They left everything in perfect shape, including painting any spots that needed it.They did a great job. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Jamison's repaired a small crack in the pointing between bricks above our second floor window to the roof, and applied a VOC compliant water proofing sealer to all the bricks. They also repaired a minor foundation crack, digging down and sealing it. While they were there they did a bunch of small patching and caulking where they thought it was needed at no additional charge.

I thought they did a great job with the service they provided. I was surprise with how clean the provider was and very pleased with that. The project was very complicated and they were very well informed on the subject. I'm very satisfied with the job and I would recommend him to anyone in the future. He really gave me some very good advice.

Great! My initial appointment had to be rescheduled due to a snowstorm. Their next appointment was a full week later but when they heard I was without heat because my new heater wasn't working due to a downdraft issue in my chimney, they came out to inspect it and cleared the obstruction enough to get the heater working!! They scheduled the relining for 2 days later and came out, performed all the work quickly and efficiently. They cleaned up afterward. I really appreciated Jamie's in-depth knowledge and advice in addition to their professionalism. Price seemed pretty comparable with other rates I'd received. Overall very happy.

Don't use A step in time but use Jamison Home services instead!!!!!
Description of Work: Chose this company based on Angies List. Was told by another company we needed a new damper and new sealant for $900.00. Jamison arrived early (shocking to say the least), they had to wait for me; and within one minute had fixed my damper. It was off the track. Took pictures of the chimney and showed me other company could not have cleaned it because of all the soot remaining. Also showed me missing mortar which would have failed inspection, not mentioned. Also showed me rusted incorrect aluminum pipe at cap placed by HVAC people few yrs ago. And cracked caulk which isnt a big deal. Happy with them.

Our home is composed of "salmon" brick, which is a relatively soft brick. When we bought our home in September 2011, there was some significant brick deterioration (spalling) and missing mortar in various places on our home's exterior. Our second floor fireplace was also in pretty bad shape. Lou Feiertag and Eddie Arocho, from Jamison Masonry, performed the necessary repair work for us at our home. They did a great job. The repairs were completed skillfully. At our request, they tinted mortar so that it closely matches the existing mortar on our historic home. The replacement bricks are also a good match. Thus the repairs and new brickwork blend in nicely. The work required about 4 days to complete. Masonry work can only be performed in good weather, and Lou always called promptly to let us know if bad weather conditions necessitated a change to their work schedule. Lou and Eddie were very courteous and helpful. They told us about steps we can take to extend the life of our existing brick. We plan to call on Jamison again next spring to have a weatherproofing treatment applied to our exterior brick walls. We also appreciate that Jamison worked with us to take advantage of a University of Pennsylvania program that helps UPenn faculty and staff cover the costs of certain home repairs. Jamison promptly sent UPenn all of the necessary information (licensing, insurance, etc) and were patient about the time needed to process payment through this UPenn system. Thank you!

I called Jamison to come out and give us an estimate on exterior basement waterproofing. The estimator, David Ratamen responed quickly and came out to the house the next day. He told me he wanted to bring out some of their commercial guys to look at the situation and to get the best solution. I agreed. A week later I received the below email: Good Morning Mr. Hughes, Just wanted to touch base and let you know we haven?t forgotten about you. I?ve been working on ideas with our commercial estimators And pricing out the most reasonable solution. I should have something to you by the end of the week. Thank you for your patience, Dave Rantanen Jamison Basement Waterproofing Another week went by and I didn't receive anything from Jamison. I sent Dave another email on Nov. 28th asking about the estimate. Dave responed: I?ve actually gathered all the info I need and will be putting your estimate together. You should have it in your Hands in the next day or so. Thanks for your patience. Dave I sent another email on December 6th and received no response. Maybe the job was too small. I don't know- whatever the situation, they should have responed with an estimate. First and foremost, we offer our sincerest apologies for this oversight. We are in the business of fixing problems, not making excuses, and we hope that you'll give us the opportunity to do both. I have spoken at length with Dave Rantanen, the estimator who visited your home to survey the problem areas and take pictures. He did indeed consult with our commercial estimators, as described, but freely admits that he unintentionally dropped the ball, and allowed your proposal to slip through the cracks. He is, at the time of this writing, completing its composition so that it can be submitted to you before the end of business today. Whether or not you choose to consider or accept the estimate, however, we will also be submitting a gift certificate to you for a free chimney cleaning, courtesy of Jamison's chimney division. Additionally, Dave will personally drop off two complimentary water alarms for use in your basement, or anywhere else in your home where leaks or spills may be a concern. He will be in touch shortly by phone but, If this is not convenient for you, we'll be glad to put them in the mail instead. All of this is, of course, without any obligation to use our services, either now or in the future. Our commitment is to your satisfaction, and whether or not you become a customer, it is vital to us that we leave you with a more positive perception of our staff, company, and the business that we do.

next time I am in need of any masonary work, I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.
Description of Work: I was having water get into my house accompained by a bad odor throughout the winter. The water appeared to be getting in around the chimney, so naturally I assumed that the flashing around the chimney was in need of repair. I had two other masons come to my house and both of them told me that the top of the chimney needed to be removed and replaced. Estimates ranged from 2 - 3K. I decided to contact Jameson for an additional estimate and was introduced to a guy named Mario. When Mario arrived at my house he asked to go into the basement rather then the roof. Since the other contractors had convienced me that the top of my chimney needed to be replaced, I was a bit unsure why Mario was so focused on the inspecting the base of the chimney. What Mario discovered was much more serious. What Mario found was that the chimney was not drafting and the flue gases from my furnace were condensing on the inside of the chimney and wicking through the walls into my house. After Mario informed me that this was most likely the issue, I began to notice that my carbon monoxide meters would read low levels of C02 from time to time. Mario came back a second time to inspect the chimney from the roof and found that my neighbor shares the same chimney as I do and that they had installed a liner and sealed around that liner at the top of the chimney (preventing my side from drafting). Mario provided me with some recommmendations and ultimately I decided to replace my furnace with a high efficiency unit that vents directly outside. I no longer have any water issues and Mario even came back a 3rd time to inspect the top of the chimney and ensure that I was not getting water in through the mortar. I have never recieved such good service from a contractor in my life. Ultimately ,I felt a bit guilty that I didn't pay anything for Mario's services. But I can assure you..

Mike from Jamison gave us what I feel as the most honest appraisal of the work we needed to have done (based on 3 other contractors coming to the house to take a look). It took a little time to get a start date fixed for the project, but to be fair, we'd just had an earthquake, hurricane, and torrential rain storms. The were swamped.Jamison's crew were courteous, professional, and true craftsmen. They did a wonderful job re-pointing brick, and completely redoing the stucco on the back of our row-home. They finished the job in the estimated time, and stayed within their budget.Highly recommended

The price was reasonable, I just don't have the money right now. They were fine. It took a little over a week to get the estimate after they came out but it took them a little while to come out for the estimate. It's a little unfair because they were bogged down from the hurricane. It was slow to get a quote but they also had a lot of people to get back to. They were completely punctual. It did not go well at first, but I must commend this company for standing behind its work. The crew that they sent out at first did not do a good job. Although they were very nice, they came unprepared without they necessary materials, did not allow enough time to do the job properly and wasted some of the time they had by going to pick up supplies. Consequently, the job was done very poorly. When I complained, the supervisor came out to evaluate and agreed to do the wall over again. He sent a different crew. This crew knew what they were doing, removed the wall and started over and did it right. They did an excellent job. I think it is very commendable to stand behind the reputation of your company and admit when a job did not go well and do it over. I would use them again for this reason.

Mario, the man who came to give us the estimate and discussed with us the work to be done, kept in touch very very respectably! I called with several questions about the actual work his crew would do, and he never failed to return my call in a timely manner and discuss with me my concerns. The only issue I had was that it took about 8 weeks to get the work started when he told me it would take about 2-3 weeks. I'm not very upset, though, because the issue was not very urgent (the chimney was well-lined by the previous owners, the stucco just looked horrible). The crew who came to do the work was polite, informative, punctual, and easy to talk with. At my request, the photographed the work they'd done so that I could sort of inspect it, since I wasn't going to be climbing on my roof to look at it in-person! I also asked them a few questions about other masonry-related work that eventually needs to be done on our house, and they were very willing to educate me; I really respect that.
Description of Work: The crew removed old stucco that was in very bad shape a few years after the previous owner of our house had relined the leaking chimney. The chimney was then re-wrapped and re-stuccoed. The crew also removed an old, ill-done concrete patch on our second chimney, and re-patched it.

Jamison personnel were polite and friendly when I called for an estimate for a basement waterproofing/water management system. Their estimator, Mark, was prompt and professional. He was thorough and understandable in his analysis and recommendations, and provided an estimate, which was slightly less than another company who had provided an estimate. It was a very difficult decision, and ultimately I selected the competitor, mostly because that competitor had such a large number of favorable reviews on Angie's List, compared to the number Jamison had. I called Jamison to tell them that the job had been awarded to someone else. They were understanding and friendly and even thanked me for making the call to tell them they didn't get the job. I wish I could have hired both companies. Even though I have no basis to review Jamison's work, based on the absolute professionalism of the staff I encountered, I would encourage others to consider them when selecting a contractor.

I contacted this company to install a chase cover over a chimney in January of 2011 and provided a description of the situation along with contact numbers and emails for myself and, although access to the house was not required, contact numbers for the tenants. Jamison scheduled to do the installation February 15 of 2011 under their proposal # # 10-RES-654 since I had told them it was very important that this be installed before the Spring rains, later delayed to February 23 by them. Mario Galli, their service manager was the person who I spoke to and who responded. As part of that conversation I explained that this was a temporary measure and that I didn't want to do a very extensive repair due to the probability that the heater and its chimney will shortly become obsolete. On the 23rd I got an email from Mr. Galli that they couldn't do the work because after all this time they had no idea of what the chimney looked like and now that they had viewed it they needed additional materials at a higher price. I agreed to this and they rescheduled this. This was they rescheduled twice more due to them being too busy due to storms while my house underwent deterioration. In June with the job still not done I phoned and another visit was scheduled. Despite them having all my contact info, a delay of ten days went by after which I received a snotty letter explaining that they needed to instead of installing the chimney chase cover, completely install a liner for the entire chimney at a price 6 times higher - a proposal, incidentally, that they had previously supplied me and which I had previously not only rejected but informed them why that expenditure of resources was inappropriate for this temporary measure. I phoned the company very upset and was told I should speak to Mr. Jamison himself, was put to his voicemail, and left a message with no response. I later left a second message also with no response. I have since ordered the chimney cover for $200 less than Jamison quoted me a price for, and am told that installation is an easy, ten minute job.

Member: Good reports or bad, we appreciate the time that each of our clients takes to share their feelings on our service and performance. I have spoken with each of the employees involved in preparing your proposal, and would like to respond to a few of your points. First, the item described as a "chase cover" was actually a "chimney cap" (their functions are different, so we just want to be sure we clarify). The intial estimate was submitted after a ground-level inspection of the chimney in February 2011, during a period of extreme winter weather, and work was scheduled to begin at a time when we hoped conditions would have improved. Unfortunately, 2011 proved to be an exceptionally inclement winter; due to snow and ice on the metal roof we were forced to reschedule the chimney cap installation, hoping for a turn in weather conditions. Where we failed you is in allowing so much time to elapse between the last early spring inspection, and when we finally made a roof-level inspection in June. For this I am sincerely apologetic, and we are going to use this lapse as an opportunity to review and troubleshoot our winter-weather follow-up procedures. When our estimator was finally able to get on the roof to install the cap, a visual inspection showed that the chimney was in such a dangerously deteriorated state -- lacking a liner altogether, and requiring additional masonry repairs -- that we could not, either in good conscience or good professional ethics, carry out the work as proposed. Instead, we submitted to you a new proposal, updated with the repair work we recommended to make the chimney safe, sound and functional. To do any less would not only have violated our own code of conduct as masons and certified chimney professionals, but would have violated city and state requirements for chimney conditioning and maintenance. In addition, having reviewed the letter that was submitted to you by our estimator, I can find no evidence of any of the sarcasm that you reference in your response. To that end I invite both you -- and anyone else who may be curious about the content and nature of our response -- to review it in full at: http://www.jamisonhomeservices.com/customercare/10res654.pdf. Your address and personal information has been redacted. The owner of the company has no record of any voicemail messages from you, and normally makes a concerted effort to personally return all calls, especially from clients. Finally, and please let me stress the importance of this: especially where chimneys are concerned, there can be a great difference between the work you want performed, and the work that you need performed. The work we proposed is required to make the chimney and house SAFE, and we cannot and will not perform work that is not up to code, or could potentially present a hazard to life or property. In fact, in a tenant situation like this, renters are required by Norristown code to have their chimney pass a Use and Occupancy Inspection; performing the work as requested would have violated this code. You may be able to find a contractor who will install the chimney cap or a chase cover (as you desired) but we urge you -- emphatically -- to please consider the safety of your tenants before making what could be both a costly and tragic mistake.

This company was one of two who made recommendations and quotes. While the cause assessment and dollar amounts were very close, curative method recommendations made by the gentleman from Jamison appeared to be much more accurate and reliable based on the information available at the time. Neither company ended up doing work in the end. I decided to go through the season in order to be sure the determination of cause was accurate. After another major storm and further investigation, an alternative cause was determined to be at fault and a much different direction being taken to establish a cure. However, had the additional storm information supported the first finding, I would have gone with Jamison.
Description of Work: Called the company in for a consultation/recommendation and quote after minor flooding in the basement. The estimator was on time, professional and seemed knowledgeable and competent. He fully explained his assessment of the situation and his recommendation.

When the work was done I had a couple of questions on the cracking and masonry work and they came back out and went over everything so they were definitely responsive. From the initial estimate they actually did more painting in other areas I didn't expect to be done. They did a couple of stone walls and some block work. It was great block. I think they will be working on my neighbor's house in the next couple of weeks.
Description of Work: Jamison Home Services, LLC did exterior stucco repair, power washing and painting the entire exterior of the house.

This went so good that I am going to fininsh the drain to the back where I still get a little water. This will ensure that I no longer have to mop up after we get 4+ inches of rain within an hour. This would never flood the basement but since the front is so good I decided it's worth it to have a dry basement. My front has been dry these last 2 years. Many of my neighbors are still using their portable pumps. I am so lucky to be able to be free of that problem. So far I am very pleased.
Description of Work: I had a very bad water problem two summers ago. The amount of rain we had at that time was more than usual. The water table was high and I started getting water in my basement. It was just a little at first, over time it got worse as the water table got very high that year. Almost everyone in the area was having problems. It became necessary for me to use a portable pump when more than two inches came down within a 1 hour time frame to protect my heater and hot water heater. Most of the water came in the front of the building where they were located. . I could not take a trip for fear that the front of my basement would flood. I got three estimates to get this water problem fixed. I believe that all three companies were good. Each had a different approach but I liked this company best because they made the most sense for my situation and the cost was the best. I was able to custom fit to what I could afford but get enough protection to ensure that my heater and hot water heater would not be flooded. I did get a little in the back of the basement but not enough to cause a problem. It could be cleaned up with a mop. They suggested doing a French Drain starting in the front of the basement to about the middle of the basement. They installed a sump pump. They did a plastic type sheet along the walls that forced any water getting in though the wall to the floor. I have a stone basement and the gutters and downspouts can't alway handle the amount of water coming off the roof so some might come through a crack in the wall. I wanted as much protection as I could get. They took very little time to complete the work. Less than a full day and were very nice. .

They showed up on time, and gave me a good estimate. The price was little higher than what I initially expected, but it was in the same ballpark as other bids I received.
