I called about a year ago and got information, but they couldn't switch me over until I worked out a mess with Verizon. I called back this year, and was told that they are not taking on any new residential customers.
Description of Work: NOTE : Cavalier told me they no longer provide residential services for new customers. They only deal with businesses now.

When my homephone service went out I scheduled an appointment for repairs. Days before the appt. they called and said that they had someone in the neighborhood at that moment but as I was at work we agreed that they would keep the originally scheduled appt. On the appointed day, they did not call. I called the repairs number and was on hold for over 40 minjutes! I then called quality assurance who put me through to a repair supervisor who determined that when I was not available when they called me without an appt. they had cancelled the service call because I was unavailable! Also, because the call had been cancelled for that reason, they could not expedite a new service call. Now that my phone and internet have been out for 10 days they sent someone who got me a dial tone at the box and then said that the problem was inside the house and they don't fix that!I am going over to wifi.
Description of Work: Had they performed service I would not be upset.

When I received my first bill for Cavalier's phone service, I was shocked to find that their advertised $25 a month rate was actually nearly $50. Cavalier did not disclose the significant fees associated with their service, which are much higher than Verizon's fees. I called Cavalier to tell them that I was horrified by the fees and that I intended to change service back to Verizon. Nearly three weeks after I requested the change, I received a phone call from Verizon notifying me that Cavalier had not removed the lock from my phone line, and Verizon was unable to take the line back. I called Cavalier again, and they informed me in would take several weeks to remove the lock. Ultimately, it took approximately two months from the time I requested a change in service until the change actually occurred. Cavalier has insisted on billing me for these two months at their outrageous rate, even though their errors led to my service remaining with Cavalier during this time against my wishes. I called several times to complain about their service and ask for the bill to be contested so that my credit was not harmed while the billing issue was resolved, and they refused to either apologize for the error or put the bill into suspension while it was contested. Cavalier has a bizarre disinterest in customer satisfaction and appears engaged in a dishonest practice collecting fees by retaining phone service once a customer has requested a cancellation. If they were to acknowledge their mistake and refund the charges to my bill, I would be happy to leave it at that. By insisting on charging me for their mistake, they have guaranteed that I will communicate my dissatisfaction through every possible outlet so that other people do not fall into this trap.
Description of Work: I switched from Verizon to Cavalier phone service in an attempt to save a few dollars and give business to a smaller company trying to grow. I signed up for their basic package, which was advertised at approximately $25 per month, competitive with Verizon's price for the same package.

I have discontinued using Caviler this year. I will tell you why. They lied to me. They told me I would have a seamless change when they started my services. That was simply not the truth at all. They also said I could use my own modem. That also was a lie. I had to use theirs. When I approached them and told them how they had lied to me, they became quite belligerent and rude. I would go so far as to say they were ignorant to me. It has been several months and they still have yet to pick up their modem, which they were already supposed to do.
Description of Work: Cavalier provided me with DSL and phone services with unlimited local features. I paid them monthly.
