Very smoothly.
Description of Work: I had a leak into the 3rd floor apartment kitchen. One roofer said I needed a new roof for $10,000. Another said that I just needed a repair for $2,500. Castelli repaired the leaking area promptly for less than half of $2,500. It poured buckets today, and no leak!

Description of Work: I recently had a suggested roof inspection completed by the Castelli company. While the price was a bit more than I anticipated, the company was understanding and flexible around my budget. Great work! Great customer service (VP, Marcy, is fantastic to work with - makes you feel that everything is under control)! Will definitely hire again!

His estimate was good but we haven't closed on our home yet. He got the estimate to us a week before we thought he would, which was nice. He was able to come out early unlike other people that we had contacted. His prices were good and very fair. The prices included maintenance where they come back a year or two later and don't charge every time they come out. They would do whatever needed to be done to it and it was included in the price. They are also willing to deal with FHA203K and do all the paperwork. It is hard to find a company that will deal with all of that.

I had water damage in one of my bedrooms from the chimney. I had been told that I needed to get the flashing replaced. I left a message on 4/12 and Marcy (?) called me back on 4/13. She was up front and said that she was too busy to come so far (Drexel Hill). I was disappointed because her company has a 100% satisfaction rating on Angie's LIst, but I appreciated her honesty.

I was able to schedule the work within a week and they were prompt, worked quickly, and cleaned up afterwards. I was very pleased to find that despite a heavy rainstorm the following Sunday we had no leaks inside the house. They also suggested a better and less expensive fix for the gutters than what I thought was the solution, which I will likely have Castelli Roofing work on in the future.
Description of Work: The Castellis looked closely at the damage inside due to water leaking inside the house at various points of entry (window, doors, deck, and roof.) They were able to quickly diagnose the problem and suggested sealing with 100% silicone, flashing to divert water, and silvercoating after fixing the roof. I also described an issue with the gutter not draining properly, for which I did not have services performed at this time.

We worked with Castelli over a period of 9 months on several different projects involving our roof. We were very happy with the quality of the work, any Castelli responded promptly to any issues or concerns we had. Despite a few items that required return visits after the initial work was performed, overall we are pleased with the work done and Castelli's dedication to customer satisfaction.

Everything went great. From the beginning, Marcy Zammer was extremely helpful in responding quickly (on a Sunday) to my telephone message to obtain an estimate as soon as possible. In addition, the roof was needed for a foreclosed property that we were purchasing through 203K Streamline financing through Wells Fargo bank. Robert came out and gave us a quick, but thorough estimate, and Marcy completed all the paperwork which was necessary for Castelli Roofing to get approved through our lender to do the work. The paperwork and the approval process were time consuming, but Castelli helped us with anything we needed them to do in order to get approved. Now, Castelli is approved with Wells Fargo for 203K Streamline loans. In addition, our closing did not happen until over six months after the original closing date, but Castelli honored the pricing they originallly gave us, with some minor changes. The work was performed quickly once they got started, and Marcy was an excellent communicator throughout the entire process. Their prices were somewhat higher than other contractors that we received estimates from, however, you get what you pay for, and our roof looks very nice! I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Castelli put on new flat roofing (rubber) and removed and replaced damages terra cotta shingles with new, 30-year three-dimensional asphalt shingles.

I just wanted to say how impressed I was that I received somebody on the phone and they were willing to be upfront and truthful to say that they were too busy to come out and look at my repair instead of just coming out, looking at my roof and not returning my phone calls or not to follow up with an estimate. It just goes to show you how much this company is in demand. I hope to be able to work with them in the future. Thank you!

They came on time. They carried themselves with a great deal of professionalism and respect. Anything I didn?t like they corrected immediately, there was no back and forth. They thoroughly cleaned up behind themselves each day. When they did my roof, the next day we had an exceptionally rainy day and I had no leaks, it was completely dry in my house. Their customer service is superb. It was a pleasure dealing with them. I would recommend them anytime to anyone. I would indeed hire them again.

Castelli definitely provided the best quote for the work done, they came in and did a thorough quote and were prompt in providing it in writing. They were able to fit our project in with short notice (about a month) and they had great communication throughout the entire project. Being a family-run business, they were responsive and flexible to the changes we asked for and hustled to make our priorities their priorities. Overall we are more than happy with the work and the small gripes are well overshadowed by the professionalism and rapidity with which they performed the work. Unlike other horror stories about contractors, Castelli was easy to contact and quick to respond. They hit their timelines within reason and actually completed projects in less than estimated time. We did have difficulty with them smoking in the house, which we did not want, so please make sure you make them aware of that up-front if you do not want the workers smoking inside. Our house was empty and under full construction when they started and they did not smoke inside once we were living in the house. The ceilings went up in one day, as did the furnace and flooring. Castelli used Phong Flooring for the floor installation and they were quick and cheap with great results. They were able to take most of a nasty hump out of one floor without charging us additionally for it. Desantis Heating & Air conditioning was used for the furnace and range installation and we were more than happy with their work. Justin, the furnace installer is highly skilled and did great work, coming back to replace a section of the venting because he did not feel comfortable with the initial sizing. He also met with me for some time about the installation of a central air conditioner. Although I was willing to have him install a unit that would not have been effective, he said that he was not willing to do additional work that would have made him money but would not have been effective because he doesn't do poor work and didn't want his name on it. I think this speaks volumes as to Desantis' professionalism and work ethic. The work he did do: installing the furnace, was wonderful. The foreman, Robert was always responsive and helpful and willing to spend time looking over problems or giving me suggestions on areas of additional house work that I would be doing myself. We had purchased the house using a 203(k) loan and Castelli was willing to go along with this horribly bureaucratic payment process and the contractual regulations that were involved, but it allowed me the ability to get into a house that would have otherwise gone to the developers and been flipped. Working with Castelli, I was able to get a huge volume of work done in a small amount of time, allowing me to pick up the equity in the house instead of paying a much much higher price for one already "renovated". According to the appraisal, the house gained approximately $75,000 in value due to the work they did and the work I put into it over less than 6 weeks. That 's a contractor to have on your side. As a note, the more specific you can be with instructions, the more satisfied you will be with the outcome. They are more than willing to correct problems and change plans midway (for a price) as long as you keep in constant contact and voice your concerns. While it wasn't all perfect, I would much much rather come back to Castelli next time than take my chances with an unknown General Contractor or a series of individual contractors.
Description of Work: Laid rubberized roofing on main roof (flat), coated all roofs with UV protectant (excepting main roof, to be done after it dries completely), replaced 6 double hung windows with vinyl, laid flooring in 3 rooms, installed drywall ceilings in 4 rooms, replaced kitchen range, replaced furnace (forced air) with high-efficiency furnace. They were working in the capacity of a general contractor, but also being a roofing company, replaced the roof and capped all new windows with in-house workers. Subs were used for the flooring, the window installation, the ceilings and the furnace. The furnace was replaced with a new high-efficiency, energy-star rated furnace which required specific venting and drainage along with technical balancing. It is a wonder to look at and we are quite pleased with it. The roof was replaced in less than a day, even though they had to lay new rubberized roofing over the entire ~900 sq ft. roof plus UV coat four smaller roofs. They accommodated flooring that we purchased separately and used Phong flooring for the installation. We went with carbonized bamboo (5/8" TnG) and it looks wonderful. 6 old double hung windows were replaced with vinyl windows and this was done in about half a day and involved removing the old windows and sealing the new ones after install. They all work perfectly and are much tighter than the old. The windows were also capped from the outside to insure a good seal and reduce water penetration around the window frame.

Marcy called to remind me it was time for the recoating. Robert and his workman showed up and completed the job within an hour. I contacted the company by email and had follow up phone calls to coordinate the effort. I was a little concerned at first because most of the information I saw about them had to do with roofing. Hardly anything mentioned concrete. But after talking with Marcy and reading the consistent reviews about the quality of their work, I decided to give them a try. Robert and his 1-man crew showed up when they said they would. The work had to be done over two days because of the concrete form and the cement veneer. They were very courteous, professional and straight forward with me on all matters. On the second day, they only had about 2 hours of work to do. I paid the bill and got my receipt before heading off to work. Everything worked out as expected.
Description of Work: 1. Demolished a 2 x 4 ft sidewalk block and replaced it. 2. Poured a single step about 3 x 4 ft. that led into the front door. 3. Needed a cement veneer along the front of house. It runs about 12 feet and is about 4 inches high.

When we bought the house about 4 years ago, it had just been completely rehabbed and renovated to include a deck on the second story roof, accessible from the 3rd floor. The deck was covering in ceramic tile, but was poorly flashed and relied on caulking, which gradually failed and resulted in severe leaks below into the second floor, especially right below the porch door and siding. I looked into several roofing companies for repairs, and ultimately decided between Castelli and CityWide. Citywide would only tear off the entire roof including the balcony rails and place a new one, with the price of about $2000. However, there would be no railings and walking on it would void the warranty. To use it as a balcony, we would have to pay Citywide another $2300 for rubber paving tiles and hire another contractor to place new railings - work Citywide would not do, nor allow them to be placed through its roof. Castelli was the only company that offered to roof over the existing tiles (saying it was a flat surface fine for roofing) and around the existing railing, thus allowing us to use the surface as a deck without voiding the warranty. I spoke extensively with Marcy, explaining that our priorities were (1) no leaking, (2) preserving the porch, (3) reasonable cost. She explained that work would be high quality, and we understood that the cosmetic result would not be as attractive as the tile deck that was there. The work was done in one day within a week of my decision, and I have attached pictures. I'm no expert on roofs, but it looks durable with attention paid to all the places where water could get in: around the railings, seams, doorway, and flashing with the siding. As expected, the cosmetic result was not great but serviceable. There has been a small rainstorm, and some water pooled on the roof (see photo) without any leaking. I STILL AWAIT A BIG RAINSTORM TO BE SURE THAT IT DOES NOT LEAK. Overall, my experience with Castelli was excellent. One small issue was communication. While Marcy was very responsive, I never met or spoke to Robert, who provided the estimate and did the work. All my phone conversations were with Marcy, who was extremely knowledgeable but who presumably never saw the job. I wanted to be home when Robert came to provide an estimate so I could show his the problems (including where the leaking was on the inside), but he came on his own when I was at work. Then I wanted to know the exact day the work was to be done, but was surprised to come home and find a new roof! Overall, the the work seems very good and was done in a timely manner, the price was extremely reasonable, and Marcy was invariably friendly and helpful.
Description of Work: Second story porch roof that was leaking: installed durable granulated modified bitumen rubber roofing membrane to entire roof surface over the existing ceramic tile deck, roofing around existing railing posts to ensure proper seal, with new aluminum drip edge/capping. Removed first course of existing vinyl siding, installed flashing to properly terminate the roof from the siding.

I started out by calling a roofer that had previously done a leak repair for me (for what I believed was an excessive price), and who came promptly. Unfortunately that roofer never called back, as seems to be too typical of un-rated contractors. So I turned to Angie's list. I called Castelli Contractors and reached Marcy, their polite and businesslike coordinator. Marcy scheduled a visit within two days by the company's principle, Robert. Marcy called back with an approximate time for the visit, and called again within a hour before the visit, which actually occurred as scheduled! Robert arrived and we reviewed the scope of work and negotiated a price. The work was scheduled for within two days. The night before, Marcy called with an approximate mid-morning arrival time and the next day Robert and an assistant, after calling again, actually show up early! The work was performed quickly and efficiently, and they left nothing on the roof except the materials they had installed. The finished product is neat and I expect it will perform as advertised.

Upon purchasing our home over two years ago, we knew that our roof didn't have much more time before it needed to be replaced. This became more apparent after the roof had begun to leak in the garage area. We were researching roofing contractors when we found Castelli on Angie's list. Up to that point, all the contractors that we had contacted were giving two weeks for an estimate and up to 8 weeks to start the work. Upon contacting Castelli, they were willing to come to our location immediately and evaluate our situation, even though we were outside their normal contracting distance and with the price of gas at $4.10 a gallon. On their arrival, they were very personable and methodically examined our roof and gutter system (the main cause of our issues). In 24 hours, they turned around a very competitive estimate and discussed alternatives to keep the price low while doing what was best for the house. And as we were agreeing on our options, Castelli was very prompt in returning our phone calls before, during, and after our roofing work was completed answering any and all questions. Castelli was able to start the work promptly and had all the work completed (roof and gutters) in a week and a half. The work would have been completed sooner but due to weather delays, some work days were missed. Additionally, as the work progressed, Castelli continually evaluated the condition of our house, particularly when two layers of old shingles were removed, exposing the roof decking. They corrected multiple roof dips and did find one area of decking that was completely rotted and probably the cause of our leak. Since it was only a 2 square foot area, Castelli replaced the decking at no additional cost. Further, Castelli Contractors continually maintained our property s condition; clearing all debris and keeping a safe environment for my two young children. Of particular note, when the trash dumpster was removed, Castelli noticed some minor damage to our driveway and, with no homeowner prompting, offered to pay for any repair. Castelli backs up all its work with a strong and transferable warranty, that is, if you decide to sell your home, the warranty will apply for the new homeowners. Overall, we were very satisfied with Castelli Contractors and would recommend them to anyone (in fact, one of our neighbors has already gone ahead and contacted them). Castelli Contractors has made this a very painless and pleasant experience.
Description of Work: Replaced roofing on entire main house and additional garage area as well as installed a new gutter system, specifically: 2nd Story Main House and Additional Garage Area Roof: Put down tarp ground covering to protect grass, scrubs and landscaping. Removed all existing shingles (2 layers) down to plywood decking. Replaced any damaged plywood decking. Removed all metal flashings, edge capping, valleys, etc.. Installed new aluminum flashings. Installed 30lb roofing felt paper to entire deck. Installed 30 year asphalt and fiberglass shingles to entire roof. All roofing work included a 15 Year Transferable Warranty. New Gutter System: Removed all existing aluminum K gutters, approximately 150 lineal feet. Removed all existing down spouts. Installed new white aluminum K gutter to all eaves. Installed new 3 and 4" white aluminum downspouts. All gutter work included a 10 Year Transferable Warranty.

I got Marcy on the phone right away and got a written estimate that day (which was mostly due to luck). There was a little delay in scheduling, but once it was scheduled (about 10 days later), they showed up to do the work exactly when they were supposed to and finished quickly. So far the work seems good, but it's hard to to know for a while with a roof.
Description of Work: Installed a new rubber roof, took down old antenna, and replaced chimney cap. Will coat roof in 6 months.
