Dan Collins Painting

Although I did not hire this company because of scheduling problems on my end, I was impressed by the professionalism and the responsiveness to any of my communications whether by phone or email.

Dan's crew was excellent they were on time each day, covered everything with drop cloths and cleaned up each day before leaving. For the square footage they covered we believe they were fast and riced reasonably. They also went above and beyond by putting in new light bulbs we purchased for our great room but could not reach on the 20' ceiling.

Job went very smoothly. Clean-up was complete and thorough, with all large items put back in place.

Dan's Team did an awesome job with our wall paper removal from two rooms and a hallway. In addition they repaired some drywall in another room and painted the lot. We enjoyed their work (and workers) soo much we asked for a last minute add on of sanding and coating the hardwood floors - they were able to accommodate our last min request. Pricing was reasonable (as the wall paper was very difficult removal) and they were happy to touch up any spots we found or had questions about. They were clean, helped clean and helped move the furniture with care. Everything we could ask for.

Dan was selected from among 4 painters that came to bid a job at a house that I recently purchased in Lower Merion and we signed a contract for him to do the work prior to us moving into the home. Prior to starting the work and within 2 weeks prior to when he was scheduled to do the work, he did not return any of our calls. This put us in the position of finding another painter to do the work on very short notice. I might be able to guess at the reasons but because he has never since returned our calls, I really do not know if it is a fee dispute (note we had already signed a contract), whether a better job came up. I just don't know. A simple phone call to resolve it would have been sufficient from me. I found his conduct highly unprofessional and would never suggest anyone hire him.

The crew was punctual and professional. They were very careful not to damage plants and not to spray into the screened-in porch. They cleaned everything up when they were finished. The house and the chimneys look great!

Dan arrived on-time for the estimate and promptly provided a quote by email the day he had promised. Once we agreed on price his team arrived at the day and time we setup - I was impressed at their punctuality given that I live in a busy city where traffic can be unpredictable. The work performed was completed in less time then they had anticipated and the workmen were friendly and respectful. I look forward to using Dan and his crew on future properties.

Never having contracted a painter before I was more then a little apprehensive about the process.I was more then pleased with the first meeting I had with Dan, and his quote for the job. We talked about a start date and how long the job would take and his crew both started and finished the project within the time frame. The workmanship and attention to detail was all that I could ask for , he used the brand paint that I specified and the wallboard repair was perfect. The two painters that did the job could not have been more pleasant to deal with and took pride in the work they performed, as well as the cleaning service after the job was completed. I would not only use this company again , I recommended them to my daughter.

We were very pleased with the professionalism and the quality of the work. The painters were very pleasant, on time, and their work was meticulous in both the painting and repairing of cracked walls and ceilings. They finished the work faster than we expected and were very careful with the detail work. My husband tends to be a perfectionist and he was very pleased.

He was on time, clean and great price. He finished when promised and cleaned up; so you never knew he was there.

Dan sent John to repair my living room ceiling and paint two walls that had been effected by the leak from my second floor bathroom. I knew John from the previous job that Dan had done for me in the autumn of 2011 and knew how capable and reliable he was. He got to work right away, taking care to cover everything with drop cloths and tarps to protect my belongings from damage. He repaired the hole in my ceiling precisely and sanded the ceiling carefully to obtain a smooth painting surface. He painted the ceiling, was not satisfied with the result (one could see a line where the repair had been done), took the necessary steps to get rid of said line, then re-painted the ceiling. Once he was satisfied with the result, he painted the two walls and completed the job. He called me in to take a look, and I couldn't believe that a hole had ever been there. John does great work! He then collected all of his materials, cleaned up the area completely, carefully removed all drop cloths and tarps so as not to drop anything on my rug or floor, and helped me move my piano back into position, leaving a small space between it and the baseboards and walls so as not to get paint on the piano. Once he left, all I had to do was hang two prints on the walls, after they had dried, sit back, and enjoy John's handiwork. I will use Dan Collins for all of my painting needs in the future. He and his workmen leave nothing to be desired and can be relied upon to do outstanding work in a courteous, considerate manner.

I emailed directly from Angies List and Dan responsded in a timely manner. After syncing our schedules, Dan himself came and reviewed the areas and provided me with a written estimate. The guys who came to paint were timely, professional and efficient. They got all of it painted in 2 days with 2 coats. The rooms look great and have good color and clean lines between the ceiling and walls (ceiling white, walls had color). There were a few small spots missed, but the guys left all the extra paint so I can touch up where needed. The guys were very friendly and asked questions when needed, instead of guessing. They also went above and beyond and painted my stairway railing spindles even after I told them they didn't have to and it was not included in the price I was paying. Overall, I think the job was nicely done. I do have a few take aways for the next time - make sure that the Angies list discount is listed and called out on the written estimate. It was not, so I had assumed it was not included yet, but when I asked, Dan said he had already taken it into consideration. Since I couldn't validate that, I went with the original estimate and will know for next time. Second, have the paint included in the price. I had chosen to pay for the paint separately and Dan had given me an estimate. Unfortunately, it came in much higher (2x) than estimated, so I worked with Dan to negotiate on price. Dan was very reasonable and negotiated to a price I could afford. I would recommend Dan Collins Painting to anyone needing interior painting done.

Dan and his crew were helpful, patient and caring as the time frame was initially limited and there was a lot to juggle and figure out. The house had many oddities but they always found a solution.

From start to finish this went extremely well - no problems whatever. They were prompt and the painter worked very hard without taking any breaks.

Dan came within 2 days of us calling him to provide an estimate for the job--taking any necessary measurements and reviewing our color preferences. He was thorough and professional (and our dog loved him). A few days later he contacted us with his estimate, which was more competitive than the other estimates we received (we got a total of 3). More affordable and professional--we were sold. We were able to start work the following week (within a week of our original call to Dan) and his team showed up on time, did great work--and left the home cleaner than when they arrived (they even vacuumed!). My wife and I were very happy with the workers and the overall process--and our newly painted rooms look SO much better--it is amazing what a fresh coat (or two) of paint can do to a home! We will be using Dan Collins Painting for any other painting jobs we have in the future.

I had gotten three estimates, all from "A - rated" Angie's List painters, and was surprised to find that the lowest estimate had come from Dan Collins, since he had seemed the most knowledgeable of the three to me, and I was therefore expecting him to be the most expensive. He told me that he was involved in finishing several jobs but would be available in two to three weeks. He was. His men arrived on time, each man knew exactly what to do and how to do it, each man worked independently and with great attention to details, finished his job on time, and cleaned up after himself so that everything, inside or out, looked as it had before they had arrived --- except that the area worked upon was now painted. If one of the painters finished his particular job early, he would pitch in to help one of his co-workers, so they could finish sooner. The spirit of cooperation and camaraderie was impressive. In my interactions with the painters, I found them to be friendly, considerate, industrious, and diligent. Dan has assembled a first-class team of painters, and they all have my respect and appreciation. At the conclusion of each day's work, Dan would come by to inspect the job and find out if I was happy with the results. He would also tell me what time the painters would be back the next day, and they were always there on time and ready to work. The job they did, both inside and outside, was excellent. In fact, they exceeded my expectations, and I'm delighted with the results. If you are looking for an honest, reliable, efficient, highly competent painter who takes pride in his work, you need look no further! I would have no reservations in recommending Dan Collins to both friends and strangers, and I will certainly use him for all of my future painting needs.

I originally contacted Dan Collins Painting in the early summer for an estimate to paint our copper roof. Dan got back to me promptly, came to our home to price the job and submitted a reasonable estimate which my wife and I accepted. His price was better than the 2 other estimates we had received. The price Dan quoted included power washing using a bleaching component to remove algae, mold & mildew and high quality DTM (Direct To Metal) paint. He suggested several colors to make the roof stand out. After much hemming and hawing, my wife and I finally decided on Colonial Red. It should be mentioned that before any work on our roof could start, we needed our chimney pointed. Dan referred us to a chimney pointer he knew who we hired. He completed the chimney in early July and did an excellent job. We also needed snow guards/ice breakers to attach to the seams of the roof. Here again Dan suggested a company which we contacted that was able to supply and install the metal guards in the same color (Colonial Red). That company actually held things up for a while, but that certainly wasn't Dan's fault and he kept in touch with us throughout the process. He answers his cell phone when you call! After a very wet summer and early fall (Hurricane Irene and tropical storm Lee didn't help matters) , 2 of Dan's crew came out and power washed our roof in late September. They did a wonderful job. Around a week later Dan's crew came out to finally paint our roof. Over the course of 3 days with 3 to 4 painters at a time, 2 coats of paint were applied by rolling and spraying. All of Dan's crew were courteous, professional and cleaned up after themselves. They also painted our gutters and downspouts which really finished the job. My wife and I could not be happier with the results and would highly recommend Dan's work.

We got his name through Angie's List. His team was excellent. They just finished last weekend and it took about a week to do. I will work with them again in the future.

Wanted to go with him, but no response.

I had been putting off this painting project for quite some time. Given how fast the work got done from first contacting Dan Collins to completion, I should have done it sooner. Contacting through email made it easy to schedule a time for getting an estimate and coordinating a date for the job to be done. The work was completed within a week of first emailing! Dan and his employee who painted are very professional and pleasant to work with and the house looks great. I would definitely hire again.

The painter was on time each day was very professional & cleaned lays each day.The job was closely supervised by Dan Collings & the Frank was very reasonable.

They started with the outside house repaint and cleaning of gutters and carpentry work. Then they renovated the damaged storage roomand laundry room which led to painting the interior.
