I would like to send you pictures oif our cabinents after 6 weeks. you would be appalled. how can I send them? please put him on the bottom of your list. since I told friends who were going to call him not to. 27,000 dollars and chipped, poor quality cabinents. we trusted and were stung
Description of Work: dan did 2 bathrooms for us and we were pleased. we got his name from your list. we interviewed several contractors and chose him.. the other jobs went very good if not excellent. work completed and some problems that were fixed. he gained our trust and we believed he would give us the same excellent work. we were wrong. we told hi9m aproximayely what we spend. the floor remained, no new appliance and we paid extra for the fixtures. He drew up plans anbd showed us 2 pictures of cabinents we could choice to stay in our budget. we had solid cabinets that werer aprox 30 years old and we asked if he thought we should refinish or strip and paint. He encouraged us to pick one of the 2 pictures. we believed since we went for the best in 2 bathrooms, the quality would be excellent so we picked the picture we liked. fast forward to the day they finished. there were several chips or scratches that took off the veneer. dan told us that always happens when cabinents are put in. about a week later I left him a note saying the chips and scvratches were bad. is there something to put on the cabinents to stop this. no response. now 6 weeks and the cabinents look worse then the old ones. I asked for a new drawer and sent picturers. his response was no. I would like to send you pictures of our 6 week old cabinents that were scratched on the first day. the quality is awful.

I am really sorry to see this customer so upset and writing a negative report about the excellent work that we did for her. In three years, we completed two bathroom remodeling projects and one kitchen remodeling project for this customer. We put a lot of passion and hard work into all of these projects, and the customer expressed to us that she was more than happy with all three. We received many thanks praising our work and professionalism for all of the projects. On her last project, we demolished the existing kitchen, removed a wall to open up the kitchen, installed granite counter tops, added new stainless steel appliances, created a peninsula, provided new electric and plumbing, a new pantry, and more. The cost of the entire kitchen remodeling process was about $27,000: including labor, construction materials, granite counter tops, cabinets, tiles, backsplash , light fixtures, some of the appliances, accessories, and finishes. The client original wanted the 30 year old cabinets painted but we later decided that it was better to have new cabinets. When we talked about the cabinet selection, we gave her options for different cabinet manufacturers – from custom cabinetry, to stock cabinets from local suppliers. She selected the least expensive option from a local supplier – all wood cabinetry with 1/2" plywood ends and a solid wood drawer front. Everything went fine, and we finished the kitchen. The customer raved about the final result, and was very happy with the quality of work and final appearance of the kitchen. Several weeks later, she contacted me about some chips in the wood cabinets. I told her that I would do my best to correct this issue, and that the problem was not related with our craftsmanship but to the manufacturer's product. I contacted the manufacturer to see what they had to say about the problem. After the manufacturer reviewed pictures of the damaged drawer and the chips, they decided that it was not a manufacturer defect, but was just wear and tear. I copied the customer in all of my correspondence with the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent the client a correction kit for the scratches. The customer was dissatisfied with this resolution and blamed us for the scratches that appeared on the drawer 6 weeks after they had been installed. I explained to my client that the scratches were not related to the installation work that we performed, and that these scratches could appear for many reasons including accidentally bumping or hitting the cabinets with any hard object. Usually, the use of a correction kit can hide small scratches in cabinetry, but the customer was not interested in even trying this option. We had a great relationship with this client, and wanted to do everything to resolve the issue. After seeing her so upset, I offered to pay for a new drawer, even though our company technically was not responsible for the scratches on the drawer. I am very disappointed to see this negative review here. Our company's craftsmanship and installation work is not to blame for scratches that appeared six weeks after the completion of the project. Additionally, I did everything in my power to correct this issue, from contacting the cabinet manufacturer and asking for a replacement, suggesting the use of the correction kit, and ultimately offering to pay for a new drawer.

First, I am a novice at home rennovation. This is my first major rennovation. You have to know the whole process is dusty! lol Omgoodness. I also want you to know that when I first call Dan, I received an immediately response and appointment. I told him everything I wanted to do to my house which included my kitchen, basement, porch, hvac. I am doing the rennovation in stages however and decided to install the HVAC and remodel the basement first. Dan provided me with a proposal within 2 days after our meeting which was impressive. 1. I received the most comprehensive proposal from Dan. No one else did that. The costs were consistent. There was an extra cost to remove mold from the ceiling. There was an extra cost to update electrical which I actually thought was in the proposal to bring my electric up to code. But it was not an outrageous amount so I didn't bark about it. 2. I initially thought the proposal price was alot UNTIL I saw alllllllll the work involved. They earned every bit of what I was charged. 3. His team was nice and professional. He has a great carpenter, plumber and tile installer. Really, everyone was every good at what they did. So no complaints with his team. 4. The only thing I would have changed was a little more advanced notice on how much tile I needed so I could have been more cost effective. This is particularly true with the bathroom shower tile I needed. I initially thought I need 14 or 21 square feet of shower tile so I picked a pricey tile. I then learned I needed double+ and then the tile became PRICEYYYY! I had locked myself into that style based on the sink I purchased. I didn't have time to find an alternative tile. If I had more time, I still may have chosen the same tile however. I am geometrically challenged. A person who is not probably would not have this issue. :-) 5. The process was to take 23 business days, but it actually took 43 business days to complete everything. A little of the delay was getting my bathroom shower tile and getting the stair railing which is hot. I guess this normal in the rennovation world. I plan for Dan/deremoding is going to rennovate my kitchen. I will make sure I know square feet for the countertops, backsplash and floors in advance so I can be cost effective in my choices. I recommend dremodeling and welcomed people in my neighborhood to come and look at their work.
Description of Work: 1.Installed HVAC system, with removal of radiators and installing ducts. 2. Remodeled basement which included complete demotition, adding bathroom(plumbing lines)and laundry room(plumbing lines), built new stairs, installed new stair rail. 3. install tankless water heater,

Dan was very professional, They were prompt and courteous. Dan was very accommodating and easy to get hold of by phone and email, truly went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel comfortable, a true professional. Their quote was much better then others and did much more then expected. Would use again and refer them to others for sure.
Description of Work: Dan and his crew did a complete renovation to my elderly dads house. a new kitchen, shed, bathroom, remodeled the full basement from floor to ceiling including completely removing old floor and tiles, leveling the floor before installing new wood and tiles in kitchen, bath, shed and cement and tiles in basement...removal and installation of new walls, cabinets. lighting, updating of electric to code with newer fuse box, redoing outside porch floor, railing, and roof. patched and painted entire inside of house and much more....Dan was very accommodating and easy to get hold of by phone and email, Dan is very quality oriented and makes sure everything is one the right way, not the easy way. we were very happy with the results in workmanship and price....whatever we asked for he did his best to do...Thank you very much Dan.

After much discussion my sister and I decided that because of the uncertainty of our economics that we needed to hold on to this money for more pressing issues that may arise since we have no other resource from which to draw and we're both on fixed incomes. If we're able to in the future we would love to work with Dan.
Description of Work: Dan responded quickly we scheduled an appt via email and kept his appt as agreed and of course was on time. He listened to our needs and a few days later provided the plans exactly as we wanted and in fact would have love to have. The proposed changes were: - Remove existing sink, toilet, washer and dryer .  Remove existing floor and walls as necessary for the scope of work  Install new plumbing lines for new layout . Install hot and cold water for shower. Install shower drain. Relocate plumbing and electric as necessary for new stackable washer and dryer.  Install new shower stall with glass enclosure  Install new ceramic tiles on floors.  Install ceramic tiles on shower walls.  Grout the tile on all walls. The client will view samples to determine the color.  Install bathroom fan  Dispose of all remaining debris and clean up the job site. The price for the bathroom renovation work did not include the cost of any finish materials (tiles, fan, shower stall, toilet, washer, dryer)

We hired Dan after interviewing a few different contractors. We had no architect or designer, and some vague ideas of what we wanted. Dan wasn't daunted by the 100+ yr-old house, nor our lack of details. His enthusiasm and obvious knowledge of his business, along with his ability to envision what we thought we wanted made him an easy choice. Dan is very professional, and accommodating, and uber polite. Such a pleasure to work with. That was also true of all of his men. In particular, Tudor and Vlad took such care with all the details of making the kitchen a showplace. Our kitchen is small by some standards, and peculiar in the number of doorways and windows it has - all of which made it a tough job to reconfigure. Tudor frequently headed off disasters by thinking ahead and explaining why something couldn't be done, or had to be done another way. Care was taken to try to keep the house as clean as possible during construction, though that is nearly impossible. The men arrived every morning, on time, and ready to work. And everything was left neat and tidy when they'd finish in the late afternoon. The bathroom was estimated to take about 2 weeks, and it took 3, but mainly due to the glass installer making some big mistakes. The kitchen took exactly 8 weeks. We had to wait a few weeks for some finishing details, after they moved on to their next job, That would be our only complaint. We couldn't be happier with the finished products. The bathroom and kitchen both look like magazine ads! We marvel at them every day, and we'll hire Dan and his great group of guys again, if and when we have additional work we need done. We'll also enthusiastically recommend him to our family and friends. With the horror stories of working with contractors (our own included), we feel very fortunate to have found Dan!
Description of Work: Dan and his skilled team worked simultaneously on remodeling our full bath and our kitchen. The bathroom had an old claw-foot tub that just wasn't practical as the only shower in the house. We had a beautiful walk-in shower built. And the kitchen had virtually no counter space and needed a complete overhaul. $40,000 was his quote minus all materials we chose. He came in right on quote. Materials and appliances etc., added to the cost. Final cost was $75,000 due to our choices.

This was my first full rehab job and I could not have picked a better contractor than Dan. In the beginning when I was getting quotes Dan was by far the most professional, he was the only one to show up with a camera and had a detailed break-down estimate for me that same day. His quote was reasonable an in line with some of the other quotes I had received from contractors that seemed much less professional. Dan was the most responsive and punctual contractor I've ever had the pleasure of working with, my emails and phone calls were returned usually within the hour. His workers were always on time and there was never an instance when someone didn't show up. All my questions and concerns were answered promptly and when any problems occurred on the job site I was notified before any new work was done. Dan was extremely thorough with his paperwork detailing exactly how much everything cost so that there was never any doubt about where my money was going and no hidden or inflated charges for labor or materials. This was a major project rehabbing an old south philly rowhome that had been allowed to fall into disrepair. There were major problems with electricity and plumbing, once Dan and his team got started they discovered additional structural problems that were addressed at no additional cost to me. During the project we decided to add certain things that were incorporated into the rehab with no problems. For such a large project, the work was completed incredibly fast, there was not a single day when someone from his team was not working. Everything was completed to my exact specifications and I could not be more pleased with how it turned out. I highly recommend dRemodeling for all your contractor needs and plan to use them on all my future projects.
Description of Work: This was a complete rehab job, most of house was gutted and rebuilt. Installed central air and new windows. Converted a window in one of the bedrooms to a door for roof access. Installed brand new bathroom and kitchen. Laid new pipe and converted closet into ground floor powder room. Installed new door, drywall, flooring, and tile. Completely rewired the house with new electric. Built closets in the bedrooms. Installed new laundry system in the kitchen. Removed awnings and painted the exterior back of the house.

Experience with Dan was great. He is professional, courteous and quick. Though we didn't use him for the job, all of my communication with him, via email, phone and and in person, was great. He is responsive to emails and phone calls, and it seems he would do a great job. He called when he was running late due to traffic, arrived exactly when he thought he would (he even beat me back to my house!), and he spent time with me discussing the job and measuring the bathroom for the job. He emailed me a detailed estimate the next day, and we went back and forth via email regarding minor changes. Each time he was responsive, respectful and overall extremely easy and pleasant to work with. In the end we did not end up using Dan but I would absolutely contact him again for an estimate for a future job. I'm sure we would have been very pleased with his work.
Description of Work: We are remodeling our small (4' x10') master bathroom and I contacted Dan Dragonmir of dRemodeling for an estimate. We live in a 1923 house that has a 1980s red marble glammed-up bathroom that we hate. Since we have a leak in our shower that drips down to the foyer, it's a great excuse to have the bathroom gutted and redone! We are having the bathroom renovated in keeping with the style of the home, with subway tile, hex floor tile, etc. We are also bumping out part of the wall two feet to add about 8-10 extra square feet. Job is to gut bathroom to the studs, add new wall section then remodel.

We couldn't be happier with our decision to hire dRemodeling. From the beginning, expectations were clear and together with Daniel we developed a written timeline for the project. Each billing was a clear account of progress and tied to the original proposal. Some choices hadn't been made prior to commencement of the project. Daniel helped steer us in the right direction, but even if they impacted the amount of labor, dRemodeling stuck to their proposal and few labor "extras" were needed. It was always clear what we were to pay for in materials based on his proposal. We thought we would see more of Daniel on the job than we did. Though he was tied up in other projects and commitments at the time., his communications were excellent. The men he sent to do our project were excellent. Constantine led the project and he and Valentine showed up throughout the project. They and the others who worked demolition, painting and other tasks were all clean, professional, capable and really concerned about quality. Two phrases we heard often were "you'll get the way you want it" and "we'll make it look nice (the way you want it)". They definitely came through. We will hire them again.
Description of Work: dRemodeling did a total kitchen renovation; demolition, floors, cabinets, countertop/sink, lighting, backsplash, painting, etc. The total budget was for $30,000 including appliances. From the first interactions and appointment, Daniel was punctual and developed trust that he would do exactly what he said he would do. Daniel's approach was 'you buy it, we will install it". We thought we wanted more design help, but Daniel reviewed and provided his modified design. We had done a lot of shopping and selection work prior. There were details that we had overlooked, but we were able to select (from stock items) as we needed them as the project progressed. We compared Daniel's bid with that of two local "kitchen & bath" contractors having design staff and showrooms. Daniel offered help with our procurements if he had good contacts

dRemodeling was price effective, professional and great to work with. Dan is great at customer service and listening to the clients wants and desires and over delivering. His crew of workers are professional and very neat and tidy and that reflects in their work. We could not have asked for a better contractor who was fair, honest and efficient.Definately Recommend to others, A+++++ Service.

When I met Dan, I felt he understood the job and I felt we could work together. We were asking for them to gut our current bathroom and change a flat ceiling to a cathedral to merge 2 spaces. This necessitated work in the attic. Dan runs the project but the actual work was done by Tudor and Vlad, with occasional help from Eddie, and since they were in my house for weeks, I began to think of them as friends. The only sub they brought in was the electrician, who did a nice job. They were respectful and very concerned with keeping things clean and organized. The work they accomplished was excellent. There is no redo that doesn't run into issues, but we were able to work them out. I did not work with an architect or designer, so the decisions were on me and ordering things and understanding the intricacies of certain choices was sometimes exhausting. Dan always made me feel he had my back, though, and a can-do attitude that said I would be happy with the outcome. And we are. The bathroom is beautiful and works the way we had envisioned.
Description of Work: To begin, the estimate for the work was about $35,000 but the overall cost of the entire project rose because our materials were expensive (marbles, designer fixtures); I knew this would happen. The estimate was about what we expected based on other estimates we received -some higher, some lower.

Provided estimate was complete and clear; we were to select and pay for tiles, tub, vanities, faucets, toilets, etc.(at an additional $9000); they provided all construction supplies, expertise and labor. Work was preformed in expert craftsmenlike fashion with close to perfect results. Craftsmen cleaned up everyday so we did not feel we were living in a construction zone. They consulted with us as to arrangement/placement of tiles and accessories, location of grab bar, advised things they didn't think would work (we bought both grab bar and niches to create a recessed shelves and they advised against using both in a small space and built little shelves instead). They stuck by their estimate even though the condition inside our walls and under the floors was worse than anticipated, yet reduced their price by $100 when it turned out the supplier of the shower door would install it. They came back after work was completed and finished a few things we noticed - immediately upon our call They were very considerate of us (stayed outside until I left for work each day which did result, with all the consulting, that I was late for work a couple of days). Their professionalism led us to conclude that they were trustworthy; we allowed them to work in our home all day while we were at work. Estimate of how many work days the project would take was accurate; but we should have waited until all pieces were received from bath supply company before starting work.

After leaving a message requesting to set up a date for an estimate, I received a phone call from Daniel. An appointment was set. That date came and went, and I left a message about 15 minutes after the appt was set to begin, and the next day received a phone call saying that his assistant put the wrong date and time in his calendar. At that point we had several quotes on our project, and felt that the first impression wasn't favorable enough to have them out, although he did send an apology email, which was appreciated.

We could not have asked for a more professional, responsive contractor. Not only did they work with the time-consuming local borough for permits, but they went above and beyond our expectations in answering our questions, anticipating needs we hadn't considered while staying in our budget. When the inevitable minor hiccup occurred (which will happen in home renovations) - they were right there fixing it and responding to our concerns. This company isn't just a company that does its work and move on...they care about their work, their customers/clients, and take pride in what they do. I highly recommend them to anyone, and would willingly hire them for future projects.
Description of Work: Complete gut and restructure of the bathroom, which corrected both structural and cosmetic issues. This included new ceiling, new subfloor/floor, walls, bathtub, toilet, sink...the works. And they fixed the existing wood door, stained the wood to match the rest of house, and installed the light in the basement stairs. (so remodeling included structural, plumbing, and electrical).

The total job (not including the shower glass) took about 16 days, which was fine because this was not our primary bathroom. During construction, the workmen consulted me on nearly every choice point (in particular, we spent a long time deciding how wide the shower needed to be), but after a while that was barely necessary because I had complete confidence that they were going to do the best job they possibly could. I, in turn, consulted them on many design and aesthetic issues. They came up with creative solutions to issues related to the room shape (e.g. matching tiles on straight and slanted walls) and installed everything exactly according to my instructions. This was by far the most pleasant contracting experience we have ever had. You know how there is a point in a project where no matter how good your relationship with the contractor, you're both just totally fed up with each other. That never happened on this job.
Description of Work: A complete bathroom remodel in a small, oddly shaped, and far from squared off (house was built in 1894) room. The room was brought all the way down to lathe and then built up again into a completely modern bathroom, including a glass enclosed shower with pebble tiles on floor and wall. A particularly nice touch was glass block over a former window in the shower area that lets in loads of light.

FOLLOW UP 6/17/10 - He made restitution for breaking the lamp in my driveway. I have updated the grades to reflect this.

Response from dRemodeling
This is in response to my client’s review: The client contacted dRemodeling for an estimate for his bathroom. The job entailed finishing up a bathroom remodeling job that the original contractor abandoned. Our estimate included the following: -Correcting all code violation done by previous contractor. -Iinstalling a drop in tub (rebuild the frame as necessary, all plumbing connections; install tiles and -granite around the tub frame, grout and seal tiles). -Finish the walk in shower (wet bed. plumbing, installing tiles on walls and ceiling, Grout and seal floor, walls and ceiling) -Install tiles on floor (the floor was done by previous contractor and need correction work) -Install vanity, all plumbing connection. -Install all lighting and finish electric work. As far as pricing is concerned, our estimate was within the standard rates within the remodeling industry -- especially after considering the scope of work that needed to be done. A couple of days after the client received our estimate; he sent me an email stating that he found one of his garden lights broken. I explained to the client that it was very unlikely our fault because our estimate was given inside of the home. However, I offered to replace the broken light. I then asked the client to send a copy of the receipt for the new light – which he did. In conclusion, we sent him a check for the cost of the new light. At dRemodeling, our goal is to provide our clients with quality service. Unfortunately, in business, you can’t satisfy every client you encounter. However, we have a long list of clients who have been very satisfied with our remodeling services. In fact, we have several loyal clients. To get a general idea of the work we have provided our previous clientele, feel free to browse through our online portfolio.

I cannot say enough great things about dRemodeling. They did an absolutely fantastic job on our bathrooms! Dan Dragomir (manager/owner) was very honest and trustworthy. His price was very competitive and he was very helpful with helping us design our new bathrooms. He gave us several great ideas that we incorporated into our project. We interviewed several contractors before we met with Dan, but after our meeting we knew he was who we wanted to do business with. He did not let us down. The gentlemen who worked on the project (Mario and John) went way above and beyond our expectations. The craftsmanship and care that they put into this job really shows. They kept our house very clean throughout the project. I never once got the feeling that they tried to cut corners like so many other contractors try to do. They went out of their way to do things "right" even if it meant taking them much longer. Any time a problem arose they just found a way to work around it. For instance, while installing new electric lines they found that the previous homeowner has some shoddy electric work done. They spent close to a day fixing all of that mess. It wasn't their responsibility, but they repaired it all and did not charge me a dime more. Another thing that sticks out is when he was installing the bullnose in the guest bath he called me on my cell to tell me that he didn't think they matched perfectly. The whites were just slightly "off". He offered to take it all down and let me find something to replace it. Again they didn't ask for a dime more. They could have just put them up because that is what I ordered. Instead they made sure that we were happy. We used dRemodeling to transform our original 1980 bathrooms into modern, upscale bathrooms that we are very proud of. I could not have asked for or expected more. They are very professional, the work is top notch and their prices are very reasonable. We are going to remodel our kitchen next and we will not waste time interviewing multiple contractors. We are going to use dRemodeling.
Description of Work: Gutted and remodeled (3) bathrooms. All three bathrooms were gutted to studs. Repaired framing as needed. New Subfloors. Installed new electric lines for GFI's and lights. New Plumbing pipes. Sheetrock replaced with mold resistant greenboard. Painted, and installed new moulding and new doors. All three bathrooms were COMPLETELY remodeled. Master Bathroom - We converted from a one sink vanity to a two sink vanity. To do so we had a window taken out and insulated/sheetrocked inside and put a medicine cabinet in it's place. We had extra siding that was put up outside to cover where the window once was. We also had a very large soaking tub put in. Tile was installed on floors, shower and all walls. Custom cabinets with granite countertops. All new plumbing for shower and double vanity. All new Electric run to a sub-panel. New electric for lights (task lights over shower, toilet and vanities). Toilet, fixtures, lights, shelves, towel bars, exhaust fan etc. Guest Bathroom - New tile floors and walls. Custom cabinets with marble top. New tub, toilet, fixtures, mirror, etc. All new plumbing for sink and tub/shower. New electric lines for lights and GFI's. New switches. New exhaust Fan. Powder Room - Tile floor, new vanity with custom Granite countertop. New electric lines. lights, exhaust fan, mirror, switches, etc. Extra added - In the middle of the project we decided to have D Remodeling replace every door in the house with nice new 6 panel doors.

Dan Dragomir, the general manager, started the project by getting approval and permits from the Historical Commission and the Department of Licenses and Inspections. This took quite a bit of effort and some changes to the plans. Once construction started, Dan told me that my project was dRemodeling's number one priority, and he really meant it. I've never seen anybody work harder than dRemodeling's workers, and everyone was committed to doing a first rate job. They kept me involved and informed so that we were always in agreement about what was to be done. All the workers were polite and respectful. They are true craftsmen, even artisans. I have special praise for Tudor, who made several suggestions that were definitely improvements on the architect's plans. For example, he suggested that the vanity area would be better if left open rather than enclosed by glass block like the other bathroom areas. They installed a beautiful wrought iron railing around the vanity area instead of the glass block, and I am so glad I listened to his suggestion. This project exceeded my expectations. I am thrilled with my new master suite, and I believe I was very lucky to have found dRemodeling through Angie's List. Dan will give you his cell phone number, and he is always responsive to your calls or emails.
Description of Work: dRemodeling bumped out the rear wall of my third floor and added a room so that the third floor now covers the entire length of my house. Previously, the third floor was just one room, covering only the front part of the house, but now it is a master suite that extends the full length of the house. They removed the roof that was covering the rear part of the second floor and framed in the addition. They added a roof with two skylights to the new room. They extended part of the new rear wall so that I have an alcove/window seat with windows on three sides. They installed drywall, and primed and painted. They added a balcony overlooking my yard, with a wrought iron railing. They ran the plumbing up from the second floor and installed a steam shower for two, a toilet, and a double vanity with marble countertop and custom built mirrors. They installed ceramic tiles (including a mural and some other decorative tiles) on all the walls of the steam shower, a marble mosaic floor, and marble slab bench. They installed a custom bookcase and two custom wardrobes. They installed curved walls of glass block around the toilet area and the steam shower area. They upgraded my electrical service and installed sconces and recessed ceiling lights. They installed a combination heater and air conditioner in the wall to supplement the existing HVAC system. They installed a hardwood floor in the new bedroom, and a marble floor in the bathroom areas. All this was done to a 200 year old rowhouse in Society Hill, with no access to the back except through the house. They carried their materials through the house to the backyard and then lifted them up to the third floor, or carried them up two flights of a narrow, winding staircase.

Nice guys, but sloppy, sloppy work. They usually arrived about an hour late. Bedrooms walls were primed and painted BEFORE they were sanded and finished, light switches were installed upside down and in the wrong position ( the switch for the left bank of lights was installed on the right side, the switch for the right bank of lights was put on the left side). Whole 13" bathroom tiles didn't fit perfectly from side to side, so they put one inch strips of 13" tile along one wall. The shower was floor was covered with pebble tiles that are designed to fit together like puzzle pieces to produce a seamless surface - but my shower floor looks like a bunch of individual pebble tiles. The vent pipe from the bathroom that should have extended up through the roof was cut and sealed into the wall. The bathroom toilet and shower backed up constantly, flooding the downstairs living areas with soil water. Grout and other construction materials were removed from the drainage lines ( the opening to the soil line was never covered during construction). Skylight leakage has been a problem twice - they just came out to reseal them again. The HVAC installation included a condensate line that drained directly into the basement soil line ( illegal in many areas) - when the soil line backed up, soil water backed up INTO the HVAC unit and then flooded the basement. The humidifier unit was bent - so a huge percentage of the furnace output goes out of it into the basement instead of the ductwork. The first set of custom wood counters and shelves were of low quality - more like shipping crates, with lots of dust and debris embedded in the dripping finish, and edges that cut flesh like a serrated knife. Cleanup is poor. Some crew members are good at it, others are not.
Description of Work: The third floor was gutted. The bathroom was moved to the center of the floor, the floor was raised to accommodate the soil-line pitch, the bathroom ceiling was opened up and skylights were installed. Walls and floors were tiled, plant ledges with water supply and drainage were built near the ceiling. A shower stall was built, sink and toilets installed, and custom countertops and shelves were built. Hardwood floors were laid on the bedroom and connecting hallway floors, walls and ceilings were framed, drywalled, finished, and painted. Ceiling lights were installed along with electrical outlets, and two windows were replaced. They also put in a new HVAC system.

In the middle of my master bath remodel, I decided that a dream master bath could not go with 1960's paneling in the master bedroom-- so dremodeling and I entered into a separate contract for the master bedroom. The same fine workmen who were remodeling the bath then added this project. They paid attention to detail and were caring about how things looked. The paint that I chose for the entire master bedroom was a much stronger color than I intended and dremodeling let me choose a lighter color at no extra expense to me. The workmen were smart in that they used the too strong color for the primer and it let me see that it was overpowering. The heating & ac added was a Mitsubishi wallmount for which I am very pleased. It was done by an outside contractor hired by dRemodeling -- and the workers were professional and did a wonderful job with their installation. My only disappointment with both projects was the cabinetmaker who made the custom bath vanity and custom recessed medicine cabinet. Dave cut corners at every possibility--the vanity is adequate but does not have as good a quality as would be expected from custom-made. The matching recessed medicine cabinet was not acceptable at all given that it had more wood than mirror -- causing me to try to find a ready-made recessed medicine cabinet at the 11th hour. I did find one that I am very pleased with but it caused some necessary wall re-make as it was larger than the original intended space for the custom cabinet. Over all, my experience with dremodeling was a very positive one. I find Dan Dragomir of dRemodeling and his crew to be honest and good people who are caring and upstanding young men who do great work and who want you to have what you wanted and will do this and stay within the contracted amount.
Description of Work: Master Bedroom remodel from the studs -- old paneling removed; electrical updated, drywall added everywhere including ceiling; recessed lighting, heating/ac update, painted.

Dan Dragomir, General Contractor & Owner, went out of his way to work with me right from the start. He even suggested the granite for the vanity, shower seat, shower threshhold & entry threshhold after the contract was signed and the cost had already been determined. My mind had not grasped that this could be affordable for me. Whenever there were any issues or problems (and there always are some--it wouldn't be real if there wasn't!), all I had to do was contact Dan or mention it to one of his workers and it was addressed and/or resolved. Dan went out of his way to see that I got the bathroom I wanted--my dream bathroom -- and 99% of the time dremodeling supported the cost. This contractor will not try to nickle and dime you when you discover that you didn't think of something at the time of signing the contract -- or if the contractor himself didn't realize something ahead of time. His workmen were always polite and considerate -- AND their workmanship is excellent. Excellent work, particularly excellent finishing work, does take time and I appreciated that my master bath was done carefully and with precision work -- it was NOT thrown together so that they could get onto the next job. Dremodeling was not the lowest bid--they were the middle bid but I felt from the start that they would give me my dream bathroom without hassle and they did!!!!
Description of Work: This was a complete master bath remodel from the studs. This work included redesigning bath and switching the position of the shower & stool, electrical, plumbing, bath fixtures, drywall & tile over entire room, granite, custom vanity, mirror, stool, tub & shower, new bathroom window, beautiful custom frameless shower door, and painting. Also installed were recessed lighting, separate toe kick space heater, ceiling fan. When bath was completed there was nothing for the customer to have to complete whatsoever, including a new bathroom door, installed and painted.

Our existing shower enclosure was of poor quality and poorly installed, and it started leaking to the floor below. We called one plumber who repaired a valve, charged us $125, and didn't stop the leaking at all. We realized that it could not be easily repaired and needed to be replaced, a figured we would upgrade the appearance as well (tile walls, nicer base and enclosure). The first plumbing company provided us with an estimate, but required three different subcontractors (plumber, tile guy, and carpenter) each charging us separately. I looked into 4 other companies who would provide all the services packaged into one price, all of them highly ranked on Angie's List for kitchen/bathroon remodeling. I chose Dan because his price was reasonable, his work seemed high quality, and he was very responsive and friendly. I was not disappointed. Dan was always accessible by phone, text message, or email. He and his workers were invariably friendly, cheerful, and polite, and it was a pleasure to work with them all. The work was completed in stages over about 3 weeks, and we just gave them a key to our house to come as needed. They almost always came when scheduled and often worked long days. His original estimate was $2400, with me providing the shower base and enclosure which I obtained from a local plumbing supply company for about $850 (the Dreamline Horizon brand). The job required more work than Dan originally anticipipated and he gave us an updated invoice with $1500 extra: we used marble tile instead of ceramic (higher cost of materials and installation was about $500), we installed a recessed tile niche for soap/shampoo and some decorative elements/stripes (about $300), and the base required a cement underlay, repositioned drain, and additional tilework (about $700). However, since he didn't origianally tell us about these expenses, Dan only asked us to pay what we thought was fair. I had only expected about $1000 extra and Dan was willing to accept this, but I ultimately split the difference and paid about $1250 extra because I was so satisfied with the work and Dan's fairness. I would use Dan and dRemodeling for future projects and highly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Removed an existing corner shower enclsure and replaced with a new one. (Disconnected existing shower, removed existing fiberglass shower unit, removed drywall behind it, removed existing floor and subfloor, repaired framing, installed new floor and cement understructure, installed new drain and acrylic base, installed floor tiles to close a small gap, installed new showerhead and valve, installed new wall moisture-resistant drywall, installed wall marble tiles with a recessed soap enclosure and decorative elements, installed glass shower enclosure, sealed tiles and grout, all cleanup and debris removal, patching of holes in walls and ceiling)
