Marino Construction did a fantastic job on our kitchen renovation. Sam Trentadue and Marino are about quality, attention to detail, and craftsmanship. We chose Marino based on their reputation and they exceeded our expectations. Our home is over 90 years-old in a tudor style with a lot of old woodwork and charm. We wanted the new kitchen to stay in keeping with the vintage feel of the home and Marino worked with us to do this in terms of design, choice of materials, and finishing details. Their designer helped us make our cabinet, counter, tile, and paint selections and we absolutely love them. She was always available for a consult when we needed it and we knew we could rely on her expert opinion and good taste to steer us. Sam responded quickly to phone calls if we had a question or an issue, he was on the job site almost daily, and he went above and beyond many times on our project to make sure we were satisfied. Sam's crew is hard working, highly skilled, and cared about our home, our family, and even our dog. It was a pleasure getting to know everyone during the job. We had to go out of town for a few days in the middle of the renovation, and we felt totally comfortable handing the key to Sam and having the work continue while we were gone. Our job included demolition of a 1970's kitchen, removing four layers of flooring down to the joists and installing a new hardwood floor, flat studding two exterior walls and adding insulation, replastering those walls with hard coat plaster, installing new custom cabinetry, designing and building a custom support system for an 8-foot breakfast bar topped with a quartz countertop, installation of new electrical including under cabinet lighting, and new pendant lights, and much more. There are always surprises in a very old home, and the Marino crew were amazing problem-solvers who demonstrated a wealth of experience and expertise. We are thrilled with the way the finish carpentry in the kitchen and adjoining hallway not only blend with our vintage home, but enhance it. Marino's subs (for items such as plastering, electrical, etc.) are also quality tradesmen. Thanks to Marino, we have a dream kitchen that perfectly blends modern and vintage elements. We are extremely satisfied and very glad we chose Marino Construction for our project. We will be calling them in the future for a bathroom renovation and we would highly recommend them to anyone.

We have a house that was built in the 1950s. The main bathroom was completely tiled, walls and ceiling in green, floor in pink and green, with a black tile border around the upper walls. The toilet and the tub were pink, and the shower doors had swans on them. The lighting was flourescent. In addition, the bathroom contained one outlet underneath one of the flourescent lights that was tied into the main light switch. However, in spite of the 1950s theme, the bathroom was very well constructed. Our purpose in renovating this room was to update this bathroom and make it more energy efficient while maintaining the high quality of construction with which it had originally been built. In addition, we wanted a very simple, traditional style of durable quality so we would only have to renovate this bathroom one time in our lifetime. We liked Marino Construction Co from the very first meeting we had with the designer and the contractor. They came to our house to see the bathroom and take some measurements, etc. The next step was a meeting with the designer so she could understand what we were looking for. A few more meetings followed that one, with proposal/estimate reviews, materials selection discussions, etc. We had never done such an extensive project so we needed a lot of help selecting things like tiles, counter tops, vanity, fixtures, etc. The designer was wonderful about explaining different options and referring us to others, for example at tile suppliers and plumbing suppliers, who could provide us with even more information. In addition, the designer was always available to help us sift through all the options, answer our questions, and provide expert advice on the quality, durability, and functionality of all that we considered. We took quite a while to make our final decisions but everyone at Marino was extremely patient and accommodating to us throughout the entire process. Once we had made all the decisions and received the final estimate, Marino Construction was even able to accommodate our schedules. We had a specific time in mind regarding the start of this project and, despite the length of time it took us to make all of our final decisions, the contractor was able to begin on the exact date we had hoped for. We were most worried about the demolition phase since everything was coming out. But it ran very smoothly and was completed in two days! The project was planned for 5-6 weeks and in that time, in addition to the contractor, we have had a plumber, electrician, carpenter, painter and tile installers working in our home. All have kept us updated on what was going on each day and how the project was progressing. In addition, the designer has checked in on the project regularly and has met with us and others on the project to review what was to happen next and to see if we were still happy with the original design, to explore additional options, and to see if we wanted to make any changes. It has been extremely reassuring to us to be included in the progress of the project at every stage. Every person who has worked on this project has been very professional and has paid extreme attention to detail. And the craftsmanship has been excellent! All the woodwork is solid wood, all the piping copper, the tile and grout work is beautiful, the added electrical work so much more efficient, all the painting and staining perfectly done. We are only a few days away from completion and this bathroom is already the most beautiful room we have ever owned! Also important to us has been the kindness extended to us, our family, and our pets by everyone on this project. We truly feel like we have gotten to know some wonderful people through this renovation and look forward to having them in our home again. We will absolutely be doing business with Marino Construction Co again.
Description of Work: We contracted with Marino Construction Co to gut out main floor "1950s" bathroom and renovate it. We had wall, ceiling and floor tiles removed; all fixtures, including built in flourescent lighted medicine cabinet removed; and the built in cabinet/laundry shoot sanded and restained, and new doors and trim made for them to match the new cabinetry/vanity installed. We also had the sub-floors replaced for the new tile, had new copper piping installed for the new hand-held shower fixture, and new electrical work done to add an outlet, a fan, and all new lighting. The project has included extensive demolition, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting and staining, and tile installation.

in 2008 we used Marino Construction to remodel our kitchen and were very impressed with the quality, reliability, and professionalism of the company. So we naturally went back to them when it was time to remodel two bathrooms in the same style. They removed the old cabinets and bulkheads which had held florescent lighting fixtures, installed new cabinets and new light fixtures, and did associated drywall modifications and repairs. In addition, at our request, they created and installed cornices atop the windows in the living room and dining room to match the kitchen cabinets they had installed in 2008. And when, because of the cornices' structural constraints that we hadn't anticipated, the cornices were not what we expected, they cheerfully worked with us on a modification. The end result is perfect.
Description of Work: Replace cabinets and do associated drywall modifications in two bathrooms, and design, build, and install drapery cornices in living room and diining room to match new kitchen cabinets installed in 2008.

It is an absolutely excellent organization. The quality was fine. The timing of their work was as scheduled. They have been very reliable and responsive to any repairs that were needed and those have been few. What stood out about them were the reliability, quality and design. Their price was probably a little higher than that of others but it was worth it. We have recommended them and people have had them do work for them. We showed them what is listed for them on Angies List when they came out recently to give the estimate for the bathroom. They had not seen it.
Description of Work: Marino Construction Co has remodeled a kitchen for us. They also came out recently to give an estimate for the bathroom.

From beginning to end, this remodeling job was done using quality materials installed by expert craftsmen. Planning was executed by Marino's exceptional kitchen designer who patiently and promptly answered my endless questions. She was actively engaged throughout each phase of the project. She even accompanied me to the flooring store and granite center to help coordinate my choices. The moving of my furniture was done with the utmost respect for my possessions by workers who clearly had experience in manuvering around corners and tight spots. My kitchen cabinets, crown moulding and baseboards were done with attention to detail that is rare these days. Flooring and painting were done by well-supervised contractors who adhered to Marino's high standards of workmanship. Individually and collectively Marino Construction embodies the highest standards of workmanship and customer service. I highly recommend this fine company.

The experience went extremely well. They had a young girl who was their kitchen designer. She was extremely good and had a lot of good ideas. Unlike their competitors, she was listening to listen to my wife's ideas. They worked very well together. That was what set them apart from the competition.
Description of Work: They were the contractor that remodeled our kitchen.
