Worst Choice Plumbing doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Avoid at ALL costs. Our adjacent neighbors hired them to fix a leaky pipe, which required them to dig up our sidewalk. Well they never compacted the dirt or set up any water prevention measures while the dirt needed to settle and the sidewalk collapsed on itself as a result, causing CATASTROPHIC flooding in our basement AND their client’s basement. The FIRE DEPARTMENT had to come out and shore up the hole to prevent any further collapse. We called L&I and when Worst Choice caught wind, they immediately sent a crew to actually add the preventative measures they should have added to begin with. Too little too late. The concrete company they contracted with to finally pave over the trench even admitted to us their work was not industry standard. They refuse to admit liability despite being in violation of multiple standards. Do not hire unless you want to be out a minimum of $30k! 0/5 stars!

They were slow and sloppy. We used them in 2014 to install a Diaken HP in the 3rd fl of 4 unit apt bldg then we renovated all units between 2017-2019. More than half the fixtures have had leaks or other problems. Every time there was a different crew. I overheard them saying the previous crew left errors and problems unsolved and that they were not allotted enough time to even do the scope they were assigned for that day. Their main salesman will gaslight you with promises that you have the best crew ...this round. They arrive and were not given the scope of work the salesman and I wrote up. I would have to provide and review the scope with them (acting as an unpaid foreman for them). Parts were accidentally thrown in the trash that I retrieved. Other parts went missing and never recovered. They damaged two new tubs by not putting protection down when working or leaving sealant or grease on them. When the basement flooded due to an uncapped storm sewer drain cleanout- twice- they did not assist in cleanup nor did they fix the problem, had to hire another plumber to do that. Then they tried to overcharge us, probably because they had to correct so many errors from one crew to the next. The last debacle resulted from the tub on the 2nd floor with an unconnected overflow that flooded our dining room below. They also installed 4 Heat pumps incorrectly with scrambled wiring, improper duct sizing, and improper duct installation among a few of the issues. We still have unfinished items we are working to complete. Stay away, Worst Choice Plumbing.

Absolute crooks, in my opinion. I paid $225 to have 2 drains cleared. The guy left before doing the second drain and said a guy would be back tomorrow to finish the job. The new guy came and said he's not there to clean a drain, he's there to install a new bathtub drain. They charged $150 more for him to open the wall, which he then says needs about $3K to complete. I said stop, I don't want the work, I just want my other drain unclogged. He left. I followed up for a MONTH tying to get someone out to finish the 2nd drain cleaning for the $375 I paid. They said they would come back out for another $175. Classic bait and switch. DO NOT USE BEST CHOICE for anything, in my opinion. I have never had such an experience.

I'm very surprised to see so many negative reviews as my experience was 100% great! I was pleased with interactions with the office staff and have used Best Choice twice in the past month -- once to replace our water heater and once to replace / repair our tub faucet (not a small fix but complete replacement of the central part in the wall). Both Jimmy and John, Jr. were professional, understood our price point, and accommodated what we needed in a short amount of time. They answered questions and worked diligently, with no upselling. This company is on my short list for any plumbing job!

From the very beginning, we should have known not to use this company. The very, very rude customer service lady that answered the phone at the office should have been our first sign. Sam (i believe was his name) came out to give us an estimate on a new boiler. "We only install Crown boilers. They are top of the line boilers". A few days later, a few 2 technicians came out to install it (side note: very unprepared. Went to Home Depot 3 different times throughout the day for supplies). One mentioned that he doesn't really do instillation, while the other seemed like his "intern" (not the best first impression). After a little while, I went down to see how it was going. A brand new "Force" boiler was installed. (?) Not the crown that I was sold and quoted for. The technicians could not answer why. A few hours after they left, we kicked on the heat. After about 25 minutes, we went upstairs to find that the radiator that they had been draining and servicing had a leak spraying water from the 2nd floor, running down the living room wall (causing wall damage), and into the basement. (When we called the emergency line to see how we could stop the water and prevent any more damage, we were told that they did not know when they could have someone out, or someone to talk to us. Could not have been any more unhelpful) Additionally, our hot water heater was never turned back on, a few of the plates that were put on, were backwards, the basement was soaked. Needless to say, it was not a great experience. It felt like we got played, selling us one product, and installing another. When we brought all of these issues up, and the fact that they did not pressure test before they left resulting in not catching that their was a leaky pipe, we were offered a whopping $50 deduction from the price. As a young homeowner, it was such a discouraging experience to have so many things go wrong. Would not recommend using this company due to the unprofessional customer support, lack of attention to detail, and complete disregard for what was quoted to us.--

The pipe wasn't tilted properly and so we stand in water when taking a shower. I reported this the next day. The cement mixed for the bathroom tile that had to be cut in order to access the pipe was mixed manually at 11pm in the dark by a relative of the plumber. Illegal right there, but this cement wasn't mixed professionally and it cracked the next day. It is the area where you are walking out of the tub and right in front of the sink, so our feet were getting caught in the deep holes of this cracked cement. The last job was the utility sink for the washer. First load of laundry done the next day - all the water emptied into the basement floor. The worker forgot to fasten something and it was as if there was no plumbing underneath - that is how much water emptied out and ruined my property in the basement. All this reported to the company right away - within 2 days and it took a long time until Anthony came out. He stared at the level of the water in the tub which you can see is at the very top of the drain. He looked at the sink that was never replaced and which the plumber couldn't replaced but forced it and dropped a tool into the sink creating a large divot in sink - never even fixed the leaky faucet. All three jobs done and no one would redo the mistakes and reimburse me for damage. I used this company for years for large jobs and Anthony was the guy I always got and trusted but sadly he has down on the company's records for my jobs that my complaints were not done by Best Choice. Today is the first I was told of this. Anthony told me the plumber I had gotten was fired and said the worker he used to complete the job was most likely his brother-in-law. After all the calls back to this company they are lying about the problems of their work - saying what I was complaining about was not done by them. WHAT???? He just didn't want to have to redo this work and now I am saving up for another plumbing co. to dig up the tub pipe which is an all day affair and which you cannot use the bathroom. The sink is ruined but I can't afford to fix that since I was told you have to replace the countertop with it - something this plumber could have found out by looking underneath the sink. The washer fiasco - I cleaned all that up by hand myself, after calling Best Choice to see if they could use their equipment to collect all the water from this basement.
Description of Work: I needed the pipe the broken underneath the tub to be replaced, asked for a new sink and leaking faucet, and a new washer utility sink and faucet

This has been a nightmare. We hired Best Choice to replace our sewer line from inside the basement out to the curb and install a new shutoff valve on our water main. When the estimate was done it was explained they would tunnel under the front porch and go straight into the house the same way the existing line was run. It was also explained that they would tie in the two downspouts near the front of the house. One was going to be tied in at a 45 degree angle in the front yard and the other was going to be brought into the basement and tied into the main sewer line there. I was told they would need to remove a portion of the cinder block wall between our front yard and sidewalk, which was fine with since we wanted the wall removed anyway. I asked them to include removing the entire wall in the estimate. The day the work was done I arrived after they started digging. They had already dug up the concrete on the opposite side of the house as the original sewer line and were saying something about not needing to take the wall down. I told them I was not trying to save the wall. It was clear there was no communication between the team doing the work and the person who did the estimate. I guess I should have stopped them, but they had already dug up a lot of the concrete, so I figured the damage was already done. They ended up running the sewer line around the wall and into the opposite side of the house, which is a much longer path, required digging up an unnecessary amount of concrete (both the sidewalk and on my property), and required several turns in the sewer line which I later found out are prone to clogs and hard to clean. They did refund $200 for not removing the wall, but the cost of replacing all the concrete they unnecessarily removed is going to be far more than that. The day after the work was completed on Saturday, June 9, we found the shut-off value on water main was still leaking and that the sewer pipes they rerouted in basement did not have any support. The following day on Sunday, June 10, it rained and we experienced flooding of water and mud into the basement. We saw the interior wall around the installation of the new sewer pipe was improperly sealed and that was where the mud and water were entering the basement. We called Best Choice Plumbing about these oversights. They did send someone out on Tuesday June, 12th. He attempted to fix the seal on the water shutoff valve (it is still leaking), added support straps to the interior pipe, and added some additional patching on the interior wall around the new sewer pipe. When I asked about the exterior wall he said it should have been patched, but had no knowledge of what was actually done. This series of events left us with no confidence in the work that was done and we took it upon ourselves to dig up where the new sewer pipe enters the house only to find that no patching was done on the exterior of the house around the installed pipe. Our case is now being handled by a manager, but we have not been able to actually talk to her. We have called several time over the past couple of days and have been promised she would call us back several times, but she has not. In addition, Best Choice has promised on multiple occasions to collect debris resulting from work, but it is a week later and the broken up concrete is still in our yard. We thought we were hiring knowledgeable contractors, and instead we are a week out and, as novices, finding lazy unfinished work, have a huge mess to clean up in our basement, and are being ignored by the manger handling our case. Also, the recording that plays when Best Choice puts you on hold (which I have spend a lot of time listening to) claims they have an Angie's list Super Service Award, but as far as I can tell that is not the case.

The installation of the laterals and curb traps seems to have gone fine. I was told by the workers the side walk blocks that were damaged by the back hoe would be completely fixed (the concrete blocks replaced) by the concrete team. When the concrete team came to prep the sidewalk. He told me the three blocks would be completely replaced. He came back the next day and I happened to notice him when I looked out my kitchen window. He just poured concrete in the hole made by the back hole. He told me he explained what needed to be fixed correctly to Best Choice office. He was instructed by the office to just fill in the hole. I called the office and eventually talked to Dana, she stated someone would get in touch with me after she viewed the pictures of the job. The concrete clerk contacted me the next morning after I contacted my insurance co to express my dissatisfaction with the job. He told me he would contact them and I would hear from them. She said the pictures of the concrete job were fine and she was not going to do anything else. She never offered to come view the job since I did tell her there were problems with the concrete installation. She offered to have all the damaged concrete slabs fixed correctly for an additional charge. No thank you. I was told she would have Dana call me back when I told her of how unsatisfied and disappointed with the concrete. I was never contacted again.

Terrible Lacked communication, punctuality, out of six visits, one time arrived on time. No calls to let us know they would be late. Rescheduled appointments without notifying the homeowner or our construction company. Required excessive visits to finish work that could have been completed quicker with better planning and organZation. Work did not pass inspection with L and I in Philadelphia, Pa, until they made two visits to rectify non compliant conditions. Workers would arrive and have to leave multiple times throughout the day to get supplies and materials that they should have had on their truck upon arrival.

My A/C wasn't producing cool anymore so I called them and I was told that I would be charged $ 150 up front which will be deducted from the cost of the work performed. So I agree and they send me someone who determined that was my thermostat which was defective and needed to be changed. He went to buy one at the Home Depot ( $ 140) was unable to read the instructions ,pretending that the thermostat was defective and left me with a used thermostat that he had on his car. In the mean time I had to pay $ 150. Two days later they sent me someone else (at my request) who came with the same thermostat, knew what it was doing, tooked him about five mns to install it, and then discovered that it was not the thermostat which was defective but the capacitor of the unit on the roof. I couldn't figure out the exact price of this part, but I estimate it between $ 30 to 70, and I was charged $ 250 on top of 150 already paid. I will never use the services of this company again

A sink hole had developed in the street in front of my property and Philadelphia Water Department determined that it was because of a defective lateral that I was responsible for. Using PWD's no interest five year loan called HELP, PWD gets to determine who gets the job. Best Choice Plumbing is one of their go-to plumbers to take care of these kind of issues. In 2013, BCP came out and fixed a defective curb trap for me as well. The repair required digging up the street, cutting out some of the sidewalk, and replacing the lateral. Upon completion, they filled the hole and placed some asphalt temporarily on top. Price wise I had already gathered three quotes that put the job somewhere between $5000-5200. PWD determined that it was going to cost about $3700, but that was because they did not take into account having to cut out the sidewalk and eventually replace it. When the PWD inspector came out, he informed me that BCP had not been approved to do that work but would be mandated to do so. The inspector had issue that the workers had done it without trying to contact PWD to approve the change and inform me of the price change. The matter of having the Philadelphia Streets Department coming to fix the street and BCP redoing my sidewalk are still open, but overall my experience with them has been good. In addition, their call center is efficient and accurate at taking care of customer needs.

They are extremely good. We have used them before. When we first moved into the property we are living in, within days we were experiencing flooding in the lower level, and they came and replaced the sewer drain. They were exceptional. They had to dig up the yard, and replace the pipes. Ahead of that they used the video snake to find out why were were having the problem, and they came in, dug up our garage, and they are just a really great company. We thought the price was fair.

I woke up to the sound of sewage overflowing in my basement. My usual plumber wasn't available and I was panicking, so I just started calling around. Best Choice was the only company who picked up the phone. They said they'd be able to get someone out to me within 2 hours, which they did, and they gave me a call when the plumber was on his way. He looked around my basement and answered all my questions, but he couldn't deal with the clog himself. The price to clear the line was $350 flat. They sent a second round of guys out who showed up on time and it was an easy fix. There were no tree roots or broken pipes - apparently it was a and quot;softand quot; clog. I'm grateful that they were able to come out as quickly as they did, but $350 for what ultimately was an uncomplicated cleaning seems like a lot, but I've also never had to pay for this service before so what do I know. If I was paying an emergency fee, they didn't tell me I was. The plumbers who came out could've been a bit more professional. They wanted to just barrel in and seemed surprised that I wanted to shake hands and exchange names. The first one who came to assess the problem spoke to the secretary on the phone in front of me, repeating how much the fee was (seemed fishy) and that he just wanted to get paid and go home. He told me later that he doesn't like to deal with clogs, just basic tasks like changing faucets. Maybe he was contracted out?

I had my 10'x20' patio taken out and installed (concrete) but before I could do it I had to move the A/C and then have it put back once the patio was complete. I thought I could just pick it up and move it over a couple of feet. That wasn't going to work after I realized that the refrigerant lines entering the A/C were solid piping and stiff, no play to move around. I called Best Choice and they gave me an estimate. I thought the price was crazy but after talking to my coworkers and a couple of other A/C places they were right in line. They were late on the removal of it, meaning the concrete contractors had to wait but that was miscommunication. They came out and removed it and then came back two days later to reinstall it. "Bo" put the unit back in. I tried to give him a $20 tip but he wouldn't take it. He could have taken it and I would have thought the same about him, he is a great employee at Best Choice Plumbing and I will hire them again. I hired them 1.5 years ago and was happy with them then also.

The service manager came at 5pm and when we asked for the written quote, he said he needed to leave immediately because he was parked illegally and must move his car. He said he would give us a verbal quote over the phone in about 20 minutes. He did call us back with the $1400.00 quote over the phone and told us he could have the job done the next day but we need to get back to him before 7pm. We thought the price is high, but he specifically said the price is high because the pipe would be installed with electric heat tapes. Since there is no written quote, after some discussion, we called him back around 6pm to confirm the job again. Unbelievably, when we called to confirm the job this time, the service manager told us the $1400.00 quote was only for insulation with fiberglass, not electrical heat tape. He said the quote for electrical heat tape would be around $2000.00. We are very unhappy with the way they deal with business this time, so we did not use them. We ended up using another plumber from Angie's list, who did the fiber glass insulation for $350.00. We actually used Best Choice Plumbing to replace the sewer line in 2012 at a different property, and we were happy with their service back then. At that time, we were dealing with the owner and his son directly. And we think their price was reasonable and the owner and his son are really honest people. We totally didn't expect to have such a bad experience this time.
Description of Work: It was a quote to remove the plastic cover (1 ft by 6 ft) and insulate 8 ft of water pipe behind the plastic cover. In terms of insulation, we specifically wanted a quote to have electrical heat tapes installed along the water pipe.
