Kevin responded promptly to my request for an estimate and scheduled an appointment within three days. He arrived promptly and was very professional. Emailed me an estimate, along with design sketches, within 48 hours. His prices are very competitive. I had gotten two other estimates. Once I decided to use him, he sent along a contract, which included the time frame for the project. He also sets up a website for the project so that you can see how things are progressing. Project was completed on time and is beautiful. Took two days for installation, as promised. Cleaned up thoroughly each day. I would definitely recommend him and would use him again.

Kevin (the owner) was extremely professional, came out to my house and arrived on-time. He was, by far, the one company I wish I could have used. He gave me a very thorough understanding of the whole process from start to finish. The thing I liked the best was how often during the process you can see your project come to life through the technology that his company uses. His ability to capture exactly what I was looking for was flawless. He paid attention to every detail and it was clear that he cares about his work. I also liked that he drove about an hour to get to my home from his shop. He showed me many examples of his work on his iPad - pictures he did not have on his website which really painted a picture of the quality of work that he provides. I was extremely impressed and would recommend him to anyone!

My wife and I live in a row home in the Fairmount area. Our living room does not have a closet, so we were using a wardrobe cabinet for that purpose, but it ate up valuable space in the room. A previous owner had installed a rather tacky faux fireplace, but we liked having the surface (mantelpiece) to place things on. The solution we came up with was to remove the fireplace and install a half height cabinet (effectively maintaining the mantelpiece surface) to hang our coats in. This was a tough job because it touched on several areas of expertise (plaster work, ducting and flooring) beyond the cabinet making and carpentry, but as the non-cabinet making jobs were small, it would have been difficult to find people willing to take them on. Seeing my problem, A-K Custom Interiors agreed to handle the whole thing. The bottom line? They did a fantastic job on all aspects of this installation. Although it isn't something they tout, the matching job they did on the floor was phenomenal! BUT, the star of the show is the cabinet; it is just beautiful and they spot-on matched the era and aesthetic of our 100 year old home. These are very knowledgeable folks not only about woodworking, but also the history of old architecture and materials. Beyond all of that, Kevin and Tyler are very nice people. They are honest and do exactly what they say they will do - a rarity these days. It was a real pleasure working with these folks. We have another job planned for them already.

Kevin is the owner and he does most of the work for this Philadelphia company. We used him because of the positive ratings on Angie's list. He came to the house and promised an estimate and drawing soon and delivered as promised. He gave us ideas and helped us stay on budget. The quality of the workmanship was excellent, and our wall to wall library bookcase looks like it has always been in our house, thanks in part to Kevin for having the idea of requesting a sample of the crown molding our builder used in the room in order to duplicate it. There were a few delays but overall the project was done quickly and we are very happy with it.

Kevin came and looked at the job and had the piece ready the next week. He was willing to do a small job like that. He also gave my husband advice on another project and returned with some pieces of wood for him. Excellent work.

The job went very well. Kevin was prompt, friendly, and true to his word. He was easy to reach and the shelves are great.

After I decided that I was ready to install molding in my apartment, I couldn't find a satisfactory listing for a finish carpenter on Angie's List. A Google search for finish carpenters in Philadelphia led me to A-K's website and a blog - containing photos and a glowing review- documenting a renovation that Kevin had done for the author. I called Kevin for an estimate, which he promptly scheduled. He carefully considered the design of the molding and mantel and tried to come up with a solution that fit my needs and was true to the architecture of my building. Despite encountering unexpected installation complications caused by an old, settling building, all the elements of the project turned out absolutely beautifully. Kevin updated me on the status of the project every day while he was working, which I appreciated, and finished when he said he would.

Kevin, the owner, seemed professional and committed. He was the only carpenter we called who actually showed up when he said he would, and he provided a detailed estimate, workplan, and contract. On the day of the job, Kevin showed up on time and completed two of the three projects we had contracted for (new closet door, crown molding), but not the third (new basement door). We were having floors installed in a few weeks and he recommended that we wait until then to install the door. Once the floors were installed, we set up a time for him to return and finish the job, as well as re-caulk the crown molding which had significant gaps due to settling (Kevin said that would happen and that he would come back out to re-caulk). On the scheduled day, Kevin didn't show up. He left a voice mail that his truck had broken down and was in the shop. He asked us to call him to reschedule. That was December 18th. Despite our repeated phone calls (no answer, just voice mail) and e-mails, we haven't heard back from Kevin. In my last e-mail, I asked him to let us know if he didn't want to finish the job so we could move forward with a new contractor. I also informed him that the caulk on the crown molding had shrunk severely, and the bi-fold closet doors were uneven and in need of adjustment. After getting no response, we did the caulking and adjustment on our own. At this point, we are just grateful that we only paid him for the work actually completed, given the way he has disappeared.

We received several estimates before deciding to use Kevin. At our initial meeting Kevin spent a good deal of time talking to us about our project and gave us a lot of help choosing molding styles and sizes that were right for our home. The job took 4 days and he was very professional and kept us informed and updated the entire time. Kevin was very courteous, cleaned up every day and left our house spotless. The quality of work was flawless and we were extremely happy with the finished product. Kevin is very knowledgeable, talented and an all around great guy. We are already planing on having Kevin install some built-in's for us next.
