Bob Hughes Chimney Fireplace & Duct Cleaning

I cannot find enough kind words to describe Bob and his two sons with the job they did. Their level of professionalism, honesty, and responsiveness are almost non existent in today's world. I contacted him on a Tuesday to set up a time. Luckily for me he was doing another job within four blocks from my house the following day, Wednesday. He arrived at 3:30 as promised and was in and out within an hour. Bob told me the existing cap would suffice, no need to replace it. This is where the honesty thing counts. He could have replaced it and I would never have known the difference. Thank you Hughes family for your outstanding service.

Another company came and told me I was going to have to get a chimney liner and a wood-burning insert, that fixing the fireplace just wasn't possible at any price. I found that hard to believe since it had been working great. Bob came and had a look, took measurements and returned with a beautiful three-paneled iron insert just like the one I had before (but much prettier!). He installed it in an hour and moved the flue cord to a better spot--he thought that the way it had been screwed into the iron panel previously was probably what caused the crack. Bob charged me an incredibly reasonable price. He and his sons were a delight AND they restored my faith in humanity. Great guys; excellent work.

Bob Hughes and his two sons were wonderful. Bob returned my call to set up the appointment for an estimate promptly, arrived on time, and provided a very reasonable estimate. His team explained what work needed to be done and then did it very well. They cleaned up after themselves and left me feeling very sure about their knowledge and the quality of their work. Bob came with his 2 sons and explained what they would be doing. I came down to give them water and see how it was going, they showed me what they had done as far as duct work and then explained what was being done next. At the end Bob showed me the entire job and repairs. He was at my residence for 1-1/2 hours and did an excellent job. Bob and his sons were on time, very polite and there work was top notch. Charge for all the repairs was $1100 which I felt was reasonable. I will recommend Bob Hughes to all my friends and family.

Bob came out a few days before we hired him and his crew (consisting of two of his sons) to give an estimate. His estimate came in below the other three estimates I solicited. I called him on a Monday, and he scheduled the work for that Thursday---a quick turnaround. The work crew arrived at the time specified, laid down some mats to protect the floor, and went to work. Everything was completed within 90 minutes. Bob and his sons are sociable, competent guys. I would have them out again.

Everything went great, they came on time, cleaned and inspected the fire place and taught us how to use it and what to buy for the future since this is our first time owning a home with a fireplace. Highly recommended!

Bob and his sons are always a pleasure to deal with. They are expert chimney and fireplace men at the top of their game (and your house). Bob is a straight shooter; does what he says he will for the price he quotes you. As far as I'm concern he went above and beyond to inspect my chimneys. A difficult job given our 90 year old slate roof. Found the chimneys to be serviceable, cleaned debris and uncovered flaws I had not noticed. Sealed some cracks, measured my fireplaces for the installation of inserts, and made recommendations for shopping for the inserts. I would work with Bob Hughes and his sons anytime, recommend them highly, and look forward to working with them again as the work on my place is completed.

Bob Hughes is a man of his word. If he says he will call, he calls. If he says a certain time, he is there. If he needs to change the time, he contacts you. As most has said, he makes sure to be in contact with his clients and in my words today, "he is a man of his word." I appreciated how professional Bob and his two sons were. They put down cloth, so they didn't track dirt onto my carpet and they cleaned up before they left. They were polite, worked quickly, did not change the original quote, showed and explained to me what they were doing, and had a great sense of humor. One of Bob's sons is a celebrity and I forgot to get his autograph. Ha. They also took down a old antenna as a courtesy, which was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Bob Hughes and his two sons. Great job today.

It went well. They were called the night before to confirm our appointment and were on time the next day. They used their huge vacuum thru the back yard and in our basement and cleaned out all the debris and bird feathers and bones that were in our chimney. They were efficient and told us how to keep it cleaned. We were very happy with their service and would defininty use them again.

These guys are terrific. Ultra professional: if they say they will call, they call. If they say they will show up at a certain time, they phone ahead and do. They had to knock a hole in the wall in the living room, and they made the hole as small as possible and the repair will cause me almost no trouble to patch.. Overall, they did a beautiful job: gleaming pipe and very careful grouting. The guys are fun to deal with, and Bob is a real trip. They showed up at 9 am as promised, and were finished three hours later.

I hired Bob many years ago & was impressed with his professionalism, but it took a long time for me to get around to having my chimney checked again. I was just as impressed as before. He responded quickly, kept me informed as to when he would arrive, arrived on time, worked efficiently, had materials to keep everything clean, & answered questions knowledgeably. I recommend him highly.

He showed up with his sons to do the work right on time. He and crew were professional, prompt, and kept me informed throughout the day and completed the job in a timely manner, exactly as he originally explained... Everything you could ever ask for from a contractor!

Amazing. Not only do Bob and his sons know their business, but they explain every step in the process. The job turned out to be much bigger than they expected - previous owners had installed a chimney liner too small to handle our new furnace and water heater - but the Hughes were undeterred. They got the materials they needed to build a scaffold that would allow them to work on our chimney without damaging the slate roof. An expected one-hour job turned into a six-hour job, but that didn't phase them nearly as much as it did me. And hey didn't leave until they had explained and shown me everything they had done AND cleaned up after themselves so that now my furnace room looks better than it did before they got there.

Everything went well. Bob responded promptly to my call. He provided me with a general idea of the cost, then came out a measured the door. He had to order the door, but there wasn't a long wait before it came in. The installation was well done. Bob was very good about making appointments that fit with our schedule.

Called during the busy season and was able to get me an appointment a week out. Best rate of anyone I called and quickest turnaround for an appointment. Called ahead, showed up on time, and explained the work done. Can't ask for much more, so looks like we found our chimney sweep.

I was really impressed with Bob and his guys from start to finish. He showed up when he said he would, did what he said he would do, and charged what he said he would charge. When it was all over they cleaned up after themselves very well, and even went as far as cleaning off the brick dust that had been collecting on the boiler, water heater, and surrounding area. Bob's a man of few words and no nonsense, which I appreciated.

He called ahead to let me know that he would be arriving on time and even scheduled me in on a Sunday because his schedule was booked up. He came out and put the scope up the chimney and advised that the liner was still holding and advised that it might have 2-3 more years and advised that I call him next year to re-examine. I found out that he was actually the service provider that had initially installed the liner some 20 years ago! I had kept the records and showed him when he arrived for the inspection. He was very informative and professional and I would highly recommend him to others.

Went great. Bob was cheerful, prompt, and made several phone calls to let me know where things stood, what to expect etc. He came with his son - they could not have been more pleasant and efficient. They did not leave a trace of clutter - I was completely happy with the job.

I had Bob come by for a second opinion after another company quoted $2250 and six hours for my chimney repair. During his inspection, he noticed that a previous owner had poured concrete into a bend in the chimney, which would make the job unusually difficult and require him to cut a small hole in a wall (which he notified me in advance that he would not be equipped to repair). In spite of this his quote was still 2/3 the price of the other company, and he said he could do it in four hours. We agreed that he'd come by two days later to do the job; he'd call me the night before to set a time. Bob and his sons showed up on time. Even though the job was even more difficult than he'd anticipated, Bob and his sons finished on time, and he stuck to the price he had quoted. They put down drop cloths wherever they worked and at the front and back doors, and when Bob cut the hole in the wall he kept the pieces intact so I could easily repair it. Very thoughtful. Excellent all around. It's a bit tricky to get a hold of him, but it's worth it. Clearly the best in spite of his low prices.

Bob and sons arrived on time. Called the night before and two days prior to confirm appointment. He talks gruff but they know their stuff. Pleasant and friendly. Protected the floors with ample drop covers. Went right to work. Explained in detail what they were doing and why. Went on the roof to inspect. Gave me lots of helpful advice and showed my things I was not aware of with the fireplace. Used professional equipment. Much better than the last guys I used. Let me see how much stuff they were cleaning out. Cleaned the stove by hand. Cleaned the floor around stove afterwards. Were quick and efficient. Fair price. I was happy about that. I was quite pleased!

Bob found no damage or repair needed to my side of the chimney. He did find the other side of the party chimney not lined or capped and found this condition the contributor to my damage. Communication with this other household is not possible so Bob talked to the owner and told him of the condition. He suggested the least expensive fix for him is to put a cap on his side of the chimney.

ALL WENT WELL HE CALLED NITE BEFORE ARRIVED AT NINE THE NEXT DAY WORKED TILL JOB WAS COMPLETED AND CLEAN UP VERY WELL.
