They quickly assessed the problem during a prior visit; ordered the parts; scheduled a time to install the parts; fixed the cook top to brand new condition. The service call fee was applied to the overall cost of parts and labor. Great folks to work with. Prompt, professional, and they follow up. I have already called them for another repair job, this time on my wine cooler.

Washing machine spin cycle failed. Called for a service appointment on Monday, December 22, concerned about the holiday week posing a problem. But I got an appointment for Dec 24th; repairman showed up on time and was able to fix the washer by replacing a part - which he had with him. So no delays and I'm going to have clean clothes for the holidays! I've used AJ Appliances in the past, as have my neighbors, and recommend them highly.

Replaced the belt on the washing machine; works great now!

Did everything exactly as promised including notification of expected arrival times. I am willing to share this review but I do not want my address included.

I had a baking element fail and replaced that myself. Unfortunately, the oven still didn't work. Called AJ and set an appointment for a few days later. Asked if they could come on the early side of the 3-hour window and they did. The guy thought he might have been able to fix it fairly easily, but that didn't work and he needed another person to help him pull it out of the wall. They came back at the next scheduled appointment, fixed it with no new parts and it worked! Best thing of all is they only charged is $135 total for both appointments! Second time using them. Will go nowhere else for large appliance repair.

This is the third time they have fixed our old appliances. They have always scheduled with 1 call, within a couple days, and fixed the problem in 1 visit - absolutely no complaints.

The frontload washing machine I have seemed to be leaking water onto the floor. The serviceman from AJ Appliance quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the replacement part, and then installed it. Everything went smoothly. I was impressed, favorably, by the technician from AJ Appliance and, especially, by concierge Alexandra Geske, who orchestrated the repair. I plan to use Angie's concierge service again, and I've recommended it to others.

I had A and J come out to fix my refrigerator twice. The first time, a gentleman came out, looked at my fridge, and told me the thermostat was broken. He told me they needed to order a new one and would call when it came in. They did call when the part came in, but I dragged my feet on having them come out to install it. When I finally made an appointment for them to come out they assured me that someone would take a look at the service records before they came out. They came out yesterday while my boyfriend was home. The repairman not only didn't replace the thermostat, he charged me $90 to chip away the ice build up and told me to keep an eye on it because the thermostat MIGHT need to be replaced. When I called their customer service and asked them why the appropriate repairs hadn't been done, they said they'd call me back and then didn't call. This morning I woke up to find that everything in my fridge had gone bad because the inside of my fridge was a balmy room temperature. **Update** After seeing my review on Angie's List one of the owners of the company called personally called my boyfriend to go over our concerns. They have ordered the thermostat that needs to be replaced and have promised to credit the $90 we already paid toward the cost of replacing the thermostat. I appreciate that one of the owners of this company took the time to address and resolve our customer service complaint and A and J deserves significant credit in that regard.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. No one answers the phone ever! This means you have to leave a message every time and someone will get back to you. The person who does return your call is extremely rude! If you work during the day which I assume most people do, you either have to take off from work or quickly get home once the technician arrives. It would have been nice to know in advance that they offer a 30 minute courtesy notice. This was not mentioned to me until the woman over the phone gave me attitude because I was late letting in the tech (because I have a career and cannot sit at home for 4 hours to wait for people). I finally get through the scheduling process and someone comes out to diagnose the problem which I pay for. I was told that parts have to be ordered; this was on June 9th. I had to call back several times to ask for the cost of the parts and to schedule another appointment. In the meantime my dishwasher is leaking all over the floor to the point where I had to put a pan underneath which had to be emptied every hour or there would be a pool of water everywhere. The leak has damaged my kitchen floor and increased my water bill. A month later, July 10th, when the parts arrive, the technician returns to fix the initial problem and says that they are not responsible for the leak although I have never had to clean up water every hour before his initial diagnosis. Businesses in this city do a poor job of providing customer service. I have only lived here for a few years but noticed that this was an issue right away. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!!!

This was the quickest and most painless thing ever. I tried very unsuccessfully to use a self install kit for my new gas dryer. Although i'm not a total dunce when it comes to tools and following directions, I was able to get the dryer to work- but it was clear that some gas was leaking. I called AJ and they sent someone on a Saturday morning- fit my schedule and was very convenient. Fast, and cost me the lowest price they had quoted. Very pleased!

The was one of the most professional repairman I ever dealt with since he was punctual, fair and knew exactly what had to be done. It was a wonderful experience and have told friends and family about this experience

Basically it seemed to work, but then it broke again. We called them again and a new person came. He looked at it and said that the repair that was done was terrible! They used the wrong wiring, they didn't secure it and so he completely fixed it. But it was interesting, because it was the same company, but just a different technician. He was wonderful, but the first guy was not so good. He explained everything that he did and told us all the stages as he was going. He came on time. He called beforehand. It was great. I thought the price was good. The second guy was very professional; the first guy not as much. I would use them again, I would just ask for the repairman.

They were pretty awesome and good. We pick it out and they delivered it. They came out and measured the space and everything for the washer. They were really good about trying not to damage our walls when they bought the washer in. They have a very fast delivery because the turn around was less than a week or maybe 4 days or something. They have a pretty good price. All around, we felt that it was like a really good company and we will go back and buy something again. They are great.

We had a gas leak and the gas company detached the leaking hose from our stove. They told me to call the plumber, who came the next day and attached new hose but broke the pilot tube. He left a note to call AJ Appliance. They came out promptly and diagnosed the problem. They had to order the part and it took a week, but they were very nice and cleaned out under the stove which was awful, and even looked at out ice maker which is also not working. A very nice experience and I will use them in the future!

Great to do business with. We live in an older rowhouse and the kitchen is in the basement. Getting appliances in and out has always been a major challenge. Prior appliance vendors we have dealt with were very disappointing when it came to the delivery/installation/removal phase. Not so with these guys. Our 17 dishwasher gave it up. After looking online at the major big-box vendors I decided to try AJ Appliance. I had purchased appliance parts from them in the past and found them to be very helpful. Wound up purchasing a 500 series Bosch that was priced competitively. Delivery and installation were exactly at the date and time promises and was absolutely painless.

They arrived on time, were courteous and helpful. Did the job well. The gentleman who fixed the dryer even showed me that the vent did not need cleaning.

My issue is they could have told me to check the lint in the pipe and the spin speed over the phone. That phone consult would have been worth 50 bucks and I could have done the work (a 5 minute job) on my own.

It all went perfectly well. I so prefer dealing with a family owned business. And I will be back to them shortly, as my kitchen will be renovated soon. Highly recommended.

They were right up front with the costs. The tech arrived within the specified time frame, was very friendly and seemed to be extremely competent.

AJ's new what the problem was just from my description over the phone. He came prepared with a new electrical board and fixed the fridge in less then 15 minutes. On top of that he fixed the broken handle on my freezer in just moments. Very nice and professional.

It was a small job so I was worried they would never get to it but they did. Ordered the right small part the first time, came over and installed it. Very good.

They were on time and even gave me a call 45 minutes ahead of time as I requested. They knew exactly what the problem was and fixed it. They were polite, professional, and efficient. I will definitely use them again.

The service man took off the agitator in my machine, said I needed a new washing machine. Stated the transmission was leaking oil and would cost too much money to fix. It took approximately 5 minutes to reveal this information and he wrote me a bill for $ 91.80. When I first called this company I specifically asked if they gave only an estimate of repairs and was told "YES." I was never advised of this ridiculous service charge. In my initial call I requested the cost and was quoted a small figure NOTHING OF THIS MAGNITUDE. He did explain that this amount would be deducted from a NEW WASHING MACHINE if I purchase it from their appliance store! He also told me of the best machines to buy. I feel this charge was completely overpriced for what he did.

I initially contacted AJ around 7/25 or 7/26 and they were able to schedule a technician to come out within a week (7/31/13). The technician arrived on time, was very efficient, neat, informative...he was great. He told me they would need to order a part and it would be about a week. I got a call a week later from the office to say the part needed to be ordered and they would call when it was in and it should be about a week (I don't know why it took a whole week for them to call and confirm that a part would indeed need to be ordered - and hadn't been ordered yet, it seemed very inefficient to me). I din't hear back from them for a while so I called on 8/26/13 and was told by the office that the part hadn't arrived yet and she would have someone from the parts department call me that day. No one called that day or the next, I called back on 8/28/13 and they said the part had just arrived and scheduled the repair visit for that Friday. The same technician arrived and he was great again. So the initial visit was on 7/31/13 my dryer was repaired on 8/28/13, almost a month exactly. Overall the technician was great, their prices are reasonable but their communication and timeliness leave something to be desired, I would probably use them again in the future, but I would be more on top of calling and getting dates locked down.

My Gaggenau double oven is not heating up properly. I called Gaggenau, but they don't have their own technician in main line, and gave me a list of authorized service providers. I chose AJ appliance from the list because of their high rating on Angie's list. The appointment process was difficult. It took 4 appointments and 3 weeks for the tech to finally show up. They cancelled twice because "one tech unexpectedly could not work today". Another time I requested an appointment before noon because I'm out of town that afternoon. Although the appointment was made one week before, they were not able to make the time frame, and we had to reschedule. Each time, the cancellation or reschedule occurred on the day of the appointment, while I was already waiting at home. The technician checked my oven today. He obviously was not familiar with the controls of my oven, and was fumbling with the buttons and the control board. I actually had to show him how to set the temperature in order to test the unit out. In addition, during the process, he made a few remarks that showed lack of knowledge about the unit. For example, at some point, he commented that the oven was not in the convection mode, while it actually was and he recognized it after I pointed out. Then he asked to see the owner's manual, which sank my heart even further. Long story short, he spent two hours changing the oven temperature and stared at it. Eventually he told me, yes, there was a problem with the oven, and the control board needs to be changed. This control board thing sounded totally just a guess to me. Needless to say, I had no confidence in this diagnosis whatsoever. I called Gaggenau immediately after he left. I learned that apparently as Gaggenau's authorized service provider, they have access to a Gaggenau technician, and are supposed to call when they encounter problems on the field that they cannot fix. (BTW apparently Gaggenau does not provide any training to their certified service provider, nor verify their technical knowledge to service their units.) Then I called AJ appliance, reported the issue I had with the technician, and asked them if they could send out another qualified technician to deal with my oven. The girl who took the call was very rude. She did not even wait for me to explain the reason I called, before hurriedly saying "the tech is still out, there's nothing I can do now". I managed to keep her on the line, explained my problem. Then she put me on hold; a couple of minutes later she returned to say, you'll have to speak with a manager. I was supposedly transferred to the manager, but the phone just went silent. After 2 minutes of nothing on the other end, I had to hang up. I tried to call back immediately, but no one picked up the phone. Summary: What I paid: 4 mornings' wait spanning over 3 weeks; 2 hours with the tech staring at the oven; $132.5 out of pocket What I got: ...NOTHING
