When discussing the service quote, the owner, Keith, referenced having to send his kids to private school when I commented on how expensive the windows and labor were. Red flag #1. Keith was also very pushy with collecting the deposits, but when I accidentally overpaid by $250, it took 4 months and as many emails to get a refund. Additionally, it took 4 months to get the screens installed, which are the cheapest screens imaginable. At more than $1500/window, I had expected a higher quality. The finished product was also not quite finished. We need to have a painter come to touch-up the outside, where the old frame color remains (clearly visible from the street). I would not suggest using Architectural Windows for any window/door replacements.

Installation was a day later than initially arranged. Took about eight hours. Windows planed and shaved until they fit. Workmen cleaned up afterwards and left extra paint.
Description of Work: We need to replace two rotted "eyebrow" windows on a 1939 house. Several vendors offered bids for modern casement-type windows in the $4,000 range. The local Pella outlel could reproduce what we had for a mere #17,000 ! Architecural Windows reproduced the.original windows almost excatly (but with double-pane instead of single pane glass) and even matched the paint inside and out.

We spent about $5000 with them. We thought that they did a good job. There was a little bit of a communication problem between my husband and them regarding what was going on with the one window, but the work overall was really great. They also offered to do something for us for free, so we were very pleased. They really cleaned up well afterwards and it was like they weren?t even here.
Description of Work: We used Architectural Widows Of Philadelphia in December and they replaced a bunch of windows and we are having more work done by them.

Architectural Windows came and did an estimate and had a company that would make wood windows so our house would remain historically correct. When the windows arrrived they were installed quickly and professionally. Unfortunately, the windows we got were not well made. We called Eric at Architectural Windows who came and looked at them and ordered us new ones from a different manufacturer. We were not charged for the new ones. When the new ones arrived they were installed professionally and are great.
Description of Work: Had new wooden windows made and installed.

Great. Architectural Windows takes the measurements, sits down with the Historic Commission to navigate their approval process, and then orders the windows from another company, which custom-makes all wood windows. If you want, they can arrange for someone to paint or stain the windows; we found someone else to do it slightly more cheaply. They also work with an installer company that installs for $300 per window. We hired that company, and while they were pretty good they weren't always the most careful; they banged some wood on our floor, accidentally discarded two shutter hinges, and worst of all failed to insulate some of the cavities they left between the window frame they created and the windows they installed. All in all, though, it was a great experience. Just watch and instruct the installers, and have some fiberglass and Great Stuff expanding sealant on hand to insulate properly.
Description of Work: Replaced eight front windows with all-wood windows according to Philadelphia Historic Commission requirements
