to do work inside your home is a violation of your trust, and your privacy. Rest assured that, in addition to the $150.00 credit we offered to you in response to the allegation, we have taken significant steps to ensure that none of our other clients has reason to feel unsafe. Thank you again for your business, and we apologize for the unease that you continue to experience

Frank did a fantastic job repairing the walls and ceilings. He delivered what he promised, which is always a relief when it comes to repair work. Also, he was very accommodating to my particular needs and the date of the project. Most of all, he was very responsive (a trait hard to come by in a contractor)!
