+ -1 moreKen was great! He responded quickly to my request for a bid and was punctual and professional. He repaired a portion of my kitchen subfloor that had water damage and then laid down new vinyl floor (floating floor). In only a few hours, I have a new floor and it looks great! And he was very clean .... Cleaned up all trash and debris. His pricing was also very fair. We got several quotes and he was by far the most affordable. Great price, great work, and a nice guy! I highly recommend.
Description of Work: Repaired subfloor and installed new vinyl flooring.

+ 1 moreKen was wonderful. He was punctual, professional and did a great job. I purchased the supplies and Ken did the installations. He removed our old flooring which consisted of ceramic tile and carpeting and installed bamboo flooring. Were very happy with his floor install and then had him do our kitchen backsplash install. He did a great job with that as well. I will definitely use Ken again in the future.
Description of Work: Services included removal/installation of flooring in kitchen/family/dining rooms and installation of kitchen backsplash.

+ -1 moreKen was an excellent guy to work with, providing top notch work. He responded quickly and was at my house the next day for an estimate. Unlike a lot of the other estimates I got, Ken was impartial and not picky with the materials I used, allowing me to purchase the supplies that I wanted. Some of the people that sell and install floors can be very pushy, but not Ken since he?s not a salesman. He simply provided me with a materials list (sq foot needed, as well as linear feet for transitions and trim/quarter round). It couldn?t have been any easier. Overall, I would definitely recommend Ken and MQI to everyone looking to have flooring installed. He really delivered on everything that was promised, on time, and with no short comings or complaints from me or my wife. His pricing is the best I could find, and he didn?t have to sacrifice quality in the process. Two thumbs up!!
Description of Work: He removed 650 sq feet of carpet and vinyl, and replaced it with laminate, including new baseboard and quarter round throughout (the price above was for labor only). -All of the transitions are seamless, no scratches or problem areas are visible, All boards used are free of knicks and dents. -He was on time for both workdays (despite being the day after Christmas), completing the work in exactly the amount of time that he said it would take. -The amount of materials he calculated was perfect, with minimum extra material or waste. I had 1 extra box that we ordered just to be safe, which ended up being the only leftover material. -All of his cutting was done outside to save my house from a layer of dust, despite the rain/snow, which I really appreciated. -He was even able to move the larger furniture pieces by himself, without scratching any of the floors! I was definitely skeptical that one person could do it all, but he surprised the heck out of me

+ -1 moreHe didn't perform any services because he denied my request to come 10 miles away for a simple estimate. Very disappointing.
Description of Work: I found out through this company through Angie's List. I requested an estimate to replace vinyl sheet/roll on my kitchen floor. I started by navigating to his website,http://www.mathersflooring.com/. I was attracted to different things on his website, like the ability for a customer to purchase flooring materials online or through the store while he would provide the installation. The website also mentioned to schedule an appointment for a free estimate. I first began this by emailing him at ken@mathersflooring.com on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 1:41 pm. I did not receive a response from him and decided to call him on Wednesday approximately 10 am. I informed him that I sent an email that he had not responded to. He was perplexed and twice I confirmed his email address was the correct address. He then gave me an alternate email address to resend the original email that I sent to him on Monday. Therefore, I emailed both the email address on his website and the alternate one just after 10 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. I also sent an email inquiry through Angie's List. I finally received an email response from Ken on Wednesday, 9/21 at 8:32 pm. His email to me is as follows, "Sorry but that is a bit out of my area.. I dont typically head down that far." will also mention i live in Aldan, which is in Delaware County and no more than 10 miles and 25 minutes away from his location in Newtown Square. Also to note, his website mentions "Serving the southeastern Pennsylvania area." I am very disappointed by the lack of service he provided to me but I am elated to know I found this out before I entered in an contractual relationship with him.

+ -1 moreOverall job was excellent and I would certainly hire him again. He was very courteous, down to earth and professional.
Description of Work: $500 was spent on labor for Ken and another approx $600 on materials that he had us purchase at our local home store. He did laminate flooring on our kitchen floor which is approx 200 sq ft. It looks just like hard wood and he did an amazing job. He was in around 8 or 9 am and was out of the house by 1:30pm. I would definitely suggest hiring him to do a laminate floor job, especially since this is his area of expertise.

+ -1 moreI actually went through the local big box hardware store for the flooring purchase and installation. Ken was the contractor they hired to do the work. Had I known ahead of time what a good job Ken would do, I would have called him directly and probably would have gotten a better price (even though the hardware store's price was about half of the estimate that I had obtained from a flooring company). Ken was very personable and did a terrific job. He even ran my stereo wiring under the floor for me. He tidied up after himself and hauled all of the trash away. When I have laminate installed in the rest of the house, I will call him.
Description of Work: Carpet removal and laminate floor installation in living room, dining room, loft, and master bedroom.
