In May of 2016, Tom Hawkins, (who ironically lived about 6 houses away from me in a rural community) contacted me and asked to come over to see what I wanted done. He was pleasant, and professional, and seemed very knowledgeable. He gave me a Veterans and Patriots Contracting business card, and returned a few days later with an estimate for my work on a V & P letter head page. He told me he would be doing this work on the "side" and that I should not let his boss know how much he was charging me for this work, because he was giving me a ridiculously low price for the job ($2500). I chose and purchased my tile, and new vanity, and linen closet at Lowe's. He began the work, painting, and laying the floor tiles, on the w/e. Because this is a one-bathroom house, I had arranged to have him start ripping out the fiberglass tub, and building the tile shower when my neighbor was on a vacation and I would be caring for their cats 2X a day, and they had agreed to let use use their shower at that time. At this time the work progressed to 8-4, M-F, for approx 1 week. He had another V & P contractor who was learning, and in training, to assist him for a few days. I did not watch over what he was doing, since I trusted him. I would give him $500 after a few days of hard work, and on the friday he was almost "finished" he requested another $500 so he could "make payroll." At this point, the shower appeared to be completed, but there were still some plumbing and electrical issues he needed to address to complete the project. About a week after he said we could use the shower, I heard dripping in the basement while I was doing laundry (shower was directly above the unfinished floor in the laundry room). The area around the drain was leaking and the flooring was getting saturated, we had to put buckets beneath the area. I called him, no answer back. Then the floor boards, for the entire length of the shower started to become saturated and were dripping a few days later. We had to stop using the shower. I had been calling and texting Tom Hawkins SFC Ret, for days, and he did not reply. My texts became frantic and included pictures of the leaking and soaked underbelly of the new shower that he had installed. Finally at my wits end I called his boss, co-owner DD, who immediatley came out to see what my complaint was about. DD was helpful and agreed to contact his insurance company, but at that time he informed me that TH was acting on his own, and not working with the V & P Contracting Company. I am now unable to use my shower, a week or 2 passed and I got another contractor to come in to help me figure out what was wrong with this new shower. We made the difficult decision to remove the shower floor, where we found black mold growing, and the lack of a liner, which is essential in a tile shower. We found leaks behind the wall where the plumbing was connected to the shower head and handles. These pipes were leaking in 3 or 4 places and it needed to be completely replaced. The plumbing inside my new vanity also had a slow leak and I now have water damage in the new vanity. The grouting around the porcelein tile in the shower was filled with tiny holes, the floor of this new shower held puddles of water. The shower door did not fit correctly, and scraped the frame work. Tom Hawkins took my money and he ran, despite living a few houses away, he has so far avoided all responsibility in regards to the claim I eventually had DD file for me with his Contractors Insurance thru V & P Contractors. Tom Hawkins was immediatley terminated from this job and is no longer employed or associated with Veterans and Patriots Contracting. His associate, however, has gotten the raw deal. In claiming my bathroom to his insurance, he is no longer able to get Contractors Insurance despite the fact that Tom Hawkins is no longer employed thru them. DD is no longer able to obtain work, despite being an excellent contractor, and an honest human being. DD has ended up losing his entire business, thanks to Thomas Hawkins, and is now considering bankruptcy. Thomas Hawkins, on the other hand, refuses to atone for anything he has done, and is still doing. He has ignored all responsibility, and will soon leave the area of Lower Mt Bethel Township, PA, to scout new hunting grounds for his next victim. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN, HE IS SCUM OF THE EARTH. He drives a white pick up truck, possibly a Chevy, with gold 4 X 4 lettering on rear of vehicle. Pa plates ZFH-2854. Currently plates, inspection, and insurance are all not up to date. Thank you and beware! I have many pictures and will be happy to share them....
Description of Work: I was looking for someone to remodel my bathroom (linoleum floor, fiberglass tub, etc) to an open tiled shower with tile floors. Rework some electrical wiring, and to conform some plumbing to accomadate a different size vanity. A friend recommended Thomas Hawkins SFC Ret., a retired army veteran who was currently working with Veterans and Patriots Contracting, out of Nazareth PA 18064.

Description of Work: Cut down a large blue spruce tree. I reviewed this company previously in 2014, so I don't remember the exact date or the price, but they did an excellent job and a great cleanup afterwards.

Description of Work: The company was removing trees from another yard in the neighborhood, so we asked for a quote to remove a large dead pine tree. The figure was very reasonable. The job was done quickly and professionally. They had all of the equipment necessary and did an outstanding job. The stump was ground up and all of the debris was removed. I certainly would recommend this company to anyone for a completely professional job. The workers were courteous and worked quickly and carefully. The owner supervised all aspects of the job.

We had a tree with two dead limbs, which hung over the neighboring driveway and needed removal. Since this company was removing trees from another yard in the neighborhood, we asked for a quote. The figure was not only surprisingly reasonable, it also included the complete removal of another damaged/dying tree on the property as well. The owner (Robert Hennessy) said, and quot;Don't worry, I'll take care of you.and quot; And, he most certainly did. They had all of the equipment necessary, and they did the job quickly, courteously and professionally. They also ground out the stump and removed all of the debris. Two worrisome problems were solved, quickly and at a bargain price. The experience, from beginning to end, was one of politeness, professionalism, and peace of mind. We recommend this company, without reservation, to anyone.
Description of Work: Removed two dead limbs from one tree and removed another tree entirely.
