We had a small job that we contacted DR for - they replied within a day letting us know that the job was not really their speciality and a bit too small to take on (completely understandable). Given how many non-replies you can receive from contractors or design firms, I really appreciated they took the 3 minutes to write me back and let me know instead of just not replying.

Overall the project went well and i'm very happy with my new bathroom. I used dRemodeling previously for some work in my kitchen, and also recently completed a new bathroom for good friends - so i was familiar with their work first hand. I providing verbal descriptions and visual examples from Houzz, and Devin (their designer) was able to design the bathroom I desired. It was also helpful to visit their showroom to look at some other material options in order to get the look/style I wanted and look at some different cost options (they were helpful in suggesting options to get to the right budget). I was very happy with the responsiveness (from initial contact with owner Dan and also when issues/questions arose) and quality of work performed. The project was completed roughly in the time frame they had projected (7-8 weeks) and upon completion, they included a complementary deep clean of my house which was a nice gesture. There were a few small negatives from my experience; a miscommunication regarding additional labor costs for tiling (we came to a compromise), when selecting floor tiles - wish i had been told how cold natural stone is (would have included radiant floor heating) and odd dimensions of some drawers (I should have paid more attention to dimensions in the design plan I approved). Overall though, these were small issues and the positives of the experience and finished product vastly outweigh them. Overall - dRemodeling is great to work with and the work is certainly performed well, though it was a little more expensive than other options considered. That said, it was worth to pay more for known quality, reliability and responsiveness.
Description of Work: master bathroom remodel. Old bathroom completely torn out, space reconfigured (electrical and plumbing moved) and all new cabinetry, mirrors, fixtures, toilet, tiles, drywall and shower space built out and finished.
It could not have gone better! Devin redesigned the original space to convert it into a full bathroom and a powder room that look absolutely gorgeous and, surprisingly, even spacious. We trusted the dRemodeling team from the very beginning but the final product is even better than what we had imagined! The crew that worked in the house was excellent. Even our neighbors commented on how nice and professionals they were! We highly recommend dRemodeling to anyone looking for creative ideas and quality professional work.
Description of Work: Our row house had only one small bathroom upstairs. For years, we tried to figure out how to add a powder room but we didn’t see the space for it. We came to dRemodeling to see if we could transform the bathroom and the adjacent closet into a full bathroom and a powder room.

Renovating a kitchen takes an investment in time, energy and finances. It requires a great deal of planning to get the functionality you really need, wisdom to balance what you need with what is possible, and foresight to minimize disruption. If your home is like ours, the kitchen is the center of homework, mail sorting, birthday preparations, out the door lunch packing, and the all important coffee bar. It is the focus of weekend get togethers, ground zero site of major spills, family discussions and COSTCO-sized storage games. And that’s before you even consider all the meals planned, prepped, served and cleaned up in the kitchen! The process of kitchen renovation requires the customer to choose a contractor from the hundreds available. Houzz and Angie’s List led us to DRemodeling and a few others. After interviewing several, my wife appreciated Dan’s quick responsiveness to calls and questions, and we were both impressed by their organized approach which helped us understand the scope and timing of the entire project. Our cost options were broken down so that we could clearly understand the impact of our choices. We found the biggest obstacle was designing a suitable floor plan, but this was just our challenge; yours may well be different. Devin, the interior designer who was assigned to us was a tremendous help. She was always available for help, providing renderings when helpful and suggesting changes to help fit our needs to our space. Once we sorted this out, we were able to move on to cabinet, electrical, and plumbing choices and nail down an esthetic plan. We didn’t want surprises, but we encountered them anyways: an unexpected pipe in an existing wall forced us to shift vent ducting over one joist pocket. This potentially big problem was handled easily because our contractor was our carpenter, our electrical and HVAC installer. Because DRemodeling was not just a general contractor, and only subcontracted countertops, major plumbing and gas hookups, they were able to change the design and effect the change without disrupting the overall schedule. In fact, the only delay in the entire schedule was our own fault. After the granite countertops were installed, we realized our choice of backsplash tiles were far too complicated. We ordered new ones, but they were not delivered until after the kitchen was completed. As soon as the tiles were in, DRemodeling was calling to schedule a visit, and had our kitchen finished promptly. Their scheduling of deliveries, measurement, inspections and subcontractor work was, essentially, perfect. They even made good on substandard work done by one of the subcontractors. The design team were able to locate some items at a discount, others we found on sale ourselves. We never felt pressured to purchase large ticket items through them: we were encouraged to find the most suitable product at the best price. The carpenter, painters and foreman were skilled, worked efficiently, cleaned up both as they worked and at the end of the day, and were friendly and polite. Tudor, the foreman came in on a holiday to try to get our project done on time. Billing was organized and understandable. There is a cost to getting a kitchen redone, and you get what you pay for. DRemodeling is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. They are simply valuable for the process, and a big part of the investment we made in our house and life. We are very pleased and proud of our new kitchen, and we highly recommend Dan and DRemodeling for your kitchen renovation project. Phil and Hoa Le McLean

Dan and his crew were very responsive to all my emails and phone calls. The only delay came at the very end when some of the materials need to come in and the worker in charge of my project got sick. However, Dan and his crew would notify me when the delays and when the work was to restarted. What I really liked about dRemodeling was also that it was "one stop shop". My husband And I have extremely busy work schedules so it was nice to go over the overall design and look for our bathroom and then for Dan's group to do all the interior designing and ordering materials for us. Overall, The quality of work was superb. We are very pleased with our new bathroom.

Hi! Thank you so much for taking time to write us a review! We strive to provide a smooth and communicative remodeling process with our customers, so we're glad that our "one-stop-shop" process worked in giving you and your husband that experience. Working on your bathroom was great, and we are so happy you are pleased with the results. If you ever have another remodeling project you need help with, please feel free to call us at anytime about discussing your plans. We'd love to work with your family again! Best, Dan Dragomir
We live in a 100-year old brick twin with "charm and character" (meaning design/layout options were limited to what would fit over the bare bones. Our kitchen was at least 30 years old, if not more - appliances breaking; cabinets falling apart. It was time to renew the lot. Stephanie presented a design that not only worked in our space, but also made it feel like a perfect fit. Suddenly, we had the counter space and lighting that had never existed in our kitchen before. DRemodeling worked with our budget and helped us pick out cabinets, flooring, and countertops that looked great and were affordable. The job foreman really knew what he was doing and kept the project on schedule. Attention was paid to the smallest of details. Work was done on time, as promised. All workers were very professional, and they kept the work area as clean as possible. . There is not a single thing we can complain about. Kitchen remodeling is by nature a disruptive process, but DRemodeling did all they could to keep the disruptions to a minimum and made the process as pleasant as possible.

I had read the amazing reviews here and they are indeed so true. Every aspect of the process was impeccable, design, materials, cost, scheduling as well as on the job replanning which always happens once you discover what is behind your walls. Very professional during the renovation process, minimal impact on the rest of the house. I strongly recommend them!

We worked with Devin during the design phase. She had some good ideas and we were able to squeeze a half bath in a small space so it didn't feel cramped. She was good at investigating ideas we had. Because this was a renovation for an old house, we had a number of surprises when we removed flooring or walls. Dan was able to advise on what to do and cost options. Dan was also good on providing updates and answering any questions we had. Overall, the project went well. My wife and I are happy with our renovated laundry room and are happy to have a bathroom on the first floor. I think their pricing may be a little higher than other contractors. I think they did provide quality work so this may just be a case of you get what you pay for. The only negative point I will make is regarding the charge to provide an estimate. When I first contacted Dan about getting an estimate done, he said I would have to pay $75 for the estimate. I had not heard of this before from any contractor I had worked with. The $75 would be applied to the project if I decided to work with them and could be used for consulting design time if I decided to use a different contractor. I thought this was strange because if I used a different contractor, why would I use dRemodleing for design work. I had spoken to other contractors listed on Angie's List and none really impressed me so I decided to pay the $75. When their truck showed up on the first day of work, I see on the side of it that they offer free estimates. I wasn't sure what to make of the $75 charge when it clearly says they have free estimates. In the end, it didn't matter because I used them for the project. Aside from the $75 "free" estimate, I think they did a fine job. I will consider them for any future project I have as long as they don't charge me for estimates.
Description of Work: We have an old row home in Manayunk. A previous owner converted the back porch into a laundry room. The construction was very poor. I had dRemodeling remove the old interior and then add a half bathroom and a new laundry room. We mainly worked with Dan at dRemodeling

Thank you for your A review! We are happy to see you very satisfied with your work. I understand your concern with the $75 fee - and I want to clarify few things here so Angie's list members understand our process: 1. We do offer FREE in home estimates - if you come and meet in our design center 1st to discuss your project we will discuss your needs, your expectations, and to answer any questions you have about the remodeling process in general. 2. If you choose not to meet with us in the showroom and you want a specialist come to your home for a remodeling assessment, we do charge a $75 fee - which is fully refundable if you sign with us - which was the case in your project 3. For this $75 fee - you receive: - An in-home consultation - where we measure everything, check existing conditions, look for technical challenges, and take numerous pictures to document existing conditions. We also answer any questions you may have. We consult you about the [Member Information Removed] approach for your project. - A very detail [Member Information Removed] - which includes labor cost, a work schedule for your project including: time frames, payment schedule, milestones, hourly rates for changes and cost of optional upgrades. - A good-better-[Member Information Removed] budget analysis - for finish materials - a complete list with everything needed in your project tailored for you to help you understand the cost associated with the finish materials - 1-hour consultation with one of our designers in our showroom - free of charge (A valuable asset considering we already have your measurements, pictures of your space and a survey of the home to work with. Usually we spend between 3 to 5 hours for an [Member Information Removed] - when you consider - time to [Member Information Removed] to your project location, time spent in your home, time to [Member Information Removed] back to office, time to calculate cost, and time to write proposal and send it to you. Many companies they do offer free estimates - however those free estimates are most of the time are just a 10 minute visit to your home and then a price over the phone or over the email. We believe the $75 fee from our company is very reasonable because you are getting so much compared to alternate companies and including one hour consultation with a designer (which usually is $100+) . When you spend 10k, 20k, or 50k+ on a remodeling project, what is $75 fee in having one of the [Member Information Removed] remodeling companies in the country at your home and take advantage of their expertise, you receive a good-better-[Member Information Removed] budget analyses for the finish materials as well as detailed proposal, work schedule, payment schedule, and much more. Plus you always have the option to get a free [Member Information Removed] if you invest your time to come to our design studio and talk about your project. We provide a slew of options that proved beneficial in the past. Once again, we greatly appreciate your review! - [Member Information Removed] Team

Remodeling combined our tiny kitchen and dining area into a spectacular open kitchen. Everyone who walks in loves the job that they did. Our home is over 100 years old and so there were glitches during the course of the renovation with unforeseen issues (rooms being out of square, oddly placed load bearing wall, electrical), but that happens during every project. The workers were always on time, polite and clean. We received daily updates on the course of the work and any questions/issues there might have been. When we did have a problem with the work that was done, they were quick to fix the problem and come up with a solution that worked for both parties. The project was estimated to take 6-8 weeks and it took 8 weeks. We will definitely be using them again when we start our next project.
Description of Work: They combined an old tiny kitchen with a dining space, knocking down the wall in between and installing new floors, cabinetry, island, plumbing, electrical, and all the appliances (hood, range, refrigerator, dishwasher).

My dRemodeling situation differed from most in that I pretty much already had my space gutted, my design finalized, and my items purchased by the time I met with them and signed a contract, which was mostly for the labor. Dremodeling was very helpful, though, in taking care of a few items I still needed help with, such as purchasing shower doors and a marble countertop. Basically, because my entire space was gutted, I really needed professional, experienced help in putting everything back together. Dremodeling rebuilt my space completely, from framing for a new ceiling to reworking the plumbing beneath the subfloor. They worked very hard, and did very professional work. They were very conscientious about cleanliness, and kept me apprised of all their progress. They were very respectful of my design, and made sure we were on the same page before they executed any of the work. My space was challenging in that the footprint was a bit smaller than the average master bathroom, but they did not take any issue with that fact. There were a few blips, which can be expected in such a major undertaking as this, but these mostly had to do with communication issues due to a few of the workmen’s less than stellar skills with the English language, but Dan Dragomir was always available to remedy any confusion that would arise from this. All in all, I was extremely pleased with the work they performed. The cost of the labor was very reasonable, and any additional costs due to any work completed that was not in the original contract were also reasonable and clearly spelled out. I really love my new bathroom, and would recommend dRemodeling to anyone looking for a contractor to remodel a master bathroom.

Our Master and Hall Guest bathrooms were “sloppy builder’s specials” that had aged 28 years. Both rooms desperately needed a complete re-gut and renovation. After 8 months of vetting a number of Contractors – we are very exacting – it really felt that we were never going to get our project started. We had a number of challenging requests [did I mention we’re exacting?] and we never felt 100% comfortable with the people/companies that we interviewed. This all changed from our first meeting with Dan Dragomir, and it immediately felt that we were in the right hands. He not only gave us the confidence they can accomplish the work, but he was actually ‘excited’ to take on the project – excited! His budget was detailed and clear, and he was always transparent. Our initial positive impressions of dRemodeling followed through the entire project, and with every phase and detail. The dRemodeling team met every challenge with professionalism and brilliant craftsmanship. There were a number of structural issues that required “work-arounds” or redesign, and every crew member unfailingly met the challenge - thank you Tudor, Vlad and team. Communications (phone, e-mail, F2F) were consistent, reliable and always available. His design team is first class and pleasure to work with on such large project; Devin is terrific! And just as important, the construction crew was always respectful of our home and privacy, always cleaned-up after each work-day, and we never felt any imposition. The end result? We couldn’t be happier with the renovation and our new modern bathrooms. It is so gratifying to see the design come to life and know that each step of the work was well done. Thank you, dRemodeling – we are very happy with our choice.

Our house is old and all bathrooms in the house are outdated and poky. This specific bathroom had a very small shower stall especially for my 6'5'' frame. I tried a number of recommended contractors and also quickly searched the internet. DRemodeling was the only company I found that in my opinion had credible positive reviews and hardly any negative feedback so I decided to try them out. Although in general I have pretty low opinion about internet based reviews and generally don't trust it too much (restaurants are the worst). However, in this case I am very glad we went with Dan's company. What made all the difference is is the design options Dan offered when visiting us at home. He straight away saw what others never even considered. He offered to entirely move the location of the shower stall which allowed to at least triple the size of the shower whithout making the wrest of the room feel smaller. The company also offers designer services as part of the whole package and it was very useful for us because both me and my wife have very limited ability or passion for home improvements. But the end result would definitely be acceptable even to most discerning customers. But again we are not real suckers for fanciful materials and design and prefer aesthetic simplicity. But I am sure Devin (designer) is capable to accommodate a wide range of needs in this department. Dan's labor estimate was very close to estimates I received from other trusted contractors (one of them is actually a neighbor who is less friendly after this). All the guys working for Dan were great and my schnoodle thought a world about them. To make long story short I and my wife are really enjoying this bathroom and only regret that we didn't renovate it long time ago. We are also planning to renovate our second bathroom soon.

We really enjoyed working with dRemodeling. One of the things we most appreciated is the "one-stop" shopping for the entire job. Devin and the design team are very good at understanding and interpreting your vision and suggesting options for everything from fixtures to floor tiles. We also liked the way the project timeline for the entire job is laid out before work even begins, so you always have a sense of how the project is moving along. Once work started, the crews came in early in the morning, and when they left, we could always see that progress had been made. There were workers in the house vitrually every day, even on occaisional weekends, in order to stay on schedule. Most importantly, the finished product was fantastic. The transformation from our old outdated space, to a bright beautiful new kitchen has made it our favorite room in the house!

The company didn't show up when scheduled. Had to make 2nd appointment after finding out I couldn't get my money back per Angie's List policy. When the person came out he created 2 options for each room. A more practical option and a upscale option. The bathroom rendering was fine but the things I said and where I wanted things placed were not represented in the remodeling of the kitchen. We went to their showroom to find out a price range and our options. The showroom and the presentation were totally unorganized. The contractor person who knew the pricing wasn't there and they had to send pricing to us later by e-mail. We didn't do anything with either the kitchen or bathroom but if we would we wouldn't use this company.

Hello , Thank you for taking the time to write this review here. I had problems locating your file as you wrote this review after more than 3 years. I am sincerely sorry that you had a negative experience with dRemodeling. This bad experience you seem to have was not for any remodeling services we provided and mostly is caused caused by you misunderstanding the remodeling process and what that big deal from 3 years ago included Indeed we missed an appointment with you and we regret that. We did apologized at that time and we even sent an email to let you know that we will not come . Beside the missing 1 appointment I think we delivered everything you paid for . A designer came to your home , we discussed everything , we took photos , measured everything .. We developed few options including renderings and materials selections and asked you to come to the office to review everything .. Within the home visit , traveling time , drawing and showroom appointment we dedicated a lot of time of your project. Our renderings were excellent and even if the kitchen design did not accommodate everything you wanted this is why you came to our office - to review design, materials and make changes. D-Remodeling is awesome. I first met them when they installed a kitchen island for me. They were so clean and professional that I asked them for an estimate on our 2 full bathroom renovations. I felt their rates were fair and I loved that they would procure all of the materials for me -my husband and I both work fulltime, so this was an added plus. Devin was our designer. She had us go on Houzz.com and Pinterest and share with her what we liked. She then put the design together for us - we did all of through email and she was very responsive - we could easily sent 2-3 emails back and forth in a day. She was also very available by phone - email was just easier for me. The team showed up on the first day, laid down drop clothes and cardboard to protect my floors and also put up dust protectors on the bathroom door - which was key to keep my bedroom clean since we had to sleep there at night. They had a key box and let themselves in and out and I never was nervous about them being unsupervised by me ? they cared for my house just as I do. 2 total bathroom renovations. Renovated our Master bath and guest full bath - took both down to the studs and then created 2 beautiful bathrooms. $40k was labor and materials - we had them purchase all the materials - labor only was $24k total for both. The worker are extremely professional and know their craft. They take great pride in the work and I am thrilled with the results. I have recommended them to friends and will continue to. Dan the owner is great. He is always available for a quick chat for questions. I was always nervous about using contractors, but after working with D-Remodeling, I now know I have partner with them long term.

Extremely well. Dan came out to do the estimate, was very professional and punctual. He was prompt in getting us a quote, which was very professionally done, and helping us set up a design consult with Devin (the designer), who definitely had a great command of the available products and a great sense of style. Having the showroom and design consults were a huge plus as it made it very easy to locate the products and style elements we were looking for. The products were ordered promptly and once work was started the project tool something like 9-10 weeks, and we had expected longer. Having their own architect and engineer also made the whole process very smooth. The crew were great, very respectful of the rest of the house and there was a great effort to keep everything clean. Dan kept us informed with developments in the project. The only hiccup was that an extra section of countertop that we anted to complete a breakfast bar peninsula had accidentally not been ordered with the remainder of the countertop material. Once we got the order in it may have lead to a slight elevation of the cost, but the were great about trying to secure additional discounts, and promptly returning for the install. Even with this event, we were still well within our expected budget for a high end kitchen, and still within our expected time frame. We are definitely going to use DRemodeling again, likely for bathroom projects in the coming years, possibly a basement as well.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen renovation including demolition of old cabinets and removing 1.5 walls, masonry to expand a doorway and close up a window, tiling, new cabinet install, new appliance install, relocating gas lines and small relocation of HVAC ductwork. dRemodeling did an excellent job on our projects. They helped with the planning and design, ensuring that everything would turn out the way we wanted. The workmanship was very good. They did everything they could to minimize the dust and dirt in the house. Very pleased with the final result.

The workers were very professional & took pride in their work. My biggest fear was that it would take a long time (several months) to complete. No problem there. I think the project took about 3 1/2 weeks & I can see that no short cuts were taken. They did a beautiful job! My neighbor was really impressed with the design and workmanship. The whole project went pretty smoothly. Yes, there were some minor problems, but corrections were made immediately. Dan (the owner) went out of his way to please me. The only big problem I had did not involve them. The dishwasher leaked after it was installed. Turned out it was defective. dRemodeling uninstalled the defective dishwasher (the store refused to do it, because they didn't install it) & installed the replacement. I would like to add that they tried to keep the rest of my place as clean as possible. At the end of the day, they always cleaned up any dirt made in the kitchen. I now have a kitchen that I am really enjoying. I plan on using dRemodeling again to renovate my master bathroom.
Description of Work: My kitchen was completely renovated. After discussing what I wanted & needed, a floor plan was designed. I live in a condo (with a small kitchen), therefore I couldn't start moving appliances & knocking down walls. Devin come up with a beautiful design that increased my cabinet space & gave me a kitchen that I love! She was very patient & worked with me until I had the exact kitchen designed I wanted. She also helped me with a number of selections (ex: cabinets, hardware, paint color, etc.). She told me where I should go to select my counter top, backsplash & flooring. The salespeople were very knowledgeable & were great in helping me with my selections.

This project was over a year ago but we are long overdue to recognize dRemodeling for their excellent work (we had one baby during the project and another recently so we have been busy!). We live in a 25yr old 3-story townhouse in the graduate hospital neighborhood of Philadelphia. The original master bath was poorly laid out, grungy, and falling apart. We hired dRemodeling to do a complete gut and remodel of the master bath. We got cost estimates from 2 contractors that were very close, and we ended up choosing dRemodeling. To start, Dan came out to the house to measure the room and take pictures, and then shortly thereafter sent us quote with a range of prices depending on various options (based on what would be installed and the quality of materials to be used). Then, we talked to one of dRemodeling' s interior designers regarding layout and materials. We already know the materials we wanted to use (we were borrowing from a friend's project), and we worked with dRemodeling on the layout. One of the things that impressed us the most about dRemodeling was the cleanliness of the work crew. Before starting any work (and any time they ever came to the house), the crew laid tarps covering any part of the floor that they would be walking on. The crew installed a sealed plastic panel over the bathroom door and draped the area around the door in plastic. During demo, everything was bagged in the bathroom before being carried out through the house. The plastic panel kept any mess contained to the work area. The crew always cleaned up after themselves, and we never had to clean up after dRemodeling. We took this for granted at the time, but we have since dealt with contractors (not dRemodeling) that have left us holding the (garbage) bag hours after the work was done and the crew had left! Another thing that impressed us about dRemodeling is their willingness to do things right and take care of the job even after the job was over. For example, during the project, the vanity lights were installed upside down, which included patching the drywall and painting. We let dRemodeling know and they came out, cut new holes in the wall, flipped the lights, and patched the original holes no problem. After the job was done, the train-style towel rack was drooping. We had approved this item during the project, but it ended up being of poor quality. We ordered a new one, and dRemodeling sent their team out to install it no questions asked. (there are more examples, these are just two) We are very happy with the way the project came out. These are the pictures: http://www.dremodeling.com/portfolio/Modern-Marble-Master-Bath-Retreat-/76/. The project was not cheap, but we did choose to use expensive materials (marble, tile, all glass shower enclosure, custom blinds, fixtures, etc), and we also had dRemodeling install an exhaust fan (there was no exhaust fan originally in the master bathroom) and replace and re-pipe an exhaust fan in the guest bathroom (this was the only thing dRemodeling did in our guest bathroom at the time). And we will always be willing to pay for excellent customer service, which we got from dRemodeling. The cost listed above is total project cost, that might not be the total cost paid to dRemodeling (hard to remember exactly after a year). No contractor and no remodeling job is ever perfect, but all in all our project with dRemodeling was very positive, and over a year later we still love the bathroom - it might be our favorite room in the house! We would definitely recommend dRemodeling for a new bathroom.

In summary: The price was competitive. The work got done. The work was done slowly, and required a substantial pressure to keep it moving. The quality of the work was generally poor. His staff was generally nice & considerate. Their office staff was very responsive & nice. I would not use their design services, though, as they don't think too hard about what they are doing and we would have been stuck with several bad decisions had we not hired our own designer. Once the job was done I got many follow-up and marketing calls / emails from them. I thought this was odd, because they never addressed the unfinished work or the work that I said was done poorly. Dan came in with a competitive quote, which they quickly tried to increase when the work began (which isn't out of the ordinary). He clearly sent his "B" crew to do the work. They were disorganized, unresponsive, and despite detailed plans & instructions, they constantly departed from plan. They paid little attention to detail. A counter top was installed crooked (Dan informs me that this was done by a sub, not by them). New walls are noticeably not plumb or square. All trim & painting was very sloppy. They tried to re-install door trim that they chewed up when first removing. Tiles were installed crooked (and some patterned tiles installed in the wrong direction). Mis-measured fridge, so the opening left for it was too small. They tried to "patch" a hole from a closed off back-yard entrance with paneling that clearly didn't match. List goes on. Some got fixed. Most couldn't or didn't. These items were all obvious & communicated to them regularly, but they just stopped showing up & responding. They didn't remove all their construction trash. They left a mess in the basement, including electrical wiring that they disconnected but did not remove. They even left some tools and supplies behind. I should have withheld final payment, but I just wanted them to get out oft there by the end. Why only a C? They did get the job done, and I think I got what I paid for. I don't think you can dip below the median quote cost and expect to have the work done well. We are now doing another $70K worth of work on the house with another contractor, who is a bit more expensive, but the quality and communication is a world apart. That is why this review is so late - I logged in to leave a good review for the new contractor.

I was surprised to see this negative review after two years after the work was completed especially because many of the issues that he mentions here were never communicated to us when we did the work and based on our records we addressed everything on client punch list. As a contractor and business owner I know that no matter how much you try, you cannot satisfy each of your clients. However I am happy to say that 99% of our completed projects are VERY satisfied with the dRemodeling experience – as you see from all the reviews we’ve had on Angie`s list or any other review site. I did contact the client after seeing this review and talked with him. I also want to clarify a few facts for Angie`s list users as I believe his review is not quite accurate. 1) Client said that he hire his own designer – and he does not recommend us for the design work – however for this project he did hire dRemodeling for design and he used our Licensed Register Architect + our kitchen designer and he purchased the cabinets from dRemodeling – Is true that during design process - he drawn up his own cabinet layout – and he sent us exact dimensions for cabinets, spacing, depths, heights and widths. He was very specific with what he wanted but also his design and requests caused issues in the cabinet layout and we had to modify many of the cabinets on jobsite to fit within space. 2) He is blaming us for the counters been crooked. We were not involved in the countertop selection or fabrication or installation. The only thing we did was send prices request to SEVEN local fabricators and presented all prices to client – and he ended up selecting the lowest price and we went with that company. 3) The job took longer than we originally estimated indeed but most of this was caused by a really bad winter. There was no access to the client’s home without the roads being plowed. Also while we were working, we had several power outages forcing us to not come to his project. Also, some of the materials that client ordered from internet were not on job site when needed. 4) Client is saying that we quickly try to increase our competitive price. This is misleading as the project cost increased because the client asked for additional work that was not in the scope of the work. Is been two years from the project and I do not remember all the aspects of this project but I looked at our emails and I do not have any records of the items he is mentioning here including in the final punch list that client sent ... After seen this review here I spoke with the Client and I will continue be in touch with him- We already offered to send a technician to check everything and if needed to send a team free of charge to address any of the issues he presented here. I wanted to add a kitchen ventilation system, I contacted the email provided and Dan Dragomir responded and asked me for pictures and details about the house? and sent me a price quote. Since he wanted more pictures,? I sent him more pictures of the house and details and asked him to let me know if he was interested in the job. He simply never responded. I am fine with any kind of response letting me know that he is not interested in a smaller project or whatever the reason may be, but to not respond at all is very unprofessional.

Dear Client , - Even if you contacted us for a service that we do not offer unless is part of a complete kitchen project - I responded to 5 of your 6 emails giving you technical solutions and price ranges for the work you wanted. My time and expertise is VERY valuable however I was trying to help you to find the best solution FREE OF CHARGE. I responded to each of your questions and asked for more information when needed in order to HELP YOU . When you sent your last email I was in vacation - and I only seen your email when I got back in the office Your F review was posted within days from not hearing back from me - even if by that point I answer all your emails - and even with an F review that we did not deserve I did contacted you back to follow up and see what happen with your hood and if you managed to vent it outside . My experience with dRemodeling was very positive. I bought a row home knowing it would be a fixer upper but it ended up needing to be completely gutted and required a lot of structural repairs. Dan originally came to my property to submit a bid, and when we talked about the extensive structural work to be done, he got back to me a few days later saying that he wasn't comfortable with the needs of the project - honesty I appreciated. I asked him to ballpark what that work might cost just so that I could gauge the costs of the other bids I was receiving, and he took the time to itemize the cost for various parts of the job, knowing he likely wouldn't ever do work with me. I then hired an engineer and a contractor who ONLY does structural repairs, then had Dan come back and bid for the remainder of the work. I chose D.R. to complete my project after getting 2 other bids. D.R. was not the cheapest, but I felt I was getting the best value and felt very comfortable with Dan personally. I worked with two D.R. designers to lay out my kitchen and bathrooms, place lighting, pick materials and quantities. The design process was very good. Once work began, everything progressed quickly. The scope of my project was larger than D.R. usually takes on, but Dan managed the many moving pieces well. The work D.R. performed included: - lots of demolition, including removal of many layers of old subfloor - sistering termite eaten floor joists - correcting bowed ceiling joists; corrected a sloped floor, replace subfloor - drywall whole house, spackle, sand, prep for painting - frame from scratch the master suite; adding closets, doors, moldings, trims - complete home re-wire - 90% of the house has new plumbing - installed baseboard radiator heating - installed hardwood floor - completely redo two bathrooms (stone tiles, plumbing, electric, etc) - full kitchen redo; cabinets counters, marble backsplash, install appliances - install glass sliding door to the patio A word on Dan's materials suppliers and subcontractors. I was 100% happy with Craig Bickings the electrician; he is a class act. Dan's granite guy was the cheapest by far for the product I chose, which was a Caesar stone quartz product; the counters are flawless. Dan's carpet guy was the best value I could find; beating out Avalon flooring by a wide margin. Dan's custom shower glass guy was $400 cheaper than the next lowest bidder, all while providing thicker glass and better hardware. I have no doubt that if Dan recommends you use a certain person for work like this, that this person will be the best out there. Materials costs, as well, were cheaper than I could find by looking all over the internet and the city. Dan says he passes his discounts on to his customers and this is obvious, especially for the cabinets, marble, and hardwood I selected. Other positive thoughts on the process: 1) Dan and his designers were very accommodating of my indecision. We worked through many floor plans and design ideas, not to mention material selections. The bathroom vanities were ordered and when they came I wasn't in love with the finish, so D.R. worked with the supplier to exchange for another product (no cost to me). 2) When the job was done, my punch list of finishing requests was lengthy and meticulous. Dan's workers came out multiple times to work on the list. In the end, everything looks great. 3) My budget got tight so I asked Dan to credit me back for painting the whole house, which he did and I did not think he credited me a below-market rate for that work. Some negatives. 1) There were permit issues before the work started. The City Inspector put a stop work order on my property for not having the correct paperwork in place when work started. This caused a month's delay. Not a huge deal and likely par for the course when gutting a home in center city. 2) at times it was difficult to communicate with Dan. Phone calls were answered /returned around 50% of the time, though email replies would come quickly. 3) the cost reviews Dan sends were at times inaccurate and definitely not a good way to project for the total cost of a project as big as mine. Likely this is not a problem at all with a simple kitchen rehab. 4) Move in was delayed by a week because some necessities were not completed on time. That said, Dan's crew was working very hard to make my move in as painless as possible. 5) There were a few design elements that Dan's workers made executive decisions on which I didn't love; specifically the quality of doors purchased and the appearance of the stair railing installed. I would have preferred to make (or approve) those materials selections when needed. In sum, I had a very good experience with D.R. In spite of some of the negatives mentioned, Dan was very cooperative in correcting any and all issues we came across as the project was being completed. Dan never avoided an issue if I raised it, and would make sure that issues were corrected before moving on. I approached this project never having done any rehab work before (this is my first home), and I believe Dan guided me through the project as well as could be expected. I would absolutely hire D.R. again for a job of any scale. Many thanks go to Dan and everyone involved - my home is truly beautiful and I know it will last for many years to come.

Hello, and THANK YOU for this positive review on Angie’s List. This project was much larger and more complex than our average remodel, but with a lot of planning and coordination we are ecstatic to hear that you love the final product. It was great to work with you and we appreciate the feedback you provided. With any rehab project, you can expect issues to arise. Due to our experience working in the city of Philadelphia, we were able to anticipate many of these issues and resolve them before they became real problems however. We do our best to keep you (and in return, us!) happy and safe throughout the entire process. In regard to some concerns you mentioned: this is very helpful and I will make sure we learn and improve our services in the future based on your feedback. With almost every project there will be things that don’t go according to plan, but ultimately we always try to keep your interests in mind and are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that you are happy with the finished product at the end of the project.

We used Dremodeling first back a couple years ago for our kitchen reno. We live in Center City and have the challenges of most families who live in the city (space limitations, storage limitations, parking limitations, etc). We had a plan drawn up that completely rearranged our kitchen layout - moving gas lines, water lines, exhaust in particular. Dan and his team never flinched. The kitchen turned out as nice as we could have expected. Throughout the process, as with any reno, there were hiccups. Dremodeling took these all in stride, not only having the professionalism to deal with us (we are both working professionals with 2 children under the age of 6 at the time - and hey, we were without a functional kitchen), but the know how to overcome the obstacle without significant extra money or time. In the end, the timeline was a little longer than what we had been initially told, but we were and still are delighted with the result. More recently, we brought Dremodeling back to renovate our master suite (bedroom and bath). This was a complete reno down to the studs (like the kitchen) but (unlike the kitchen - first floor) this suite was on the top floor of our standard row home. Again, we had plans drawn up prior but did use Dan's office to help us with some of the details, such as the bedroom built-in cabinets. Again, the result was exactly what we had wanted. And although the room being renovated was on the top floor, they took the time to set-up tarps every morning and took them down every evening prior to leaving, providing as little distraction into our lives as possible. And that brings up another point - we trusted these guys explicitly. They had a key to our house, did all their work while we were out of the house, and even worked while we were on vacation (they activated and deactivated our burglar alarm for us). Now that the job is done, we still call Dan for small issues that have come up - he always is responsive and efficacious. We are looking at other parts of our house to redo and will certainly call Dan again.

We are pleased that your second remodeling experience with us was a positive one! With any remodeling project, and any remodeling company, there will be some setbacks or issues to resolve. Our clients' peace of mind comes from their trust in dRemodeling to resolve the problem to the clients' utmost satisfaction. We do not quit until the job is completed to perfection.
Excellent experience from start to finish. Dan and his crew (Hi Cheyane) did an excellent job. I interviewed 4 contractors to finish my basement in my Philadelphia room home. Prices were all in the same ball park between 15-20K. Dan came out, took measurements, discussed my vision for the basement and promised to get back to me soon. BIG PRO: DAN and his team always, always got back to me promptly whenever I called or left messages. One big pet peeve of mine is when you leave a message for a contractor and it takes them 3 days to return your call. You will never have that issue with DRemodeling. some one always got in touch with me with 24 hours of my question or leaving a message. After getting back to me, I decided to go with his company based on him coming nearest to what I wanted for my basement. He probably was the 2nd highest in price but he was within my budget. next I was introduced to the designer cheyane, she is the one who I had most direct contact with as she is the one who help with me picking out modeling, panels, paints etc. great service. Once again I felt she was patient and professional. I would call her all the time after visiting home depot and lowes with new ideas. workers in the house were also great. respectful, courteous and willingly discussed any spur of the moment questions or concerns I had. The only issue we had was toward the end, the carpet installer Dremodeling had was not the best, kept calling out for the schedule carpet installation. lol, Dan ended up using the installing that I had given him from the carpet store. Next summer I'm continuing my home remodel with the kitchen. Dremodeling will be the first company I call
