Style-Rite Kitchens

Everything was great. They arrived on time and were done a day ahead of schedule. They cleaned up everything. The salesman (Jeff) that worked with us was fantastic.

I have a policy, that if you make an appointment ( at least a week in advance ) and then call me the day before to cancel for what ever excuse) I have no use for that type of business. That shows a lack of professionalism.

We have a galley kitchen and we wanted it gutted including taking some faux brick off the walls. We had a recommendation for Style-Rite and George Rotter in particular. We emailed George using their web site and he called within a few hours. He came to our house to look at the kitchen and to hear and see what we wanted. Mostly we wanted to replace what we had with some changes and updates. We have pets and wanted an area to put their dishes out of the way. We also needed the lighting in the kitchen changed. George was very knowledgeable and obviously very experienced. He listened to us and clearly understood what we wanted. He also had a few suggestions. George did up a design in about 2 weeks and we went to the showroom to review the design and look at their products first hand. The design was very nice and incorporated all of our needs. It was our first estimate so it took a while but we finally decided to go with Style-Rite. George impressed us with his expertise and the fact he was personally recommended to us and we could see the kind of work they did along with the estimate swayed us to go with them. George turned out to be excellent at helping us make the choices necessary to redecorate your kitchen. He noticed our dining room furniture and started us looking at cabinets that reflected the same styling so we had a starting point which was very helpful. He has it down to a step by step process. He said he usually works with a particular contractor and he would be available in August and the cabinets would be done by then too. In August the contractor Rick Parr called and we set up a date to start. He works on one project at a time, so except for things like the flooring which another company did once the cabinets were in place and our counter which took 2 weeks to come in (a quartz counter top) he was here every day. He was always on time and courteous. He has a lot of experience and was able to problem solve on the fly. He was also on top of any problems that came up – by the time we noticed them he had already started to resolve the issue. He did an excellent job. He installed our cabinets, added outlets, hung pendant lights and hooked up our new sink. He also took down a wall of paneling in the hallway and made it paint ready for us. We are very pleased with our new kitchen. George and Rick made a great team.

We went to the showroom, and after a very long time someone approached us. We inquired about a new kitchen and the sales rep. was less than enthused about helping and answering any questions. He felt best that he come over and check out my kitchen, which was reasonable, so we set up an appointment. He promptly came over, approx. 3 days later, stayed about 15 minutes assessing the job. Still very blah! He said "i will email you the drawings and bid or i will call you to discuss the options"! To this day, I have NOT heard back from him. I'm not sure of his status at the company, but it seems to me that he must be an hourly employee because he gets paid whether or not they ever sell one kitchen. I wonder if his boss knows that he just lost a sale? Well I'm still on the hunt for a good contractor. I'm glad I have Angie's List to aid me in my search!

We shopped around a bit before choosing Style Rite. They were recommended by a few different friends. When we went into their showroom and spoke to them we knew we had found our kitchen place. Style Rite farms out the installation. Our installer was a fellow named Rick Parr. He was very good. He removed some outdated rough cut wood beams in our kitchen, changed the lights including installing dimmers on the wall for the new lights, new cabinets, of course, a new sink and task lighting under the cabinets. Rick brought in plasterers who did a very nice job on the ceiling. Style Rite also farmed out the granite counters that we wanted. None of this was any problem at all. The one problem we did have was that somehow the designer miscalculated the size of one cabinet. It left a three inch gap. We let them know and that same day got a phone call from the owner who assured us he was ordering a new cabinet on a rush basis at no charge to us. When the owner does the right thing like that it is hard to call it a problem. We are very pleased with our new kitchen.

The layout-design of the kitchen remodel, which was done by Style-Rite personnel, was quite good. But, they donot have inhouse installers. They use private contractors. The installer ( Jim Hanyo) that they assigned to my project was the pits! Several cabinets had to be reinstalled. A section of counter had to be redone 3 times because he kept chipping it. When reinstalling the telephone--instead of installing an outlet box he screwed the telephone base directly into the side of the cabinet. He somehow messedup the wiring of the phone, so that, to this date, it doesnot work correctly. Style-Rite did finally send out someone to adjust all the cabinet doors which were hanging askew. Noone in charge ever come to my house to inspect the job-even though I told them several times that I was dissatisfied. My concerns were treated dismissively or with a flippat remark.

THEY OFFERED MANY IDEAS FOR THE LAYOUT OF THE KITCHEN. A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE DELIVERY WE FOUND THAT ONE OF THE CABINETS WAS THE WRONG SIZE. THEY PROMPTLY REPLACED IT WITHOUT A PROBLEM.
