The remodel went well with only one minor issue that was promptly corrected. All of the work team was very professional, accommodating and friendly. My questions and concerns were answered promptly either by one of the team at my house or by Dan via email. I absolutely love the final product. I would most definitely use this company again and highly recommend them.

I was very excited to contact dRemodeling LLC to remodel a small bathroom; however, I was shocked when I inquired about an in home estimate and they informed me that it would be a fee of $50 just to come out to the house and look at the bathroom. The fee was because I requested the appointment be after 5 pm when my husband and I are both home from work. I was told "we understand that many potential clients have work during the day and need appointments in the evenings or on weekends"...I guess they understand- they just think working clients with full time jobs deserve to pay more. Very disappointing!

Dear customers, Recently we have received some negative reviews due to our after-hours and weekend estimate appointment policy. Currently, we offer FREE estimates Monday to Friday from 8AM to 5PM and we charge $50.00 for appointments that are conducted outside of our business hours or on weekends. Some of our customers are only available only weekends , holidays or late evening hours .This fee was introduced as a way for our company to prevent an increase in overhead costs. We are a very small company with very few employees. We pride ourselves in having a skilled, multidisciplinary team--however this means that the people coming out for estimates from dRemodeling are also the designers and project managers who handle your project. We do not use salespersons that work on commission . We believe that this fosters an unmatched understanding of client needs and the existing space, and helps the team that works on these projects get to know the client right away. That being said, these are also people who work 8 to 5 hours as our clients and future clients do. They have families and obligations outside of our office and completely understand the difficulty of scheduling within standard work day hours. To ask our dRemodeling team to stay beyond a full work day is difficult for us with regard to overhead expense. We have asked for the $50 fee ( refundable if an agreement for doing the work is signed ) as a way to offer after hours and weekend visits to our customers but to also support the team members who are conducting these visits during weekends, or late evening hours. It is important for our future customers to note that our estimate appointments are not simply a quick visit with price provision. We take measurements, photographs, and spend time speaking with customers about their every need. We conduct a full remodeling evaluation and provide a detailed proposal with proposed drawings, material lists, and estimated costs. We spend, on average, 1.5 hours to get to the customer's location, measure the space, discuss ideas, and take pictures. In addition to this, we spend 3-4 hours per proposal to create the most thorough written estimate possible for each client who comes to us for work. This fee has been perceived by clients as a penalty or disrespect. We never intended for this and have decided, based upon customer dissatisfaction, to eliminate this fee. Please be assured that all estimates will be FREE of charge from now on regardless of the day and time of the estimate. On behalf of Remodeling, I apologize to the customers who felt disrespected. Dear Member, I apologize that you were dissatisfied with your experience with us. Our records indicate that we did receive a call from you once and that this was during a time that I was out of the office. My assistant took all of your information, after which we contacted you a couple of times via email and phone to attempt to schedule an appointment. After several emails and voicemails, and having not heard back from you, we assumed that you were no longer interested in an estimate. I am very surprised to see your review here, as I believe we did everything we could to schedule an estimate appointment and apologize that you do not feel this to be the case. Also, with regard to our receptionist, I apologize that you do not feel that she was 'warm and fuzzy'. We pride ourselves in having an answering service that is very professional and customer-service oriented. I do believe that any negative experience that you encountered with the receptionist was either a misunderstanding or one-time event and is not indicative of our customer service approach. We appreciate you contacting dRemodeling and are sorry to hear that you were displeased with your experience.

I chose to contact dRemodeling for an estimate based on the good reviews I read on Angie's List. I called and left my information with a woman to get myself on their schedule. After a week or so with no response from the company I received an email from them saying they reached out to me but did not hear back so they were going to set something up via email. We scheduled them to come out to my house on Monday, August 13th at 10 AM. They never showed, and I never received a call from them saying they would not be out to my house for the estimate. I finally called them and spoke with someone who said a technician would be in touch with me. A day or two pass with no response from them. I then receive an email from the woman who set up the appointment with me apologizing for the whole thing and saying that Dan could not make it out to my house because of a family emergency that required him to go to the hospital. She asked to reschedule, which I did, because I know that emergencies happen. Before that day even comes though, I receive an email from Dan himself. I was told that they called both contact numbers for me and he even left a message for me explaining that they do not perform work in my area. Throughout the entire experience I never did receive any calls or voicemails from them, and I know that cell phones can be so-so with reception etc. but it seems that they were the only number(s) that I had an issue with. I know that my cell phone (and absolutely my home phone) were in good working order. Here is what really irked me, the email reads, "My assistant Joanne did a mistake and schedule the appointment without checking the location of the project and this caused the problem with me not showing up ." Wait a minute, I was told that there was a family emergency that required Dan to go to the hospital, and he is now telling me that because of a scheduling conflict/my location he did not show up. What gives?! Why couldn't someone simply check my address prior to ever scheduling an appointment? I did not think that would be such a difficult task. I am extremely disappointed in how this experience turned out. From start to finish, communication and honesty seemed to be completely lacking.

Dear Member, It is with deep sincerity that I offer you an apology with regard to your situation and complaint. This situation was entirely my fault. Please know that I am guided by the strongest ethical, honest, and professional principles and did make mistakes on this project. I completely understand that you are very upset and I am very sorry for this; particularly now that there is nothing we can do to mend the situation. To explain, you called us and my assistant scheduled an appointment with you. I was responsible for coming to your house, however I did have an emergency and had to be at the hospital with my wife who needed surgery. This, in all honesty, is not a fabricated story. I asked my assistant to reschedule, which she did. One the day of the appointment, I checked your appointment and realized that your location is more than 1 hour and 40 minutes from our office. Our company offers services within 30 miles, or a 1 hour drive, from our office. Because of this location, it was impossible for us to offer services. During that week, I had taken several days off from work and it is entirely my fault for not checking the location. Further, it was wrong of me to act so last minute in the checking of this and in the notification of this to you. Please accept my apologies for this error in service on my personal behalf and the behalf of dRemodeling

For us, dRemodeling was a model of what a contractor should be. They protected all surfaces, touched up any areas affected by the demolition, and always left the work area neat and clean. Their work was meticulous. Dan and his crew, particularly Mario and Vlad, were completely professional throughout, and in fact, were a pleasure to have around. They checked with us frequently whenever there were choices to be made, and responded very well when some changes arose. When they discovered a 10-ft crack in a cast iron drain pipe stretching from the roof to the basement, they had the resources to get the pipe replaced quickly and at a reasonable cost. They applied high standards in their work, and it shows clearly in the end result. We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We hired dRemodeling LLC to completely remodel two bathrooms. This included gutting the existing bathrooms, ordering and installing all new fixtures and tile, including a whirlpool tub, ceiling fans with vents, and grab bars. During the work they discovered that the main drain in our 55-year-old house was leaking; they repaired it quickly and completely at a reasonable cost.

A person emailed me back and we scheduled an appointment. I had described in detail the things I wanted to have done to the house which was very general including some painting and some light construction. I took off work half day on the day of the estimate and went home and waited.... and waited, and waited, and called, and waited and waited some more. When I called, it was an answering service and they had no idea where the person was who was supposed to come out. I left my name and number numerous times, and was told that they were going to page the owner right away yet still heard nothing back. You can imagine my frustration. I called the next day and got a call back pretty soon from the owner who seemed very apologetic. He asked if we could schedule again and I said yes because hey... things happen and he also seemed very sincere. He showed up right on time for the second appointment... he had apologized for the missed appointment, took a few pictures -- I again described in detail the things I wanted to have done to the house and so he said would get back to me with an estimate. A week went by and I had heard nothing from them. I emailed him a week later and asked about the estimate. He stated in an email back that they didn't feel they could do the work. (scratching head) What? I wrote back and let them know that it would have been nice to know that they don't do painting and light construction (coincidentally the services they have listed here and on their website) before I wasted a lot of time just trying to get an estimate for the work that I described to them long before I even made the first appointment. (And not to mention, thanks for letting me know that you weren't going to even give me an estimate.) In his response it was very that clear he didn't understand at all the point I was making and he just kept reiterating that they don't do that kind of work. again.... what? The owner actually seems like he is probably a nice guy normally but this experience was crazy frustrating. I would definitely never even try to call them again. RESPONSE TO CONTRACTOR RESPONSE: I'm sorry to say this -- but this response is 75% a complete misrepresentation of our interaction. I am actually shocked at how this contractor has just outright lied about the entire experience. The truth is, this contractor never contacted us after his visit. We had to continuously contact him to attain information. It is also certainly laughable that he says that he provided us with alternate contractors... that is just simply an absolute lie. Miraculously, we have yet to give any other negative reviews to any other contractors, we haven't even had any problems with other contractors (from Angie's List), even the ones that decided they could not bid (because there have been others with other projects). So no, I am not "upset" that they didn't bid on the project because we realize that happens. Once again (because I've tried to explain this to him so many times now through emails) this contractor misses the point of our frustration with our experience with him which is that its how we were treated that was the most frustrating part -- and now, afterwards, this constant justification (because there have been many emails) of his actions without ownership of anything is just unacceptable to us, as the [potential] customer. As a business owner, perhaps its best to just own up to the fact that you messed up this time, it's just that simple. To the rest of this response... so much of it is untrue that I don't even know how to rationally respond to it except to reiterate that my review was an HONEST account of our experience with this contractor. That's all I can provide.

Dear Customer, I am sorry to hear that you have had a disappointing experience with dRemodeling. First and foremost, I apologize again for the complications with your initial appointment. Second, when you contacted us, you sent us an email listing all of the work that you needed in your house. The list was not strictly painting and light construction and included: 1. New flooring (upstairs and downstairs) 2. Wallpaper stripping and painting of all interior walls (upstairs and downstairs) 3. Kitchen remodeling When I arrived to conduct the estimate appointment, I was surprised to find out that, in reality, the project scope was popcorn ceiling repair and some painting work. After visiting the site, I contacted the homeowner to explain that, taking into consideration the scope of work, we are not the best choice for the project. I made recommendations for other companies who may be better suited for the job. This particular job was not something that a design/build company typically takes on. The best route for you to remain cost effective, in this instance, is to hire a wallpaper removal company (there are several throughout the Philadelphia area) and a painting company. After the removal and repairs are completed, I would suggest hiring a painting company. This truly would be the most realistic option for cost efficiency and quality for your specific needs. As a business owner, it is very difficult to turn away any business opportunity. However, dRemodeling always puts customers first and we believe that our company is not the best choice for the project, we will step aside and not place a bid. Sometimes when this happens, customers do become very upset. We understand this but do hope that you know that we are acting in the best interest of the customer.

I emailed the company with a complicated tile job. Dan responded in 10 minutes with a list of intelligent questions. I received his response to my answers in another 10 minutes. It became clear that my job was not appropriate for D Remodeling (I live in a concrete structured bldg.) However, Dan made several good suggestions to point me in the right direction to getting my job done by another contractor.

In response to this review, we would like to clarify the circumstances further. To begin, our company offers a large amount of services to clients but cannot accommodate every request in every location. To remain efficient and cost-effective for our customers, we do not take on projects in certain locations nor do we accept work that falls into a differ it trade This is not due to a lack of experience, licensing, or professionalism. In short, if we do not believe that we are the best company for the job with regard to offering the best price for the work to be performed, or if we believe that it would take our company more time to complete than is realistic for the customer's needs, we recommend other options for the customer. We are a company of honesty and integrity; we recognize that we are a small business and not everything is realistic for us to complete. In this particular situation, the customer asked for a service that we do not typically provide. Further, the job would have to be completed in an area that is outside of our service area. The customer contacted us with his request after which we responded requesting further information about the project. After this point, we evaluated the request and decided that we would not be the best company for the job. We wrote the customer a very polite email explaining the situation and offering our condolences with regard to our discomfort with the project. As one of the best remodeling companies in the country, it is not our job to accept every request that comes our way. Instead, it is our duty to customers to provide the highest quality work possible to ensure safety and happiness in every project. On some occasions, this means declining work that will not result in the best possible result. Discrediting our company for declining a project in an unfair evaluation, particularly pertaining to areas that we do not service and services that we do not provide.

We searched for quite awhile for a contractor that understood how we wanted to remodel our master bathroom and dRemodeling stood out immediately as a perfect choice. Dan responded to our initial inquiry very promptly and provided a thorough cost estimate. Throughout the process he patiently guided us and most importantly (for me) kept us on track. He pointed us to great vendors to select the fixtures and tile and his architect was wonderful helping to select the most appropriate colors which greatly reduced my anxiety. Dan's team completed the job in the time promised and their work was beautiful. The bathroom is gorgeous! We will definitely use him again - maybe the kitchen next year?!

Dremodeling was responsive to my call and came out quickly to give me an estimate. Multiple pictures were taken of the work I was interested in having done, albeit no measurements. About a week later I received an estimate that far exceeded our stated budget. Also, despite emailing a detailed list of the work needed much of what I included was not even addressed in the estimate or addressed incorrectly, such as replacement of hardwood floor vs, refinishing them. Based on their reviews, I am sure they do very good work, but they were just not within or even close to our established budget including any overages we had planned for the renovations.

I was a remodeling "virgin" when I decided to upgrade the kitchens and bathrooms in my duplex. Dan was the perfect contractor for me because his pleasant and polite disposition never wavered through all the ups downs and delays. Some of the delays were due to my lack of experience (ordering and providing materials in a timely fashion), some due to supplier mistakes; for example Lowe's sent the wrong tub and since I was at work when it arrived the workers were forced to do some extra demolition that would not have been needed with the tub I ordered. There was also a misunderstanding about putting in a laundry area while Dan was out of the country and unable to instruct his workers as to the electrician to call. Consequently I had to call another electrician, but when Dan's electrician came to do other work on the job there was a bit of jealousy that I felt I had to smooth over. Because I was upgrading and adding appliances the electrician had to do work that I was billed for separately. Originally I thought that would have been covered in the estimate. I don't remember the reason why it wasn't. Also, since the 1st floor apt. was vacant the kitchen could not be put into working order without the gas being connected. When all the utilities were finally connected a couple of problems showed up. Dan had suggested we move the sink in the 1st floor kitchen (I decided not to do that in the other and I'm glad I didn't). The measurements were off slightly and the cabinet under the sink couldn't open fully because the stove was too close; also the dishwasher door rubbed against the pulls on the drawer and cabinet next to it. It was weeks after the job was completed that these flaws were apparent but Dan did not hesitate to send one of his workers to correct the problems. One was corrected, the other I'm still dealing with. My only complaint was with the worker he sent to make the repairs. I had a few issues with T. previously because he made changes based on his esthetic to the point of not using materials I had bought and paid for to use. In one instance his choice was not able to be changed back to mine and a special part of the kitchen cabinets could not be installed. Because Dan got me a good deal on my extras and I hadn't paid the full price I didn't bother to ask for a refund. When it came to making the corrections T. told me what he couldn't do to fix it, but when I pointed out a solution he agreed that was possible and did it. The replacement pulls I bought didn't fit into the holes already there, T. thought the touch-up kit was left but it wasn't so I'll now need to buy one and replace the pulls. As of now I don't know who I'll get to make the repair. T.'s attitude was that he didn't think it was a big deal and I could just do it myself. My plumber tells me the reason why the hot water goes cool before my new deep tub is filled is because the faucet was not properly installed, it doesn't go far enough over to the hot side. Before using my new dishwasher I followed the manufacture's guide and found the water pressure wasn't what was recommended but, the dishes get clean so I'm not going to stress out over that. I felt bad that some of these issues were not apparent immediately and I didn't call Dan about them in a more timely manner, but like I said, I was a "virgin" and didn't know any better. All in all I would use Dan again, but I would ask that he not send T. to my house.

Hello Member. First and foremost, thank you very much for your review on Angie’s List. You provided all A’s and one B in your rating, however, your written review felt as though there were more negative comments than positive ones. I would like to take a moment to explain and clarify some of the issues that you mentioned in your review: 1. dRemodeling was not responsible for the design of your space or for the provision of any materials. When the work began, everything was selected or purchased already. Honestly, there were many issues with the proposed design and the material selections; we struggled with these errors and they had come from elsewhere. We did do the very best job that we could to revise errors in the design and correct mistakes in material provision. Even if the design errors were not our fault, we did not charge you for the additional time put into these repairs (examples of this include modification to cabinet doors, material returns and exchanges to suppliers, etc). Further, I did take it upon myself personally to approach suppliers and negotiate discounts for you as the customer due to mistakes made on the supplier’s behalf. 2. During the course of the project, we never had access to appliance specifications. The desired appliances were provided weeks after the project was completed. We returned for appliance installation and made changes to cabinets without an additional charge. 3. T. was the carpenter in charge of the work. I understand and do apologize that you were unhappy with T’s changes and the way that he approached the work to be completed. However, please note that he committed to necessary changes that had to be executed and were inherent due to dimensions in the drawings being slightly inaccurate. 4. You mentioned you felt as though you had to smooth over some jealousy issues between our electrician and the one that you brought in. I am sorry that you felt as though you were in an uncomfortable situation, but please do understand that our electrician was not jealous but rather upset because he was forced to take liability for the electric work that was completed by the electrician you brought in. 5. With regard to the faucet issue that you mentioned, please consider the following: this review is the first time that we have been notified of an issue with your hot water. I am concerned about the information that your plumber has given you. There is only one way to install a faucet. The faucet that you provided has a thermostatic valve which is seated from the manufacturer at 110 degrees. If you would like the handle to move all the way in order to allow a higher temperature change, an alteration can be made from the rough valve and usually only takes a matter of seconds. Your plumber should know that all new faucets come with a preset for temperature from the manufacturer that can be changed at any time. These preset settings are a safety precaution to prevent burning accidents with consumers. I do hope that these clarifications help you understand our intentions and efforts during the project. We also hope that these notes assure other readers that the complaints noted are not relative to our workmanship. We did our very best to work with drawings that had measurements that were slightly off, and always will do our best to provide customers with unmatched quality service regardless of the situation. Thank you.

Dan and his crew do a wonderful job, are easy to communicate with, and are extremely pleasant. In general, Dan is just a nice guy. He's reasonable with prices and doesn't cut corners. My only complaint is that he often takes much longer to both start and complete jobs than he initially estimates. The kitchen was done from Jan-Mar 2010. During that time, I was away for 4 weeks so they completely stopped working while I was gone. Total the job took about 6-8 weeks (Dan originally thought 3-4). He was incredibly true to the initial price quoted and definitely did some extra work without asking for much more. The guys who work for him are thoughtful, creative, and precise. When my ideas about how the kitchen should be renovated didn't work out, they came up with other options. There are moldings throughout my house and they carefully built and replaced any that were removed in construction. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and didn't damage anything in the process. At a couple of points Dan had to reconstruct the cabinetry I'd bough in order to fit it in properly to my old, kind of slanted house. At the end of it all, the garbage disposal didn't work when it was replaced after having been out of use for several weeks. Dan thought it was probably old and overused, but I insisted that they must have done something wrong with it. Dan didn't argue at all, just replaced it with a new one for no extra cost. The bathroom was much easier but still the guys were careful to cut moldings properly, seal the granite in against the wall, and clean up after themselves at the end of each day. The bathroom looks great.
Description of Work: Dan and his crew have now done two jobs for me: the first was in 2010 when they remodeled, and partially rebuilt, my kitchen and the second was last week (2012) when they renovated my master bathroom. The first job entailed removing and replacing cabinetry, knocking down a wall and rebuilding the entryway, building a granite breakfast bar, replacing all granite countertops, wiring and plumbing tune ups, and painting the entire kitchen. All told it cost about $10,000 which was exactly the budget I'd given Dan when we first met. The second job was smaller and entailed removing our pedestal sink and replacing it with a vanity and countertop, installing a medicine cabinet, and replacing the sink plumbing.

I found dRemodeling on Angie?s List, and hired them based on the reviews I read. I had already gotten two estimates from contractors recommended by friends. Dan?s estimate came in right in the middle. I liked his professionalism from the beginning. He didn?t try to razzle-dazzle me, he didn?t confuse me... he was plain-spoken and inspired my confidence. The entire job lasted two months in duration, though they did not work on the property every day. The crew was fast and they were expert. The workers were pleasant overall, and extremely hard-working. I got tired just watching them. One crew member was particularly expert. He did the electrical, and how he ran wiring through the attic and into the vaulted ceiling seemed like an aerial act. It was amazing. He also spotted an unsafe electrical item in the pre-existing wiring, and eliminated it. I am grateful for that. One thing I liked about most of the guys is that they seemed... happy. I felt comfortable with them in my home. They were professional and courteous. Early in the project Dan, the owner, determined that the number of windows/doors I wanted would mean too much labor going through the cinderblock and rebar of my existing wall. So he offered to take the entire wall down and rebuild it in wood. This is how I got the extra 100 square feet. I originally didn?t think I could afford to expand. But Dan gave me a great deal on the extra footage, and did not charge me for demolishing and rebuilding the wall. This was a great value; as was getting a proper concrete floor for no extra charge. I also appreciated the fact that they discovered and called my attention to the concrete floor in the first place. The architect Dan provided was great. He suggested custom compact stairs to save me space. The price was great, and they saved me 3 feet. The stair design is innovative, and the whole thing -- landing, bannister, stairs, with a closet in the landing structure -- is beautiful. Each specialty stair was hand-sanded. I should say ?lovingly?... you could tell the guy who did the woodwork adores working with wood. There was a minor problem with the look of the finish on the landing in a couple of small spots, and when I called Dan?s attention to it, he had the crew fix it the very next day to my satisfaction. This minor issue was the one and only item I had to request a fix on... really good with a job this size. The stair structure exceeded my expectations. It is beautiful as well as practical. Another item that exceeded my expectations was the 6-foot picture window I had them install above the sliding glass doors. It?s a plain window, but the crew framed it beautifully and left the wood natural on the inside. I would not have thought of this detail on my own. It is absolutely stunning -- the one-foot deep natural wood molding around the window is a show-stopper. Throughout the project Dan?s communication was excellent and personable. He responded quickly to emails. He was happy to make suggestions on finish items, as was the architect. Dan provided weekly updates on project status and cost, so there were no surprises. At the end of the project, the crew did a fantastic job with cleanup. Again, beyond the call of duty: I had a pile of crushed stone lying around, and one of the workers used this to fill in some areas around the site, tamping it down, filling between stones -- much appreciated. When I told my friends I was using someone from Angie?s List, rather than a company recommended by people I know, they expressed concern. But I have to say that using dRemodeling could not have been a better decision. I plan on using them again when I remodel my bathroom.
Description of Work: We started with my crummy garage, circa 1955, 18x9’ with one small window and no entrance into the kitchen. I already had removed the garage doors and added sliding glass doors to the front. dRemodeling adding 100 sq. feet to the width of the room, breaking through the ceiling into the attic, converting the space into an artists' studio with vaulted ceiling. They demolished the exterior wall, expanded the room, then added a sliding glass door, two windows, and a large picture window over the sliders. They also broke through the cinderblock wall into my kitchen, added a door, stairs, and landing to connect these two areas. The stairs were necessary since the kitchen is at a higher level than the garage. The work necessitated adding a 4' foundation wall. During demolition, they discovered the floor of the old garage was composed of cement poured right over dirt -- not good. So they demolished the entire floor and redid it correctly, adding gravel underneath. Amazingly, they did not charge me extra for this. The scope also included architectural drawings, flooring, installing new electric, lights and fan, and custom wiring to accommodate my specialty needs for using two kilns. In order to save space the architect suggested a custom compact staircase. I had never heard of this type of staircase, but it saved me 3 feet.

This company is completely unprofessional. I never received a response and still havent heard from them.
Description of Work: We did not use this company. We planned on having our bathroom remodeled. Thomas came out of the estimate, which took 15 minutes on 4/19. He took pictures and said we would have the estimate by Tuesday, 4/24. Nothing was received. I emailed at the end of the business day on 4/25 to see if they had emailed the estimate. I received a response on 4/26 that Thomas was out of the office on Wednesday and he was waiting for approval on the estimate and I would have it no later than 4/27. I never received an estimate and sent a follow on 4/30. I never received a response.

Dear Member, I would like to apologize for any inconvenience. We hold customer satisfaction to a high priority and value the needs of our clients and the relationships that we gain from them. There must have been some confusion, as I was the one in fact send the proposals to you to the email address you had on records. . However, due to possible technological errors (spam folder etc ) , they must not have reached you. We did not receive any messages from you, as we have an identification system on our telephones and nothing was found in our records that show your calls or messages to follow up. We still have your proposals if you are still interested in working with us. I assure you that this misunderstanding was an honest mistake, and that in no way is it a reflection of how we treat our customers or the quality of work that we do. We are a company with a wealth of experience and we are good at what we do. The time it takes to review a space will vary depending on the type, scale, and condition of each specific project, so I am confident that the length of Thomas's stay was appropriate time to understand your remodeling needs and get enough information's about the existing space and the scope of work . . If you have any other concerns or would like to speak with me personally to clear anything up, please call me at 267-808-2612 or email me. Thank you. Dan Dragomir

Overall the installation was picture perfect; with the entire process taking 1 solid day.
Description of Work: I contracted dRemodeling LLC to replace a existing staircase between my first floor and basement with a modern floating staircase design. Many phone calls and emails were exchanged prior to scheduling the installation; but the end result was a fantastic (and structurally solid!) staircase installation.

We found Dan's company, dRemodeling, on Angie's List and contacted them with the phone number provided. They took my info and Dan got back to me via email right away to schedule an appointment for Saturday (at our request). He showed up as promised on Saturday, on time, and we discussed our project - a total remodeling of a small bathroom in a two story row house. Three days later Dan sent us a proposal with price for the project plus a listing of additional prices for extra services such as door installation, etc... After we accepted Dan's proposal, their designer intern sent us a questionnaire about what we are trying to accomplish. He later responded with some suggestions for fixtures, tiles, and color schemes, which we were not particularly helpful to us. Dan referred us to tile shop and online fixtures store - both offering us Dan's contractor discount. They also created a very detailed floor plan diagrams with fixture locations, tile layouts, and measurements. We also wanted wall tiles to run from floor to ceiling. Dan explained that his proposal only covered tile work from floor to vanity level, and that floor to ceiling tiles would cost an extra $1,000. After fixtures arrived and tiles were purchased, they got to work. We moved out to our out-of-town apartment while they did the heavy work. Two weeks later we come back to a nearly finished bathroom! And the tiles look absolutely great! Special kudos to Dan's tile installer! The only fixtures they did not install are the ones we were slow to purchase. Now that everything is complete, they asked for permission to come in to clean up construction trash and take few pictures of our new bathroom, which we of course welcomed. During the demo, they identified some issues with my bathroom exterior such as stucco cracks and rotten support poles. We tried to hire Dan to do this work as well, but he declined, citing that they focus on interior design. No problem. They do what they promise very well. Overall, we are very satisfied with Dan's company, their work ethic, and responsiveness.
Description of Work: Our remodeling project involved a complete demo of the old bathroom. dRemodeling first created a detailed layout diagram to picture our desired new bathroom with fixture positions and floor plans. Once we agreed on it, they demo'ed my old bathroom uncovering numerous issues left by the previous contractor. They fixed everything prior to building up the new bathroom. They installed a new bathtub, toilet, vanity, porcelain tile on floor, ceramic tile on walls floor to ceiling, and dry wall where necessary. Wall tile design also involved installing accent mosaic with marble sticks. They moved the air duct to a new spot and did all the electric work for new outlets. They also installed a European towel warmer which was not designed for U.S. bathrooms, but they showed some creativity and still made it look good. And finally, they installed a new bathroom door. The only minor "glitch" is that they couldn't figure out how to install the privacy lock on the bathroom door, so that is still an issue for me. After work was done, they took out trash (including old door).

He and his team were spectacular at every step of the project and consistently exceeded our expectations. We appreciated that we were consulted when our plans suggested things that they believed would be better accomplished in another manner (most of the time they were right). We were also delighted by how shockingly little dirt and dust escaped into other parts of the house--particularly since much of the messy work was being done during the year end holidays (plus Tudor, the foreman, won the affection of our teenager by refusing to crowd up her room to store building supplies over Christmas--even though that meant the team had to be extra creative in figuring out where to place things in our compact city row house).dRemodeling does good work, at a good value. I recommend them highly (and kind of miss seeing the team now that they are done...).
Description of Work: We hired Dan to transform our unfinished basement into a stunning family room with full bathroom.

I paid my initial fee which was reasonable ($50) for them to come out and look over the site, hear what I wanted, and then provide design with estimate. The major flaw was that the design did not incorporate the required elements that I said I wanted - like a pantry unit for example, and moving the ovens away from refrigerator. Also their estimate was overly optimistic in pricing the appliances that would be purchased so their overall estimate was misleadingly low.
Description of Work: I had them provide a design and estimate for our kitchen remodel - they were prompt and pleasant - however they did not provide designs that incorporated the elements that I asked for and after two iterations, I gave up and used another designer who provided a design that exactly fit my requirements on the first go!

Dear Member, I am sorry to see that you were not satisfied with my company, and I apologize for any inconvenience that we may have caused. However I would like to clarify some facts. Awhile ago we offered an online promotion that included the following services: Site evaluation, scope of work review, price proposal for work and kitchen design for $50 (normally a $250+ value). The customer had purchased the “Coupon” and contacted us almost 1 year after the promotion had ended. Meanwhile the customer was out of our normal service area, and wanted to use a coupon almost 1 year expired. However we scheduled an appointment to honor the coupon. I met with the customer, took initial measurement of the kitchen, and produced existing condition drawings. Also we provided a scope of work, basic proposed plans, and a list of materials and quantities that she would need for the project. As for the appliances cost – the sky is the limit. Without having a project budget, I provided her a cost based on base level products that notified her that the project budget would vary depending on the quality and brand that she ultimately would choose. The customer was provided with a proposal and related services that took a lot of resources from my office to produce. Indeed it was not a complete kitchen design with 3d renderings and the plans were basic AS IS plans with couple option for the new proposed layout . We initially charged the customer the $50 for the coupon that she had purchased a year before. When she told me that she was unsatisfied with the proposal and basic plans that we provided and asked for a more elaborate and detailed design; we offered her a full refund on the $50 that she had spent on the proposal and the remodeling assessment. I am very sorry to see her unhappy with our services but from my point of view we did our best to fulfill her request. 1) we honor an expired coupon 2) we travel out our service area even for us it meant not placing a bid for doing the work 3) we sent her drawing of existing an proposed space 4) we sent her quantities of materials and pricing for all the materials . 5) we issued refund when she said that she expected more than she got.

Dan was easy to talk to and got back to us quickly with resolutions. The job took 8 weeks from demo to finished product. House wasn't being lived in while construction so it was easier. Work was done quickly and effeciently. Workers, for the most part, were polite and helpful. They did an excellent job. Positive comments from all who have visited my "new" place.
Description of Work: Kitchen demolition and rebuild start to finish. Tore down walls and expanded kitchen area and added a breakfast bar and plumbing and electrical for the entire kitchen. Moved and installed new heating/cooling vents. Installed new hardwood floor through out the living/kitchen area. Installed kitchenmaid cherry kitchen cabinets. Georgous backsplash and other glass/tile inserts. Recessed lighting and all new doors installed. Bricked up window in Kitchen which expanded the cabinet space. Vendors Dan recommended/used were very good and timely. Painted entire first floor with professional results! Masterbathroom demo'd and relocated closet to make bathroom larger than original. Installed a glass shower with beautiful tile work. Hall bathroom tiled 4' up on the walls and to the window in the tub area. Installed windows in both bathrooms. Added a laundry room with plumbing and electric in the middle bedroom. Also added a new door to the back yard to make a true "mudroom". No more lugging clothes up and down the stairs..

It went very well -- they gave me updates whenever there was a problem, and kept me informed as to what their schedule was going to be.

They replaced the flooring, walls, ceiling, tub, and all of the fixtures, turning what could be considered an ugly apartment bathroom into a gorgeous house bathroom. They worked with me to keep the price down, and made sure they left the area clean when they left every day. Truly professional.

Dan was super professional and punctual. They have a little different way of going about the whole design and remodel process, which was kinda cool but kinda strange. He came over and briefly looked at my bathroom and a few other areas of concern, briefly. A few weeks later Dan sent an estimate. The next step would be to decide on a price and then only would we discuss design. I guess they want to make sure that we knew what we were getting into before they even wasted time on designing for someone who is still only a prospective client. I did enjoy the fact that I would pick out everything in the bathroom and purchase it myself and then they install it.... rather than having to agree on something they suggested. I am currently getting other estimates and seeking financing, so I can't say i've hired them yet. But they aren't out of the running. I would hire Dan based on his punctuality and fair pricing. I also liked how many positive responses he had a Angie's List!
