While we didn't end up having the work done, John Pell was great to work with. He was professional and persistent over the phone, and was very helpful and kind in person when giving us an estimate. We appreciated our contact with him.

I never received a call back from them when I called to schedule a date for an estimate.

They were very professional and try to get me the service but it's to far and informed me step by step

We got them from Angie's List. They were excellent. Their knowledge of horticulture and the trees, plants and shrubs and what works with what stood out for me. With regard to price, they were a little high for what they did. We really didn’t have a whole lot of pruning to do, it was just up high. We went with two estimates. They were a little bit higher, but I just liked their knowledge better.

Please pay attention to their coupon 250$ for 500$ service. That doesn?t mean that you can let them do any size of work using this coupon. For example, when they estimate, for those work not big, they keep the quote lower than 500 as possible so that you cannot use the coupon. You think maybe I can add some work to reach the minimum requirement (500$) or above. Then they will tell you they don?t take coupon on those revised proposals. Overall, they just try to find all kinds of reason to refuse you to use coupon in those work in which, their profit may not reach the maximum! What they care is not the customer. THEY JUST CARE BIG SIZE WORK TO MAKE MORE MONEY!!! They set so many conditions on that coupon but not indicate in the coupon details, which just waste my time!!

I ordered a certificate from Angie's list for $500.00 of tree service for $250.00. Unfortunately, due to serious illness, I was unable to arrange for this service. Pell's Landscaping was most understanding. They advised me to contact them when I was able to schedule an appointment. John provided me with two estimates for work I was considering. I decided to have my very large magnolia trees trimmed. I was not home when the service was performed. When I returned home, I was pleased with the work, but there was one large branch that always caused concern during storms. I called John and he told me he would send someone out tp review the problem. He did, and they removed the large branch. They were polite, courteous and very neat. I would not hesitate to call John again for additional services.

From the scheduling to the work by the crew, everything was professionally done.

Returned message promptly and a visit was scheduled for an estimate. The estimate was reasonable. We wanted the wood cut into fireplace size pieces - a service that Pell's did not offer so we chose a different company. Will consider them again for other landscape jobs.

Perfect!!!! Arrived about 4:30 and were all done by 6:30 INCLUDING clean up. Guys were amazing. One climbed up the giant ash in the front yard....has to be 100+ feet tall and very casually manuevered from branch to branch...trimming as he went. Scared the pants off me!!! Other got on roof to trim pine and holly. How he got up there, I have no idea?? MAGIC???? Others hauled away the branches and raked everything up. Was quick and professional. Would definitely recommend them any time.

I am very pleased with the work completed by Pell's yesterday. Almost half of my back yard was not usable space because it was overgrown with ill-placed shrubs & plantings from the previous owner. multiple tree stumps were there as well as years of leaf & branch accumulation. In one day Pell's came in & cleared the whole space, assessed the health of the current shrubs & relocated the healthy ones to a new location creating more lawn/play space as well as improved screening at the back of my property. They also cut down & removed several smaller trees that were dead or badly damaged from the ice storm. In short, the yard looks great -- as good or better than expected. Prior to the work starting they were prompt in returning my initial call & came out pretty quickly to scope the work & write a quote. I got 3 quotes for the job & they were the right in the middle based on pricing. They were actually able to start the work earlier than originally planned & called to give me a heads up which I appreciated. I was also please that before they left they did a nice job of straightening up -- given all of the equipment they had to use & the ground was still wet from rain & I was kind of expecting to see other grass torn up/ driveway caked in mud but was not the case. Was not home when the majority of the staff was working but the foreman Chuck was still there when I arrived home & he took the time to walk me though everything that was done as well as some tips to maintain the look. Again, very pleased & will recommend/use Pell's in the future.

The Pell team arrived as scheduled, assessed how they would attack the work needing to be accomplished, and immediately went to work. Each of the 5 men knew their role in the project, understood our concern about lawn disruption and driveway damage and, as requested, were meticulous about clean-up when the job was done. I paid for this service to be performed. The Vendor does not service my area. I hope they are not graded negatively for this as they did communicate within the time allotted and wrote a nice letter apologizing and told me request a refund from Angie's List. Angie's List needs to make obtaining a refund easier. I emailed them, no return email. I called (angie's list) and left a message 24 hours ago, no return phone call. I called them again, they attempted to request that I purchase another deal. Then I have to fill out this form to obtain my money back... Not at all friendly and is a giant waste of my time.

Large team of men came and very efficiently removed the tree and cleaned up afterwards. The cost was OK considering I had purchased a "big deal," but I think I could find more affordable tree work. Took quite awhile to get them to find time in their schedule, but I guess that's the norm this year after all of the ice storms and such.

It went very well. It was the second time I had contacted them for a quote. And both times their price was the best. I had postponed the work the first time due to unrelated reasons. So when I did call them to start the work, everything went well and better than expected in terms of the quality of the work, punctuality, etc. For example, they even cleared some debris that had not been visible to the eye during quoting (fallen branches under leaves). Also, as a salesperson, John is not pushy at all. He will recommend things to you, most of which will make perfect sense, but they will not be pushy at all, unlike some other companies in the business who will try to scare you for additional business (oh, that large tree is about to fall upon your house). Overall, a very positive experience. I would highly recommend their services.

After they came and did an estimate for the work & we bought the big deal, they told us they were 3 weeks out for scheduling. We were disappointed because we were hoping to have the work done sooner than that, but we waited, and I'm glad we did. We communicated through email, and I was provided professional quotes and invoices. On the day of service, they arrived with very professional tree equipment and a whole crew. They did the work quickly and safely, and to a very high standard. There was some confusion over the scope of the work, but I was able to pull out my original contract and show the foreman and he immediately did that portion of the work without complaint. I am VERY impressed with the quality of the work they did, and the professionalism of their tools, trucks, and equipment. Overall, it was a good value for the money & I was pleased with the service. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

He came out to do an estimate on the tree grinding and when he showed up it was dark, so he used a spotlight/flashlight. The appointment time was supposed to be at 12 noon. He said he would send me the proposal within 24 hours and he did not get it to me, even when I emailed him multiple times. I no longer wish to work with this company and will be getting my refund for the deal.

Job went very well. There was a need for a quick touch up after the initial work was completed, but it wasn't a hassle. John's extremely knowledgeable and very easy to work with. It's a pleasure to work with a mellow contractor who knows what he's doing and takes his profession seriously. We will definitely use him again.

Not happy with lack of communication, when crew never arrived.On work date crew arrived almost 4 hours beyond time explained Work completed was not satisfiactory, they crushed 75 percent of Hostas around tree. I told them I would remove them. Crew chief said only remove a section. Clean up was fair, just blew wood chips onto grass and area where stump was ground out. I cleaned the yard and driveway.

had to come twice because the price was higher than we expected but when they came the work was done in a very professional manner. they cleand up when they finnished and they were very polite. they were in that tree from 8:30 am until 4:00 in the afternoon. I was very satisfied with their work

When we had all of the snow this winter one of our trees dropped large limbs on our house. We called John and he came right out and removed the limbs as well as trimmed the tree because limbs were dangerously hanging over the house. A few weeks later the ice storm hit and my tree split down the middle. John brought his crew on a day that it was snowing to remove the tree before it could do any more damage to my house. The work was completed on time and done as he told us it would be. He had to bring out a crane to get the tree out so we went ahead and had him remove many other tall pine trees. It was a huge job and it went very well. The ground was frozen and the yard was full of ruts. When the weather changed and my yard thawed out, I called John and he came out and grated it to be flat. I will definitely use his service for future tree trimming needs.

We learned about Pell's after reading some nice reviews on Angie's List. We then hired them over another company after meeting the owner, John. He was professional and accommodating, and the communication was easy. We had confidence that Pell's would deliver and stand by their work. The coupon helped, as well. Now, on to the job. Talk about efficiency! The crew showed up when promised, took down 8 very large white pine trees (approx 50'), chipped the branches, removed all debris, ground the stumps, and even leveled the area. The entire job was completed - start to finish- within 7 hours. It used to take me that long just to sweep the pine needles! I can't even believe how clean the area looks now. Pell's has the knowledge, equipment and manpower to get the job done. Thank you for a hassle-free experience. And I wouldn't have found them without Angie's List! Note: I was hoping to ask them what type of privacy trees I should plant in the cleared area, but didn't get the chance.

Overall, the job went well. John was very responsive from start to finish, including the initial call to schedule an estimate, follow-up calls to discuss pricing and status, modifying the scope of work, scheduling the work, and following up to complete the job. I was impressed with how well he kept me informed of our job status. Even when he was running late for an appointment or thought he might be running late he called to let me know. This should be expected, but so many contractors are very inconsiderate about a (potential) client's schedule and don't always bother to call when they will be late or that they may need to reschedule so I really appreciated that John did. Also, it was a really busy time because pretty much everyone in a 5-mile radius of us needed tree work done after the storm so I know he had lots of appointments and lots of work to manage at the time we hired him and I felt like he did a good job managing our project and giving us a realistic time frame to complete the work. We spoke with three different tree service contractors, including one we had been using for years in a prior residence. John gave us a fair price compared to the other contractors (especially considering the Angie's list coupon that we purchased). We selected John based on his responsiveness (as mentioned above), fair pricing, and his experience/background in the service area we needed. Overall we were happy with the job his crew did at our house. The limbs and trees were removed as expected. He had another crew come back later to grind the stumps and remove a remaining limb from the other side of our property. The only reason we did not give Pell's an A-rating is because our yard was not left in very good condition after the job. Our yard was left muddy with ruts in some places. Granted, I have not had a chance to mention this to John and based on previous experience with him I do think he would correct it given the chance and I will update my review accordingly if/when this issue is corrected. But still, it was kind of surprising that our yard would be left as it was by a "landscaping" company.
