I had a new vinyl floor laid in my kitchen on 6/24/13 and 6/25/13 by Mathew Chesson of Chesson Carpets. He came back on 6/28/13 to finish up. Everything looked terrible, the flooring with all of the bubbles and creases and also the trim he installed, it was all cracked because the nails and punch he used to sink the nails was too big...he filled all of the splintered trim with caulk. He never used a roller before which surprised me, but he arrived at the house with a brand new one and tried to roll out the bubbles to no avail. He arrived back at the house on 7/8/13 and agreed the floor looked bad and said the Armstrong vinyl was defective. He took some pictures and gave me the contact information for General Floor, the floor distributor. I kept in contact with them and told them of my problem. On 7/17/13 Mathew Chesson told me that he would be getting $400 back and would refund me that amount to use on the new floor. I agreed. General Floor informed me that if they sent someone out to look at the floor and they found that it was installer error that they wouldn't be able to refund Mathew Chesson the $400 that he was going to refund me, so I decided to just go with the $400. General Floor did give me some references of contractors to lay a new floor though and when the contractor came out and saw the floor he told me what was wrong with it and why it looked so bad. Chesson Carpets laid the vinyl over the old vinyl "floating floor", causing all of the bubbles. It would cost about $2000 to pull out all of the old flooring and replace the floor. 8/13/13 Mathew Chesson informs me that he is going to keep the money he was reimbursed and that because of my claim with General Floor he lost his contract with them. He told me to take him to court, of which I am. I got nothing out of this deal but an ugly floor and I lost money in the process. I have all of his voice mails stating I will get $400 back and multiple emails from General Floor supporting me in this claim.
Description of Work: Mathew Chesson of Chesson Carpets laid a vinyl floor in my foyer and kitchen. It looked terrible from the beginning and he eventually agreed. He stated it was "defective vinyl" and made a claim with the distributor. He informed me that I would get this reimbursement just for the materials and I could use it on my new floor. He kept the money and I still have a terrible looking floor.
