While they did provide the moving service, they provided us with an estimate that was very different than the invoiced amount. I spoke to our estimator about this, who came and saw the space before we moved. He told us he discussed our concerns with the owner, who responded with the answer that the hours are the hours. I wouldn’t mind the hours going over and labor being a little higher, but I do mind that the difference is a couple thousand dollars off the estimate, especially when the estimator had seen the space beforehand. Also, I mind when the excuses for men standing around was that the elevator could only fit so much but our managers on site during the move said that the stairs were not utilized to bring up smaller items or boxes to minimize the labor hours. I believe this company will stretch out how long they spend on jobs and then not take accountability for this or their poor estimates. We were also told that this decision was made by the owner. We have two more moves coming up in the future, which was discussed with the estimator who told the owner, and this didn’t seem to matter. It seems they are looking to make a quick buck and are not concerned with returning customer business, which is telling. I would not recommend unless you want to pay more (much more) than your estimate

Our family of 4 (with baby and toddler) were relocating from Pittsburgh to San Antonio so my husband could serve in the Army. This meant the Army would be paying for the move. The moving assessment, day of packing and loading it onto the truck went seamlessly. Everyone I was in contact with were helpful and timely. Even on moving day (July 2), Jim and DJ arrived on time and did a fantastic job. I was more than satisfied with their service. From then on, it's been completely downhill. I asked when our things would be delivered when it was being loaded and they informed me a driver had yet to be assigned. No one called me after that, I had to call to find out about delivery. After a few days went by, I called again and they still did not know a date of delivery. Still no drivers were available. Around mid-week (July 10) I called yet again and Billy said there still wasn't a driver. He also said they were waiting for a large truck from Mayflower to deliver our things plus 2 other families. This meant they wanted to save money and combine several moves thus delaying our deadline delivery date of July 12. On July 12th, I called again since I checked Mayflowers website and a driver had finally been assigned. No one called me back. I called again July 15th and talked to Jim Ruffalo. He said he would call the driver directly to find out a date of delivery and I still have not received a call back from him or anyone from Maroadi. I have now been in contact with Mayflower directly which had been just as useless. Bottom line, our delivery end date was July 12. Our things are still in storage in Pittsburgh. We have been stuck in a hotel with 2 kids now for 2 weeks and we still have no idea when our things will arrive. I'm appalled by the poor service and the unresponsiveness of the staff to keep us informed. I also cannot believe that a company would treat anyone let alone someone trying to serve his country in this manner just to save money.
Description of Work: Packed our belongings and moved them to storage. So far our belongings have yet to be shipped to us.

The good things: Everything was transported safely. The drivers were very helpful and professional. The transportation took about as long as expected. The sales team at Maroadi was great as well. The first issue of note is that the price came in WAY higher than the other quotes. The other quotes for home and auto transport ranged from $5500 to $6500. Maroadi was a good $1500 - $2500 above that. Now, I'm not going to complain since my new job paid the bill and the stuff got there in good shape, but strictly on price they were definitely the highest of the 4 quotes. The other 3 were from well-rated companies (I ignored the spam messages that claimed to be willing to transport everything for $3000). We were less than impressed with the responsiveness and usefulness of the Maroadi office: 1) I booked the move two months in advance. I called and asked when I would know the date and time and was told "closer to the move". I called back every 1-3 weeks and always was told "closer to the move". No one ever told me what that meant until a week before when I was told that "closer to the move" meant "the morning of the move". That would have been fine if I was just told that when I first booked it. 2) On the day the stuff was picked up, we were supposed to have had a permit issued so that no cars would be allowed to park in front of our house. That didn't happen. The driver called a bunch of people. Maroadi blamed the local affiliate in San Francisco. The local affiliate blamed the SF police. But the buck stops with the company who booked it and it didn't happen. As a result, we were out $200 for the permit (which wasn't issued, but, hey, THAT is my new boss's problem). And the driver had to take his truck down to a local U-Haul depot, rent a U-Haul, load all our stuff onto the small U-Haul, and then drive it back to his truck and transfer it. Fortunately, nothing seems to have been any worse for the added trips, but it certainly made the whole process very inefficient. 3) There was more than one discussion with drivers and others involved in the move about whether the big trucks could park in front of our house. I wasn't sure. Maroadi looked at Google Earth and said they would need to do a drive by. They didn't do the drive by and so our car had to be picked up 45 minutes out of town. The stuff was brought to our front door and, thankfully, no one gave us trouble about have an 80,000 pound 18-wheeler in front of our house, but I was again not impressed with the organization and communication to the drivers. I suppose I should be happy that another U-haul wasn't needed. Anyway, overall it was great, but the price was higher than competitors and the office wasn't as helpful as I would have liked basically from the time that the move was booked and I no longer was dealing with the sales team until our stuff arrived.
Description of Work: Maroadi arranged for my family to move out to Pittsburgh from San Francisco. We used them because they have a good relationship with our new employer, who was paying for the move. Before we signed on with Maroadi, we got 3 other estimates from California companies. They transported our apartment full of stuff and also transported our car separately.

Description of Work: The moving company sent a team of 4 men with very positive attitudes who never stopped working except for 30 min. lunch. They took extremely good care of all our belongings as they loaded them on the trucks. They were well trained and helpful. When it was raining, they took extra precautions. The company stored our household goods on the trucks for an entire day without extra cost while we were involved in 2 closings--the house we were selling and the one we were buying. The same team arrived on time the day we moved in to the new house. They worked extremely hard. They were really nice about putting things just where we wanted them and setting things up. We were charged a little LESS than the estimate. This was a big relief, because a friend, who used another company, was charged a thousand dollars more than her estimate. We waived our right for an inventory, but nothing was lost. All our belongings arrived safely without any damage.

They were prompt and courteous. They were accurate and reasonably priced, and provided all the information that they were supposed to provide. I didn't have to keep asking them for details. I didn't go with them because they were just a little higher than the other ones. They were the last ones to respond. I picked them for giving me a quote because they were rated higher on Angie's List. All three movers that I evaluated had really high ratings on Angie's List.

It wasn't until I started packing that I realized I still had way too much stuff. I'd been packing for a week, but on Moving Day wasn't finished. I'd had only 3 hours sleep, dreaded the thought of strange men handling my things, and felt panicky. When the team arrived (Eddie, Sean, Handerson and Gary the Team Leader) I asked them to sit down so I could explain my situation. I gave them a tour, showed them 2 storage areas that needed to be emptied, items that had to go to the dumpster, and items that needed special handling. Gary listened and took it all in. I noticed throughout the day he remembered everything on my list - even when I'd already forgotten. Gary directed the others and they worked in teams. Once they set to work I didn't have to worry, or hover. I kept on packing, and they worked quickly, orderly and quietly. When everything that was boxed had been loaded, they helped me wrap and pack the rest and we hit the road. At my new home they followed the color coded floor plan and delivered all the boxes to the correct rooms so I wouldn't have to move them later. They put down a carpet and recliner chair for me to plop into - while they finished unloading. Everyone dreads moving day - but it was a pleasure to work with these gentlemen. It's really hard labor, and can be a very long day. Marodi Transfer had been recommended to me by my Realtor and by friends - I recommend them to anyone who needs professional movers.
Description of Work: Marodi Transfer provided a team of 4 men for a Local Move within Allegheny County. The job involved a telephone estimate, followed by an in-person review of the goods to be moved to confirm the estimate. The work involved moving 2 trucks-full of furniture and "stuff" out of a high-rise apartment complex into a 3-bedroom home on a cold, wet snowy day. The work was priced at $134/hour and moving day was 7.5 hours of labor including 1.0 hours of travel time, plus fuel charge. The original estimate was accurate, the move went incredibly well, and the whole team was professional, especially the moving men.
