Description of Work: Tom called and said he would be sending a guy that lives closer to me to do the work, his name was Kevin. Kevin showed up at 7 am, and i showed him the three things i needed done, a plug put in my garage for the new garage door opener, a flood light up in the corner of my home, and a deck porch light up on deck with a switch. Kevin put in the garage plug, just a regular plug, but he said it would be easier if he had another guy to help fish wires in wall, I said O.K. , he said he would call Tom and let him know what was going on and he would call to set up appt. to come back out. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Exteriors is doing my roof, 9 windows, siding, and new vinyl porch railings at my home. Tom called to time when the siding would be pulled, because it would be easier for the work to get done if the siding was off. We decided he would be out on 8/7/2013, Tom showed up around 3;15 pm and had 2 other men with him. I showed him what Kevin had done in the garage and what and where I needed the other work done. Tom was very short with me, and in a hurry, almost to the point of being rude. Tom and the other guys started doing the work, but need a double stack switch for the flood light and the deck light, so my husband Mike went out to buy it. Tom also asked if we would like him to switch out our outdoor plugs,2 of them, because they were not up to code, and my husband said yes. Tom and his men finished the job and was at our home for about 1 hour and 30 min., and Kevin was at my home for about 1 hour 45 min., so total time at my home was maybe 4 hours total, and that is being generous!! Anyway, Tom wrote up a customer invoice which read, added plug for garage door opener, added stack switch at rear door for 2 new lights, 1 at rear door and 1 at and above garage door, installed 2 GFI recepticals outside rear, then, on the amount side it says $90.00 in the amount column, Miscellaneous line says $5.00, Material total line says $123.45, and in the total box it says $218.45, when he showed me this invoice I was astonished!!! I asked him why i owed him this when I already paid $399.00 for a electrician for 8 hours and I have only got Maybe 4 Hours of actual working time, Tom said he would take off $18.00 but that was what was owed because 1, he brought 2 guys with him, and that the GFI plugs were not for free! and that he was inconvenienced having to wait until my siding was ripped off for him to come get the work done. Needless to say I was p*****, and so was my husband. I wrote Tom a check for $200.00 and he left. About 10 minutes I called Tom on his cell phone, but his mailbox said it was full, which it had been for the other 10 times I tried calling him thru the week, but he called me back and I asked him why he would charge me so much money for the little bit of work that was done and only getting 4 hours of labor when I paid for 8 hours of labor , he proceeded to screem at me saying He had 2 guys with him to do the work, and that Kevin was already here once, and I was crazy and I obviously didn't know that electricians don't come cheap! I have waited for a week to post this experience because I was so upset, I didn't want my emotions to spill over in what was my worst experience with a contractor ever!!!! Pittsburgh Exteriors has been doing excellent work at our home now for 11 days, they even worked saturday and sunday, and have been the most accommodating and attention detailed guys since the first time they were here bidding on the job. I joined Angie's list because I wanted to insure I was hiring the right people for the job, based on your ratings and awards given to contractors I didn't hesitate to take advantage of your deal of the day, but $599.00 dollars later I am very upset that I was taken advantage of. There is no way I should have been charged that much for the little bit of work that was done, and I hope what he did works because the lights have not been hung yet, all Tom did was pull the wires so the guys at Pittsburgh Exteriors can put up the new siding. I don't know if I can trust Angie's list for any more work that I need done????? HELP!!! Kathleen Camino
