They were very good scheduling and adjusting time for initial consultation and visit. But after that I didn't send any feedback. A few weeks passed when I decided to email asking about my quote when they replied that they couldnt do the job because it was too small. They should have either contact me sooner to tell me that or simply avoided consultation time saying that the project was too small like other contractors. It was frustrating.

This was a most disappointing experience, given how highly-rated Dremodeling's services are. Our conclusion was that Dan is a very busy, successful owner who doesn't always have time to oversee bid/quotation work himself, and sends less experienced staff out to do initial surveys and provide quotes. Unfortunately, the general nature of the quote we received, its lateness, and the fact that it included no project duration or start-finish estimate dates led us to conclude that we would be better off with any of the other service-providers to whom we'd spoken: all of whom demonstrated a much deeper understanding of our project's challenges and came back with far more practical, specific suggestions and quotes. From recent Angie's List reviews, we were already prepared to wait a while for a response after our initial call and e-mail. That was exactly what happened. It took 2 e-mails and 5 phone calls over the course of more than 2 weeks to book an appointment. However, at this stage, we felt that it was worth persisting if the quality of the work was really that good, so we did. On the positive side, the designer who came to look at our kitchen site was punctual and very sweet. But I found myself becoming nervous after she made a number of suggestions that were highly impractical considering the existing structures and the scope of our project. Example suggestions were: removing a wall (really? a load-bearing wall?); re-locating a powder room to the opposite end of the basement (hello, cost and risk of moving sewer lines, anyone?); and -most surprisingly of all - re-locating a washer/dryer to the opposite wall (an inner wall with no access to either water lines or the outside for vents). She mentioned that she had no experience of Trinity-style basements, but I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt so didn't voice any of my concerns too directly - beyond mentioning that we'd better omit very ambitious structural work in order to keep the project scope under control. We were told that we would receive a quote by the following Friday, but we didn't. After calling a couple of times, the quote reached me after having first been sent to a wildly-misspelled version of my work e-mail address. (Hey, why not call me right away if the mail seems wrong or bounces? Or why not get my name correct in the first place when I've already spelled it out - over the phone and in person - at least 3 times?) After receiving the quote document, we decided not to take things any further. What we received was a standard template for a kitchen remodel, with nothing that was specific to our project. Because the document was a standard template, it included a few items that we hadn't discussed and left out several areas that had been discussed. It didn't include an estimate for how long the work would take or when it could potentially start. What was most surprising about this was that this document was presented in the form of a contract. The designer stated in a follow-up email that the price actually included what we had discussed - but why would anyone sign a contract unless it specifically covered the relevant scope and details?! I was also puzzled by her references to "the sketch we made", since I'd assumed that she was making a sketch for her own reference: I was never shown what she had drawn, either on the day or afterwards. My husband and I agreed that we weren't using our time well in attempting to sort this one out. We didn't want to spend $30-$45,000 without feeling 100% confident in how our project would be managed, and what kind of contract we'd be asked to sign. We're disappointed. We did our best to give this company the benefit of the doubt at every stage until persisting any further just stopped making sense. We're still giving the benefit of the doubt in giving a C rating - we'd like to believe that we had a bad experience with what seems overall to be a very good company.

After the initial estimate, Dan was helpful in coordinating the project via phone and e-mail. Mirel and Daniel worked on my project, they were extremely polite, respectful, professional, neat, knowledgeable and explained me and kept me informed of the progress of my project. They were open to suggestions as well. I would hire them again without a doubt for my future projects.

We contacted dRemodeling for an estimate. We filled out an online form detailing very clearly the work we wished to have done. We received an email back scheduling a time for the estimate. Dan arrived at our house a little late for the appointment, but was apologetic. We did a short walk-through of the rooms where work was to be done. Dan answered each question with "no problem" and said that they could certainly do each thing we asked. Dan snapped a few pictures and took a few measurements but did not write a thing down. I thought this was quite odd since the estimate would surely be based on the sizes of rooms and the exact nature of what we wanted done. I had a short list of questions to ask him about the business and the renovation process which he tried to brush off. Dan seemed in a bit of a hurry to leave. Before he left he told me we would have an estimate within a week. This was on a Friday. On Monday we received an email stating that they would not be bidding on our job since they were all booked until March and because our job was outside of the scope of their expertise. I am happy for them that they do enough business so that they are booked solid but they never even asked us what time frame we were looking to have the work done in. If they were booked up until March Dan should have known that before the appointment. Also, we very clearly stated what type of work we wanted to be done before they even scheduled an appointment for an estimate. If our job was outside the scope of their expertise they should have already known that and not wasted our time. We both had to take the day off of work in order to be home for the estimate. I realize they are a small company and have to be picky about the jobs they take. I just wish they would have been more upfront with us from the beginning. I also would have appreciated a little more professionalism during the estimate.

Dear [removed member name] , We were disheartened to see this review, especially 8 months from the date of the estimate. We would like to clarify a few items. 1) You contacted us and send us a list with the scope of work a. We were definitely interested in your project based on the scope of work you sent us . Most of the work you listed was within the services we offer. I would not have wasted my time or your time if the initial list required a service that we do not offer . 2) We schedule an appointment and I admit that I arrived only few minutes late ( less than 15 minutes) for which I apologized 3) We discussed about your project we did a walk through . As you stated, I did take pictures and measurements 4) We discussed your time frame and I answered what questions you had. If you wanted more detailed information, I would have gladly sat down and discussed it with you if you had asked When I go to an estimate my main purpose is to understand the scope of work , look for any technical issues in order to prevent problems prior to the start of construction, take enough information’s ( such as pictures and measurements) so we can prepare an accurate estimate for the scope of work and be able to design the space if need it . I been doing in the remodeling industry for over 7 years and prior to this I was a construction manager and a structural/civil engineer for a large company in Philadelphia. In this position, I actually designed and built roads, bridges and buildings. I assure you, I do not have to take excessive notes to create an accurate estimate when the scope of work is a simple job tile replacement in the kitchen and drywall and insulation installation. As you stated I took measurements and pictures. After all, pictures are worth a 1,000 words. In your case the reason for sending you an email stating that we cannot place a bid on your project was your deadline. We felt that due to the demo work being done, that the need for a suitable contractor was more imminent that most projects we bid on. We weren’t physically able to accommodate the scope of work in a timely manner and in consideration of our potential clients, we regretfully declined this project so we wouldn’t use up their valuable time considering us when they could move on in their search. As always, our number one priority is our customers and we strive to keep them happy, even if it means declining a project that we would love to do.

I called and scheduled an appointment for an estimate on Saturday at noon. My wife and I both work so the only time we could meet was on weekends or evenings. I had an email confirming Saturday at noon. Friday, while I was volunteering for work, dRemodelling left me two voicemails, once to say they were running late and a second to tell me they were at my house. Once I finally was able to call back, the estimator (Dan?) was telling how upset he was that he had to drive an hour to my house and that I didn't show. After reviewing my emails to make sure I didn't make a mistake, I called him back to tell him that I had emails confirming the Saturday appointment. He agreed that his office made a mistake and said he would call me that day or the next to arrange something. It is now Sunday evening and I have not heard from these folks. I don't particular liked being told how upset a company is with me over there mistake and while I was willing to move past that issue, the fact that they did not immediately call back to attempt to reschedule and simply ignore the previously scheduled Saturday appointment is unforgivable. I don't know what kind of work these people do, but their customer service is abysmal.

Dear [member name removed], I apologize for the inconvenience. You are correct, my assistant added you in my calendar for Friday and not for Saturday. This is a honest mistake on our end and I apologize. While I was driving to your house on Friday I called to let you know that I was on my way. It was a 50 minute drive and I wanted to let you know that because of traffic I might be a little late. When I got to your house nobody answered the door, I left my business card and left. We then spoke on the phone and I realized about the mistake that was made and I told you that unfortunately Saturday we would be unavailable. I apologize for this . It is totally our fault –for mixing up the schedule – and I wish that this never happened. I know that you are upset with our customer service .. but this was merely a scheduling mistake. This occurred on Friday afternoon, and we planned to correct and reschedule on Monday, as our office is closed on weekends. However, on Monday morning we read this review and figured that you would not be interested in working with us any longer. I apologize for any inconvenience and I wish you good luck with your project.

Cheyanne was very pleasant. We appreciated her time and energy in asking us about our bathroom needs. The problems arose when we were told we'd have an estimate within a week. One week from 5/24 is 5/31. No estimate on 5/31. No estimate on 6/4 either which prompted my phone call. I spoke with Cheyanne who indicated that Dan would be emailing me with an estimate. She confirmed my email address. Today is 6/10 and still no estimate. We would have really liked to have used them but their unresponsiveness is seriously concerning. We guess they're no longer interested in business?!?!?!? The entire experience is very disappointing. We're onto the next contactor. Wish us luck!

Dear [member name removed], We strive to get our customers the necessary documents as soon as we can so that they are able to make a timely and informed decision. In this particular case, we had sent out our cost estimate as promised but to an incorrect email address. Once we realized our error, we had sent it out again to the corrected address. For us to get our potential customers their estimates is our number one priority as we can’t offer our services unless this has been sent out of our office. We would never delay an estimate, as this is our first and most important connection from our business to our future clients. We apologize for any inconvenience and resulting frustration this may have caused. We would like to also note to any future customers to always be sure to check your spam filter as our proposals can easily be picked up these filters. Dan Dragomir

:Overall it went very well. There are five things that I really appreciated about them: 1-Their on staff designer was very helpful in helping me think through my options and suggesting ideas based on my desires for the space. She was also really good about me changing gears half way through, and didn't seem annoyed at all-even though she had already invested a lot of time and effort. She was very professional, knowledgeable, and nice! 2-Once they started the project, they came every day and worked full days until the project was complete. I felt that they were making my project a priority, and was very grateful they weren't like some contractors who juggle so many projects that they start your project and then don't return for several days. 3-They really did a good job. I am a meticulous person, but I did not once have to ask them to redo anything because it looked sloppy. 4-They did a very reasonable job of cleaning up the job site and hauled away all the debris and packaging materials. They also vacuumed. 5-They were responsive to my daily questions via email. Usually I'd get a response from Dan, the owner, within a few hours or a day. There are two minor things I did not appreciate about them: 1-The workmen who came were courteous, friendly, and professional, but do not speak English fluently. At times this was a little frustrating. However, the fact that Dan was responsive to my emails compensated for this lack. 2-A few times Dan's emails to me came across as curt, defensive, and slightly argumentative. But I let it pass, and in the end it all worked out.
Description of Work: I hired dRemodeling to remodel our master bathroom. They have a designer who helped us design the remodel, they totally gutted the old bathroom and made a new one according to my specifications, which their designer helped me with. Just a note that the $13K included labor but not materials. The actual cost of the renovation was double that.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed, honest, and glowing review! We always appreciate the feedback after having spent so much time and effort on a project, we love to hear how our clients felt about the process as a whole. We feel that you hit everything square on the head, even down to our European technicians! We believe in equal opportunity for all of our professionals and are happy to have a range of nationalities on staff. We would also like to note that due to our hands on approach to construction management, a lot of our responses are sent via wireless connections at the job site and apologize that any of our brevity in answering to questions or concerns comes off abrupt. Thank you so much for considering dRemodeling for your project - we would love to work with you again (and we just may!).

We used Angies list exclusively to find three quotes, and we couldn't be happier with dRemodeling; within a few hours of contacting dRemodeling, Dan called to set up an appointment to meet us and look at the space. What impressed us most on first meeting was Dan's integrity and straightforwardness; he got right down to business without getting into a sales pitch. He let us know that he structures his quotes based on labor hours, and then you pick your materials (and then you control those costs based on your selections). That made a ton of sense to us. He also let us know about the types of items that would make a bathroom project more labor intensive and therefore more expensive (recessed niches, putting in an exhaust fan, the addition of a handheld shower, extra outlets, removing a window, etc.) Our old master bath was peculiar (at best) featuring a giant soaking tub with a cramped corner shower, bizarrely low countertops, no storage (other than under the leaky sink,) and a very odd hexagonal "man window" directly over the toilet (allowing the gentleman of the house to peruse his domain when standing in front of the toilet.) After meeting with Dan initially last November and discussing his quote, we started emailing with his designer, Crystal, right around thanksgiving of last year. (All of the design and preliminary task scheduling happened over email, which was great.) Crystal took a look at a Pinterest board we had going, and asked us about our needs for the space. She sent us a design board with specs and dimensions, with pictures focusing on materials. After we finalized the design, Crystal emailed us a list of materials with prices; dRemodeling ordered the materials for us a few weeks before Christmas. Once most of the materials had arrived, we were on the schedule to start work in January. The guys had wrapped up the majority of the project whole project by the end of February, and the shower glass was installed in March. Dan suggested someone come and attend to punch list items and that got wrapped up last month. In summary: the process was managed clearly, communication was good, we were invoiced promptly and the final product is beautiful. Working with the team, we felt we were treated fairly and like valuable customers; (when there were a few boxes of extra tiles at the end, Dan credited our account.) I would absolutely work with Dan and his team again.
Description of Work: Dan and his team completely gutted the existing master bath on our flipped house that we purchased last fall. dRemodeling gave us a stellar new bathroom for a reasonable price. Dan’s team (Designer, Crysta, Dan, onsite craft crew: Ovi and John): 1. Demo’ed our existing bathroom (without making a huge mess of our house – they put down paper/plastic to protect our master BR floors, and had a shop vac onsite the whole time to clean as they worked – thank you!) 2. Designed a custom, new, gorgeous space for us, via collaborating over multiple emails spearheaded by their designer, Crystal; the dRemodeling team managed the ordering and inventory of all the job materials. 3. Swapped the location of our shower and toilet, with the appropriate plumbing/waste water work in the crawlspace and bathroom walls. 4. Drywalled, taped and painted the bathroom walls. 5. Installed new tiled floors and tiled the majority of the bathroom walls, tub surround, shower interior (w/recessed niche) and sink backsplash in white subway tile; graded and installed natural stone tiles on shower floor. 6. Framed and installed a new tub frame and tub. 7. Reused our existing (new) toilet to save us money. 8. Built and installed semi-custom, solid wood cabinetry, including an in-cabinet additional outlet. 9. Installed a new exhaust vent fan (we had nothing before), including venting it to the roof. 10. Installed all new fixtures including faucets/spigot/showerhead/an additional handheld shower/mirrors/ light fixtures/etc. 11. Worked with both the countertop and glazier subcontractors for a painless installation of quartz (countertops, tub decking, and shower and door threshold) and an edgeless glass shower. 12. Removed an existing window, and replaced siding on the exterior of the house. 13. At Dan’s suggestion, returned about a week after the bathroom was complete to adjust “punch list” items – a great touch. Throughout the whole project, the team was communicative, punctual and hard working. As onsite decisions needed to be made, the team mentioned them to us and let us make small decisions throughout the process. Ovi was clear, made great aesthetic recommendations and was overall incredibly professional and great to work with.

Dan and his crew did a great job. They were professional, prompt, clean, and knowledgeable. The old electrical work was a bit messy but Dan's electrician went above and beyond to get it all worked out. He even made recommendations for future upgrades. The quality of the cabinets is outstanding. Dan was able to offer us several upgrades over another well known builder in the area a that wanted to charge us $15,000 more than Dan's price. There were a couple issues along the way but Dan was always responsive and quick to return emails. He always made any of the issues right. Having started this process with another contractor and having gotten several quotes I am glad we ended up working with Dan. Quality work with great value.
Description of Work: We have a early 70's era house with a modest kitchen and dining room. They combined the two room to make a large eat-in kitchen with an island and upgraded two large picture windows. They did everything from demo to finish work including electrical and appliance installation as well as relocating baseboard heating and plumbing.

We found dRemodling through a Groupon for a kitchen remodeling consultation in December 2010. Dan visited our home and provided several design layouts for us to choose from. He took pictures and measurements and explained the whole dRemodling philosoply to us. After reviewing Dan's designs, we were sold. We were going to start our project in January 2011 but had to postspone. Dan was very flexible and understanding. Finally in January 2012, we were ready to start. Dan walked us through the process and made it easy for us to meet with suppliers and to select the materials for our new kitchen. He provided design ideas and guidance. We even made some changes on the fly that Dan was able to incorporate into the design for us. The follow-up from Dan was excellent. We always felt that he was managing our project and on top of what was going on. He was always available for us if we had questions. Overall, the project took several weeks to complete. We could not be happier with our new kitchen. It won't be long until we are ready to start our next project -- a new bathroom.
Description of Work: dRemodling did a great job on our kitchen remodel. We planned to complete this project in 2011 and had even signed a contact and made a deposit. Then my husband had a stroke and we had to postpone the work. Dan could not have been more flexible. He even refunded our deposit! Finally in January of 2012 we were ready to start and Dan helped us through the whole process, from design ideas to recommending suppliers for cabinets, granite, tile, lighting, garbage disposal, and sink/faucet. All the work was done in a timely fashion and the crew was awesome. My husband was still home revovering and they were able to work around him. They were very neat and did their best to keep the dirt and dust down to a minimum, not an easy task when you are doing demolition and removing old kitchen cabinets and a soffitt.

Here's my story, but I'll tell you how it ends first. dRemodeling is AWESOME and I would use them again and again and again! We are extremely happy with everything from the quality of the work to the professionalism and knowledge of the guys who where in our home for weeks at a time. We got several estimates for our bathroom renovations. Dan Dragomir from dRemodeling came to our home and really listened to what we wanted. There was NO pressure to sign with him and he clearly explained our options and how he would work within our budget. We've had contractors provide us with "fuzzy" estimates where we couldn't really tell what exactly we were being charged for and where we could save some money. With dRemodeling, everything was clearly spelled out in terms of labor, materials, and any special items we wanted to include. We never had any question or doubt that we were being charged correctly. It was there, plain as day! Mario, Val, Alain and the rest of the team were unbelievably professional. They arrived on time, and laid out the floor and furniture coverings before beginning any work. At the end of the day, they cleaned everything up so nicely, you would never guess we were having work done in our home. The first day when they completely gutted the master bathroom and removed all the tile and fixtures, they vacuumed and swept the bathroom so well, you could eat in there! I don't typically eat in bathrooms, but if I did, I wouldn't think anything weird about eating in that gutted but "spanking" clean bathroom. Mario is a true Artisan when it comes to tiling. We told him what we THOUGHT we wanted in terms of tile design and he would come back with other suggestions that we hadn't even considered. He showed us new ideas based on our objectives (one idea of his even saved us some money and it turned out even more beautiful than my original idea). Thank goodness for Mario! All of the guys worked very hard and long hours, even coming on Saturdays when necessary. There was quite a trust built and we had no reservations leaving them alone in our home for long periods of time. That was a VERY important consideration for us. When everything was done, we had a BEAUTIFUL Master Bathroom, a gorgeous guest bathroom, a brand new basement powder room that looked more like something out of a magazine rather than what used to be cement floor and walls, and beautiful new tile in our main floor powder room. Exquisite is the word that comes to mind. I wish I had more bathrooms for them to do. Thank you so much for all the work! I wanted to give them all a big hug - especially Mario who really carried this through to the beautiful end!
Description of Work: Completely gutted and renovated Master Bathroom and upstairs guest bathroom. Built basement powder room Re-tiled flooring in main floor powder room EVERYTHING was done beautifully, professionally, on time and on budget! We could not have picked a better company for the job!

This company was very professional and worked with me in a way I was comfortable. This job stretched out over many months due to product delays on my part. Dan accommodated all my timing issues and came back in a timely fashion to finish the job. The men were punctual, courteous and tried to protect my home. I supplied all my materials except a few and found that most of the time my prices were better on line. I would have liked to have met with the tile contractor before I ordered my tile. When using strickly a tile man you get to discuss your design and the materials needed according to the size of the tile and the job site involved. I felt it would have gone smoother and more accurate ordering of the tile if I had met with the actual installer before hand. We are very pleased with the overall outcome and the quality of their workmanship. If you had a problem Dan would try his best to accommodate you. Thank you again.
Description of Work: We had one master bath totally renovated. One bathroom updated but not a new floor. The powder room was totally renovated also. My dressing area was all replaced too.

I paid $50 for Custom Kitchen or Bathroom Design and Full Set of Plans. I was expecting more detailed plans, but I had a nice meeting with Dan. I ended up using a contractor who I had used before, but I was impressed by the high marks other Angie's List people gave dRemodeling.

We chose dRemodeling to do our kitchen renovation because their contract was well written, clear and detailed, and they offered exactly what we were looking for, at a competitive price. Our project took about seven weeks to complete, and we love how our new kitchen looks and functions. All of the workers were consistently on time, hardworking, and great at their craft. Whenever unexpected issues arose, such as finding mold behind one of the old cabinets being removed, they would show us immediately, and help us find the best solution. Regarding materials, we greatly appreciated all of Dan's help in getting us what we wanted for the best price. We absolutely love our new cabinets and countertop. They were also flexible during the project. By that I mean, when things come up that make you, as the customer, desire a change from the original plan, Dan and the workers will patiently work with you to figure out what exactly you want. For example, my husband and I ended up realizing, after some confusion, that it would make more sense to take the new flooring beyond what was originally planned, through the dining room from the kitchen. Dan talked us through the options, and once we decided that we needed to change the scope of the project in that area, his guys immediately got to work tearing up the dining room floor and extending the new flooring throughout another entire room for us. Also, the additional costs were always fair in these instances. There were a couple of times where my husband and I became stressed during the project, but Dan would always email or call, and work through the problems with us. I've come to realize, from hearing stories from friends and relatives about renovations gone bad, that our project went relatively smoothly. In other words, you're bound to have a couple of difficult, confusing, or frustrating moments during a big, long, expensive project, but everything always worked out in our case because dRemodeling is a company where they are committed to getting it right. I'd like to add that I was home a lot during the project, because I'm at home with my two young sons. Every single employee who worked on this project was wonderful. They were courteous, respectful, always kind and gentle with my kids, clean, and considerate. To me, that's one of the most important aspects of having people working in your home. You must feel comfortable. Our new kitchen is exactly what we dreamed of having. Thanks for making it a reality for us.
Description of Work: tearing down existing wall between kitchen and dining room removing old flooring, cabinetry, appliances, and lighting electrical work, including new recessed lighting, new pendants over island, moving the location of ceiling light over dining room table, updating other electrical work, new exhaust fan electrical work in two bathrooms in order to install fans for ventilation painting the kitchen installing the following in the kitchen: tile flooring backsplash sink countertop cabinetry island appliances Just want to mention that our approximate cost, noted above, includes the cost of the labor, as well as the materials we chose for our project. dRemodeling is great beause, in their estimate, they include their labor costs, but the final cost of the project will vary greatly depending upon the materials you choose. They'll give you a rough estimate of the cost of certain types of materials, but then leave it to you to decide what you want to spend. The way they organized their estimate really helped us to envision how our own particular budget would work with their labor costs.

We couldn't be happier with the kitchen we got or the work that was done for us. They were able to start a few days early. Most days they also showed up early to the job site. When we ran into a problem with the floor heights, people came in on a Saturday to fix it so that they kept on schedule. They mostly got what we were looking for with the kitchen and when they didn't they were very good questions and communication. We ran into a few unexpected issues that made things a little more expensive. The floors being not level I mentioned above was probably the biggest. I feel that the extra charges were well explained and fair and due to the diligence of the workers, they didn't really effect the schedule for the job. We now have a kitchen that functions so much better than what we had before and that has been getting rave reviews from the people who have seen it. We're looking at remodeling our bathrooms soon and, as long as they are available, dRemodeling is doing the job.
Description of Work: dRemodeling was one of several remodelers we asked to look at completely redoing our ktichen. By far, they were the ones we were most comfortable with and their price was competitive with the others. Our remodel was a near complete tear down. We had two room that we wanted to turn into one kitchen, so we had them remove an entire wall and put in a support beam to handle the load. As part of this, they needed to build up the floor from one of the rooms so it was level with the other. We replaced everything in the kitchen (cabinets, appliances, sink) and put in a whole new layout including an island.

Dan and his team are the picture of professionalism. Their work was immaculate and was everything that I wanted. The workers were extremely diligent and careful, down to the very minor details. This is no rush recommendation either - I've waited a whole year before writing this to make sure that my satisfaction was the same as it was when they finished the project a year ago. Needless to say but I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing remodeling and would assure them that they will not be disappointed!
Description of Work: I remodeled my dining room and living room by removing (or covering) the outdated hollywood ceilings, removing an old wall mirror that spanned an entire wall, and painted both rooms.

We utilized DRemodeling for our master bath and kitchen in a 90 year old home which was desprately in need of being updated. Dan and his team did not disappoint at any turn. The communication and responnsiveness will force you to rethink your views on working with contracters specifically in regards to real time communication and working on the days and times expected. Every week Dan sent us a status report on the job including all tasks completed in the current week, tasks planned for the following week and a summary of all work done to that point as well as remaining. DRemodeling helps schedule appointments to go look at various show rooms for fixtures, tiles, etc and then once you decide, his team does the purchasing at contractor prices, keeping your costs down and preventing you from becoming a possible middle man in case something does go wrong with any of the supply, as Dan & Team will be in a position to help in case something like that were to happen. In addition, he was very helpful with 3rd party references, such as with Yeager Woodworking for the creation and installation of a custom bench and pantry (seperate review.) The job did run into some minor delays, but these were due to a leak in the roof and delay in supply of some supplies; in neither case were delays due directly to either DRemodling or ourselves, yet Dan & Team had no problem rescheduling to accomodate and the communication and dependability -- as per the above -- made these delays relatively minor v. extremely major; which would have made this project a nightmare, instead of a smooth experience from end:end. 6 months later, we are yet to see one single incident of anything which would tie back to quality, or lack there of I should say. In summary, we would abolutely reach out to, and work with, DRemodeling in the future - 4 stars all the way.
Description of Work: Kitchen Remodeling: We swapped out all appliances, installed new countertops, installed backsplash tile & painted. We also expanded the size of the kitchen with a major reconstruction via a new window which helps convert an outdoor porch into an indoor mud-room adjacent to the kitchen. The old kitchen appliances were then set up in the basement as a secondary kitchen woth new gas, exhaust and water lines to support. Master Bath Remodeling: Completely demolished old bathroom and expanded the size of the room by moving the wall further back into an adjacent closet. We installed tile floor and backsplash, a self standing jacuzzi tub, a shower w/ dual heads and body sprays and custom glass doors. We also installed a new toilet and sink w/ vanity which is indented into the wall.

From start to finish, working with Dan and the entire team at dRemodeling was a positive experience. After much research of many contractors, I found dRemodeling on Angie's List. I was very impressed with the large volume of positive ratings that they had on Angie's List. We were looking for a contractor who was very experienced, capable, honest, flexible, trustworthy, reasonably priced, and one who could offer a full range of services and skills, including interior design. dRemodeling was a perfect match for us. Once I submitted an online request for information and an estimate, I received a very prompt response including an email and phone calls. We set up an appointment and Dan came to our house on time and very prepared. He was very thorough and patient with us and listened to all of our questions, comments and ideas, and answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. Likewise, we were glad to hear his ideas and suggestions as well. He clearly had a good understanding of construction and renovations as well as our needs and wants and he proceeded to work on a very detailed estimate which he provided to us within just a few days. We had ample opportunity to ask questions and request any changes to the contract before signing and Dan was very helpful and easy to work with. Once the contract was signed, we began the process of the planning and design phase. During this time, we worked with Dan and also their architects and designer. This process was time consuming as we were renovating a large empty space (about 1,000 sq ft) that would be divided up into several rooms and areas. What was once a large empty and bare basement now consists of a TV/family room, custom built-in desk area with granite countertop and cork backsplash, game room, kitchenette area with granite countertop and glass tile backsplash, fitness room, a good-sized storage room and a large utility closet, a walk-in closet, and a reach-in closet and all new oak hardwood staircase. Their approach to this planning and design phase is to make every possible effort to have all materials (including finish materials) selected and of course, to have every detail of the framing, electrical and plumbing decided as well, before beginning the construction phase. Also, I should mention that we were rookies at renovating and had a definite need for guidance. Dan and his architect/designer helped us to stay focused and organized throughout the planning process. The architect/designer did meet with me at my house on one occasion and it was an extensive planning session. After that visit, we communicated primarily via email. She was a huge help and although I would have liked to have had more meetings in person with her, we managed to accomplish what we needed to in an efficient manner which helped cut some costs as well. The architect/designer had both practical and creative suggestions to incorporate into our floorplan and design. I think my favorite idea of hers was the custom bulit-in desk area to be used for crafts and general work space. In our original floorplan this desk area was going to be a closet, but with her help we designed ample storage in other areas and now this desk is a family favorite space. From the day we signed our contract until the day we began actual construction was longer than we originally anticipated. However, there were numerous reasons for this, and I attributed that delay to both us and dRemodeling. The bottom line was that we were not upset by the delay, and we were more concerned about "getting it right" than rushing to just "getting it done". This was a large project that required a lot of planning and preparation on our end, plus we had a death in the family during this time which caused me to put this remodeling project on hold for a bit. I think the permit process and scheduling may have played a role on dRemodeling's end. But, once our construction began, the crew was consistently on site every day until completion. One of my favorite TV shows is "Holmes on Homes" on HGTV. Mike Holmes' motto is "Make it right. Do it right the first time." Well, Dan Dragomir and his team at dRemodeling do just that. They also focus a great deal on customer satisfaction as well as approach every aspect of their work with a positive attitude. The entire crew of workers was incredibly skilled and professional. With the size and scope of our project, I think I probably met every single one of their employees, although a few of the guys were here more than others. I never once got the impression that they were attempting to cut corners, and the quality of their craftsmanship was superior to any other we've seen. (We are experienced homeowners, but new to renovating.) At one point, we found ourselves wishing they could build an entire house for us because we appreciated the quality of their work so much. It goes without saying that they were very respectful of our home and were a pleasure to have around. Dan and all of his team consistently involved us in the construction process to make sure that we were getting the end result that we wanted. They seemed to "aim to please" at all times. Also, we could choose finish materials from any vendor or merchant of our choice but on a couple of occasions we asked Dan for suggestions of where to shop for things (eg., granite & tile) and he gave us good ideas. Dan was very generous to pass his contractor discounts on to us on more than one occasion. Some of the more challenging tasks of our project included the construction of the custom desk and the replacement of the staircase. I soon learned not to worry about the details of how they were going to accomplish these things. Their carpenters are truly amazing at how they approach situations, design, build, and problem solve. And, as far as I could tell, they all work together very well as a team. They kept me informed and involved in the process and gave me every opportunity to have the job done to my satisfaction. Throughout this project, Dan was excellent about keeping in touch with us and following up on things that needed to be done next. He was very good about keeping the project moving forward and staying on track, yet he was flexible too. When it came to scheduling the final phase of the project, he was just as consistent as he was in the beginning and middle of the project. The total construction time for our project was longer than originally estimated, but we also added numerous change orders. Dan was very flexible with us when we did request a change. I suppose it's inevitable that even with diligent planning and preparation, one will still choose to make changes along the way. Sometimes it's just impossible to know how something will look until you see it firsthand. Now that our project is complete, we are loving our new living space. We would definitely hire dRemodeling again!
Description of Work: dRemodeling finished our completely unfinished basement. Prior to hiring dRemodeling, our basement consisted of cement floors, cement walls, bare rafters, and was basically used just for storage. They helped design the entire space (approximately 1000 square feet), framed it, installed all electrical wiring, outlets and fixtures, drywall, insulation, and paint. They also installed (and helped design) a kitchenette which included cabinetry with LED under-cabinet lighting, sink and related plumbing, granite countertop and glass tile backsplash; as well as designed and installed a custom built-in desk with cabinetry and LED under-cabinet lighting, granite countertop and cork backsplash. They also replaced our old staircase with all new hardwood oak which they stained to our liking; and in addition, removed a wall and installed a banister, balusters, and a post to open up that staircase. Also included in their design and installation were closets and storage nooks, doors, all flooring, trim, moldings, and baseboards, shelving and any attached accessories. The entire cost of the project contracted with dRemodeling was approximately $60,000, which includes about $15,000 that we paid toward finish materials installed by dRemodeling.
