The experience was very good. We've had the system a few weeks, so we have yet to see the full potential of the system -- but our meters in and out from the electric company, as well as the Enphase monitoring system show that we are doing as well as expected. Mark is very knowledgeable, and was very patient during the proposal phase - working with us on our concerns, and ensuring that we understood benefits, including the financial rebates. The good news is that the system was $27K, but with credits/rebates it actually came to much less. In terms of the installation, all went well. The electrician that Mark uses was very good. Things were left clean, and Mark was there for inspections and also to explain how to use the system. Bottomline - all went well, and we are happy. We hope others will consider solar, and Exact Solar.

I got the assessment but decided not to proceed.

We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for a solar panel installation proposal to heat our pool. The contractor assessed our property and developed various options for the project. Overall, I was not impressed with the professionalism, level of detail or the thoroughness of the plans. I understand that providing quotes is time consuming and involves cost, however, if a customer is willing to pay for the service, they should receive an "A" level response.

Thanks to the refunding of the PA state grant program, we finally decided to install solar PV on our home. We received quotes from three regional companies, all highly rated on Angie's List (where else!). While all three experiences were positive, Exact Solar stood out for us: Mark and Dara as a husband-and-wife team took a good amount of time to answer all our questions, and to assess our roof and our electricity needs in great detail. Their proposal impressed us with very reasonable assumptions for energy price inflation and all the other, small items where a provider could try to make their numbers look better than they actually are. It happened to be very competitive pricewise, too, but that wasn't the main reason why chose Exact Solar. Mark is obviously a skilled veteran in the business, and extremely knowledgeable. He obtained all necessary permits quickly and completed the work in 3 days. We liked the fact that he himself came out every day to perform the work - not a less experienced team of assistants. Mark and Dara's communication from start to finish has been great - they have always responded to calls and emails promptly, to this day. Our energy production has been a bit above prediction in these first few months, which is a nice surprise. We could not be happier with our decision!

Mark Bortman, the owner of Exact Solar, has been in the solar business since 2005, does only solar and is very knowledgeable about the technology and the vendors. Mark reviewed the system requirements, savings expectations, tax credits and expected start date with me before I signed the agreement - he patiently answered all questions and made sure I understood the process including installation of the panels, wiring by electrician and interconnection with PECO. He did the panel installation work himself with help from some assistants. Work began on agreed-upon date and completed on schedule. Waste materials were cleaned up at the end of each day. All the paperwork for state rebate, PECO connection, etc was initiated by Mark - all I had to do was sign. Mark kept me informed, through e:mail, on the status of the various phases of the project. System has been "on" for a few days and is generating electricity. Can't wait to get my PECO bill.

They were great. They gave me a good estimate, did not oversize it, gave me a better price than others, and they did the job quickly and efficiently.

This was a $50 special to have a solar consult for my home in Hellertown. I have a lot of trees on my property so I had a lot of questions for Mark, from Exact Solar. I've also done a lot of my own research on this and Mark was very knowledgable and professional. Turns out that one corner of my roof is pretty decent (86% compared to 100% or no obstructions). Mark also went over the various tax and utility subsidies, and the final cost to me for a 3kW system was very reasonable. I'm not in a financial position right now to pull the trigger on the project but when I am I would be very confident giving Mark my business.

They came when they said they would. They were professional and gave me what I needed. The price was too expensive.

Mark Bortman is the consummate professional. He was prompt, friendly, and very responsive to any questions and concerns we had. What we appreciated most about him was that he was conservative in his estimation of how much energy our relatively shady roof could produce. Another company promised rainbows and butterflies, but Mark said he would much rather we be pleasantly surprised than utterly disappointed. Everything from first meeting to final inspection went very smoothly. It was a pleasure to work with Mark and his team.

Mark was very professional and he provided a very useful assessment of the potential for using solar energy to heat water (this would be used to heat household hot water with the addition of a heat exchanger to warm the air entering the heating system). There was also information provided to assess the potential of a solar pool heater for our swimming pool. In the end, we decided not to go forward with the solar system at this time. It is still of great interest and something that I will reconsider in the future. I will definitely contact Mark for further dicussions when the time is right. One issue we have is the large number of very tall trees around our house -- this would limit the benefit from solar installation by blocking sun at certain times of the day. We enjoy the trees and they provide shade in the summer. Mark is very knowledgable and he provided a wealth of information. The detailed report he provided showing the benefits derived from solar throughout the year (taking into account the sun exposure in different months) was very helpful. Given the high electrical rates in the PA area (and greater need for AC / heat than I experienced living in San Francisco), I might consider the PV solar panels to provide electricity rather than solar thermal. The "efficiency" of converting solar energy is greater with solar thermal than with PV; however, I could potential derive a greater benefit year round with PV panels.

We were pleased with the information and the owners lack of pushing his product. We received competitive proposals and a willingness to work with us. We have since purchase a solar PV system from Exact Solar. Although it is too early to make a final recommendation, I believe this vendor will do a good job.

It all went incredibly well. I added an addition to my house, and I am paying less on my electricity bill right now than I did before the addition was built and had the solar panels installed. The addition onto my house nearly double the square footage of my house. The panels heat and cool the entire addition to my house as well as the other part of my house. I am still paying less on my electricity bill. Mark did exactly what he said he was going to do. He was very honest and easy to work with.

He is excellent, honest, open, thorough, and a pleasure to work with. He has fixed issues that were caused by other services providers. He even filled out grant paperwork for me and found me some great deals. There was a delay in the completion of the project, but he took responsibility and reduced the price accordingly.

He did a very good job. Mark sold it, installed it, and took care of the paper work. He gave us different options for panels and helped us with the selection. He was very polite and was always there when we needed something.

The experience was unique. It was an overall good experience. We met him at a home show. Mark did not have the best price but we liked him the best. We felt he was more honest that the other contractor we met with. The other gentleman padded things up a bit. Mark brought instruments with me to show how much shade and sun light we get, what problems we would face and what trees we should cut back. It was a great experience. His price was reasonable. The panels work! Mark would get back to you fairly quickly but would take a few days to answer emails. He would always call if he was going to be late. Mark is a good guy. He is going to do another solar job for us soon.

mark was very responsive, professional and his estimates were correct about production. We researched brands and he was able to give us the brand we asked for at the same price as other installers. He was not pushy and always came when he said he would. He helped with all the paperwork and has been available since to help with questions.

I hired Exact Solar Energy to install two 4x8 solar panels to supplement my water heating. The company consulted with me every step of the way, instantly returned phone calls and answered emails, showed up when they said they were going to, performed the work exactly as promised, and followed up with each and every outstanding detail without needing a single reminder. They exhibited pure professionalism every step of the way. I have never had an experience with a contractor as good as this. Exact Solar Energy is the model for what a contractor should be. Because of the work they performed, I am currently saving 20% on my electric consumption.

The work was completed in a professional and workman-like manner from start to finish, including an adequate cleanup at the completion of the work. Mrr. Bortman was responsive to my questions and professional with the Township officials. It should be noted that a minor glitch was discovered approximately 4 months after completion of the work; Mr. Bortman was on site the following day to fix the problem.
