 + -1 moreThis was not an emergency call, but the company was able to get a plumber out in only a couple of hours. The plumber was on time and professional. He was able to quickly assess and fix the problem. He left everything clean and tidy. Once he fixed the leak, another leak popped up. The plumber came out on two separate visits to fix the new leak and check to make sure everything stayed sealed up. He did that free of charge and with a great attitude. I appreciate the pride he took in his work and the steps he took to make sure everything worked well.

 + 0 moreNo one else was available on such short notice with the holiday, but these gents worked us in, took care of the job in a very professional manner, cleaned up nicely, and headed out to another emergency job. We were very pleased to have hot water over the holidays; great job on a very short notice at a time when they would like to be with family themselves.

Description of Work: I used Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services to dig out the backyard where the pipe comes from the inside of the house to the outside of the house because there were two different types of pipe and make them connect and put a new PVC pipe against the cast stone piping.

 + -1 moreWe had used him for years when we had drain problems. Larry and Co. bought the name. So, we called them and got Larry and Co. So they overcharged us. He was trying to sell me this huge package of stuff. I told him I don't like being sold. They're outrageously expensive, especially since their truck since clean drain for $99. They did clean the drain, but they told me they had to do all this extra work. The quality was okay once they did it. They were responsive.

 + 0 moreThey came about a month earlier to do a sewer line cleaning. It appeared to be done well. A month later, during the famous September rainy season here in York, PA, the basement was starting to flood again but it was easier to pinpoint the source. I called them and they responded right away. Turns out the first tech did not do a complete job so the second tech did a thorough job and I have not had a problem since. Fortunately it was still under a 90 day service warranty so I am satisfied with the performance. I was more impressed with the second tech.

 + -1 moreI called this company TWICE.... once last week... the woman taking the call called me to remind me that they would be coming out. I was concerned because the man might have to go up to the roof and we were having bad weather later that day. She said what? It was like she hadn't even heard the entire problem as I explained it to her the week before when I made the appointment! So, as a result, no one came out that day. So, at 8:30 this morning, I took time off of work, and I thought, I better call them. Same woman answered, and totally blanked out. She had no recall. Nothing on the schedule. As then as I explained the problem to her, she seemed to remember.... she got all flustered and finally said, I don't want you to think I don't know what I'm doing! Well, that was one appointment ago. So here we have it, two missed appointments. I called back 10 minutes later after calling another company, and a man answered. I told him I was cancelling, and he just said ok. No question about why, or anything. I guess Rotorooter doesn't need my business. Very unprofessional. Too bad they didn't care about my problem.

 + 0 moreThe work was done on a Sunday with the outside temperature at 90 degrees. It took 5 hours to get the tree roots out of the line. they returned two days later to complete the work.
Description of Work: opened the sewer line from my house to the main line in the street. dug down and found the clean out port that had been buried by a previous owner. After opening the line (Which took 5 hours) by removing tree roots that had invaded the line, he returned later to power flush and examined the line to determine if any additional repair was needed. He then raised both the vent and clean-out port so that they are no longer buried.

 + 0 moreMy basement drain clogged when doing laundry. I was very happy with the technician, Mr. Brian Green, who quickly assessed the situation and got to work. He informed of everything he was going to do and also recommended the enzyme product. There was an additional clog on another branch line to my surprise and he was very courteous and patient with me when I queried him as I am trying to understand the workings of the house. I gave a "B" rating for the price as the rates are a little higher than the competition and the price of the enzyme product but this does reflect on the service I received. He worked very hard and efficiently. He used cover cloths and was neat and clean. He ran the wash machine to make sure the line was clear. I would not hesitate to recommend his service and Roto Rooter to my friends and neighbors even with the higher rate in the price. I feel I got my money's worth.

Description of Work: I called Roto-Rooter last night (2/23/09), based on their high grade on Angie's List. The call center said a plumber would call me back right away to schedule service; and he did - he said he's be there tomorrow but could not give me a time frame. I understood why. However, the following day (2/24/09) I called during lunch break to check on our status and if they could ascertain whether we were in the next hour, two hours ahead - or what. Cld the plumber's cell, but he said that I have to call the call center to see where we are in the line-up, etc. So, I did. The lady who answered "Tina" said: "What's your name again? When did you call? Hmmmmm...." Well, that's NEVER a good sign. So, she input my information into the system ALL over again and said she'll have someone there by 5. I just think that kind of incident speaks poorly of a company when you're call record isn't even in their system. I honestly didn't feel confident they'd HAVE someone there by 5. What if I didn't call to check on our status? Plumbing issues aren't something that can wait. We ended up calling another service that stated they'd be there even sooner than Roto-Rooter's promise.

 + -1 moreI called early in the morning. Was scheduled for a 3:00 PM visit. Was supposed to get a call when service man was on way. Did not receive a call by 3:10 PM. Checked with office. Told he was running late. No call by 5:00PM. Called again. Running late. Should be there by 6:00 PM. More calls. Service man finally showed up at 8:30 PM. Spent an hour and a half running a power snake through the drain. Finally cleared it. However, the S trap leaked. He did not have the parts to repair. The next day I had to go to a home center and purchase a replacement S trap which I installed myself.
Description of Work: Power cleaned drain from disposer to main soil pipe.

 + 0 moreI contacted Roto Rooter on a Sunday morning and within 30-45 minutes, the technician was at our door. He determined that we had a sewer line partial blockage and went about figuring out how he would need to tackle the problem. He determined that he wouldn't need to dig through the yard, but that he could bring the machine into the basement and clean things out. He found that we had roots that were clogging the pipe(which the machine was able to get through)and when asked, he offered to put root killer in the pipe and flush it through. He was friendly and did not mind answering questions. I would definitely recommend they and will use them again if needed!
Description of Work: Unclogged sewer line. Brought a machine into the basement that went into the drain and cleared the pipe of roots.

 + 0 moreThe local municipality notified us that they had sent a video camera down the sewer main and "televised" the lateral serving our property, and there were roots penetrating into the interior of our pipe. They gave us 60 days to contact a plumber to remove the roots. On 10/09/08, we called Roto-Rooter after consulting Angie's List. They came out the same day. They promised between 2:00 and 3:00 PM and the man showed up at 1:55 PM. He gave an estimate, we said ok and he started immediately. It was done about 4:30. The root cutting was $259 and he sold us a package of pellets to put down there periodically to keep the roots from coming back for $31.75. He was very professional and courteous. He did not leave a mess. (Service Technician #52)

 + 0 moreHe explained that the pipe was clogged about 5 ft. from the toilet and that the rest of the pipe was healthy (the plumber had been discussing digging the whole thing up!) and let us know that there was no tree roots growing into the drain. He cleaned up well and is a very nice guy who really wants to help people. He sold us a drain cleaner to use one time per month (easy to use) and for the last year we have had no drain problems. I strongly endorse this service especially to people with older homes.
Description of Work: We had recurring drain clogs on and off for months. We had spent about $400.00 on the plumber to no available. After receiving an estimate of $500.00 for the plumber to LOOK with a camera into our drain problem (household exit drain (50 years old)travels under the house, under a 100 foot tree to the sewer about 50-70 feet away) we called roto-rooter. Charles pulled the toilet and drilled through to the sewer/drainpipe intersection.
