Set up a time to meet. He arrived on-time. I told him our vision and he was full of ideas. He was excited about project and which plants would create a good amount of privacy without a lot of maintenance since that was a concern for us. Also had ideas about complementing colors of various plants. Once we decided that we were going to go ahead with the project, we set up a day to meet at the nursery. With help from the nursery, his ideas, and our ideas, we left excited about the project. He was able to come back the following week and start on the project. It only took 2 days and the outcome met our expectations. Of course we have to wait for the plants to grow in order to capture the full effect but it looks really good. He and another gentlemen worked very well together throughout the process and they cleaned the entire work area when finished. He is also coming back to put in a row of Norway Spruces for more privacy and create a wind barrier. I don't think I would ever give someone an A on price because when you want to do any kind of upgrades to your home, it's always going to cost you. Nothing is cheap unless you want cheap quality. I would and have recommended them to others.

This must be my fifth review of Brandt's landscaping in the past several years, and I continue to be a fan of the Brandt's team. Nearly all of the landscaping in my yard has been done by Brandt's and I couldn't be happier. Last summer he built a huge (maybe 70 foot) large new bed along my front property so that I could put in the perennial garden of my dreams (designed by Garden House Call's George Weigel...love it!). This year's work was a little less ambitious. I wanted to gain some privacy from my neighbors when I sit on my raised back deck. Dave recommended a fast-growing Leyland Cypress for screening, and planted that today along with a new white crape myrtle that will look great against the backdrop of my neighbor's tall red maple. He extended one bed for a cutting garden, and trimmed and moved a butterfly bush to balance the new cypress and crape myrtle. When I pointed out how rainwater was washing away mulch in two beds, he devised a solution (river rocks) and brought the stone the next day and laid it down. Today's huge rainstorm was a big test and I'm pleased to say his solution worked perfectly. He also trimmed back a big clump river birch so that it wouldn't rub against the house, and extended the rings around three maples in the side yard. Dave keeps an eye on everything in the yard and makes suggestions so that I don't get caught with bagworms in my trees, inadequate mulch in the garden beds, or rainwater problems. He continually checks his work from years past, and makes sure everything is up to snuff. My neighbors liked his underground piping system (diverts rainwater from gutters to the swale at the back of the yard) and had him do the same for them on this visit. In all of this, Dave and his crew (Bruce and Lance) keep me laughing and put up with my questions and ideas. I won't let anyone else do the work but Brandt's. Thanks, Dave, for another great project. See you in the spring for more adventures in the gardens.

I met with Dave in July and discussed the projects that I had in mind for my property. Dave was very attentive as we walked the area and added suggestions and options along the way. I felt he had a grasp on my ideas from the start. He took measurements and said he would get back to me with an estimate. Within a week I had an estimate emailed to me. I emailed Dave back with a few changes I wanted to make and he replied promptly to my requested changes with an updated estimate. I then emailed Dave that I would like to schedule the work. We arranged to meet at the nursery so I could choose the proper materials. After selecting the materials Dave said he would schedule me in and it would probably be 2-3 weeks. He actually, to my pleasure, showed up approx. a week and a half later and started the job. He and his men finished the job within days. After completion I noticed 2 changes I wanted to have done. I emailed Dave about it and by the time I returned home the following day from work, they had been to my home and had made the requested changes/additions. Dave and his men were very professional and helpful from start to finish. My neighbor commented to me on what nice young men I had working on my yard. The work looks fantastic! I have had many compliments. I would definitely hire Brandt's Landscaping back again.

Another outstanding job by Brandt's. There's nothing quite like coming home from work to see all of the spring yard work completed!

Everything was terrific, once again (I'm the first reviewer down below). Dave had, a few years ago, sent the downspout water underground and away from my house. This time he took the same line and moved it through a big tree bed, and now has the water exiting even further away from the house. (Before there was so much water coming out of the pop-up emitter that he'd installed that it was washing out the mulch from the tree bed.) You can't even see where the cuts that had to be made in the grass! Best of all, he did the work before we had a month of rain, and I wouldn't have done the project if he hadn't suggested it. Then, as we talked about my plan for new garden beds, he came up with the idea of adding some boulders. He sent me rock shopping nearby at Nolt's Nursery (love them too!), and then he picked up the rocks and put them in place. My beloved japanese maple, the centerpiece of the front bed and installed by Dave 3 years ago) CROAKED in the middle of this work. Both he and I were bummed by this, since he'd just been inspecting its buds just a few days earlier while mulching it. He dug it up, looked for a cause (none to be found), found another one just as nice, planted it, and didn't charge me for the new tree. We laughingly disagreed about the combination of some shrubs, and he willingly moved them to different beds even though I know he still thinks his arrangement had better color contrast (and he's right, I admit it). And finally, the new paver landing at the bottom of my deck steps and a little retaining wall there, which are perfect. During the whole process Dave kept in touch with me, made great plant suggestions, and anxiously waited for my response at the end of each work day. He's just a joy to work with, and his crew is very neat and tidy. And once again, he's so good about trying to keep costs down. I'd asked him to put in some sod in bare spots by the driveway where last summer's sun had burned the grass to a crisp. Instead of sodding, he took the grass from where he was cutting my new garden beds and used that instead. When I marveled at the 'perfect match' he fessed up and we laughed ourselves silly. Again, I give my highest recommendation to Dave and the entire Brandt's Landscaping team.

Much of the landscaping at my home had been neglected for a number of years, and local friends recommended Brandt's to me. I sent Brandt's an email and got an email response the following day indicating that Dave would contact me as soon as possible. The day after that, I got a call from Dave. We had a 15-minute discussion about the projects I was interested in having completed, during which I felt that Dave was really listening to me and was not in a hurry to rush me through our conversation. Dave then came to my home later the same day and spent at least an hour with me walking around my yard and discussing both my immediate concerns and my ideas for long-term landscaping/hardscaping projects. Although Dave does a lot of "low maintenance" residential landscaping, I am an avid flower and vegetable gardener and I had very specific ideas about some of the landscaping, including enlarging several flower beds and creating a bed entirely for vegetables. I found Dave to be friendly, extremely helpful, and very knowledgeable about plants. He looked at all the plants and shrubs in my beds and told me which were worth keeping and which he recommended removing. He replaced a tree that was not very nice with a lovely redbud and replaced some bland shrubs with others that would provide flowers and foliage interest. All of my beds were edged and many were enlarged. The existing shrubbery was pruned. Dave and his team dug my vegetable garden and added compost. They also cleaned up an eyesore area in the treeline at the back of my property and filled it in with some of the shrubs that were removed from other areas. They moved shrubs that were causing mowing obstacles in my yard. I agree with the previous reviewer that Dave is good about using whatever you have in terms of trees/shrubs rather than buying all new plants when possible. He was also understanding of my budget and the fact that some projects would have to wait until fall or next year. His team tackled all the tasks at my house and finished everything in basically one day. During that day, Dave called me when he had a question about how to proceed, so that everything would be done with my approval. Dave and his team came back two days later to finish the mulching. Dave told me that the mulching would likely push me over the original estimate he provided, and he confirmed with me prior to doing the work that I wanted to proceed. I appreciated this courtesy as it saved me from being surprised by the final bill. Another thing I appreciated was that Dave called me the day after the majority of the work was completed to see if I was pleased with the results. I only had one concern, which was that 3 of my perennial plants were accidentally "lost" during the expansion of one of my beds. Dave was apologetic and credited me for the replacement cost, which is exactly what a professional should do. I am 100% satisfied with this company and would not hesitate to recommend Dave and his team to anyone. I look forward to using Brandt's Landscaping again for my future projects.

I heard about Dave from friends who have high standards, and they recommended him highly. He is professional, fun to work with, respectful of my budget, on time, and dedicated to the customer being satisfied. I love working with him, and now use him in the winter for snow plowing. Every early spring we sit down and plan the year's project(s) and I trust his advice. He doesn't 'over plant' a garden (as others do, knowing that five years down the road you'll need their services again to pull out plants that have outgrown the space). His hardscape work is amazing. He has helped me 'phase' projects, and is understanding that I can't usually do everything I want in one year's time, so he helps me budget my dollars to achieve the look I want. He even scopes out the plants/shrubs I already have, and uses them whenever he can. While he's not cheap, he's not the most expensive landscaper around either. You definitely get what you pay for in landscaping, and I think that my investment in his work is paying off in increased home value. He's sensible, and I mean that in the truest sense of the word. He even drives by every so often just to check on things, and did some free pruning this year when I didn't keep up with that. I have recommended him to friends who have also been very satisfied with his work. I think he's terrific, and recommend him to anyone.
