Pell's landscaping were awesome! They returned our calls quickly then came out to assess the work and we had a quote within a few days. The quote was very reasonable and we used the Angie's list coupon. They told us that they would come out and do the work a week after we accepted the quote but they coordinated an earlier time which made us very happy. The men were punctual, courteous and did a very nice clean job. We would definetely go with them again.

A job very well done. Crew cut down and took away the big tree with no problem, and they did a very through job of grinding away the stump - even though it was in a rock-lined pit - and they were meticulous about removing all the chips and debris. Cost was lowest of the quotes we obtained.

Tree branches were dropping on my roof and all over my perennial garden. The tree was pruned far beyond the scope of the contract. They have not compensated me for damages to my damaged perennials. Although days later after my repeated phone calls and emails the company owner came to my house to talk to me it was clear he was not going to do anything. I ended up walking back into my house prior to losing my temper.

From start to finish it went perfectly. They told me the price, told me when they were coming and they held to their word. I could even use an Angie's list purchase discount. I can not sing their praises loud enough. Hugh job and the kept it neat and orderly the whole job. Their competitors were all glitz and videos these guys just do what they say they will at a reasonable price.

.They came out with and made and estimate within a few days. I had purchased through Angie's list so there was a $500.00 credit involved. They made an appointment promptly to get the work done and did it to my complete satisfaction. I have already recommended them to friends.

I can't say enough great things about John and his team's responsiveness. I was faced with a tree that had fallen on my mom's home and I called at 6 AM that morning based on Angie's List reviews and his office was back in touch with me before 7 AM, it might have been even earlier than that. Within an hour, John and his team were out on the property to assess the damage, remove the tree and even recommend another provider for roof repairs - who was also fantastic. John's team was extremely thorough and cleaned up everything meticulously. When John came back to assess the other trees on the property, he took over an hour of his time to explain why he recommended the service work on the trees - again, very thorough and patient. On a personal note, I am grateful for John and his team for being so responsive (and kind) when we were in an emergency situation, he has earned our family's business just based on that alone. Thank you.

It was really good. They did a nice job. They cleaned well. They cleaned up after themselves. They moved my furniture. They entertained my five year old son who was amazed by all their equipment. The owner came out. I had a time and he took an estimate. He made sure everything was OK and then he had set up a time for his crew to come out. The work was good. My interaction with them was fine. I've got other estimates and their price was good.

AWESOME is the best way to describe John Pell's service. He and his team with his state of the art equipment were worth an afternoon of entertainment. His people were courteous and hard working. John is a delightful and diligent young man and knows how to run a business. Having been a teacher I would give him an A+++ for a job well done.

It was a totally professional, very well done job by Pell's. I thought the work was superb and they were very flexible as we discussed job/price options. Once we finalized the price and job, the Pell's team came by the next day (early, in fact, which I loved) and very efficiently and methodically removed a pretty gnarly cherry tree, cleared brush and cut some evasives that were along our fence. The workers (4 in all, I believe) were all very cordial and got right to work. I left to run a few quick errands, thinking I would see them when I returned, and they had already left. Well done, Pell's! We'd absolutely use your services again.

Buyer beware! Pell Landscaping's "$250 for $500 worth of tree service" deal may be a good deal if your job is estimated at over $500 but it turned out for me to be no deal at all. The People- I will say that John and his office manager Christi at Pell Landscaping were responsive, helpful and overall easy to work with. Christi was exceptionally delightful and patient, as well. When the work was done, the Pell crew did a wonderful job and I was quite satisfied. But I am not happy about the cost or how the job is estimated. The Big Deal - I had a number of projects ranging from small to large that required the services offered so when John came out to assess the scope of the work, he agreed to provide a proposal with line items so I could choose what work I wanted to have his crew complete. My dissatisfaction with this deal is that the smallest jobs were quoted at $400 each while the remaining jobs were quoted at $800 and higher. It became very obvious that there would be no way I was going to get to the $500 threshold to make the 'deal' benefit me. Therefore, in addition to the $250 I paid for "the big deal" for $500 worth of work, I was billed $400 (ie, the estimate), bringing the final cost to $650 for the Pell crew to remove three brush piles. This was also after I'd informed Pell 5-10 days before they started the job that I'd been adding brush to the existing brush piles, thinking that this change in scope would now meet the $500 threshold. I cannot help but feel deceived about cost. Why? Although the small print clearly stated that the job must be $500 or more to qualify for the $250 for $500 worth of tree service, John as the estimator can estimate any job to his advantage. In the end, I know I could have had someone else come in to remove these brush piles for much less than the $650 I ended up paying Pell to do it. Because I don't think this type of situation is limited to Pell, since any number of big deals posted on Angie's List appear to be structured similarly, I'll end my review with my opening words ... "buyer beware".

Went very well. Due to other work at the same time at another site completion was delayed for some time. Excellent job of clean up

Pell's workers did an excellent job removing the tree and grinding up the stumps. They even suggested spreading the stump grindings on the garden and on low spots in the back so that I did not have to pay extra to remove grindings. They also removed several branches on another tree even though I forgot to mention them in the estimate. The small tractor they used to remove the large limbs and trunk did create some tracks in the lawn and I wasn't aware that they were not responsible for reseeding. I think most of the grass recovered on its own.

I joined Angies List and purchased a deal from Pells Landscaping and Tree service..$250.00 for $500.00 worth of tree services. Both dates were on March 2, 2015. Pells was supposed to contact me within 2 days and did not. I called them and Kris in the office said that they would get back to me to schedule a date for an estimate. So, they never contacted me for 3 weeks. I called them one more time and emailed them once. Still, nothing. I contacted Angies list and they emailed Pells. Nothing. On March 25th, I called the office again and Kris was very apologetic and said that she would get the estimater out to my place and get the estimate to me the very next day. In the process of all of this, she told me that the estimater lived in my area. On March 26th, Kris did call me and she said that she had bad news for me...her estimater told her that it took him 45 minutes to get to my home and that they don't have any other work in my area..so they would have to charge me $700.00 for the job! But wait, she gave me a name of a more local tree service company who is on Angies List.......maybe they could help you..she says. And the kicker was that she asked that I don't give them a bad review on Angies List!!!!! I was shocked! Now, they knew my address and my contact email and phone number. If you don't want to travel that far, then just tell me right away. I could have gotten someone else sooner. I contacted Angies List right away and let them know this and then contacted Liberty Tree and Landscaping Management in Glenside, Pa and between the office gal and the estimater, I had the estimate and the job was done on Friday morning by 9 am. Date being Friday March 27th....Liberty made it all worth while and I highly recommend their business and unreal services!

They came out and gave us an evaluation but didn't end up doing the work.

Great work. Good people. Professionally done. Just wish they'd done a better job fixing the lawn where they tore it up.

two week delay in service -supervisor was elder gentleman who had a stoke while on the job- initially only one worker cutting tree with no clean up help so myself and a neighbor where helping while the supervisor was suffering with a stroke-I found out later that there was another shredding truck and more workers sitting in a nearby parking lot waiting to be called into the job by the supervisor who never spoke to me while I asked him questions as soon as they arrived on the job before he had the stroke.I have cancer and a hiatal hernia so I should not have been dragging large tree limbs to the shredder located in the street a distance from the back of the house.They arrived two hours late and it grew dark and the job was not complete and one of the other workers arrived(all Spanish speaking from Ecuador I think) and called in the foreman who apologized for the havoc and called an ambulance for the gentleman who turned out to be th receptionist's uncle. I spoke to the owner on the phone at this point who became hostile to me after I advised him that my neighbor (middle aged gentleman who was helping with the clean up stated that he smelled alcohol on the supervisor's breath when he had to help him up as at one point the supervisor had tripped on a tree stump and fallen down before his stroke(I was told by the receptionist later that he had the stroke.Meanwhile, The owner in anger stated on the phone with me that he may or may not return the next day to finish the job.I called him back after finding out from the foreman that other workers where available as the owner had argued with me about them being on the job and now had also been advised by the foreman that I had no idea of their existence and the owner advised that he would finish the job the next day. So, early the next morning the foreman arrive with a crew but began hostile about the work already completed as he felt it was too much -this was the person who the night before was very apologetic about the situation.So, he called his boss and stopped being argumentative and finished the job.The supervisor the night before never gave any instructions to hos workers on the work to be done. I received a bill for an additional $300 beyond the $250 I had paid Angie's List.When I spoke to Kristi Journey, the receptionist and she sent an estimate for $800 I had called her and she stated that the $$500 would still be subtracted so I thought $500 from $800 would be $300 and I would consequently owe the additional $50 from the $250 I had already paid,I ended up paying $ 550.I voice my upset about the cost and the job to no avail.

They did an exellent job of removing a tree that was too close to the house with the possibility of branches falling on the house doing an ice storm or a good wind. After doing the job they cleaned up behind themselves. This was my second time using this company. I was very statisfied with their work and would definitely used them again and recommend them to my friends.

I can certainly can see why Pell Landscaping and Tree Service receives such high ratings on Angie?s List. I would definitely give them an A+. John Pell came out and evaluated all our trees and gave a very fair price. His team then came out and pruned all of our trees, removed one of our trees that was becoming dangerous and also did a neighbor?s tree at the same time. Fun to watch such skill at work. Job really well done and they did a good job of clean up. We plan to make Pell Landscaping and Tree Service our permanent arborist. Wish we had found them four other arborists ago. John Pell is an exceptionally professional arborist. He knows what trees need and is careful to take care of them. If you want someone to come in a whack off your trees to a certain size, Pell Lancscaping is not for you. The office was very accommodating with questions and concerns. John Pell, himself, came out to talk about my trees. This is the company if you want good care for your trees.

Terrific!! The estimator, John, came when scheduled, sent his estimate, which seemed reasonable. They showed up on time, accomplished the work efficiently and left no mess. All were pleasant and courteous. We'd definitely use them again!
