 + -1 moreI chose a contractor closer to my home. Ed at Bell flooring was great however. He came to my home and gave me an estimate. Ed asnwered all of my questions in a very timely manner. The estimate was within the same range as the other contractors I called.

 + 1 moreI would like to change my review for Bell Flooring. The overall job was excellent. We had trouble with our cat getting onto the glue and that created a disaster. Having said that, the proof is in the pudding and the job is better than the builders' installation of the wood flooring in our building. I would most certainly recommend Bell Flooring for quality work.
Description of Work: We had wood floors put in two bedrooms replacing carpet.

 + -1 morewe used bell's for the purchase of ceramic floor tiles and glass tiles; they have a huge selection of interesting, contemporary, and very unique tiles and Nancy is really great - she is helpful, answers questions, spends as much time as you like, and is really easy to work with; i thought the pricing of the tiles was comparable to the big box stores with a much greater selection; didn't use them for installation since our project is in another state, but for the great selection tile that was easily available at this stored that is near center city

 + 0 moreI replaced all of the wall-to-wall carpeting in two rowhouses (4 floors each) with hardwood flooring and tile. Bells has a great selection, really knowledgeable sales people, and they know when to leave you alone if you just want to putter around and look, but the minute you have a question, they are ready to help. The staff know what other products you need (glue, mortar, etc.), they know how to estimate what you need and gladly refund any unused/unopened product. They have a big selection of on sale products. I have gotten superior products from them for the price of what it would have cost for inferior products at Home Depot or Lumber Liquidators, and the staff are so much more helpful. I replaced one floor of my current house with a beautiful 3.5 in tongue n groove knotty white birch for the same as it would have cost me for basic red oak at Home Depot. And I got a beautiful blue Italian 15and quot; sq ceramic tile for my bedroom at a steal. If you are working in a row house, you often have relatively small square footages and Bells will heavily discount the end of the lot on some really nice product. I also like that I am supporting a small, local business. I have used them 5 or 6 times and I will definitely go back the next time I have a flooring need.
Description of Work: I've purchased hardwood flooring and ceramic tile flooring from Bell's on a number of occasions. I have always had my own contractors so I have never had them install.

Description of Work: I contacted Ed who ordered materials and we gave a deposit. Waited several weeks and had to call to see what was happening.He scheduled delivery of material for Monday, August 20 and install on Friday August 24th. Our materials were delivered on the 20th and we paid another third of the balance. Thursday morning, we got a call that Bell Flooring was downstairs. I was in shock. We had prepared most of the apartment but not all. When I saw the installers I told them that they were not due 'till Friday. He said, "I know. You are scheduled for Friday but they told us to come today."We let them start and these guys were great. So neat and cleaned as they went. I didn't see any saw dust. They treated our furniture with care. No trash was left anywhere. When they left, there was NOTHING to clean. Friday, one of our crew came and introduced us to crew #2. WHY DO BUSINESSES DO THAT? We were disappointed and with good reason. These guys didn't have a clue. They Knew how to lay a floor but dirtied walls, nicked existing flooring, I will have saw dust here for the next five years. They didn't finish one part and jumped to another. Didn't tape finished floors as the others had done.I have floor glue everywhere. I have been on my hands and knees all day and will tomorrow cleaning the glue. They let so much trash accumulate. I was pulling bags of trash and folding boxes that they should have done. They are coming back on Monday to install the quarter round. Two boxes too much of flooring was ordered. I think the guys expected me to keep it. Where??????I expect a reduction for materials. Called Ed, my contact guy twice and left messages about what was happening here. He never called back.I am not looking forward to Monday when these guys return.They placed a heavy chair leg on top of my upholstered headboard. Could not believe anyone could be so stupid.Our place is a mess. I will be cleaning for weeks.

 + -1 moreWe had looked for tile for a bathroom renovation in several popular flooring stores in the area. We knew the look we were going for, but needed some ideas in our price range and style. Bell had more options than any other store we went to including the big chains, both in stock and to order. But more importantly they took the time to look through books and magazines with us and to work with us until we found exactly what we were looking for. The bathroom is awesome, and the first thing anyone says is "great tile."
