Very well. Did a good job. Would use again.

They came out and gave an estimate. They said we didn't have $500 worth of work. Asked if they would add work to the estimate to make it $500 and they said no.

I will not be using this deal because I feel like their estimate came back to high, I got a second estimate and they were $1000 less then Pell's. So I checked with them on just doing one tree removal and they haven't responded back yet. They were initially quick with getting back with me.

They do not service my area. It took me over a week and a half to even get into contact with them about scheduling.

John Pell is professional, personable and knows his business thoroughly. He is a pleasure to work with. I will be asking him to do more work on our property this year.

He was very pleasant to speak with, but the price was much more than I expected. I am getting a refund for the deal.

John Pell responded promptly to my phone call in April and was out within the week to look at the job site and send me an estimate. This was in direct contrast to other landscapers I called who were far slower to respond (or did not respond). I then delayed the job till early June when the crape myrtle came in. The two landscapers from Pell's that did the job were extremely professional and courteous and on the whole did a great job. There was an issue with the state of the crape myrtle which was damaged at the back. The nursery denies they would have given them a damaged tree but I cannot verify this since I did not pick it up myself. That aside, I do fault the Pell's landscapers for telling me about it after the tree had been planted instead of beforehand when I could have replaced it more easily and without paying them to plant it. Finally, the price seemed high but I do not know costs for this kind of work. The voucher from Angie's List definitely helped and overall I was very happy with the experience and would use them again.

Got several price quotes from Angie's listers. Pell came in with the best price. I liked dealing with the owner because he was able to make decisions on the spot. Work crew of 4 or 5 arrived at 9am to begin job. Worked till 5 to complete the job. At this point, the stump grinding crew (2 or 3 guys) arrived. They worked till sundown to complete the job and clean up. When they finished, I noticed that my 20 solar lamps, which they had removed to prevent damage, were lined up and and straighter than they'd been originally. Since about a third of he tree canopy overhung my house, I was leery about cut branches grazing (or worse) the roof. Not a problem. I was home all day and didn't hear a ding. All in all, a bunch of very skilled, hard-working pros.

They were amazing. The workers were great and so cordial. So happy we used them.

I initially called Pell's to get an estimate for some work to be done around my yard. This included pruning of a few trees, and removal of a couple of small trees. They had a coupon at the time for $250 off of $500 of more. At the time of the call, I mentioned the coupon. John came out and took a look at the property. He provided the estimate, and all the prices were very reasonable. I decided to hold off on getting the work done until the following spring. The following spring, I called John and asked if he'd still be willing to do the work and he said he would. The total job was approximately $600. I mentioned the coupon again, and told him I'd call him back to schedule a time. When I called him back to schedule the appointment he told me I had already been scheduled and he'd be coming that week. He also told me that since I hadn't purchased the coupon to this point, he wouldn't accept it on the job. I apologized for not having purchased the coupon prior to the work, but told him I did not know I was on the schedule, and reminded him that I had mentioned the coupon each time we talked. Until that point he had stated that he would honor it when we spoke on the phone several times. After about 20 minutes of back and forth on the phone, he agreed to do the job and take half of the price of the coupon off the job. I was not satisfied with this, but I did not want to go through the trouble of finding another contractor to do the job when they were already scheduled to come out that week. The job consisted of pruning a few trees, removal of one tree, and grinding of a stump on a second larger tree that I had removed myself. They did a good job pruning all of the trees, and with the removal of one tree. I expected the stump grinding to be done the same day, but John called me and told me that it would need to be a separate day later that week as he needed to bring the stump grinder out. It ended up being about 2 weeks before he actually came to grind the stumps. I had made it clear that I was planning to plant another tree on the spot of the larger tree, so I asked him to remove as much debris as possible. When the tree stump was ground, the majority of the debris was left behind. They also ripped up the grass between my driveway and the tree (about 5 feet). The final task I had asked them to complete was removal of some brush that I had created when I removed the large tree and done some other yard work myself. John said that he would give me a quote when they ground the stumps and get rid of everything at the time if he was able. If the pile was too big, he would need to bring the truck out another day. He ended up needing to bring the truck out another day, which was not surprising to me as I had a lot of brush to clear. This took about another month and 2 or 3 phone calls to get taken care of. In the end the price was fair, and the work was completed. John is a nice guy and really knows his stuff. The communication regarding expectations and timing is lacking though.

When I called to get the estimate, the company tried to dissuade me from using an Angie's list coupon saying it might be cheaper if I did not use it. After getting the estimate, I determined that using the coupon would be cheaper and the company honored it. As to the work, I received a call the evening before the work was performed so I was not available to be on site to see the process. I went the next day and saw that some of the debris from the cut branches were still on the property. I had to call someone to come back and pick them up. To be fair, the actual branch cutting they did was good. I also had a dispute with them regarding "dead wood" that I asked them to remove when getting the original estimate. The invoice said: "Prune Maple tree located in back right corner of property as well as Prune Neighbors Maple along Back property line to provide additional clearance from garage roof, thin out congestion on property side of tree and remove deadwood" Before the job was performed there was existing dead wood in this garage area and my impression after reading this entry was that it would be removed. It was not. The company said that the term dead wood referred to the branches they cut, not anything existing on the property prior to the job being performed. Given the lack of clarity, I asked for some recompense (such as them removing this wood) but received none. I paid my bill but am not using these guys again because they admitted their lack of clarity but were unwilling to do anything to reach a resolution on the issue.

Pell's replied quickly, and came out to survey our needs. Unfortunately, we weren't able to use their services, but would consider doing so in the future.

They arrived when they said they would and got the job done very quickly. My only complaint would be that they wouldn't accept the coupon I had bought since the coupon was for $500 of service, and their quote was for just $450 (which I'm sure was no coincidence - I wonder what the quote would have been if they hadn't known I had bought the coupon). But even still, I had gotten another quote for $700 so I'm still happy with only paying $450 for it. And it came out so well that my neighbors came by afterward to ask for their phone number for some tree work they wanted done.

We were fully satisfied with the work performed. John and his team were great and the work was completed on time as promised.

Communication was very good with service occurring as discussed. Perennials around the removed tree were removed and replaced after the tree stump was ground, and the area looked completely restored. Excellent work overall.

Pell's took great care to move all of our patio furniture and firepit out of the way so it would not get damaged. They worked extremely hard from 8:30am-8:30pm. They were nice, punctual, professional and did a great job. We will definitely use them again in the future!

John Pell came out to examine what was needed. He was very polite and friendly. However, because what I needed would take several people to do and I did not want to spend more than the Big Deal fee, he was unable to take a few workers from his larger crews (ie . break up his larger crews) for such a small job during such a busy period (right after a storm). He was apologetic, but suggested I ask for a refund from Angie's List. I totally understood the problem and was very willing to ask for the refund. If I had a larger project, I would have asked him to do it.

It went very well. They were on time and they did the job well and they were faster about it than I expected. I paid more than the "Big Deal" but the $250 coupon was included because I had a lot more done. The price was good. Their timeliness was good. They were on time. They went right to work and they got the job done. I absolutely would use them again.

We did wait for an appointment because the winter gave them a huge backlog. They called and came out to do the work. We didn't even see them but the job was done well.

It went great. The owner came and reviewed all the trees on our property (we have several). He went over whaat he wanted to do and then went back to the office and we got an estimate in a day or two. The estimate was to do a lot of work and we were not ready to do so much so we talked and he broke the job down to what he felt was critical and what could wait. We agreed and we were put on his schedule. He called the day before they were to come and do the work to make sure that it was a good time for me. The came exactly when they said they would. The did an excellent job, and a superb cleanup. They had two machines and neither hurt and of my grass or yard. They did such a great job that the rest of the area looks like it should be done so we are going to ask them to come out and do a little more. This is a great company. Kristi works the office and she always has an answer and it is nice to talk to a human instead of a machine. I would highly recommend this company

They contacted me the very next day by email and let me know that I am out of their service area and to reach out to Angie's list for further assistance. They were very considerate and got back with very promptly. Even though they could not service my area, I appreciated the fact they reached out quickly.

We don't like having to write this review, but Mr. Pell is uncommonly oversensitive to the slightest criticism. Back in February he took down a tree for us and we were very satisfied with the work. We reviewed it and gave him a very good rating--a B only because they left scattered small branches that could easily have been cleaned up. We stated the quality and price, and promptness were all A quality and we would recommend them and use them again. At the bottom of the bill ($900), he wrote they would return and remove the stump later in the year and quoted a price of $150. We have been trying to reach him for about a week and today he called back and said he would not come and do the work because he said "You were not satisfied with my work before and so you won't be satisfied if I come and do this work," or words to that effect. My husband said we had been very satisfied with the work and reiterated the good review we had given him, but he refused to honor his commitment and would not come. This is rather sad. Since when is a review with 3 A's and 3 B's a bad review? We considered it a good review, but now we could no longer recommend this company. Obviously he doesn't need our business, but this was very unprofessional.

I called in late June to ask for an estimate. When I first spoke with Kristi , I was told I would have the estimate in about 3 days. For the next week I called twice a day with no answer and no response. When I finally did reach her she told me she had not recieved anymessage from me. I also asked when we originally spoke about the groupon and she told me not to worry they would always honor that. I was also told by her that they are out on the field and do not have time to sit and answer calls which is utterly ridiculous. THE groupon is buy 250.00 and receive 500.00 worth of tree service. I did read in the reviews that they come right in the middle so the groupon is really null and void" and sure enought the estimate was. 400.00. I told her that she would not only lose my business and many more with this fake add. her response to me was I doubt it we are booked for 8 weeks. It was not a pleasant experience!!

They do not service my area. The reasons they gave me was that they didn't want to waste their time and gas to come down and do the work. I did not appeacite this at all.

His price was pumped up to reflect the coupon. Two others had a significantly lower estimate. He also took a while to get back to us. We have no idea if he does good work but we wouldn't want him to work for us under the circumstances.
