The service went well! He was very responsive and would call me back the same day every time I would call. He kept with the estimate and even changed it a couple of times per my request. His architect came out and drew the plans for the bathroom and this was very professional of him. He came when he said he would and got the work done within the amount of time they said they would. He tried to do the job right and even went to the local hardware stores to purchase more products.
Description of Work: They replaced a shower stall for me. There was also a leak so they replaced the cartridge of a faucet in another bath.

Dan and dRemodeling are beyond excellent. In the past, I have experienced contractors who overcharge, fail to return phone calls, and even disappear. Not so with this group. Dan and all those who work for him (carpenters, plumbers, tile people, etc) went far beyond my expectations. From the first phone call Dan showed up, showed me how to save some money on the project, and provided me with a work schedule that was adhered to 100%. The entire crew was professional and helpful. All my questions were immediately answered. The finished bathroom is beautiful. After the bathroom was paid for, I left Dan an email with a small complaint. The very next day, people showed up and responded to my email. I just cannot recommend this company enough.
Description of Work: dRemodeling completed a bathroom remodeling project in our home.

We will call Dan back for a formal estimate when/if the sale goes through.
Description of Work: We contacted dRemodeling based on the reviews here for an estimate for a complete house remodel. We are in the inspection phase of buying a home, and needed someone to provide an estimate of the costs we will incur if we proceed with purchase of the house. Dan was very responsive (email response in just a few hours) and gave us a general estimate based on the real estate listing pictures and my description of the work to be done. For a formal estimate (with Dan coming to the house to evaluate the project) the cost is $600. This is just too much for us right now, considering we don't even own the home.

dRemodeling is a terrific group to work with. From the very beginning, they went above and beyond our expectations. We purchased our 100+ year-old Victorian home in September 2011. We had difficult negotiations with the Seller, who gave us a 24-hour window to get price estimates for some structural and electrical repairs (identified during our home inspection) that needed to be done as a condition of the sale. Here's a challenge: Try finding a contractor who's willing to come to a site with less that 24 hours notice on a Saturday! We were so relieved when Dan Dragomir, dRemodeling's general manager, agreed to meet us that afternoon at the house. He walked through with us, took careful notes and photos to document the work that needed to be done, and had the quote to us by the next day. dRemodeling began working on our home in early October 2011 and finished in early January 2012. All of the guys that Dan sent out were qualified, skilled, courteous, and really nice people to have in your home. Big home renovations can be so stressful -- and these guys made the process as easy as it could possibly have been. They arrived up on time, cleaned up at the end of each day, and were always in good humour (even on the days when the work was really tough). Because our house is so old, lots of unexpected issues and problems arose during the process of the renovations. Because of this, the project required many more labor hours than Dan had originally expected. Even so, he honored our original quote. There was a small increase in price (only about 2% of the total cost of the job) because of some additional materials that were needed, but we were not charged for the additional labor. Dan and Craig (of Bickings Electric) were very responsive to all of our requests throughout the project. When we decided halfway through the originally scheduled work that we wanted to do some kitchen remodeling, too, they were great about promptly getting the additional work into the schedule and gave us a very reasonable price for that additional work. Valentine, who did a lot of the carpentry and kitchen remodeling work at our house, is incredibly attentive to details and took great care with the work. Elvin did a beautiful job patching holes in walls and ceilings -- and we were amazed at how quickly he was able to get the patching finished! Craig and his team skillfully performed a complete electrical overhaul in our challenging old home, and we now have so much more peace of mind to know that our electrical system is modern and safe. dRemodeling really transformed our home in ways that we are so very happy with. We highly recommend them!
Description of Work: 1. Basement stairs construction - Removed existing, then completely rebuilt and finished stairs 2. Installed structural beam in basement (to support 100+ yr-old main floor structural beams), including pouring footings and installing vertical supports 3. Performed other structural repairs in basement 4. Performed structural repairs to front porch 5. Completely renovated our electrical system - replaced all knob-and-tube with modern cable, installed grounding rod and wires, installed new electrical box, installed several new lighting fixtures, installed/secured safe electrical boxes throughout home -- Also passed two electrical safety inspections (the first, mid-way through work; the second, when work was complete). Note that the Electrical work was subcontracted by dRemodeling to Bickings Electric, Philadelphia PA 6. Patched and primed all holes made in plaster walls and ceilings as a result of electrical renovations 7. Kitchen remodeling: New quartz countertop, stainless undermount sink, and faucet installed 8. Capped 2 chimneys and did some brick repointing on the chimneys

they were very professional and responsive to our needs. they have a wonderful decorator that helped tremendously with making our choices. the workmen did absolutely beautiful tile work and installation of all fixtures. the cabinetry was custom made and beautiful. the granite top in one bath and marble top in the other are first rate. They were wonderful to work with. Before we paid them, Dan made sure everything was done to our satisfaction, and small changes we requested were made. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again. In fact, we wouldn't use anyone else.

From the initial scoping of the job, to when demolition started, I felt like I was in good hands. The job was fully explained to me without getting overly technical. Changes to the scope and the prices were promptly communicated. Having the interior designer counsel out throughout the process was a major plus as well. She helped us with our selections and knew just what to suggest to us for every aspect of job. The guys on the job were perfectionist and ensure that everything was perfect and to our liking. They were very respectful, and we trusted them in our house every day. Although Dan had other jobs going on simultaneously, he made us feel like we were his main focus at all times. The result is a showroom kitchen which is exactly what we were hoping for, and really excited and proud to have this center piece of our home. We will definitely use dRemodeling for any future remodeling projects that we have.

First let me say that if I could give Dan and his crew a triple A rating I absolutely would. I contacted Dan after I had chosen to part ways with the original contractor I hired. Dan came a couple of days after our first contact and I explained the job to him and provided him with a list of materials that I had already purchased. He answered all of my questions professionally and provided me with an estimate a couple of days later. Dan's price was perfectly in line with other estimates I had gotten, perhaps a bit less. But boy did I get value for my buck! Dan is the ultimate professioanal. He ALWAYS answered my emails promptly (and believe me when I say that I had a lot of questions!) and always offered suggetions when there was a problem (alhtough there weren't many). He and his crew always made me feel like my job was their most important and that I was always given top priority. The crew was exceptional!! They were led by Tudor who is a renovator's dream come true! There was nothing he could not do nor any challenge he was unwilling to take. He explained everything every step of the way and easily dealt with any problems that arose. He told me honestly and professionally if my ideas couldn't work, but always did his very best to make sure that they did. He is a stickler for detail which worked for me just fine! He saw everything and nothing ever got past him. He is talented beyond belief and a true gentleman to boot! The rest of the crew included Miron (who did exquisite, exquisite tile work!), Val and Vlad. All three were incredibly polite and meticulous. My husband even said to me the other day that he would never have known there was a major renovation going on because the house was always left immaculate when the guys left each day. And the work they all performed was truly exceptional! True gentlemen, each and every one! I now have the bathroom of my dreams thanks to Dan, Tudor, Miron, Vlad and Val. I would hire them again in a second! They are truly the ultimate remodeling firm in the area! Thanks so very, very much guys for all your help!!!!
Description of Work: DRemodling provided a total bathroom renovation for a 6 x 8 foot hall bathroom. The bathroom was gutted down to the studs and a hallway closet was removed to expand the bathroom area. New framing with wall insulation was also installed. Most of the plumbing had to be moved, including some pipes moved to the opposite side of the room. A new sub floor was also built. All new fixtures were installed as well as a new window and wall to wall cabinetry. The tub/shower area was enclosed and a new tub apron built. The entire tub/shower are (including the apron) was tiled with marble subway tile and new marble tiles were installed on the floor. All new wiring was installed which included an exhaust fan with light, four through the mirror vanity lights, a wall magnifying mirror was also installed and new switches and outlets. This was a full service remodel where I provided all the finish materials. The contract cost was approximately $20,000 and I spent approximately $10,000 on the finish materials.

After about 3 days the company called me, when I told them what work I needed done they said they would get back to me. I am very sorry to hear see that this customer felt the need to write a negative review about our company. I would like to take this opportunity to explain what the situation was. After the customer contacted us for a possible project, my assistant provided me with all her information for review. After carefully going through the details, I decided to not bid on this project. We called this customer back the 1 day after to notify her, but was only able to leave a voicemail. We continued to call back until we directly spoke with her and told her our decision. Here are the reasons for not bidding on this project 1. We are a small firm specializing in bathroom and kitchen remodeling. The scope of work involved for this customer’s project was wallpaper removal, wall and ceiling repairs . Given that the work is not directly associated with our area of expertise, we could not offer our service to them. At this point, as shown on our Angie’s List page, we do not offer small repair or handyman services. 2. Since we are a small company, we only have resources to tackle projects within 25-30 miles of our main location. This project was out of state and required at least 1 hr travel time. When we returned the customer’s phone call, we explained to her all the reasons why we were not able to bid on. We apologized and thanked her for contacting us. I hope this comment will give other customers a better understanding of how we go about managing a project.

The crew was professional, diligent and neat. Scrap materials were removed daily and tools sometimes stored in our garage. The crew often communicated details of the project. The quality of work was very good. The plumber was exceptionally polite, helpful and committed to finishing his tasks on schedule so other work could move forward. The original estimate and plans did not account for the removal of a wall that was a load-bearing wall. An architect was engaged for new plans, the town inspector needed to be scheduled twice for inspection, and the project was delayed. The unexpected services of an architect also caused a minor increase in the cost of the project, The inconvenience of not having running water for a few weeks was exacerbated by the delay in project. d-Remodeling was generally responsive and cooperative in correcting the strucutral problem. d-Remodeling also worked with us on allocating some tasks of the project to meet our project budget. Our tasks were painting, laying a tile floor and trim work. Not all remodeling companies or contractors will split tasks on a project with the customer, and I commend d-Remodeling for doing so. Overall we are extremely happy with our bathroom and the work of d-Remodeling.
Description of Work: Demolition and expansion of existing bathroom. Removal of bathroom/front bedroom wall and framing/building of new wall/ceiling. All new electrical work and fixtures All new plumbing, including installation of following materials: shower stall, claw foot bathtub, sink and pedestal, toilet ball. Install insulation and drywall.

The entire job was done with professionalism and great craftsmanship. Growing up in a family of carpenters I am very picky about the quality of work, but dRemodeling's work exceeded even my expectations. The highlight of the work was the tile work that was more artistry than just remodeling. Dan, the owner, was great to work with from the beginning. I emailed them, he came quickly, delivered an estimate in the time frame promised, and started the work on time. Any time I needed to communicate (best through email), he answered quickly and was responsive. They really worked with us to ensure that the design was the way that we wanted it-- other contractors had tried to tell me what I wanted, but Dan was really flexible and his crew checked in every morning to ensure that they had the same ideas as what we wanted. We chose the option of ordering fixtures over the Internet with a site where Dan had a business relationship so got exactly what we wanted and Dan dealt with them around any issues. There is another option of going up to a showroom in Valley Forge to pick out fixtures that it seems that most of the contractors use, but we didn't care for the reception there by the workers when we showed up in jeans and they ignored us-- their loss. We are very pleased with the result ( pictures attached)-- I can't say enough about the quality of the craftsmanship. You may be able to get something cheaper elsewhere (Dan's estimate was in the middle of what we obtained), but you won't be able to get a better job elsewhere.
Description of Work: We needed a complete remodel of the master bath in a hundred year old home that the previous owner had done poorly. As a result, the tub was leaking into the hallway below causing ceiling damage. The remodel involved tearing everything down to the studs, hauling out old materials (including lots of broken tile), and then repairing the ceiling below.

I never thought I'd be comfortable recommending a contractor, but I would definitely recommend Dan Dragomir and dRemodeling. Having had a nightmare contractor experience in the past, I did a significant amount of research when looking for someone for this project. In the end I got 3 estimates from reputable contractors who I felt would provide a great end result, and ultimately chose dRemodeling primarily because I thought Dan would be the most responsive and easiest to work with. And he was, from the initial contact and detailed estimate through to the end of the project. I couldn't really have been happier with the experience. Below are some of the reasons I was so pleased with the experience. We are very happy with the quality of all the work. I only really looked at good quality contractors so I kind of took that as a given and dRemodeling did not let me down. Dan also worked with me on price so that we were able to come up with ways of staying within our budget. But here are some other factors as well: 1. Dan and his team are both reliable and responsive. They always showed up on time, responded quickly (i.e. within minutes or hours) to any emails or phone calls, listened to my questions and did everything I asked, talked to me about any issues and in general did exactly what they said they would do. While this may sound like standard norms of behavior in most areas of life, for some reason it often doesn't apply to contractors, so it was so refreshing to be able to rely on Dan. 2. They are efficient. When I told my wife that the contractor expected the project to take 3 weeks she said "Oh, that means at least 6 weeks". In the end not only were they bang on time, they actually got frustrated with us because we hadn't ordered some of the bathroom fixtures which was holding things up. 3. Dan acts as a project manager. I know a few reviews have mentioned this, but it really makes a difference knowing that there is someone very responsive spending his time on managing the project from the costs to the timing to all the details in between. Whenever I had any questions, concerns or needed any information, Dan was always a quick email or call away. And he provided by far the most detailed estimate up front including guidelines on materials costs and drawings of the proposed basement layout. 4. They are very respectful of your home. They laid tarp and swept everyday and really kept things clean. And we had to tell one of them multiple times that he didn't need to ask us every time he wanted to use our bathroom! 5. Their incentives are generally aligned with yours. There are 3 things I like here. (a) They don't buy the materials and mark them up. While buying all the finishes, tiles etc. is another thing to think about, at least you get exactly what you want and know you're not getting screwed. And they'll point you in the right direction. (b) They will not ask for the final payment until a few days after completion when you've had time to look at everything and they've come back to do any touch-ups etc. (c) They care about their reputation so it's probably not worth screwing you over for small short term gain. 6. They go beyond what they could probably get away with and they never complain. They fixed various minor things that they noticed along the way, and picked up some random excess materials from a previous house owner that I wanted removed from the basement a week after the end of the project. So overall I had a great experience. Any complaints I have are so minor that they are not worth getting into (e.g. some minor miscommunications) and although you always have to stay on top of this kind of work, I felt that I could trust them more than I though I would (which was important for us since we were not home during the day for most of the project). The carpenter that they used to do our bookcases was good but not amazing, although he was significantly better value than the other quotes for this particular part of the project. All in all I would be more than happy to use Dan again.
Description of Work: The primary project was finishing the basement of our center city townhouse, with a secondary project of building and installing a large custom bookcase in our living room. The basement was already dry and used for storage, but we finished it into a multi-purpose room (including all walls, ceiling, electrical, flooring, shelving, painting etc.) and added a full bathroom (toilet, vanity, shower). dRemodeling handled the entire basement project including all construction, plumbing (including installing a sewage pump), electrical, finishing etc. and subcontracted out (but supervised) the custom bookcases.

My experience was about as painless as it could have possibly been. Dan and his crew were great: very punctual, professional, friendly, and reliable. The quality of the work was fantastic, and their attention to detail was superb. When any problems arose, (and in a 100-year-old rowhouse, there WILL be problems), they worked with me to resolve them to my satisfaction. My only disappointment came from the installation of the countertops, which dRemodeling did not do. Overall, I am very pleased with my new kitchen! I will likely have them back when I renovate my bathroom(s).
Description of Work: Complete gut and remodel of the kitchen in my small South Philly rowhome. New installation of sheetrock, floor and wall tile, lighting, plumbing, cabinets, and appliances. Rerouted some pipes and wiring after removing a dividing wall. (Cost listed above includes labor and building materials only.)

We couldn't have been more pleased with the work of Dan and his crew. From the initial phone call to the completion of the final detail, everything was done with professionalism, high level of skill and workmanship, attention to detail, and an interest in making sure we were 100% satisfied. We gave him a budget to work with and he connected us directly with individuals at suppliers who were also professional and extremely helpful in the overwhelming task of picking everything out. Having our house turned upside down for 2 months was made easier for us to handle because the workers were punctual every day, they cleaned up spotlessly at the end of the day, were courteous and respectful. Communication with us was outstanding. He emailed/called us just about every night to review the work and any issues that needed attention. He kept us aware of every added cost [which was very minimal because I think he planned so well] and he even absorbed the $1500 cost of some extra work that needed to be done because he discovered some plumbing that didn't meet code standards after he ripped up the floor of a bathroom. He was accessible every day by cell phone, and would call back within hrs if not sooner. The only negative was that we could have used some advice from him about the lighting design of the bathroom. When the master bathroom was completed, we wanted to make some changes to the original design to have better lighting but we were pretty much on our own for that aspect of it. This wasn't enough of a problem to downgrade his grades from "A". Dans runs an honest. trustworthy business, and we recommend him highly.

Dan showed up as scheduled and was very pleasant. He took photos, asked relevant questions and provided the estimate within 2 days. We just needed painting done, but I discussed a few other potential projects with him and he was forthright and honest.
Description of Work: On-time and Professional. We went with another company, but dRemodeling will definitely be one of our first calls for our next larger project.

Due to the excellent response that Dan received on Angie's List..I sent him an email inquiring about a master bathroom remodeling job. We agreed on a date, he stayed in touch to confirm the date. He arrived a little late (due to GPS), BUT, still stayed in contact with me that this was happening. He arrived, fully apologetic. He took photos of the bathroom. He asked me what was my budget. Unfortunately, I could not give him an answer. I was hoping to recyle some items to save money. Dan said in a week he would send me a proposal starting with the higher end price and then perhaps we can work down from there. He kept right to his word and in 5 days I received the proposal. It" was not in my budget. Over $15,000, so I gave him some ideas and then gave him budget of $5,000-$6,000 and that would have include material. ( I am not looking for the take away your breath look"). Dan replied a few days later with new proposal and did admit that he would not be able to stay within that budget. I replied that the project will go on the back burner for now. I would have no hesitation dealing with Dan again. He was very polite, professional and honest. Hard to find those qualities in businesses these days.

This company hires and subcontracts licensed and experienced craftsmen. They were prompt, cheerful & courteous (they even made sure at the end of the day the area was safe for our three cats). They kept the dirt on a tarp and completely and tidily replaced it afterward. I've used this company twice, and they've always gone above and beyond. They warranty their work and support any of the minor issues that come up during any normal remodel (for example: this time the glass plate for the microwave came broken, and the company worked with us to ensure we had the plate the quickest way...and reimbursed us for any cost). I've pulled the "while you're here, could you look at this, too?" bit, and they promptly support my needs while making sure that the information and request gets included in the contract. This shows me they respect the customers who are after me. There were times that I had an idea that would not work (for safety concerns that I hadn't considered). In those cases, the craftsmen explain the limits of the material, provide other options, and work with me to make sure my wishes are safely included. The craftsmen also provide free suggestions to how different materials would improve the space (for example: going in detail to explain the limits and benefits of different gloss paints). This demonstrates to me the company not only considers the visual appeal of the finished product....but also work to make sure the finished product will last safely for years to come
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel (in kitchen - replaced floor, backsplash, cabinets, countertop, appliances; painted kitchen; minor carpentry repair to chair rail; attention to detail to match new wood trim to wood trim stain in house; installed landings near front and side door).

I have had some really bad experiences with contractors in the past so I did some serious research this time. It paid off because dRemodeling is excellent in every way - they do great work at a fair price and Dan's employees are extremely professional. Dan was always available to answer questions and he helped me through the entire process including helping me get the fixtures/tiles/etc at a discounted price. He regularly stopped by to check on the progress of the work. All aspects of the project were done in the most professional way. Everyone who came to my home was always on time, polite and worried over all the small details so that everything was done exactly right. There are always unexpected problems in every remodeling project and this was no exception - but these were handled very well and delays were minimized by working late and on weekends to get the job done. I really appreciated that! Each day I came home from work and found everything cleaned up and neat. I would recommend dRemodeling to anyone who needs remodeling done and doesn't want to deal with workers who do not show up, show up late and/or cut corners and do less than perfect work. And they were just really nice guys which made the whole process so much more pleasant. I will call Dan again for the next project!
Description of Work: Cost above was for complete remodeling of 1 bathroom, 1 powder room, ceramic tile installation in kitchen and painting/drywall repairs in other parts of the house (not including materials)

Good communication in responding by email and setting up appointment. He took measurements and listened to what I wanted to do with the kitchen. He prepared recommendations and estimates and did these in a timely manner. The estimate for the repair work was a bit higher than other carpenters, but since they focus on remodeling that was not unexpected. The estimate for the kitchen remodeling was very helpful since he broke out the labor and materials costs and indicated that the choice of cabinets and countertop will drive the total costs. I am still thinking about whether I want to do the project because it will be expensive, regardless of whom I select. I would definitely consider this company when it comes time because of their professionalism and reputation.
Description of Work: Provide estimate for (1) carpentry work needed in the removal and replacement of pipe behind kitchen wall and (2) remodeling kitchen, with new cabinets, replace existing countertop and add new countertop.

Hire dRemodeling now! If you are sick and tired of contractors that don't show up, do crappy work, change the price on you at the last minute and are downright rude, then dRemodeling is your dream contractor. We hired them based on Angie's list reviews and we were so pleased to find that they lived up to all of the hype. The job started in November and, due to delays in some of the materials that we selected, the job didn't finish up completely until February. Had everything been on time, dRemodeling would have been done much earlier than that. So here's the top 10 reasons to hire this company. 1. They show up when they say they will! Like clockwork for months, they arrived at 8am sharp and left at 5pm. That is very rare with contractors. 2. Pricing is all based on labor - you buy materials (other than studs, outlets etc.). This is great because a lot of contractors up their price by upping the price on the materials. This creates a great dynamic where it's in their best interest to help you find the best price on product because they don't make any money from it. Dan Dragomir (owner and project manager), negotiated our kitchen cabinets and tile selection prices for us and saved us thousands after he saw the price we were quoted originally. Find a contractor that will do that for you! 3. Friendly team - if you're gonna practically live with these guys for a few months, at least you hope they are nice. The guys were all very nice to my 3 kids and my wife at all times and never once disrespected them. I've had other contractors that treated my wife like something out of a 50's film and were chauvinistic jerks. Not dRemodeling...class act all of the way. The team is highly efficient and knocks out work quickly. 4. High quality work - these guys don't cut corners! They are very proud of their work and are very picky and will fix things that you didn't even notice. Dan, the owner, makes sure to stop by often to inspect the work and makes sure every detail is in place and exactly perfect or it's done over. I really appreciated this as someone that has had corners cut by other contractors. 5. Keep the job site clean - every time they left, their tools and materials were always neatly stacked and covered and they vacuumed every day before they left to clean up the dust. 6. Good sub contractors (electrical) - their electrician was excellent and, even though not a member of the core team, they really felt like they followed all of the same rules and high standards that Dan's own team follows. Arrived on time and always did professional work. 7. Pricing is fair - dRemodeling is not the cheapest contractor you will find, his quote was actually in the middle of all of the quotes we got, but with all of the other factors considered, it was well worth the additional cost. What good is a cheaper up front price if the quality you get is terrible and you have to hire another contractor like Dan to clean up the mess?? 8. Follows local code/ordinances - Amazing, a contractor that actually will buy a permit! This is something a lot of contractors "should" do but don't because it eats into their profit. Dan didn't build the cost into his bill, he told me the exact cost and asked me if I wanted to pay. Of course I did because I've been burned in the past by contractors doing below-code work and then having to pay to have someone fix it. Never again! All permits were legit and posted and gave me peace of mind that quality was being monitored by my township. 9. The owner is the project manager for your job - there are 2 important points here...they actually have a project manager meaning you don't have to do it and that person is the owner. No having to go back to anyone for approval to make a change in the project...Dan says it goes, it goes. It's very nice to have someone moving the project along, ensuring dates are hit, and ensuring you as the customer are making decisions on materials in a timely fashion so they can keep on track. Dan is also a helpful with issues with materials, like a tub that was too large or a sink that was too big. He assisted with returns with the online stores (fyi - if I had to do it again, I would not purchase large items online...go to a local warehouse...it's a major pain to return things online) and helped us get return fees waived. 10. Flexible with customer demands - towards the end of the project we started dreaming up other changes to make to our living space particularly in our living room. New hardwood floors were necessary to make our open floor plan look the best it could. Then we wanted a new front door, then we wanted recessed lighting, then we wanted an updated fireplace, then we wanted new stairs, then we wanted our flooring to continue up to our hallway. The list goes on and on and Dan was always accommodating on price and fit in all of the work into our project with all of the other projects he had going on with other customers. If you've read this far, then you know it's a no-brainer decision. With this much money on the line, don't cheap out and save yourself a few thousand bucks with a one man show, that will take forever, probably show up 50% of the time, do shoddy work, laugh at the thought of buying a permit and will conveniently have a disconnected phone number when you try to reach them 2 months later when their work starts to fall apart on you. You can't sue someone that you can't find! (learned this the hard way with a roofer a few years back!). Best of luck to you - hire them - you won't regret it! David Miller
Description of Work: Hired dRemodeling for a high-end kitchen and bath remodel which ultimately also turned into a living room remodel. Kitchen and bath were gutted down to the studs and walls were knocked down to create a open floor plan / great room feel. The kitchen included high end cabinetry, quartz countertops, float/lock hardwood floors, an island with dishwasher and sink, butler pantry with wine chiller and new french doors going out to our existing deck. Living room was updated with new hardwood floors to match and recess lighting installed throughout the whole unified space. Fireplace was updated with same backsplash tile as in kitchen and a new high-end fireplace door was installed. Bathroom had a custom closet built by dRemodeling and a unique European glass shower screen on the bath with high-end shower plumbing.

He did a very good job. It is beautiful. The price is nice. I had work done five or six years ago. It was the same price and they did not do the toilet and floor. The customer service was good. He is not a native of this country and it was little tough for my father to understand but I understood him. I would use him again.

My worn out kitchen and pantry were from the 1950's. The kitchen had some shoddy electrical work done to incorporate a dishwasher in the 1970's. The subfloor in the pantry was in bad shape and the old radiator needed replacement with a new one in a more energy saving location. Originally I wanted a completely new kitchen but soon realized I could not afford the cost. Instead, I decided to replace floors (kitchen and pantry), counter top, sink, dishwasher, and upgrade the wiring behind the base cabinets. dRemodeling was able to give me good advice to achieve my goal. They would supply the counter top, new radiator, and overall labor; I would foot the bill for the remaining costs, including the special precautions for removal and disposal asbestos containing floors. The owner's (Dan) responsiveness to all my questions was immediate. The workmen were very careful not to damage my hardwood floors as they moved items from the kitchen to the dinning room. They used tarps to keep dirt to a minimum and always cleaned up at the end of the day. The crew leader, Mario, has a keen eye for design and was able to offer many solutions to the problems that my old kitchen presented, e.g. walls not plumb, etc. To a man, all the workmen were polite and punctual. The work was completed over seven days.
Description of Work: Removal: asbestos containing floor, base cabinet, radiator, dish washer, counter top and sink. Installation: new porcelain tile floor, new radiator, counter top (laminate), sink, dishwasher, electrical line to box, custom wood moldings

I called to get an estimate on a small bathroom remodel job in a Philadelphia row home. The gentleman who came out was punctual. We discussed the project, and he had a different vision of the project than I did. After the meeting he followed up with an estimate of 12K for the labor alone, and I would have to buy supplies. I thought the price was way too high and called another contractor that a friend referred me to. The second company's price was $3200 for the labor and I spent about 4K on all the materials (tiles, tub, lighting, cabinets, toilet, faucets, pipes, wiring, etc.). The second company moved the tub, reworked all the plumbing, installed new exhaust vent, moved radiator, installed new wiring, and did an excellent tiling job for a quarter of this company's cost. In addition they repaired old pipes in basement, changed the stack pipe to pvc from bathroom down to basement, and glass blocked a rear basement window for an additional $300. Did I mention that the job was done in 7 days, dremodeling estimated 3 or more weeks? dRemodeling is a rip off. I would suggest hiring a Mexican owned contracting company. The work will be far less expensive, and they will be out of your house in a reasonable time.

dRemodeling is one of the most respectable remodeling companies in Philadelphia. We have over 30 positive reports (with “A” ratings in the last 2 years) and we have won Angie's List Super Service award two years in a row. For most of the projects that we have been awarded and completed, our company has had the lowest bid or the client had thought us to be the best choice for their project. However, it is impossible for any company in this business to consistently have the lowest price estimate for each project that they bid on. This customer suggests to hire a “Mexican owned company”. dRemodeling carries all the licenses and insurance required by law to successfully and legally complete high-quality remodeling projects. All of our employees are trained and certified. Additionally, our team includes a licensed electrician and a master plumber. As owner of this company, I am a trained construction engineer with multiple licenses and certifications in the construction field. dRemodeling is also EPA certified. Our company may not be able to compete with the prices offered by a “Mexican owned company”, but keep in mind that these companies are often uninsured, unlicensed, un-certified, and may employ illegal immigrants. I can promise you that our company's work will be more affordable and a higher quality than other comparable companies based in the United States. We continually complete successful projects with satisfied clients. I am sure that this customer got what he paid for in terms of quality and attention to detail. To clarify a few facts, our bid was actually lower than he listed in the above review. Our bid also included materials that he provided for the hired company. We also specified that the estimated completion time may be “up to three weeks”, depending on the final layout and the complexity of materials to be installed. This client also stated that the hired company repaired old pipes in the basement, replaced the plumbing stack from the bathroom to the basement, and removed and replaced a basement window with glass block. The customer says that this work was done for only $300, which is an unrealistic estimate considering time, labor, and materials. Although dRemodeling cannot promise to always have the lowest bid, we promise to always provide the highest quality of work at an affordable price and in a convenient, realistic time frame. Our team is made up of trained and licensed professionals who will undoubtedly complete the job properly the first time, and our clients have repeatedly been thrilled with the results of their projects.

At the end of the project we are very pleased. We have had people over to see the work and they ooh and ahh. It is really nice. I have not had any problems with Dan, any of his guys or subs. We were not happy with the architect. There were a couple of issues that arose early in the project. We felt if the architect had paid more attention in the beginning those issues could have been avoided. You can count on Dan. He is a good guy and has good people working for him. But I would advise to hire your own architect. It was stressful to live here throughout the whole project. We had a refrigerator and a microwave in the garage for a long time. Things did not always go as planned, as it was a long project. They did start a little late because they had problems at the previous job before us.
Description of Work: They completed a large addition to our home for us, including remodel of living room, dining room and kitchen and added a 2nd story addition with a bedroom, master suite and a bath.
