Mike got out to see the job and gave us an estimate promptly. His crew (including his son) showed up as promised and were very clean and efficient. He followed up to see if we were satisfied and promised to send the testing paperwork out as soon as possible.

When I called to schedule I got an appointment with in a week. They called me a few days before my appointment to say they could start earlier, which was great because I was in a rush to get the project started, They even removed a kitchen sink I had been unable to get out before their arrival. Friendly and courteous. They showed up on time, did a great job. there was no mess left behind. Great price as well I called several companies after I spoke with Michael. Other companies didn't include testing the air after work was performed.

All in all everything went great - our phone conversation was excellent and he even offered to allow me to send him a picture via text message so he could take a look.
Description of Work: I called Hometown Insulation as I had concerns about a project that I had regarding the removal of a wall and the possibility of asbestos insulation behind it. They answered the phone and were very friendly, polite, and forthcoming with information even though I was only looking to ask questions. The person I spoke with calmed my nerves about the drywall removal by giving me advice on what to do and how to proceed.

We were a bit lucky in terms of weather. The three work-days were very warm for Philadelphia, so we lost little heat. The men were dressed in and quot;spacesuitsand quot; and were thorough in sealing the furnace room before starting. Mike stayed with the original quote and we made prompt payment. If we were going to purchase a house again, we definety would have called this company before or at the closing. The seller should have reduced the price for us. (Hopefully, the reader will have a home-check before buying their next house.) So far as HomeTown Insulation, LLC, they prove that it is worth the price, which was very fair, for an Angie's and quot;Aand quot;. That furnace room is as clean now as when it was built in the late forties. (Owners should keep the receipts and lab clearance inside of their safe, in case they ever sell or their heirs need it to dispose of the assets of the estate.) Thanks, Mike.
Description of Work: Mike inspected the asbestos wrapped ducts, took pictures and was careful to check every possible place where the asbestos may be. He was very professional and very honest with my wife and I. The house was built in 1947 but we had not seen most of the fiber when we purchased the home in 2000. His crew professionally abated all fibers and the job included a 24-hour long filter machine and then an independent lab test and certification.

I really have nothing but good things to say about Hometown Insulation. Their price came in $400 less than the other company I considered. Both Mike (father) and Mike (son) were clear and professional on how the work was done and why. They set up the outside air testing and city inspections with no additional work needed from me. It was so easy, I was blown away. I had mastic under the tiles that were removed and I really appreciated their honest advice on how to see if it should be removed. I wanted to do an epoxy and had been getting conflicting information on if the mastic needed to be removed or not and if the concrete should be etched or not. Mike (father), suggested we do a test. They would remove th mastic if needed, or leave as is if it wasn't. They really had no interest in trying to sell me work that wasn't needed even if it would get them an extra $600. They just wanted the work done to the point I would be happy. Turns out the epoxy was just fine without removing the mastic. I can't tell you how much people keep trying to sell me and quot;add-on'sand quot; for my basement even though I have no desire to finish it out. I just want it clean and safe. That Hometown insulation didn't try to take advantage meant so much. I would definitely use them for any projects. My asbestos is gone, and I couldn't be happier. if I need any insulation or other work they do in the future, I will call them first! The only slight negative comment I would make is that it took longer than I expected to get the initial cost estimate. It was almost 4 days, when I had other estimates in hand within hours. But they were worth the wait!

We needed to have asbestos removed from our basement in a hurry, in connection with a home sale, with less than two weeks till closing. Michael fit us in as a rush job so that there were no delays in the closing. His staff were courteous and efficient, and he promptly provided us with the paperwork we needed for the buyer's mortgage company. At all stages of the process, he was courteous and professional, explaining exactly the work that would need to be done, and he got it done much more quickly than we thought was possible.

I contacted HomeTown Insulation based on all of the positive reviews on Angies List. I was pleasently surprised when Mike was able to come out that day to review the job. He explained their service and how they handle every step of the process. Mike told me that I would have a proposal by the end of the weekend and he had it to us on Sunday. I called him on Monday and they were on the job by Wednesday. His son (Mike Jr.) did the work with several other guys. Mike Jr. review everything that they were planning to do and I was very comfortable as they were very knowledgeable in the what was necessary for the complete removal. They took air samples that were submitted to a seperate lab for review. Throughout the entire project both Mike Sr. and Mike Jr. were extreamly responsive. I would highly recommend using them in the future. My wife is an Environmental Attorney and she was very impressed with the thoroughness of the job. She will be recommending HomeTown to her clients who need this type of service.

We hired Hometown to remove asbestos tile and mastic in our basement and perform a decent amount of demolition in the basement in preparation for renovating our basement. The demolition included tearing out the ceiling, removing studs and knocking down a concrete wall. Mike was our primary contact. His son and another employee performed the work. Everybody was responsive and answered our questions. We would use Hometown again and would recommend them.

I called Hometown Insulation after I had concerns with 9x9 tile in my basement. I called 6 different companies, and Hometown Insulation was the only one to come out that night at 7pm to inspect and give me an estimate. Mike came out and informed me of my options. Mike walked me through how his crew would seal off the basement, test the air, remove and dispose of the tile. He even said that I could in fact lay thinset over the tile which actually would not require his services. His honest and straight forward approach was very appreciated.

After reading that asbestos can be found in some kinds of drywall and joint compound, I became concerned about two areas in our house where previous owners cut large and quot;holesand quot; in the drywall to run plumbing. When I called Michael and explained my concern, he was happy to come out and offer his personal opinion. He returned my call promptly and was able to stop by the house the very next day. He could have taken advantage of the opportunity for business, but that was not the case. His opinion was that the likelihood of asbestos was very low and that he did not have a concern. I appreciated Michael's professionalism and the excellent customer service.

My wife and I purchased a 1959 single family home in Paoli that had what we knew were likely asbestos tiles in the basement. We wanted them professionally removed as well as the black mastic underneath. I received quotes from 5 different providers and Hometown had both the best price and the most customer friendly attitude. Michael was great throughout the whole estimate process and made me feel comfortable that his crew would do the job properly. The crew was professional from start to finish; very nice guys and respectful of our house. The entire process - from scheduling to the job to the final cleanup - was as smooth as could be. -- Highly Recommended --

We just closed on a house and were refinishing the floors and placing hardwood floors on the 3rd floor. Mid project we noted a black adhesive under the vinyl tile on the 3rd floor which our floor contractor cautioned could have asbestos. I left a message with Hometown Insulation at almost 5 pm and the owner, Michael Curran, called me back within 40 minutes and came out that same evening to obtain a specimen for analysis and provided us with a free estimate. During the 24 hour time around the lab analysis (both the tile and the adhesive contained asbestos) we obtained 3 more estimates and Michael Curran’s proposal remained competitive. More importantly, he expedited the job to keep us on track with our flooring project timeline and move-in date saving us additional money in the long run. We are very pleased with the quality and professionalism of this company and will absolutely use again for future remodeling projects.

Mike was very knowledgeable, professional, and accommodating. We originally planned to have our basement tile and mastic glue removed, along with the demolition of a bathroom with water damage. Mike provided a thorough review of different demolition options during the estimate appointment. Based on Mike's suggestion, we agreed to removing most of the basement walls, closets, and ceiling in our partially finished basement, as they were very old and we would want to replace them when eventually refinishing the basement. Although we ended up doing more demolition on our basement than we originally planned, I think it was the right decision and we did not feel that Mike pressured us to do anything more than we were comfortable with. Mike was very accommodating to our schedule. He agreed to start the work as soon as my house settlement was complete. The work was led by his son and it was started on schedule. Upon initial review of the completed work, I noticed a few minor issues that still needed to be addressed. For example, we originally agreed that he would seal up a space under a window, but it was not completed at the time of my review. Also, I felt that there were some spots of mastic glue remaining that I wanted removed. Mike explained that it is very difficult to pull up 100% of the mastic, even after several applications of the chemical solvent, but he agreed to do one more application of the solvent to the remaining mastic. The outstanding issues were promptly addressed and overall I think they did a very good job. I still see that there are some spots of mastic remaining, but they are small and should not be an issue as we plan to put new flooring over the cement floors.

After opening up a wall, I called Mike to check out what I thought was asbestos. He not only returned my phone call the same day, but came to my house to look at the wall as well. After looking at the material, we determined the material was not asbestos. Mike was honest and straightforward in his opinion, and placed emphasis on a factual analysis rather than attempting to drum up business. If I have the opportunity in the future, I would be happy to use this company.

Mike responded quickly to my inquiry and scheduled an estimate which was done for free. The estimate was quite detailed and specific. We were in a bit of a hurry to get the work done and Mike was kind enough to schedule us on a Saturday to help us out. The work was done thoroughly and professionally. He came out the day after the work was completed to take air samples and sent us all the final documentation without undue delay. Nice guy. Professional. Knows what he's doing.

The job was done professionally and met all expectations.
Description of Work: A heat shield containing some asbestos had been installed over the boiler. The area was sealed off, material was removed, and then the area was cleaned up. This was done with a significant amount of care and according to EPA standards. A test, by a third party laboratory, to assure that there was no residue was performed. While this material was encapsulated and posed no danger, Getting rid of the stuff eliminated any potential issue in the future.

After removing a rug from our family room after it flooded, we discovered asbestos tiles throughout. We not only needed the tacking strips removed from the perimeter of the room but since the rest of the tiles were intact, we wanted to go with the least expensive method and still be safe. We had several companies come out and give us an estimate and all wanted to do the whole room for upwards of $1,500.00. Just removing the tack strips was quoted as just a little under the price for the whole job. I got several names from Angies list, one of whom was Michael Curran's company, Home Town Insulation. After speaking to Mike on the phone I found him to be quite knowledgeable and pleasant. In addition, he returned my call immediately so I decided to go with his company. I was not disappointed. Mike came out, looked over the job, gave us a wealth of excellent information which allowed us to make the decision on how to go forward. He never pressured us in any way and was extremely honest, knowledgeable and polite. We opted to do the perimeter only and set up a time. His son and another worker were on time, polite, clean and pleasant sealed off the room and got the work done in a timely manner. They set up the exhaust system to run after they were finished and allowed it to run for 24 hours. The next day, Mike came and took an air sample, sent it to the lab and after it was deemed safe, he removed the equipment and the floor was sealed. I could not be more pleased with their performance and professionalism and I might add that even though I offered to pay the balance after the work was done, Mike refused to allow me to do so until the sample was back and clear. Probably one of the best contractors I have ever hired and I will recommend him to anyone who needed work done.

We had to remove the asbestos tiles in our basement after our water heater leaked and damaged many of the tiles. After searching through Angie's list, we contacted Michael Curran from Hometown Insulation. Mike came out, looked at the situation and explained what the procedure would be. He was very knowledgable and put a lot of my concerns to ease. Within a few days we received the estimate and found his price to be very reasonable. Once we were able to settle everything with our homeowners insurance, we contracted with Mike and he was able to start the work the next week (ample timing to clear out our basement). Mike and his son came out as scheduled to set up the work space and his son with other workers returned the next day to start the removal. Mike's team worked quickly and was done earlier than I had expected which was a pleasant surprise. The next day Mike returned to do the air quality test as well as inspect the work that was done by his team. Through his inspection he noticed some areas that needed improvement (with regards to the space where the black mastic glue was removed) and his son returned later that day to correct the areas. Overall we were more than satisfied with Hometown Insulation, from the work to the workers, and would definitely use them again should the need arise.
