Bob Allen Custom Carpet

Bob has been cleaning our carpets and upholstery for 25 years, and has also installed carpeting several times. He does a beautiful, thorough job. I highly recommend his services.

I was referred to Bob Allen by a floor covering store in Roslyn, Pa. I called Bob and made an appointment for him to come to the house and look at the job. There were two carpets that needed cleaning. Bob said he could clean one carpet but recommended that I purchase a new carpet for the second one. I called him later the same day and made an appointment for him to clean the carpet. He showed up on time and cleaned the 12 x 18 foot carpet in a little over an hour. He did a great job. The carpet looks like new. He only uses natural ingredients which leave no after-smell. I would highly recommend him. The cost is a bit more than most carpet cleaners but Bob doesn't use chemicals and moves the furniture around himself at no extra cost.

Initially they were great, I contacted them through the website and got a prompt response. I emailed back-and-forth with 'Bob' and told him what we wanted. His last communication with me was to ask for contact information so they could stop by with samples. I sent him my cell phone number and street address. I never got a response after that. I called them a week or two later and left my phone number on the voicemail. Nothing. I emailed him again a few days after that. Nothing. There was a big storm, and maybe they had no power or they were really busy with clean-up jobs, but I think it's incredibly unprofessional (and just weird) to simply ignore a potential customer after asking them for their contact info so you can stop by with samples. If they didn't want the work or couldn't do the job just say so. We were really happy to be supporting a local business instead of going to a chain or box store, but for some reason they couldn't be bothered to respond. Bummer. I did try to go to their website today (11/8/12) to see if they had some kind of storm-related issue posted and that's why they weren't available, but the website wouldn't load at all. So maybe they're just out of business altogether or something. Guess I'll never know.
