Airy Kitchens

I was very impressed with Airy Kitchens. The small, nimble company offered thoughtful design solutions for a kitchen renovation in our older home. From design to implementation, the level of professionalism was apparent from our first interaction. We were assigned a project manager who was meticulous, and kept our entire kitchen renovation moving swiftly through the construction process. Communication with every team member was excellent, and our designer stayed engaged throughout the construction phase to address our concerns as they came up. Airy Kitchens is a great company with an excellent team-based approach to their work, and impeccable design sense. I'd highly recommend!

We are very pleased with our fabulous new kitchen, courtesy of Sean and the Airy Kitchens team. From design, to materials, to construction, everything went smoothly. The process was quicker than expected, and the results are stunning. We used their design conception which we had not even thought of, so they opened up all kinds of options to us. Mason's design included a high level of detail and his documents were instrumental throughout the construction process. Airy kept us in the loop via online updates and project management site. They helped us select an excellent contractor from a number of options. We used Airy Kitchens' project management team, and Kam and Nancy always listened to our concerns along the way and were great to work with. We recommend Airy Kitchens highly.

Airy Kitchens was such a delight to work with. We were looking to do a complete Kitchen renovation and add a bathroom on the first floor, so we reached out to Airy Kitchens because we felt they could do it all—design, build oversight, and Project Management. Beginning from the Design portion of the process, Sean and his team were timely and communicative. They nailed exactly what we wanted for our kitchen reno (color! functionality!) with minimal revisions. They introduced us to a contractor we trusted, who ultimately did a great job. The biggest bang for our buck was the Project Management portion of the project. Kameron and Nancy took care of every detail—ordering appliances, ensuring they arrived on time, and coordinating with all of the different tradespeople. The project was completed on schedule and the kitchen is gorgeous. What's better—the renovation process was not a headache at all. I keep dreaming up more projects to do with Airy Kitchens because I so enjoyed the process of working with them. Their pricing feels fair and we got a great value for our money by working with Airy Kitchens.

Airy Kitchens was fantastic. The design work was sophisticated but also practical, the terms were super clear, and the interface with the contractor was flawless. We were stunned--in a good way.

am stuck in a similar situation to the previous reviewer. All the older reviews definitely sound like they are for a different company! I am on month 6 of a project that was supposed to take 6-8 weeks. The project was mismanaged from day one with extremely incompetent contractors (that were supposed to be vetted by Airy Kitchens- BFDS group) and an incompetent project manager. Like the previous review, there was zero oversight from day one by the owner, Sean, or the project manager, Phil. The owner of the company takes no responsibility or ownership of anything. My concerns about the quality of the construction were dismissed or ignored, often in a condescending and dismissive way. I had to take time out of every day to take photos and email the project manager, who either ignored me or forwarded my emails to the contractor, without doing anything to manage the project. Airy kitchens also advised me it was fine to work without permits, which is illegal and caused a 6 week delay that didn’t end until I called the city myself. They took no initiative to follow up with the contractor or the city and it turns out that the contractor failed to fill out the proper forms. The owner, Sean, has been advocating against my interests and only looking out for his own relationships with contractors, and his own bottom line, at every turn. Currently he is telling me that managing and vetting the contractor was not his responsibility, but Airy kitchens charges a 22% management fee. I am a bit confused about what that is for if they refuse to manage the contractors or take any responsibility for them. The contractors they “vetted” also damaged my original wood floor and lied and told me it was already damaged, they ruined my original wood trim in several areas, and damaged my front steps. Oh they also somehow broke my toilet seat which was on a different floor than the construction. Worst of all one of their workers got into a fight outside of my house and my neighbor had to intervene. I said I did not want the guy who got into the fight to come back into my house (for safety and liability reasons) and they brought him back when I was out of town which I saw on my surveillance camera. Finally after months of delays all caused by mismanagement, the cabinets were finally installed but the work was so bad it was not tenable to even continue with BFDS. They damaged 5 of the cabinets installing them and clearly had no idea how to install cabinets. (See photos.) They were so uneven that a countertop could not be templated. So Airy kitchens said they would find me a new contractor. However, it has now been over a month since then and so far only two contractors has been brought in and one passed on the project because it “wouldn’t be profitable enough for him” and the other quoted me 20K but then said he would not be able to do it. They refused to cover any of the additional costs or take any responsibility whatsoever for the situation, and for this reason I terminated my relationship with Airy Kitchens with the project halfway finished. I am sure the owner will write a reply to this similar to the reply he wrote to the previous review saying anything I can do to make this right, we are known for taking ownership, etc…. but I know that based on his emails to me, and conversations with others who have used Airy Kitchens recently, that in fact the opposite is true. He takes zero ownership, every issue was always someone else’s fault and he offers zero solutions. Also I have had a few contractors come in who were not affiliated with the company and and they pointed out many things in both the design and the construction that are not up to code and must be redone (see photos) I am posting a few pictures but feel free to reach out to me if you would like more details, I am happy to provide more info to keep anyone from having the type of nightmarish experience that the previous reviewer and I have both had. I run a business out of my home, so it has also has affected the profitability of my business in addition to the basic costs and inconvenience of not having a kitchen for 6 months.

It’s like these reviews are talking about a different company! We hired Sean Lewis and the Airy Kitchens team to design and manage an extensive kitchen update and total primary bathroom renovation. $136,000 overall project, just for reference. I’m not a novice to design or renovations having completed several other major projects in other homes with different designers/contractors. Unfortunately we knew from day 1, literally, it was a mistake to work with Airy Kitchens. Sean and team provided no strategic oversight and took no responsibility at any stage of the project. There were many, many mistakes (for example, the kitchen cabinets were painted at a cost of $5000 to match the new island and bench and they don’t match, at all. Sean’s team didn’t check the paint color before, during, or after painting. We pointed out the issue with the paint color as soon as we walked in the room (we’d moved out for several weeks due to the chaos) and Sean’s response was yeah they’re not the same, but I don’t think most people will notice! There was poor project management. There were not enough tiles/supplies, and/or wrong supplies ordered. All of these issues and so, so many more resulted in delays such that our 5 week project is still ongoing after 13 weeks. These were not pandemic-related supply chain delays, basically all the supplies that Airy Kitchens ordered were in our basement when the project started. Additionally, the designs themselves seem to be beautiful on paper but not in reality (for example, I don’t know what we will do with our master bath towels, the half wall where the towel bar was designed to go doesn’t actually fit a towel bar and it’s too low for a hook and there’s no other wall space). After 13 weeks of mismanagement, mistakes and delays, I’m ashamed to admit I lost my cool on Phil our project manager. We decided two days later it was in our best interest to let Airy Kitchens and the contractor they recommended go. We plan to finish the project hiring our own professionals and ordering our own remaining supplies. I have rarely ever written any kind of review and certainly never one like this. Just trying to save others from this very expensive and extremely difficult experience.

Airy Kitchens lives up to their motto in so many ways. Even while doing the dishes, our new kitchen makes me so happy! Sean’s innovative and intuitive design yielded a kitchen that really feels like our family. Martin’s diplomatic project management and impeccable communication made the process efficient and fun. They worked with us to maintain the character of our old home and make it a warm place where friends and family can comfortably gather.

We did an extensive kitchen renovation: knocking down walls, reimagining the layout, fixing underlying insulation and plumbing issues - while replacing almost everything. Airy Kitchens was a tremendous help in designing and managing the project from start to finish. Sean worked with us through several design iterations as well as the details of materials and fixtures. We had great options for contractors and Martin’s project management kept everything on track. As issues and questions arose, the team maintained open and clear communication to collaborate around challenges. I would recommend Airy Kitchens for similar (or other projects). They were great to work with, and we love the results!

It went very well, he redid our entire kitchen start to finish and did a phenomenal job. We truly have our dream kitchen and more bc Sean was able to take our vision to the next level. He was detailed, responsive and also handled all of the headaches (which weren't many) that came our way. Super nice and easy to work with but also very good at his job. We had a vision and he took it to the next level with his special touch and execution. Highly recommend!

We are thrilled with our kitchen and powder room and we recommend Sean, Martin and the Airy Kitchen team very highly. We wanted rooms that are creative -- not cookie cutter -- as well as highly functional and of very high quality. We also wanted a kitchen that, as much as possible, looks less like a kitchen and more like a regular room. Sean came through beautifully, and now I wish the living room looked more like the kitchen! Sean created a kitchen and powder room that integrate beautifully and seamlessly into our open floor plan. The design details, both large and small, are exquisite. Sean and project manager Martin were professional and easy to work with throughout the process. Top rate.

We hired Airy Kitchens to design and manage our kitchen remodel. Sean Lewis presented unique and interesting ideas resulting in a spectacular end result. We would have never had the nerve to choose and follow through on some of the items he selected but we had complete faith in his style and design sense and the results speak for themselves. I would highly recommend Airy Kitchens for design and project management. Sean is very professional, reliable, daring and always has the filter of the customer first. We highly recommend Airy Kitchens and would utilize them for future projects.

The designer at Airy Kitchens had great ideas about how to get the most out of my small space. He came to my home with a beautiful catalogue that helped me decide on materials and cabinets. Within 2 weeks he presented my design with 3D renderings and a detailed budget. I decided to have them manage the installation also and the project went smoothly. The contractors they used were great. I highly recommend Airy Kitchens.
