To put the review below in context, my main issue is not with the quality of the work performed. My interactions with the roofers have been fine; the latest customer service experience (sales and billing) was lousy. The grades mostly reflect the latter. Punctuality: we made a downpayment in January; the actual work was performed in April. Yes, there was bad weather, but there was complete silence from the company and I got the impression that had I not started calling them repeatedly in March, we would have waited longer still. Professionalism: the contract reflected estimates by the customer service rep in terms of what work would be done and how long it would take. The job required additional work amounting to about $800 that was immediately added to the total. Fair enough. However, the roofers did not perform part of the work listed on the contract because they said it would "cause more harm than good"; also, they needed about half the time estimated for another part of the job. Again, fair enough. These changes amounted to about $800 in "our favor." The final bill arrived and reflected the $800 of additional work done, but not the adjustment of the $800 for the work *not* done. It took me more than a month to get a revised bill and, in the end, my credit card was billed for the additional $800 anyway. This completely shocked me. It has never happened to me that I have authorized a certain amount to be charged to my credit card and find that the company charges several hundred dollars more without so much as the courtesy of a phone call. I expect that Russell will put this right, but overall, my impression is negative. The company appears to be very responsive when it comes to adding items to a bill and charging for them, and very reluctant to adjusting the bill in the other direction.

We had damages on our flat roof following the bad weather of this winter. I contacted Russel Roofing and they were very prompt to visit us, make an offer, and propose a date for the repair. This in sharp contrast wiht the other company I contacted. They stated that they were too busy to take any work before 2 months. The team that came to perform the repair were very friendly and completed the job as specified. They were respectful, followed safety rules, in a word: professionals. I would definitely recommend Russel Roofing.

The Russell Roofing project manager, who came to my home and provided the proposal, was very professional and explained everything in detail. The work was delayed due to the very inclement weather we had last winter. This was quite understandable and not a problem. (I was told that they would cover the existing skylights with a tarp if a significant leak developed prior to the installation, but that was never needed.) The workmen who installed the skylights were on time, professional, unobtrusive, neat, and efficient.

The roofers arrived promptly, were cheerful and courteous. Did their jobs well and advised me of additional work needed.

We received estimates from 3 local roofing companies. Russ, Sandy and Dick provided a detailed description of what the job entailed. This put them head and shoulders above their competition. They were more expensive than the other companies but were the only company we felt comfortable with. They gave us an initial time frame of 4 weeks to start the job with the work lasting 3-4 days. They started the job in two weeks and were finished in 2 days. Dick continually kept me updated as to the progress of the job. The workers were very respectful of our property and did an outstanding job cleaning up especially during the tear down phase as the wind was gusting to 40mph and the old felt was blowing all over the property. There is not a single negative to Russell Roofing and will highly recommend them to friends, family and neighbors.

They have put down new wood and put the membrane up. They showed up between 8-8:30. Marc is very nice and gives you all your information in plain English (not a lot of sq. ft. and difficult lingo). Feel very comfortable talking to him, and he answered any questions. I watched them do my neighbors roof, they cleaned everything up, you couldn't even tell they had been there, I liked what they did so I got their number. I have been very pleased so far.

I was quoted a $125 for the first half hour. I had marked in the attic where the water was coming in prior to their arrival. They quickly found the problem area (a depressed nail) and fixed it - total time about 25 minutes. The techs were punctual and polite. As they left they presented me with a bill that was $30 more than had been quoted. I called the office and they amended it to the original $125. Would hire again.

On time, reasonably price. No problems.

Unfortunately the pricing was too high to consider and it was 2+ times my budget.

Very well! Everyone I met was professional, friendly and helpful. They took great care to protect surfaces and cleaned up afterwards. They also documented with pictures both before starting and after finishing. Outstanding service!

Original prodcut was defectious but Russell Roofing made it right and did it quickly. Very good service & customer service. Good price and would use them again.

Recommended by manufacturer. Very professional. Once estimate was received, scheduling and job done sooner than expected. Very nice team of installers.

Russell Roofing did the promised work on time and the cost was reasonable.

After wasting considerable time with an incompetent estimator who was subsequently fired. It moved along smoothly. One complaint: they added things to the work order without telling me the cost.

Their initial bid was their final charge. The work was completed quickly once started--was excellent work and no mess was left behind.

They came when they said they would and did what I asked them to do!

Initial visit was with 48 hours. Prompt, temporary fix was made for acute problem (gutter leak). Long-term work was scheduled for ra few weeks later, which was fine as we had no more leakage. Permanent & final repair was performed by prompt, competent, tidy & pleasant professionals.

Took awhile to schedule. Performed okay work-slates fixed. Left site very messy-slate pieces over yard, gutter debris left behind.

Russell Roofing was prompt, professional, did what they said they were going to do. Offered best price for the work!

I reached out to Russell Roofing after we received an unsolicited estimate from a competitor for a new roof. They promptly sent a representative to provide us with a free estimate. Pat, a Project Manager at Russell, was courteous and knowledgeable. He did a thorough inspection of the roof and attic, and setup a follow-up appointment for a few days later to present me with a proposal and estimate. The proposal was very detailed and Pat did a great job explaining the process and options. While their pricing was slightly higher than I was quoted by their competitor I decided to go with Russell Roofing because of their rating with Angie?s list, their professionalism and credibility, and the fact they are a GAF Master Elite Certified installer, which gives us the manufactures best warranty. The job was originally scheduled for a Monday, but weather (heavy snow) prevented them from starting (completely understandable). They came out to start the job on Thursday and completed the majority of it that day. They returned on Friday to finish up and clean up the site. We?re happy with the work they performed and are happy with how the new roof and gutters look. I can rest well knowing that we have a great warranty backing us up and that the attic is now also properly ventilated. I would highly recommend Russell Roofing because of their professionalism and desire to make sure that their customers are satisfied.

They seemed very knowledgeable and they do a lot of houses all over Philadelphia and they know a lot of different kinds of roofs. I think they got the quote on email within 10 days.

Work was performed to the agreed specifications . Satisfied customer.

We actually ended up not using them for the roof although I kind of regret that now. The gentleman who came out was very friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. They seemed very honest and helpful. We talked to them about different options as well in terms of us repairing just a portion of the roof versus just repairing the whole thing. He knew we were new to the area so gave us some recommendations about different shops and markets in the area. He seemed kind. The only reason we did not go with them was because the price was higher than we wanted to pay at that time. However, we are having lots of trouble with the other company we decided to use. They were very responsive and got here for the quote very quickly.

They originally installed the roof about 10 years ago. I had them take a look at it after my insistence. I was impressed with their work.

My wife scheduled the appointment to have someone come out. Her report was that he was prompt and pleasant. He discovered some issues that would need to be addressed at some point, but suggested that in the short term a gutter cleaning was all we would need. My wife was told that we would have to call back to schedule the cleaning. I called to schedule the cleaning. Hmm. There was no record of us in their system. No name, no address, no nothing. Ok whoopsies happen. I was then told that they only schedule appointments by taking a credit card number to keep and charge "when the job is done". Really? Red flag. I've never been asked for a deposit or card number for a labor job. I pay when the job is completed and verified I can only speculate on why they might have this policy in place, and none of those speculations make me want to do business with them..
