Overall the project was a travesty, lacking business professionalism, honesty and any evidence of knowledge of roofing. After the project scope, cost and start date was agreed upon, the project was postponed by D A Virelli several times but without me being notified. I would learn that they weren't coming as scheduled only after calling to verify the meeting date and time, so I could have funds available for payment and also be on site. Project work and workers were sloppy. Workers broke the copper air conditioner freon tube but would not admit to doing so or take responsibility for it. Upon contacting HVAC contractor regarding this issue he verified that tube was in perfect operating condition. Debris and nails from demolition and install clogged my down spout which had to be removed by me. Nails and debris were scattered in the street and sidewalk which took me over an hour to clean up so as to avoid anyone getting hurt or a flat tire. Workers came through house rather than accessing roof via ladders and tracked tar and dirt onto hardwood floors and ignored it. When asked to remove it the job was just as sloppy as their roofing work. I was told not to worry that if there were any further problems that they guarantee their work and would make necessary repairs. Later they denied having offered me a guarantee. After installation, the shingled roof still leaked as did the roof deck membrane but even worse then before they had done any work. No flashing was added to the air conditioner compressor unit platform as required and agreed to. I wasn't able to observe this until warmer weather. It took numerous calls and much time to get them to agree to do a site visit and make repairs. They were willing to come but were rarely available. When they did come, their simple idea of repairs, where they chose to admit that something may be wrong, was to just add more tar (muck from a can). The roof deck membrane has absolutely no pitch to drain water off the deck but rather has a couple of valleys where water pools up. Roofer said it was doing what it is supposed to do - hold water. It didn't appear that they had any idea about what "pitch" is and the concept of freeze /thaw issues where laying water freezes, expands and causes damage to a flat roof membrane. On one of two occasions where I was able to finally get them to come back on site, I was called a liar stating that there was no leak, that I was making up the entire story despite evidence of standing water on tarps and severe interior ceiling and hard wood floor damage. One of the workers, also a member of the Virelli family, advanced at me swearing to the point where I had to call the police. Problem with leaking escalated into build up of black mold and the destruction of ceilings and hard wood floors in two rooms. Took issue to States Attorney General but I couldn't produce a receipt do to all my personal belonging being in long term storage. Owner of D A VIRELLI wrote a letter to States Attorney General stating that he had done no work for me but that some of his workers did work for me at a reduced price and with no warranty. The business card I was presented with at my home by Michael Virelli after having contacted D A VIRELLI for roofing services stated D A VIRELLI and had the exact telephone number I had used to contact the owner of D A VIRELLI. The contractor who had recommended that I call D A VIRELLI contacted the owner and suggested that he do the right thing and correct the problem for me but he refused. Due to this lack of professionalism, the other contractor will no longer deal with D A VIRELLI. The problem remains unresolved to date. I had the roof problems reviewed byseparately by two professional roofing contractors with both separately agreeing that the job, mainly the roof deck membrane was sloppy and terrible and absolutely done incorrectly. I have a two page memorandum supporting this observation and conclusion.
Description of Work: I contacted D.A. Virelli Contractor, spoke to Donnie/Dominic? Virelli regarding multiple roof issues for a slopped shingled roof and for a flat roof deck.
