Description of Work: Update: After reviewing my March report on Angie's List, the owner called in April to follow up on the washer and dryer -- the dryer was not working. He asked to see the machines and came for a visit. He quickly diagnosed that a coil on the dryer needed repair for the moisture sensor to work, and he adjusted the belt. His approach to his work is that of a seasoned professional. He guaranteed his work saying that if there is any more problem with the heat coil/moisture sensor to give him a call back. He said the machines don't need to be replaced, explained that the flat fee is $60.00 not including parts and labor if I understand correctly and said he would discuss quality control issues with his staff. I appreciate that he said to call him if any more difficulties occurred with the dryer heating mechanism. He explained how the washer agitator/engine knob works and how to set it for different fabrics. After he left, I ran several loads of clothes in the dryer using the moisture sensor. Everything works and I am a satisfied customer. I am grateful for this follow up with repair and to know that quality control is important to A J Appliance. Original Service visit: Request to inspect the washer and dryer, fix dryer which wasn't turning and to check agitator speeds on washer. Before the dryer stopped turning, it required extra time to dry and didn't stop on its own. I asked for the washer agitator control to be adjusted as all settings seemed to operate at the same speed. I asked that if it was time to replace to let me know. Was given a flat price of $85.00 and told that this would cover all parts and labor unless it was something unusual. The serviceman replaced the dryer belt. He did not repair/replace the dryer moisture sensor, and told me that if I set the control on timer instead of moisture sensor the dryer would shut off. He said the washer agitator settings were working and that he could detect a difference in the agitator movement between settings. I was given no response when I asked about whether it is time to replace the machine(s). He then charged additional fees that did not agree with what I was told when I called for service: a $20.00 fee for the dryer belt and $8.40 deposit. I had originally been told ordinary parts would be included and there was no mention of a deposit. When I called the service number to ask about the extra charges and reminded A.J. Appliance of the flat fee, I was told that I had been charged correctly. I called back after a few weeks because the dryer was still not cutting off when on the moisture setting. I asked about replacing the moisture setting. The serviceman again said I was not setting the control panel correctly and to use the time setting. This was a work around. I did not call back for further assistance. Five months later, the machine started rattling and I stopped using it. I am thankful that the owner followed up and made repairs so that now my machines are in good working order.

Description of Work: The technician came at the specified time. He actually came the week I called in the repair but another company had me on a two month waiting list. He replaced the heating element in the Kenmore dryer and also replaced plastic dryer vent exhaust flex tube with an aluminum model (more fire-safe).

Description of Work: The company repaired our long-malfunctioning Viking range/oven. The door had never shut properly, though we have had many repair people attempt to fix it. AJ successfully fixed the door (hooray) and also replaced a faulty igniter in the oven. Finally our oven works, heats up quickly, and gets to the appropriate temperature. The company also came on short notice to fix the ignition component because friends were using our oven to bake a wedding cake. Additionally, our CO monitors had gone off in the previous week, and they checked the oven to make sure the emissions were safe. I felt reassured by their professionalism and attention to detail.
