I purchased a special Angie's List coupon for a service upgrade from Tom's Electric. The existing service in my 85 years old house was a mess of cobbled together fuse panels with not enough capacity for some appliances I had added when remodeling my kitchen. Tom Jewkes, the owner of Tom's, contacted me promptly to talk about the installation. Since I was not in a big rush and winter weather had him tied up with emergency calls we postponed the actual installation for a while, but he kept in touch with me and did come by to look at my current installation, at which time I agreed with his recommendation to upgrade from 100 amp to 150 amp, since he determined my utility drop would accommodate it and I needed a new service cable anyway. I'm actually a formerly licensed electrician myself, but I did not feel like doing this job myself. He emailed me a quote for the additional charge for the upgrade (the coupon was for a 100 amp service) and it was reasonable for the added work. Tom was very professional and informative in our discussions and we eventually settled on this week for the installation. Even though the weather was very cold and snowy today, he and his crew honored the appointment and showed up when they had committed to do so. They worked quickly and in a very professional and organized manner. They had the entire job complete in less than 4 hours -- in fact the power was only off for 2 hours and the house barely cooled down at all before they had everything up and running. The installation is tidy and they cleaned up completely afterwards, also traced all the circuits in the house and tagged the breakers. They even got the inspector to come before they finished and he passed and stickered the panel immediately. I was very pleased with the speed and quality of the work and the professional attitude of Tom and his workmen. I would recommend them without reservation for any residential or commercial electrical installations.

the kitchen electricity went out. the first electrician said that the wires were bad so he fixed it temporarily. it did not last. tom assed the damage and said I need to change the outside and inside electrical box. according to management I only neded to add more circuits. so it looks like I paid for work I did not NEED. it was an emergency and I could not get anyone in there asap. and I specifically asked tom if I could just fix the kitchen but the answer was no and I need to change the entire thing. the electric was already upgraded to 100 amp so what I don't get is how could it have gone bad so soon.

It didn't take long for him to find the problem. The wiring was coming apart in a junction box and almost caused a fire. He was quick and professional. Got to my house less than an hour after I called and I didn't need an appointment.

We did not use Tom, but I'm writing this review to say that he was very prompt in coming out to look at the job. He emailed the quote over a few days later, which allowed us to make quick decisions. He was great about answering questions. Overall, I can say he is professional and prompt.... which much better than what I can say about several other companies that I contacted. For that reason, I decided to write this review.

My characterization of this electrician is that he and is organization is professional, responsive and demonstrably capable. Tom was patient regarding the extended repayment timeline which was contingent on insurance processing. I estimate that the pricing on a Holiday was fair since this was an emergency call and he was the first electrician that I was able to contact on Easter Sunday. The other two companies I had tried contacting responded several days later after my repairs had already been completed. This was my first time using Tom's Electrical and I would definitely use his company again.

Great guy and company, too. I would recommend him and use him again if I needed anything for electrical.

The bathroom exhaust fan I had bought to replace the old one, was not going to fit properly, so I had to run out while he worked on other things and find one that would fit. He helped me with the exact details that I would need to look for (housing dimensions to fit in the ceiling and to cover the existing hole in ceiling) so that a replacement would fit. Initially he wired it so the fan and light came on together and I wanted them separate, he quickly knew what to do to make that happen. Some of the work that I needed in the garage was out of the normal work that would have been included in the "deal" so I had to pay a fair price for their parts.

It was good. They came they did the work and got it done. It was slightly expensive but they did good work.

It went great. He showed up when he was supposed to, was a very nice, and did everything he was supposed to.

They couldn’t do the one job I wanted them to do. It was for a fan unit in the attic, it turns out the fan itself was bad. There were some smaller electric jobs they couldn’t do because they didn’t have the right parts. They did do a larger job for me, and they did it well.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was very good. I paid an additional $80 for materials for the outlets. It was two people and one of them was excellent. The price was reasonable because it is usually $75 per hour and I paid less than that. I think one of their employees was learning.

They were great. They were here on-time. They made suggestions which really worked out better than our original plan. They were real quick and did everything fast. We were very satisfied with the finished result. We would use them again in the future, and we have already recommended them to other people. So, we were really pleased with them.

We were happy with the work Tom did and thought he was very nice and helpful as well.

Repairs were quick, 3 guys came and worked very efficiently

I thought it went okay. He seemed nice enough, but I never heard from him again. It has been 3 weeks. If he could not of done the job I would of aqppreciated at least he telling me this.

I contacted the provider saying we would want something done in May. He stated that wouldn't be a problem. Since the beginning of May, I have made several attempts to contact through phone and email with no successs. His voicemail is no longer accepting calls.

After having a few electricians not respond to my calls and having one give me an estimate only to turn around and say the job was going to be too difficult, I was getting discouraged. Tom from Tom's Electrical responded promptly. There was actually a mix-up with my phone number, and he went out of his way to get in touch with me. He came out on a Friday evening to look at the project and gave me an estimate within a few days. He was able to work me into his schedule within 2 weeks. He and a crew of about 5 were able to complete the job in 1 1/2 days - even working on a Saturday! They were professional and did an excellent job. I was very pleased and would definitely recommend Tom's Electrical.

Tom did an excellent job installing the surge protector for the entire home while giving detailed instructions on its use. I would use him again for any home electrical needs.

He was trying to up sell me and discourage me from using the Big Deal. He told me the product was generic, but that he would be able to offer me a $450 dollar surge protection from a band name one. When I told he uncomfortable with the Big Deal and wanted to cancel, he seemed glad and hung up.

I called to make an appointment for the service. During the call, they made me aware of extra costs that could be associated with the deal like drywall work, checking if the water meter was grounded properly and they attempted to sell the upgraded surge protector as well. After hearing the costs, we decided not to go through with the work.

Tom came on time, performed the work in a professional and timely manner. Our electricity was only off for four hours and turned back on with no issues. The electrical inspection was conducted the following day and passed with not problems.

There is a little more work than I was originally going to do. They were very professional and really good. They came out a day or two after I called. I decided to hold off financially because there is additional work that I want to get done at the same day in addition to the deal that I bought. They were very, very good.

I ended up getting a refund because the job was going to be larger than the Deal allotted for. He was perfectly nice, professional, and left me with a good impression. I will use someone else I'd already spoken to.
