Lucas Ltd

When our in house sewer pipe developed a leak ,we contacted Lucas for an estimate. Steve arrived as scheduled ,did a thorough examination of the area and gave us a few repair options and estimates. We decided to have Lucas do the work and scheduled a repair call for a few days later as we had a bathroom that was functional and it was not an emergency. Steve returned on time and went right to work. The repair was in a place that was not easily reached but he persevered until the jobwas done. He explained what he had done and cleaned up the area before writing a detailed description of the work. He was friendly and professional as everyone we have dealt with at Lucas has been. We received a thank you in the mail as well as a survey from Lucas within a week. Overall, our experience was very good.

Arrived promptly and looked the situation over. Gave a verbal quote and started the project. Had all needed replacement parts with him, even a new holding tank. Took all refuse and old equipment with him, leaving the area in excellent condition. The final cost was below the verbal estimate. Wonderful experience!

We called them to schedule an appointment, and they were at our home in no time. They respected our home, and made sure they wear shoe covers while in our house. Very soon they figured what the problem was, and fixed it. They did not try to overcharge, and were very honest in their assessment. They even came back to our place and gave us the Angie's list $25 discount which we completely forgot to take advantage of. Great guys! Will call them again when needed.

I called and was able to make an appointment for the next day. Technician arrived early and easily accomplished the task within one hour minimum. I used Angie coupon to save $25 as this was my first time using this company.

They gave me an accurate quote and a few times to choose from. They were running a little late so we rescheduled for the first thing the next morning and they were right on time. My removal was not the easiest but they took care of it with no hassle.

Lucas Ltd will be our go-to for any plumbing job from now on. Working with the office with scheduling, quotes, etc. was extremely easy. When the original quote for the entire job came back higher than we wanted to spend, they revised the quote with different options. The work crew got everything done in one day (wow!) and everything was neat and clean when they left. We are really pleased with the job that Lucas did and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to someone else. We will definitely call them again.

I am very pleased. On 10/10/12 I called to replace the water heater in my house that was going bad. I had researched and requested a specific new high efficiency model by the same US mfr, Bradford White. The specific model is shorter to fit my utility closet under the stairs. Of the 5 calls I made, this was the only company that had live answer with someone to talk to me about the product and installation when I called. First Christina asked me about the hot water usage in my house to verify the size of water heater I requested. Christina then checked to see if they could order the specific model I wanted, called me back and then double checked with the supply house with additional questions I had to be sure it was equipped as I wanted. She was very tolerant of my level of information which was anything but expert about water heaters and my concerns I had made the proper choice. By mid-morning the same day, I had an accurate quote and an appointment for the installation on 10/12 and the specific replacement high efficiency model was ordered by Lucas Ltd. Mechanic Jorge arrived as expected on 10/12/12, removed area rugs and laid down a cloth to protect the wood floor between the front door and the utility room. He shut off the power, drained the existing water heater, disconnected the plumbing and removed the old water heater. Even though it was the same mfr, the plumbing connections had to be redone on the new unit which was a little bit taller -- and which he accomplished with new copper pipe instead of adapting the old that was in place. He upgraded the electrical connection to the unit as well. It was ok with him that I watch him work. He was friendly, took great pains to be sure my lab dog was secured so she wouldn't get out when he came and went out the front door. He also let me know when he was going to shut off power and water so I could be prepared (shut down computer in case it happened to be on the same circuit, draw water if I wanted some right away, etc.) When the install was complete and work area cleaned up, he gave me instructions on how to annually drain about 5 gallons of water from the new unit so it would last longer. He estimated it would take him about 2 hours to do my job but I think it actually took closer to 2 1/2 hours. He worked steadily and exhibitted a good work ethic. In conversation he also let me know about Lucas Ltd and other plumbing services they could do for me if I was interested or if I didn't already have another plumber. His manner was very workmanlike, informative and helpful, not hard sell. He took pride in the appearance of his finished work even though it was in a utility closet. When it came time for the bill he asked me if I had the Angie's list coupon since I had mentioned to him I located Lucas from Angie's list. He deducted the $50 coupon from the $977.40 price I had been quoted for total of $927.40 as I expected. He reminded me about the 6 year manufacturer warranty and 1 yr workmanship warranty Christina had told me about on the 10th. He gave me an idea how long it would take for the water to heat to temperature after the power was turned on to power the new waterheater. Later that day I checked the hot water temperature at my kitchen faucet and it was exactly the temperature recommended by online sources to be hot enough but not so hot as to do damage to children or older people, or to waste energy. No adjustment needed. I can't think of anything this company or this mechanic could have done to make this a better experience. I was unable to get other quotes for this particular service or tank, but believe it was a reasonable charge for the Bradford White HE short unit I requested and the work done. About the other 4 providers I called before I called Lucas because Lucas is located farther away from my house..... One called me at the end of the day 10/10 to say he didn't do work in my state (I live near the state line). I thanked him for the courtesy of calling me. The other 3 never called at all. I consider myself lucky to have found Lucas Ltd. I also want to mention that this was not an emergency call, yet they responded very quickly to accomodate time I had to be available at home for the installation on 10/12.

They get right to the problem, and are reasonable.

The workmanship was excellent, and the serviceman was professional. The price was as quoted over the phone and was resonable considering the emergency nature of the problem.

He did the job quickly and efficiently (unplugged one toilet, installed a new flushing system in another). Easy.

They are very efficient, on time, and totally reliable. They know everything there is to do with plumbing.

On thursday , I noticed a loss of water pressure and ticking noise coming from well (inside house). Water was discolored. I went on Angie's List and found 2 providers who recently did work in my area. I called both providers on Friday morning around 9 am, Christine answered the phone for Lucas, I explained my situation stating it was not an emergency. She put me on hold and then said she had a tech available that afternoon between 2-3 pm. Around 1:30pm I recieved a call from Christine stating the tech was available and could be there shortly if that was ok with me. I said that was great. Steve arrived approximately 20 mins later. I explained the situation to him and showed him where the well and Water conditioning systems where located. He was able to identify the problem, and fixed it immediately. It was a part that was just recently replaced 3 months ago. However the part was not new.The whole procedure took about 2 hours. I was extremely impressed. It was a very pleasent experience. I will definitely use them again!! I have more plumbing work to be done.

I had Lucas Plumbing install an outdoor spigot in June of 2011. After disconnecting the hose from the spigot for the winter, I noticed the spigot was dripping. I called Lucas Plumbing and explained the issue. They sent a plumber out to take a look. The plumber was replaced the spigot and determined the old spigot to be faulty. Since the spigot was only installed 8 months prior to the service call, all work was covered under the 1-year warranty. It's nice to see a company stand behind there work and products. I also like the Lucas has appointments at 7am. This allows me to get work done before work and not have to take time off.

Joe came right on timebased on the appointment and was very professiona!. I would definitly use Lucas again in the future.

Joe came to give me an estimate and made some suggestions that made sense. A few days later I got the actual estimate and made arrangements for service. The service had to be pushed back a day as another job ran over. Rick came to do the work and came up with some great ideas. He was joined by Alex who seems very kind and knowledgable. Their work is excellent. I have great confidence in them.

J.W. was the plumber who recommended replacing the well couplings, jet assy., well seal, press switch, gauge, valves, adapters, clamps, etc. a page-long list of parts, etc. We trusted his expertise as an experienced plumber to suggest our best options, and gave him the ok to proceed. A few hours later, ALY(?) arrives on the scene, and seems surprised to see that we weren't having a new submersible pump installed. We said that Joe didn't suggest it to us. We knew right then this was a bad decision! The prices quoted were another $400-$500 on top of the already $2100. We called another plumber for a second opinion. This plumber's first question was the age of our pump, which was ancient, and not submersible...The next day we had the 2nd plumber install the submersible pump. We discovered that Lucas's prices were nearly double what a few other plumbers charged. Would not recommend Lucas!

It was Thanksgiving evening when the gas valve in our fireplace began leaking. Alex responded quickly and did a great job. He stated he could not charge us the "usual" holiday rate since it was a quick fix. We so appreciate Lucas having a 24 hr emergency service and for Alex helping us while missing out on his own holiday dinner. Highly recommend Lucas for any plumbing issues you may have.

Company was very responsive and helpful. A technician arrived at my house about 30 minutes after my initial call. He was extremely polite and knowlegable. He explained the cause of the leaks and made the appropriate repairs.

Owner of company gave estimate. He was very nice and answered all my questions in an extremely helpful and reassuring manner. The work was done professionally and to my satisfaction. Owner fulfilled all promises he told me during the estimate.

I would never use him again! He gave us an estimate, probably called him about a year later. When he did show up for the job he kept reinterring the fact that we had not decided to do this project for an entire year. It was really frustrating! I had them park in front of my house due to my dog and also because the water tank would not fit through the back door. They were so mad at me for making them park out front! The owner informed me when I brought up an issue with him, that he would pull the job if I did not like how he was doing it. Turns out they did not install a large enough water tank for our well which now causes it to run constantly.

My 23 yr old house was making strange noises (mechanical cranking and wind blowing like a whistle or bird) that sounded like it was coming from the ventilation or plumbing system. I wasn't sure where it was coming from. I had recently replaced my roof & siding installed a few months earlier, so I wondered if it was connected. However, I felt strongly that it was the plumbing pipes since the noise continued even when my HVAC system was turned off. I had the company who installed the roof & siding (WG who did an outstanding job!) to come & investigate. Nothing was found. So, working with the gas company I ruled out the possibility that it was a gas pipe pressure problem. That's when I called Lucas Ltd come out. The plumber's name was Ricky. Ricky was very pleasant, smart & professional. He listened carefully to everything that I told him about the noise. He listened, and seemed to know immediately what the problem was. It seemed that he simply wanted to confirm what the problem was before telling me. He checked the basement, the other bathrooms toilets, and the water pressure before diagnosing that my problem was indeed a water pipe problem related to low water pressure & flow from the municipality. He installed a valve near the incoming water source & the problem was fixed! I really like Lucas because I got service quickly & efficiently. Some of the other companies that I called still haven' returned my phone call. I hate that! It is really annoying to me when you call a company & you get an answering machine & they take days to get back to you-if at all. Lucas was not one of those companies & I really appreciate that. When I get answering machines when looking for a service provider, I keep calling companies until I get a real person on the phone who can at the very LEAST tell me when they can come out or if they're booked or not.

Our kitchen sink was clogged and backing up and not responding to my normal clean out approaches. After contacting Lucas Ltd, a plumber was dispatched and arrived within 30 minutes of my call. The problem was assessed quickly and steps were taken to rectify the situation. The "clogged drain" required a lot more expertise to correct, and I am satisfied that we chose the right professionals to accomplish a difficult task. The individual that performed the work was courteous, thorough and experienced. Overall a good customer experience. I would highly recommend this company .

My husband called in the morning and the company gave us a 1 hour window that they would be at the house later that afternoon. They arrived promptly and provided a great service. The source of the plug was identified (u-trap) and cleared out. They offered to run the snake down the rest of the line which my husband declined. However, a few days later when we had problems again we had them run the snake down the entire line to find out that the previous owner had spent years dumping grease down the drain. He took a lot of time to clean the drain out of the built up "fat" in the line and provided us with instructions on how to continue to clear the drain out. We also discussed doing the plumbing for the new kitchen sink and garbage disposal. We will definely calling back to arrange for them to do this work in the near future.

We had water seeping into the basement at my sister's house but could not determine if was from recent heavy rains or another problem. We called Lucas Ltd as she had used them once before and was satisfied with their work. I myself had no prior experience with this company. The technician that came (Alex) was courteous , professional and on time. He had even called to say that he was on his way. After determining that the problem appeared to be with the outside pipes, Alex called and set up a time for an estimator to come out the next day . (It wasn't an emergency for us, as my sister had made arrangements to stay elsewhere ). The estimator arrived as sheduled and turned out to be the owner, Joe Lucas. Joe was also friendly and professional and really did seem to go by his company's policy of treating the client's home as if it were his own home. He gave us a fair estimate of what it would cost and how much time it would take to solve the problem. As promised ,the crew showed up on time as sheduled along with Joe, who worked right along with them. The work was completed within the estimated time including cleaning up the basement work area. In addition, they hauled away a tree stump that needed to be removed to access the well and seeded and laid straw over the area of the front lawn that had been dug up. Joe was true to the estimate he originally gave and even accepted a coupon we presented. Overall, I would call these guys again in heartbeat for my sister or my own home repair/ plumbing needs. They were all friendly , professional , efficient and the price seemed more than fair considering the digging, time and equipment involved.
