Ken is a pleasure to work with. He is honest and clear on what needs to be done. When he discovered that the project was going to need more prep work, he explained and talked it over to make sure I understood what was going on, and gave me the option of not proceeding. It gave me a lot of confidence in Odell Painting and I learned things about my house too! (1960 mid-century with quirks). What I also like about Ken is that he will tell you what needs to be done - and what doesn't. With some contractors I feel they are just looking to expand the project and make more money. Ken will tell us we can wait to do so-and-so. He - and his employees - are also very nice people. We'll be using Odell Painting again this spring.

Not only did Ken Odell and his crew do careful prep work, they uncovered several hidden issues along the way that would have become real problems down the road if left alone. We'd had other painters work on the balcony, and they missed these issues. Ken also laid out several options for tackling the job, working with us to make sure we could get everything done within a reasonable budget. In the end, the balcony looks great and has borne the weather well. His crew was a pleasure to work with and there were no surprises along the way. We've already booked him to paint the house this coming spring. If you're looking for an expert painter, you won't do better than Ken and his crew.

We signed a contract with Odell Painting to have them paint the entire interior of our house, (ceilings, walls and trim).  We left them the keys to our house so they could prep and paint while we were away on vacation for 8 days.  When we returned, we discovered that they had not painted any of the 4 upstairs room with the scrubbable paint that they had suggested that they use and that had been specced in the contract. They finally agreed to repaint the master bedroom and bath and one additional room with the scrubbable paint, but refused to paint the other two rooms with the scrubbable paint.  They did however, agree to paint the remaining rooms with the proper paint.  When it was time to paint the living room, they started painting the wall with the wrong color!  A few days later, they started repainting the living room and again, started painting with the wrong color!!  The third time's the charm, finally the correct color on the walls!  Unfortunately, with fresh paint on the wall, the poor prep work became apparent.  We had numerous other quality issues.  Trim that was supposed to be sanded, primed and painted with two coats of paint was so thin that the original color showed through.  Doors that were supposed to be primed and painted with two coats of paint had spots that had been totally missed.  What are the odds that you could miss the exact same spot three times?!  The paint on the edge of one of the doors started to peel off after a few days.  These are just the highlights, thin paint on some walls, totally missed spots on some walls, just an overall unprofessional and sloppy job.  We had paint dripped on our wood floors, paint on kitchen cabinets and our bedroom furniture.  Very, very sloppy work. His lack of urgency in completing this job, contracted to be done on or about November 13th, forced us to delay other contractors scheduled to come in after the painting was finished.   In the end, after bringing up these issues to the owner of the company and asking him to remedy the problems, on November 20th he informed us that he was 20 hours over and stated that there was "no fat left in this job".  On November 22, he told us that we could keep his final payment and that he was not going to return to finish the job.  He picked up his equipment the next morning.  I would not, under any circumstances, recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality, professional job.
